Lily got distracted so easily when she cooked -- particularly nowadays, with everything going on in her mind. She grew up doing this, it was practically all muscle memory by now, all the chopping and searing and boiling. It was easy to get lost somewhere else in her brain, so deep in thought that she became completely unaware of her surroundings while she julienne'd some carrots. That was a fancy term she'd read on the fancy cook book someone had given her once, julienne. She liked feeling smart by using those kind of terms.

It just went to show how shit of a fighter she would be if she were out there, that when someone walked into the kitchen, she didn't even hear the footsteps.
