No, I'll elaborate. For my first reason, I'll quote my own post:

"Imagine. Going through your whole life looking like that." Yeah I can imagine going through my whole life looking like Fox Mulder, it's called gender eurphoria

Apart from the looks, though, he seems to have a pretty cool life. UFO hunting, investigating the supernatural, cool apartment, great partner, fun basement office, action and adventure...of course, there are downsides (missing sister, constant brushes with danger, frequently hunted by the government, paperwork, etc.), but overall it looks very interesting.

However, we're also already not dissimilar. I may not be quite as much of a conspiracy nut as he is (though of course I believe in aliens 🛸), and I'm certainly not about to join the FBI even if the 'uniform' does look hella cool, but we apparently both have issues with sleeping, eating, trust, fire, and obsession/hyperfixation (e.g. Grotesque and his whole search for the Truth), at least. [Let me know if you think my assessment of his character (and/or mine?!) is unfair or wrong; I can't remember exactly what's in canon and what appears more in fanon.]

The most random similarity is that both of us have used the sound of a light aircraft to locate something. In Mulder's case, during S01E15 'Lazarus', it's a sound caught on a recording that helps him find Scully. For me, I was hiking with a group a few years ago and we were mildly lost. However, when I heard a light aeroplane doing spin training, I knew that it could only being doing that over certain areas in our locality, and from the map we had I could work out our location more accurately, the result being that we made it home that evening.

I can also blame Mulder for my new sunflower seed addiction! Thanks a bunch.

Of course, if I were actually to turn up in a TXF episode, it would probably be as background character #3 who has a couple of lines being questioned by Scully whilst Mulder waits moodily in the background, but hey. I want to believe.

Look, this show may be a new love of mine, but yes, I do already have some potentially unpopular opinions. Buckle in...

I'm not a fan of MSR. You said unpopular! I've really enjoyed the early seasons of the show for the friendship between Mulder and Scully, and I see that as just continuing. Yes, they get closer, how could they not? But I dislike the fact that they (apparently) actually get together in the end and it's canon.

I will add the disclaimer that, yes, I am only up to S05E09 at the moment, and I suppose that the storyline could lead very nicely into it. However, at the moment from what I've seen in content on here like gifsets and edits, I don't think I'll like it, and I prefer the vibe of the show as it now is.

This marries up (!) with my dislike of many of later parts of the mytharc that I'm coming to now. It's probably because I personally prefer monster of the week episodes, but especially the S4 mytharc eps were among my least favourites, and some of them were bordering on a struggle to watch.

Which leads into my general dislike of S4, definitely an unpopular opinion according to the poll that happened recently. I won't go on too much as I've said this in some tags before, but I find it hard to believe that S4 is a favourite season. Yes, there are some good eps! Demons is my favourite of the season and among my top episodes of the show so far, and Tempus Fugit/Max was excellent. But there was also The Field Where I Died, Never Again, Memento Mori, Synchrony, Zero Sum...some of my least favourite episodes so far, that I would probably avoid on a rewatch.

We're at the beginning of UA sports festival and I'm already cackling like a mad person for so many reasons lmao

THE FUCKING PLEDGE hdkqmdqmqml I swear I watch that scene 10 times in a row, it's just so fucking hilarious "I pledge I'll be number one" and everyone in class 1-A goes like "You fucking bastard stop making people hate us!!!" hdlkflsdjfr the fact that he's absolutely serious and "not laughing" like Deku says, makes it all the more hotter honestly - and of course, Deku is the only one who's thinking twice on this like "it's not confidence he's backing himself up against a wall on purpose"... Damn Deku you're really watching your Kacchan eh.

Deku by passing fucking Todo & Baku by "borrowing Kacchan's idea" like are you for real fhjlmdmqd it's brilliant and man does that boy got his crush on his mind the entire fucking time - I honestly think it's second nature for him to just think "What would Kacchan do?" whenever he's having a problem 🤣🤣 - the way he by pass them is so fucking great to watch though, aaaah *goosebumps*

Kacchan fucking raging against Todo, "Don't go and declare war to the wrong person!" dhlqdjlq I mean, let's be serious, he only said this because of his constant inferiority complex he got with Deku - pretty sure he would not have given a fucking shit if Todo had challenged anyone else but the stupid nerd who pisses him off so much. In a way (and we'll see that again in the final battle), Kats is literally trying to 'challenge' Deku via Todoroki because of course at this point he would not go head-on saying shit like "Deku you bastard, keep your eyes on me and fight me!" dhlqqmdheor he's such an idiot and we love him 🧡

Katsuki's obsessed with Deku and you cannot tell me otherwise lmao, when the race is over and he's catching his breath, he gets pissed again because "damn it, damn it again!!!" again the stupid nerd beat him to first place (honestly I wonder if he's already having that feeling of insecurities of being left behind by the one who used to follow him around all the time, if someone has a take on that be my guest I'd love to read it). I mean you clearly see the frustration but well it's just me but you can already tell there's something deeper hidden there (which keeps on becoming more obvious with time - ah Hori, you did good my man)

That one scene fucking killed me dhljqmdme, before the cavalry starts and everyone comes to Katsuki to be teamed up with him and what does he say "I don't know any of your quirks" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 like dude, besides your own strength and focus on Deku, you really don't give a shit about much, eh? lol also funny and I don't know if peeps notice or not but when Deku is monologuing about who he wants to team up with, there's this scene where you see Kats with Kiri and Mina who's shooting her acid out of her hands - first time I actually notice that but basically means Kats actually asked for the dudes he teams up with to show him their quirks! So he actually didn't team up with them at random just because they asked but also because he actually considered the best combi to work with him for the cavalry battle. Our dude is diligent and smart as fuck aaaah 🧡

I fucking love the sports festival so much lmao can't wait to get to the end of the cavalry battle when time's up and Kacchan does a very unsexy faceplant 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Cherry Magic TH Live Blogging

Couldn't decide whether to watch Blank Season 2, The Boyfriend reality show, or jump into the first 2 eps of 4 Minutes even though I can't watch it as it airs next week. Wasn't really feeling any of them fully though, so there I am with Cherry Magic TH which I've been meaning to watch for a while. One of the only recent GMMTV series that I've heard pretty much only positive things about because Last Twilight, the other GMMTV BL I've been meaning to watch, had a divisive last few episodes.

About TayNew, I thought their Kiss series side ship was alright but didn't really like Dark Blue Kiss, was annoyed by all the characters. However, I like Tay as a person and have liked him as different characters since then + I was quite impressed by New in The Warp Effect. So I have high-ish hopes, especially because of the general positive buzz toward them for this show even from non-TayNew fans.

Also, it's a long weekend so I can just watch it grey on my laptop for these 3 days and my beloved uorigin.

Ep 1 (Aug 3)

ah, office settings, how I hate them. tend to avoid watching office BLs, esp boss/employee romances because there's nothing romantic about that setting to me but I wanna watch this one.

It really is a little strange to watch this remake because I'm like anticipating things that will happen before they happen. it kinda feels like when you know spoilers but I know more than a random scene that will happen sometime in the show, it's like I'm waiting for the events/sequences like getting his power -> the elevator scene etc. but good thing kinda is that I don't actually remember the Cherry Magic JP much, so it won't be like this for long.

Was I more picky and annoyed watching the first half of ep 12 because it’s like 8am and I’m on the train to go to work?

Overall:

I had watched the Japanese Cherry Magic live-action, which everybody seemed to love but was pretty meh and forgettable to me, but I’m glad that I ended up liking this adaptation better. I was quite unsure about the whole thing when it was announced like 1.5 (almost 2?) years ago, so I’m eating my words.

TayNew’s BL work after multiple years apart and they were both better than their Dark Blue Kiss days I think, helped by the fact that they’ve individually done a bunch of acting work since then. Karan and Achi were cute and endearing (and felt more human/real to me than Kurosawa and Adachi I think? but i can’t remember much from CM JP to say it with certainty). The ship is kind of “boring” in that there isn’t much angst between the characters, not as much tension, they don’t end up breaking up 3/4 through, etc. and I find that it can be hard to care about those sorts of couples for 12 whole episodes but Karan and Achi were cute enough and had enough outside struggles to pull it off.

i’m so charmed by Jinta and Min actually, a vast improvement from the japanese version’s equivalent. How cute and endearing and I liked getting my little taste of celeb/non-celeb dating and typical idol show problems bc I enjoy these tropes, even though they weren’t fleshed out at all in this instance (I will love Thame-Po forever if they actually give me a good, proper show but idk if they will lol esp considering what I’ve heard about Only Boo!). I watched Mark and Junior first in their Midnight Museum storyline and it was good enough, a bit heartbreaking the way the stories in that show were but not mind blowing and I don’t think I’ll be watching Perfect 10 Liners, but I’d still be curious to see them in something different later on.

On the other hand, I didn’t care about Pai and Rock whatsoever. I knew they were gonna end up together based on people’s comments + the SingJan ship but it’s a shame that they didn’t keep aroace Pai though i know she’s not aroace in the OG manga). Even without that, I just didn’t care about it, I just wanted Rock to give up and leave Pai alone. Pai is great and I liked her putting her ex his place and choosing happiness etc but not the part where she screams whenever her real life coworkers Karan and Achi do anything cute like okay you ship them but keep it in your head pls.

I enjoyed the adaptation and how it had the Japanese touches (the company try work for specifically) while also introducing Thai elements (religion, festivals, dialects). Great improvement on the kissing department and I’m glad they also squeezed the wedding in there.

Another of those I enjoyed it and it was well-made but I doubt I’ll be thinking much about this and it didn’t give me any soft of brain worms.

Trying to parse that out, I feel like (and this is just my first impressionof thus and my very raw thoughts)... Xiao Xingchen and his kindness they did touch Xue Yang. But he was ill-equipped to deal with whatever feelings they stirred in him, because he had already been so twisted by the world and his own actions. And so he expressed his love the same way he expressed everything: with obsession and the desire to posses and control.

wangxian got the happy ending Xiao Xingchen and song lan never did. They reunited and even though they spent many years apart they have a real chance now!!!

And this, their child, this is the pay off.

I'm listening to the new album by Nightwish (my favourite band) all the time right now and in their song "How's the heart?" Is this line "now there's one who came from me / A child of light, another tale" and I can't help but think of that right now! The whole song is about how it is worth it, going through the bleak times, fighting through your own darkness because there is light and love at the end of it. It's worth it to keep fighting, just so we can keep meeting others with love. And I can't help but think of little A Yuan/ Lan Sizuhi (and god, I'm almost bursting at the fact that I can write that line!!) As their manifestation of that love. Their "child of light" :')

And even with Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan ... there is this slight hopeful feeling of "we will meet again", if not in this life than in the next ...

Honestly, this ep was the most emotional one for me so far in terms of the whiplash from pain and joy it gave me, though I certainly cried harder at the Yunmeng massacre. The prevailing emotion is joy now, though. I am such a sucker for mismatched, found families and wangxian and their child of light isn't exactly that, I don't know what is. I'm going to sleep with a smile on my face now. 💚
