Stories Stories Stories Masterlist:
The young warlock Charles moved swiftly to conceal his ailing uncle in his chambers and then hurried off in search of Josselyn, for her witch doctor power, although rumored to be tainted by Harker, was Bash's only hope for healing. Josie had been the primary antidote but she too was infected with Rahl's vicious venom which rendered her own healing power useless. Even if she had retained her life saving magic, her will to use it had also been damaged and it was only a matter of time before she would stand at Darken Rahl's side. Bash knew he would suffer the same fate, only at an accelerated rate, for the panther's gash on his chest was deep and not superficial like Josie's and to worsen the plight, it crossed over his heart, the vital source that the venom would rapidly seek out and destroy.
During Charles' absence, Bash had quickly become overly tired and feeble and within seconds, his heavy lids forcefully closed. For how long he was unsure. All he knew when he awoke was that Charles and Josselyn were not there. He was all alone in a disarray of sweat and searing pain to his chest and as he ripped his shirt open, the image of a cross, colossal in size, had burnt into his skin like a tattoo while he had slept. As the good warlock lifted his icy hues of blue in to a brooding glare, his breathing became heavy and his entire body ached with a hellish rage. He was turning.
As Lola headed back to relieve Bard of diaper duties and filled him in on Josie's verbal meltdown geared at Lothlorien's Marchwarden, Josselyn headed back to the cellar's pub to find Bash and inform him that Ashmole was not where Julian had hidden it, but the younger Narcisse brother was not where she had recently left him with Charles. Not a single sole was stirring in the castle's favored brewery, not even the barkeep, which was extremely rare when it came to the endless supply of Dorwinion's sinful spirits at one's fingertips for the drinking, at least that was how Josselyn had remembered it from her years spent there. It was eerily quiet with only the sound of the crackling firepit which made her wonder what had happened to empty out the place that was previously booming with revellers. Darken Rahl was her next thought. Where was Stephane's evil alter ego that once held her prisoner and would most surely want her dead now that he knew she was alive?
Her regrets of returning to his castle immediately intensified, for she had sworn to herself that she never would. It was Haldir's persuasion by vowing to protect her that brought her there, but he too was gone. She supposed she couldn't blame him after Josie utterly annihilated and humiliated the Lorien elf with her venomous words but Josselyn still felt used and abandoned. She knew of Haldir's love for Josie. Everything he did was for her. It was all to save her. Josselyn, and even himself, were merely collateral damage.
A stern whisper from the stairwell echoed down to her, startling her out of her wits. "Joss! Come with me! We must hurry!"
"Bash??" she softly coaxed for a reply as she cautiously peeked around the corner, almost certain of the voice but still unsure due to the lack of scent.
"Is that you?" she pressed on for validation while creeping towards the subdued stone stairwell.
In her concentration of listening for a response, she was unaware of the presence approaching her backside until the hairs on her neck rose. That was when she knew she had been tricked by a magical voice throw but it was too late to react.
Aggressively restrained from behind, Josselyn, still weak from the iron torture the nuns had inflicted upon her, screamed and struggled to free herself from the powerful arms around her until a gloved hand placed a blade of pure silver against her throat reeking of Wolfsbane. Her gasp of fright caused her to inhale the poisonous fumes and within mere seconds, her limbs turned to jelly. It was then with great ease that the hooded entity drug her off through a passageway leading back into the tunnels she had just emerged from.
On her way to Stephane's chambers, Josie became distracted by vociferating voices echoing from a darkened hallway and once she realized who the voices belonged to, she curiously tiptoed her way to the door, finding it ajar just enough to witness a very heated argument between Catherine and Charles. She then remembered Bash's warning that the recently freed Catherine was on a war path over her son's involvement in the late night search for Delphine and had learned of Rahl's attack upon him.
"Look at you!" Catherine raged. "Dark circles under your eyes and pale. You look of filth! Have you even slept or bathed since your late night shenanigans? You remind me of a vampire! You're lucky you have not been turned into one with all the fiendish freaks roaming about in this cursed realm, especially at night."
"Oh stop it mother. I am not a child anymore! I am fine and I do not have time for your overbearing theatrics!"
"Well you will make time. I do not care of your age. Your are still my son!"
"No! I am Narcisse's son! Not yours!! The things you do are an embarrassment! No wonder the men in your life have strayed to other beds."
"How dare you judge me, you little ingrate! I birthed and raised you! Aside from a man whore, have you forgotten what Stephane really is??? A demon! Your loyalty to him, his brother and that wretched wicked witch Queen makes me sick."
"My father is a good man who is mentally ill and has also been cursed but you have no excuse...YOU make you sick mother dearest. A scorned sadistic woman with a jealous grudge and a hypocrite at that with your own infidelity and all the black magic you practice. You tried to have Haldir and Josie killed and almost got my sister and her newborn child banished for making her help you or did that slip your twisted mind?? It is you that I fear. Not my father. You are the wicked one, not Josie. She is good to me. She cares for me. She has been more of a mother to me than you have ever been and she makes my father happy!"
Quickly covering her mouth to conceal her gasp, Josie flinched as Catherine's savage slap stung Charles' cheek.
"Never speak such things to me!!" Catherine bellowed and clutched his jacket, yanking him against her. "You grow up, foolish boy! Risking your life to save that succubus! Her reaping will come soon enough. I can't even look at you. Get out of my sight before it's your life that needs saving!"
Charles' father-like blues glowed of the blazing sun as a low emitted growl rolled through his clenched teeth. "Maybe it is you that will need saving. If you ever lay your abusive hand on me again, you will wish you were still at the merciful jaws and claws of Blaze."
Eyes wide and gasping, Catherine cautiously backed away from her raging son's prowling advance as Josie bit her lip, eagerly watching and wishing Charles would make good on his threat...but instead, he unexpectedly turned to leave.
Josie stumbled back, frantically looking from side to side to find a place to hide and at the last second, she scurried into a deep and dark doorway where she froze solid in the corner as Charles sped by with angry tears streaking down his dirty cheeks. As thrilled as she was over Catherine's suffering, she was heartbroken for the boy she had come to love as if he were her own, just as he had said to Catherine.
Once he was gone, Josie peeked out but quickly concealed herself once more as she heard Catherine's running footsteps, followed by the door slamming shut and the harsh turning of the lock.
Josie covered her mouth to hide her giggle and then as quiet as a mouse, rushed off to her previously intended destination. Stephane's room. Would he care about Catherine's treatment of Charles if Rahl was still in control?
Multiple muffled voices seeped out under the gap of his door at her feet. Three to be exact but only one she surely recognized. Stephane's. Or was it Rahl? Her hopes were that maybe the silverbane infused arrow that Charles impaled Rahl's shoulder with had weakened the dark warlock lord long enough for Narcisse to fight him off. She didn't care either way. All that mattered to her was that it was Stephane's body and he was alright, which judging by his rabid speech, he was just fine AND extremely pissed off.
Petrified to knock, Josie began to raise her shaking hand to the door but as she did so, all the voices ceased. Her fingernails came to her teeth to nervously nibble as her eyes gaped. He knew she was there. She felt it...and even so, she was still startled by his purring growl.
"Josephine. I can smell you. Why do you lurk outside my chamber door?"
Her vocal chords were paralyzed by anxiety, unable to make a single sound until he suddenly barked in exasperation.
"ENTER!!"
Her feet must have sprung a foot off of the ground at his frightening command and she had every reason to be scared. Not only were her powers useless but there was also the fact that when she had last encountered him as Darken Rahl, she participated in a ferocious fencing fight with him and then unleashed her blinding blood rage upon him and his men. If only she knew how to regularly access it but she was beginning to believe it wasn't something controllable or brought on by simply being annoyed, for she could barely remember the incident or the recent attack on his snowball wielding guard either. Only bits and pieces would flash through her mind and those alone made her fearful of herself. What could she truly be capable of under the influence of the beastly rage? Had she already experienced it when she killed Asher? Or was that merely just a survival instinct, for he WAS going to kill her for what Stephane did to him on her behalf. The only thing she did know for sure was that, by the way he had just spoken to her, it was Rahl behind the door, although his physical appearance contradicted that thought as she walked in to an astonishing sight.
In a chair and in his true form sat a highly strung and shirtless Stephane with the essence of Rahl's personality and pepper scent still very much intact as a male healer stitched up his shoulder wound and a female servant of long sable strands catered his child sized goblet of wicked whiskey to him. A very beautiful servant to be exact that Josie arched a jealous brow to because of the provocative way she batted her Bambi bedroom eyes at him.
Briefly, the lord of Dorwinion's eyes took notice of her as he took the goblet, but with no interest of her face, only her assets within her backless grape green gown that poorly supported her untrained A cup breasts. Considering her flamboyant attire, Josie swiftly retracted the thought that the woman was his servant other than for sex. She was most surely a soiled dove from Dorwinion city's brothel, or in modern terms, a whore.
"Your drink, my lord." she softly spoke and then curtly eyeballed Josie up and down with envy as green as her dress.
Impatiently waiting for the Stephane lookalike to acknowledge her, Josie scoffed and stepped forward. "S...Stephane?" she nervously stammered due to his frazzled demeanor.
He sharply raised a brusque arm to the healer's fussing hands, scolding them away and briskly brought his unceremonious attention to Josie with reeling eyes as he bluntly snapped through his gritted teeth.
"I would like to remind you and your perplexed eyes that the one you speak of STILL has his throat beneath my heal."
"I...I'm not here to see him nor do I desire to. After all, HE is the alter is he not? I have come to see you...Darken Rahl."
The silence was deafening. So much so that the delicate crackling of Rosemary smoking on the table could be heard as all eyes gazed upon a finger fidgeting Josie, the same thing Rahl knew Stephane did when he was either nervous or lying.
Rahl stood, bearing only a crimson fabric around his waist that reached his ankles in length. With a tilt of his head and forbidding eyes fixed solely on Josie, he raised a dismissing hand to the man and woman. "Leave us."
The healer promptly exited as the stunned woman remained in place. "But my lord, you requested my..."
Darting his eyes to her, they flashed a portending peach glow. "Your services are no longer desired at this time Seppia. If you so wish for them to ever be desired again..." he paused, and then raged, "you will DO AS I HAVE COMMANDED!"
She whimpered as she flinched at his bellowing roar. "Y..yes m..my lord."
Her eyes then narrowed at Josie who returned a gloating glare and grin. As Seppia closed the door behind her and leaned against it, her mouth wickedly curled on each side. "Your ordered fate will just have to wait a bit longer lord Rahl."
"Well now." Rahl snarled and took back his seat at the table, letting his eyes indiscreetly roll up and down Josie's body as he recalled his hallucinogenic dream of her that had brought him to an orgasmic awakening. "If you aren't the devil with the blue dress on....literally. Do you really think I am a naive fool to your ploys?"
"I...I do not know what you mean?"
"Do not play coy with me Josephine. I saw the glimmer of hope fade from your eyes the moment you realized I was not your precious pepperminty Stephane. Lies spew from your cock sucking lips. I can read you like a book you audacious little bitch. You want him, not me, and you came here foolishly thinking you could trick me by seducing me, all in another futile attempt to revive him so he can heal you."
Josie's lips pursed at his offensive insults. "I came here to make sure YOU were alright after hearing about what happened!!"
Rahl chuckled as he gave one long blink at her. "Just as you were so concerned for me during our duel and let us not forget the vampire tendencies you seem to possess and unleashed upon myself and my men."
"The sword fight was your idea! You said you wanted to see my fighting skills and the blood rage thing, I didn't know I had it and I don't even know how it happened. I blacked out. It's all a blur. I have no idea how to control it. I swear!"
"Nonetheless, it does not change the fact that you hold love for all those that I loathe. Shall I name them all.. Garrett, Haldir, Legolas, my traitorous brother and so forth...."
"I don't care about any of them! Not anymore! Well, except Charles. He's your son and you tried to kill him!"
"Correction! I was not going to kill him!" he barked. "I simply tried to teach him a lesson. He's young, weak and foolish, following my brother around like a puppy that knows no better! He's the one who shot me in case that little tidbit slipped your mind!"
"Purposely in the arm! He loves you and I don't care how evil you are. Your kin, even Bash, mean something to you."
"Do they now. Ask my own father if that is true. Oh wait, you can't because I killed him."
"That's because he made you do unfathomable things which in turn, created you."
"You know nothing about ME or my father, only what Sebastian told you which was and is none of your concern. He will be taught a lesson too and learn his place."
"Fine. It's none of my concern about that but what about Charles? As you said, he's young and I would not call him foolish, but he does have a lot to learn. With that said, I think you would be proud of him after what I witnessed only moments ago."
His brow arched. "How so?"
"That wretched woman!" Josie raged and began to pace about. "Catherine. She said degrading, hurtful things to him. She even slapped him and threatened him! BUT..." she stopped and smirked, "this time, he fought back. It was less than she deserved but it still spooked her real good. Like you just did to that...that soiled Seppia, whom I do not trust by the way for my intuition still exists, Charles showed his dreadful mother what he was capable of. You need to do something about her. Damn Stephane for releasing her! He was too soft and sensitive! She should have been acidified in Blaze's belly by now and shat out for the flies to feast upon!"
Rahl's brow slightly twitched in delight at Josie's darkness but his skepticism still remained. "Oh Josephine, that's quite a show. You're almost convincing of your transformation but once again, I can tell your lying because your lips are moving. You're all talk and no action. Not to mention, you're angry with her treatment of Charles but not mine."
"What?? What was I supposed to do?? I have no powers because of your venom!!! Give them back to me and I'll gladly finish her off! As far as what you did to Charles, I agree with you after hearing your side. You were teaching him to own who he truly is. His weakness stems from his neglective upbringing with that woman and Stephane's influence. His light sickens me and it's poisoned Charles with morals and all that disgusting goodness. In fact...I can hardly stand the sight of you right now. Why on earth do you wear his vile image???"
Rahl leaned forward with an intense stare, testing the dark waters. "The action I speak of does not apply to Charles. Prove to me that it is I you desire."
He leaned back and unraveled his towel, letting it drape from the chair, then he spread his sculpted thighs and relaxed his arms to hang at his sides as his hungry eyes devoured the delicious prey. "Come. Sit. I don't bite....hard."
Josie reluctantly looked away from the lengthy glorious girth sprawled lazily onto the chair that she once had the pleasure of. "Funny, your facetious double entendres and the fact that you just bit my head off for presuming I was here to seduce you and now you try to seduce me."
"As I said, I want proof that my venom has taken full effect and that you are ready to be my Queen."
"Prove it to you? Why not just beat the venom to the punch and slap one of those dog collars on me so you can take what you want like you did to Josselyn?"
"I'm more of a cat person if you haven't noticed. The Rada'Han will not be necessary if your intentions are pure. Either way, you will be mine soon enough."
"What about Seppia? I'm not one to...share. Why is she even here?? She's far from your type."
"What can I say? Cats like to play. She is merely a toy that I requested my guards bring to me from the city."
"You're just in heat! She's a fucking alley rat!"
"Why Josephine, you're looking a bit...green. All you have to do is come to me and she will go away."
Josie was momentarily quiet as she looked his bare form over. "Change out of Stephane's image. Change back to Rahl's, yours."
"I cannot."
"What do you mean you cannot???"
"The lingering effects of the silverbane limit my magic. It may take days to fully recover. What does this matter? You know I am Rahl, for only Stephane is immune to poison and as he sleeps within me, so does his own magic."
"Because I don't want to look at HIM while fucking YOU!"
Rahl picked up his garment and covered his lower half, then, feeling the jealousy that he just accused her of, he cracked into a violent vein popping rage as he pointed to his door. "Is that so? Or maybe it is an excuse because you do not want to feel like you are taking advantage of HIM. You are indeed LYING to me or you would care not for him! I will hear no more of this. Seppia will fulfill my needs for the night and you...you will get the FUCK out of my chambers and will not return until that torch you hold for him and that light inside of you have both been extinguished!"
Flight. It's all Josie could do for the fight inside of her was gone, especially after her blow up at Haldir. She was emotionally exhausted and just wanted to die so she could be with her King, for that was the only torch that could never be extinguished. Her shield protected it and her undying love for Thranduil. There was no evil, no magic, no poison and no man that could ever sever that bond. Even the Elvenking himself couldn't do it. As many times as he had pushed her away, his Josephine always came back to him and he to her, for they both loved each other more than their own lives and magic...always had a way of uniting things that were meant to be together. He was her twin flame, her eternal flame and she was his.
Swinging his chamber door wide open, the Queen of Mirkwood ran through the Dorwinion castle halls with her scarlet strands and the train of her baby blue gown flowing behind her as waterfalls gushed from her burning eyes, much like the night she escaped the abusive clutches of Peter. But this time, there would be no King to save her.
Rahl remained in his seat, beginning to feel a bit green around the gills and greatly perplexed as to how his blackened heart was racing with emotions, the kind a dark warlock lord should not feel, especially for a woman and it befuddled him even more that he could not shut them off. Briefly though, they were interrupted by Giller, Rahl's right hand warlock.
"Your Grace, I have come to inform you that your ordered task has been completed. The witch doctor is contained and will be delivered to the ally shortly."
Rahl, in his moment of weakness, had forgotten all about Josephine's warlock father who he had given the use of his villa to after the mind altered Julian had aided Rahl by drawing out most of the silverbane.
"Good." Rahl simply whispered in a dazed state, making no eye contact with tall, dark and deathly looking man.
"Are you...alright my lord? You seem...distracted."
"It...it's Stephane, his emotions. They plague me. I cannot ward them off. My heart races."
Giller began to smell the air and then with gaping eyes, he darted to the table and doused the burning herbs with an entire carafe of wine that splashed all over Rahl's chest.
"Giller, have you gone mad??!!"
"My lord, could you not smell it??? Where did these leaves come from? Who placed them here???"
"Smell what???" he griped as he vigorously wiped the staining blood red vintage from his skin. "It's Rosemary for healing, you imbecile. I have used it many times! It does not affect me like this!"
"No, but Angelica leaves will! It wards off evil. The plant will weaken you, including your senses and your image!"
Rahl's scrubbing came to an abrupt halt as he gazed at the petite iron cauldron. "It...it was burning when I arrived. She must have....before I....that lying, conniving cunt! She was trying to bring him back just as I suspected!"
"My lord, we both need to leave the room immediately and seek fresh air. I will have the servants see to it that the air is purified while you are out."
Rahl swiftly slipped into his red robe and was practically shoved out the door by Giller and once in the hall, Rahl gave a command with vengeance in his eyes. "Giller...have Seppia return to my chambers this evening when the air is clean and have her draw a bath for us to share. Have the servants stock plenty of wine and candles. She and I are not to be disturbed."
Rahl swiftly swirled around, his robe flaring about his bare feet and off he stormed, growling under his breath. "While the cat's away, the mouse will....payyyy."

Can I ask for mini headcanon for the Ainur reuniting with their s/o who was exiled (went with the Noldor) during the War of Wrath? Sorry if this is too specific :(
A/N: No Melkor and Mairon because it's the War of Wrath, they got wrecked during that war, no reunion with them. I tried to keep these short and failed 🥹
The Ainur — Reuniting With Their Exiled S/O
Manwë
When he watched from Ilmarin as you followed the rebellion of the Valar out of Valinor and into the doom, his heart clenched when you became part of the host fated to the prophecies. Every day he would send his eagles to watch over you until the return of some of the Noldor at the end of the 1st Age.
But his heart swells when he sees your return to the shores of Valinor after centuries of loneliness, it was his Herald who brought you to meet with the Elder King. Long tears of how he missed you and prayed for your safe return will lead to endless days of him never leaving your side.
Irmo
He will constantly brace his brother and Manwë for updates on the Noldor's activities and yours. At first, he kept his distance from Námo after the doom was made, not wanting to believe that his own brother would subject his lover to the same fate as the Noldor when you were innocent. But even Irmo knew it was never his brother's personal intention.
During your time in Middle Earth, he does contact you through dreams, but it's short since the ban was still blocking him from reaching out the way he wanted. When you step off the boat at the end of the 1st Age with Finarfin's host, Irmo broke all forms of composure to rush to your side and embraces you in a bone-crushing hug. Lots of kisses and whispers for you to never leave him again.
Námo
If you thought the others were crushed, Námo died on the inside when his voice rang out to reveal the doom of the Noldor, knowing that there was a possibility of you being subjected to the same fate as the rest. He blames so many people, even himself at one point for willingly announcing the doom. He becomes cold and even more distant from everyone and the world and fearful of finding your fëa in his Halls one day.
The day he receives news of your return from his brother because of your visit to Lorien for healing, Námo on the outside appears normal, but Irmo can see his cold exterior cracking as he glides past him to reunite with you. He wants to be stern about your decision because of the pain it caused him, but he's more relieved to have you back in his arms.
Ulmo
He's been watching you since you left Middle Earth without the order of the Valar. He didn't even wait for them to bark the order for him to secretly watch over them. You were there and he wasn't going to sit around like the rest and do nothing.
Despite him keeping you safe in his own little way, he wasn't able to outrightly communicate with you in the manner he would have liked to. Comes the day the ban is lifted, Ulmo would reveal himself to you, quick to inform you that he's always been keeping you safe. His shattered heart is healed once you made your way into his embrace, crying about how you were sorry and missed him.
Tulkas
Another person who understands that the doom wasn't Námo's personal doing but hated when it was announced and covered all the departing elves, including you. This meant, in his heart, there was the possibility of you never returning whether you lived or died.
The day he learns that the ban was lifted and the elves could return, he awaited your return but was stressed. Perhaps when you settled in your old house, he would make his appearance with hurt and relief on his face seeing you unscattered. For a moment, he forgets his strength and pulls you into the tightest embrace ever, begging you to never leave him like that.
Oromë
He's pissed and desperately wants to leave Valinor to track you down in Middle Earth but argues with the other Valar when they refuse him because they "can't intervene". For once, Oromë wanted to refuse the orders of the other Valar and dance to his own tune but he still waited things out in hopes.
The minute you touch down on Valinor's soil, the bird and beast have alerted him and he's there waiting for you at your home. He appears angered because you followed the crowd, turning away from the Valar, but he's touched that you still used to pray to him and came home safe.
Eönwë
Tearful the entire time you departed and buried himself in strenuous training to mask his hurt. He becomes distant and always asking Thorondor if he has seen anything pertaining to you during your time in Middle Earth.
When he gets the chance to journey to Middle for the war, he doesn't waste a minute of the fighting to seek you out. He's asking around for you and when he does discover your whereabouts, you can bet that he's begging you to return once the ban is lifted. Eönwë refuses to part with you another time, and he's tearful about it too.
Tilion
Before he ended up guiding Isil across the sky, he was heartbroken that he couldn't get you to stay and you chose to follow those who rebelled against him and his people. At one point, he thought you felt the same towards him as everyone else, until he got placed in the sky to guide Isil and he saw you. Tilion watched over you and his heart was filled with glee once he noticed you looking at the moon.
Upon your return, Tilion cannot wait till day has broken for him to walk Valinor again and embrace you in a tearful reunion. He spends most of the day crying in your arms and explaining how much he feared and missed you. His biggest request like everyone else is to never abandon him like that.
Ossë
He is furious and it showed in his actions as he drowned the boats that departed Alqualonde. He knew that you weren't on any, but it was for the actions of Fëanor persuading your innocent heart and taking you away from him, condemning you to a horrid fate.
Your return would be, for the first time, the reason why no ships in years (besides Ëarendil) sunk. He sensed you on the ships and safely guided you back to the shores, waiting with arms open. He would be displeased when you chose to leave with the crowd, so a little scolding is given, but he just wants you close with him from then.

Katie Kimmel and Lorien Stern’s “Very Rare” at Hashimoto NYC.
Currently on view via their website at Hashimoto Contemporary in New York City is artist Katie Kimmel and Lorien Stern’s exhibition, “Very Rare.”
For “Very Rare,” the artists created a collection of whimsical ceramic artifacts, oddities and trophies for unique situations, the imagined content found in an older, wealthy person's curiosity room.
Drawing on their mutually playful sense of humor, Kimmel and Stern contemplated what is considered 'very rare', and how we come to define and categorize something as such. For Lorien Stern, this theme was utilized to place a spotlight on exotic, extinct and near extinct animals, as well as rare versions of the artists well known ceramic shark heads, finished in gold luster. One notable work is a 2+ foot tall albino Komodo dragon, standing upright, tail wrapped around itself and tongue sticking out, while cheekily displaying its long, light blue perfectly manicured finger and toe nails.
Alternatively, Katie Kimmel created a series of ceramic awards and trophies, "haunted fruit", as well as collectible items such as kitschy memorabilia reminiscent of card store trinkets and stamps. Patron Saint of Friday's, a large ceramic bust, pays tribute to the working class chain-restaurant waitress, suspenders full of "flair", proudly carrying a grinning cheeseburger and fries to her next table.
The exhibition is on view until April 25th, 2020.
