I think the reason why I'm so bad at those hunter-gatherer style games is that I am, at my core, a curator. I don't like limited inventory space because I have a desire to collect a variety of things rather than essentials. it is my firm belief that as players, it is our duty to appreciate all the things that developers put into the game, and the ability to collect lots of items is a primary way to do this. this applies to life too, and even if you say "no, life has a greater risk for everything than games," that isn't a valid argument because the entire point of life is to live it. so collect that funny object or shiny thing if it makes you happy, because a fundamental part of existence is to appreciate things like that
