Oooo op this is so tasty thank you for this (and ur other content. shit posts included).
I honestly never thought of Byleth being dead dead during the time skip but the more I think about it the more I enjoy this read. Sothis is near (?) impossible to kill, we know this.
Something so so interesting is that while Rhea may not have been successful in her attempts to entirely awaken the goddess prior to vessel no. 13 we see that at post 1000 yrs Sothis has regained at least enough of herself to gain a childlike form and approach to the world (working thru byleth as they also grew from youth to adolescent).
It's very possible erasing Sothis entirely is simply not an option in Fodlan. Byleth as the new Sothis carrying that tradition on just makes sense, as does the fact the time skip is the one place (we don't talk about the s support) we hear Sothis as herself again speaking / calling byleth back
As for the other Nabateans and their... Remains? We know they all originally came from Sothis' body and Rhea herself was probably created via somehing akin to mitosis so it makes sense that there may be some life even consciousness in them (is this why crest stones take control of those not of the same blood?) but imo they are only offshoots of the goddess.
If Sothis took over 1000 years to gain a fraction of her power and memory back I doubt there's much hope for them in 3h verse proper ):
Nabatean Slumber
After several shitposts, we have finally returned to the lore/theory posts! Just as the title says, we are going to be looking at Nabatean slumber. How does it work? What even is it? This post will be more of a theory-post.
Let's unpack!
Death
The first time in the game that we see Nabatean slumber, is when Byleth was blasted off a cliff. They slept for 5 years and woke up to a continent at war.
Here is the thing though. Byleth did go into slumber but it was not like the other Nabateans.
You see, unlike regular Nabateans who go into slumber to heal from near-death experiences, Byleth died,
"So you've managed to make it all the way to the end. For once, it seems the stars were wrong. My reading of the stars predicted that, during the war, you would fall to your death. But that was five years ago. Perhaps the prediction was true for you then somehow." - Magic Wielder
The fall killed them. It makes sense, no mortal would survive that. This is further supported by other lines:
"What have you been doing all this time?" - Edelgard
"I was sleeping" and "I was dead" are both equally valid answers. Byleth was dead, in 'eternal slumber', except they're able to wake up from it. Sounds strange, right?
This seems to be a thing related to the Crest of Flames. Sothis was also dead when Nemesis plundered the Holy Tomb, yet we are told she was slumbering.
And Nemesis was dead and brought back to life:
"Nemesis? That Nemesis? Do you really think the ancient King of Liberation has been brought back to life?" - Claude
"An incredible power that we children cannot hope to match dwells within the blood of the progenitor god. Nemesis obtained that blood, so it would not surprise me if that were the case." - Rhea
What about Edelgard? Her case seems to be unique. The Crest of Flames doesn't work the same way when you have another crest already. Crest cancer is too strong.
Near-death
I stated earlier that regular Nabateans go into slumber to recover from near-death experiences. My reasons for this are some lines in game:
Afterward, it broke my heart to see how much you would need to rest just to survive. - Seteth
Flayn, a Nabatean, went into slumber during the war of heroes to survive. It was a near-death experience.
She even has a few lines for Byleth, depending on how they answer:
Under a rock... How similar we are! As it were, I took my rest in a casket made of stone. - Flayn
She slept in a casket made of stone. That does make it sound like she was dead. Why else would you choose to sleep there? It could be symbolic or my theory is wrong and slumber = death for everyone.
But here is another theory: sleeping in a casket is normal for Nabatean slumber. It could be why Rhea did not want to bury Sitri. Not just because of the cold, dark soil, but because her resting in a casket implies she could come back.
Oh. Well, I suppose one's first long slumber is difficult to recall... - Flayn
FIRST long slumber? Huh, sounds like going into slumber is pretty normal for Nabateans. Not that that's a huge shock. Seteth immediately understands when Byleth tells them they slept for 5 years.
But. man, they must really suck at surviving if they keep getting close to death's door!
Who else do we have left?
Relics
Ah, right. The corpses of the slaughtered Nabateans. Is their current state a "slumber"? They're dead, Rhea tells us that quite clearly.
Why do they twitch then? Why do they sap the life-force of their wielders? Why do they glow when activated, similar to Rhea's "truest" form at the end of SS?
Are the relics aware, somehow? Miklan turns into a black beast, and Maurice suffered a similar fate. Was that the relics trying to return to their original state? Why does it happen more frequently to a non-crested person, then? Do they see crested people as fellow Nabateans, and thus don't want to do a take-over? Does it take longer because they need time to come to the realization that this is a human with Nabatean blood? Or was it just an act of revenge?
The game doesn't give us any concrete answers when it comes to the Relics. All of it is left vague and up to interpretation.
So, what are your thoughts on it?

Experience: Helping younger children with their environmental project
Duration: 03/04/2022-04/04/2022
Evidence:
Photograph of the children that we helped on the second day
CAS strands: Creativity, Service
Brief overview: Two classmates and I went into a year one class and a preschool class to help; them brainstorm and build boats and robots to help pick up the rubbish in the ocean. We spoke to them about climate change and helped them come up with ideas to help solve marine pollution. We then helped them build prototypes of these boats and robots.
Learning outcomes:
5: Demonstrate the skills and recognise the benefits of working collaboratively
I worked collaboratively with the children, my classmates, and the children’s teachers.
6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance
I worked with the children on the impacts of climate change.
7: Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions
I helped explain to the children why polluting and littering has a negative impact on the planet
Reflection:
This experience was extremely fulfilling. It was meaningful to me and it made me feel glad that children aged 4-6 are learning about such important issues. Climate change is a global problem, and I did not learn about it at such a young age (LO6). The children understood how large the problem is, and I was happy to be able to help them understand it further (LO7).
I also enjoyed being able to explore parts of the school that I hadn’t before, and discovering what the children are learning about in class, as many elements are different to what I learnt about at their age.
I greatly enjoy working with children and this experience was an opportunity to do that. I helped the group understand the benefits of working collaboratively (LO5), with the group of four year olds, I explained that creating one large boat instead of three small ones would be beneficial. Thus, they understood that working together is an important skill that was useful for this experience, but also for many other events in their lives.

Krav Maga Beginner Diploma
Experience/Project: Starting Krav Maga to pass grading and achieving the beginning diploma for Krav Maga Objective: Pass the Krav Maga grading process and achieve the J1 Krav Maga Diploma
Duration: 7 months (August 2022 to February 2022)
Evidence: Photo of the diploma, of me practising and word from the instructor.
CAS Strand/or strands: Activity
Brief overview: In August 2022 I decided to start practising the "Krav Maga" self-defence and had the goal to pass grading in December and receive my first diploma in February.
Learning outcomes:
LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
LO4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognise the benefits of working collaboratively
Preparation: I would attend Krav Maga classes every week with a professional instructor as well as other people that I met through the class. I also practised at home regularly with my brother.
Reflection:
When I was younger, I was "picked on" and bullied, often for my small size. I also always felt unprepared in case I was in a dangerous situation. For this reason, I decided that I was going to start a combatting sport. Usually, people would get into a more popular martial art such as karate. I wanted to explore a more obscure one, which focused not on fighting but on defending, so I chose Krav Maga, a self-defence sport created by the Israeli Military. Learning Krav Maga also helped me discover Israeli culture. This allowed me to connect to some of my family who had lived in Israel before and practised Krav Maga. So I joined a local Krav Maga school. From then on, every Thursday and Friday after school, I would attend classes. With the help of Instructor Yanni and Instructor Lara, I learnt a variety of Krav Maga techniques for self-defence. I am very thankful that I did this class because I learnt so much. One of the main things I learnt is that fighting does not have to be attacking. In Krav Maga for example, everything is based on defending after someone attacks, and this philosophy can be used in many different scenarios. Aggression is not always needed and attacking someone in any form can lead to much worse things than if you simply defended yourself. In Krav Maga, the first thing we learnt is that whenever there is a threat, you must do everything in your power to neutralise the threat using the voice before physically attacking. Another key takeaway I learnt was how important it is to have other people by your side. When going on this adventure, I had found people in my Krav Maga School try to learn the ins and outs of self-defence with me, and so I was able to connect with them as they were able to connect with me and collaboratively progress through the Krav Maga curriculum until the grading day. Though now that I have received my diploma and completed my goal, I will still be continuing to take Krav Maga classes every week in hopes of improving my skills, my friendships with other people in the class and my overall fitness from the sport.

June 2024
Creativity: (LO 2) I baked a cheese cake for the first time. It took longer than expected which was challenging as I hadn't planned for that. Despite this challenge I enjoyed baking this cake and still enjoyed it as I usually do when baking. In the future I should plan more effectively in advance.
Service: (LO 1) My school hosted a family picnic for families from all campuses to come together, and with a few peers we volunteered to help. I wasn't sure what I'd have to do exactly before getting there, and throughout the day had to perform various tasks. I didn't find this to be challenging as I am rather flexible when it comes to having to switch between roles. I had to set chairs, greet people, assist children etc. (LO5) Working collaboratively with my peers and some teachers was pleasant as I typically only see them in a school environment, but communicating with them during my volunteering on this day showed me how to better compromise and take their ideas on how to do something effectively.
Activity: Since it was no longer cold out, I rode my bicycle to and from school most days this month. It was slightly challenging at first because I typically don't plan my bike rides, which is something I had to do because I had to be at school at a certain time. Additionally, I also went on runs and long walks as I normally do occasionally.
