“Would the cops really do all this just to frame someone/lie?” the cops will drop fucking bombs on you if they think they need to. They’re the cops. Their function is to preserve the two forces of American empire at home, racism and capitalism. That’s all they are meant for.

"People have to be worth their titles. Don't you agree, nurse Anya?"
"....You did make it through nursing school, right?"
"Pony Express sure knows how to cut corners, if nothing else"
Fuck you fuck you fuck you fuck you fuck you
Fuck Jimmy this line was so intentional, this game is too well thought out that this exchange had to be fucking intentional on another level.
I thought I was overthinking when I was bullshitting about what it would take to keep Curly alive post crash and lol. Lmfao. I am over thinking probably but Anya deserves more so yeet.
Jimmy probably dragged him out, crispy and mangled. Probably fat eyed and begging Anya to do something. She had to stop major arterial bleeds, perform rudimentary amputations WITH ALL FOUR EXTREMITIES (I can't tell exactly where the removal starts but it looks like partial removal of long bone in his right/both legs which is risky in the best, sterile conditions with a full and trained team), probably deal with adhesion, definitely had to deal with debridement.
This is assuming Curly wasn't in the worst condition during the immediate crash and response. Never mind if major blood loss was ticking the clock. That'd also be needing to stabilize BP, never mind if he'd need transfusion. Never mind if they had blood for the crew, transfusion kit, or if that shit was literal poke n pray.
This is all on a nurse btw, one who probably only dealt with GP settings. Oh, and Jimmy's comment about cutting corners was meant to be a dickhead comment to her but its true. They didnt intend to overshoot how much food would be needed for their crew's journey gone well. I cannot imagine what emergency kits they didnt have or what meds they didn't include to get Curly stable, to keep Curly stable, and then to ensure his infection risk from full body burns, injuries, and amputation didn't win in the end. Its a genuine miracle he didn't die, and if Anya is just familiar with GP settings she was no lesser than a god performing said miracle.
Jimmy probably watched her do this, probably was yelling at her that she wasn't doing it well enough (while he was barely a help and took orders from her), and still makes that shit ass comment.

The clones really are a fascinating contrast to stormtroopers. And I don’t mean Finn and the First Order because they follow in the wake of The Clone Wars; I mean Imperial stormtroopers who dominated the Star Wars imagination first and the longest.
For decades, stormtroopers basically functioned like clones: they looked and sounded the same, even though we knew there were different people underneath the helmets they never took off; different faces, same personality.
Then actual clones basically inverted the model: genetically identical men used every opportunity to differentiate themselves, from their armor to their body modifications to their behavior; same face, different personalities.
The one place where the Venn diagram intersected was loyalty, but even then, they still inverted each other’s models. Clones designed to be unwaveringly loyal and obedient consistently questioned orders and their place in the galaxy. Meanwhile, stormtroopers from disparate planets and cultures unfailingly followed the orders of an impersonal Empire.
For all of Star Wars’s faults, for all the ways in which they dumb down or gloss over traditional scifi modes and themes, I can’t think of a more thorough exploration of cloning, the attendant questions of identity and free will, and the sociopolitical and metaphysical implications of a race of genetically identical men, of sameness in difference and difference in sameness, than the clone troopers.

Physicists say the measurement causes the probability wave to collapse and they envision that the larger the initial probability wave at some location, the larger the likelihood that the wave will collapse to that point – that is, the larger the likelihood that the particle will be found at that point.

Okay but genuinely what happened to all the chthonic residents when the house was attacked? The dialogue briefly mentions that the shades fled so I’m assuming sisyphus, eurydice, orpheus, achilles, patroclus etc. are fine (also they’re already dead so they can’t exactly die twice) but like… what about dusa?! Is she okay??? Are the furies okay???? Is nyx alright? Did she flee to chaos’ realm? Where the fuck is thanatos?! CERBERUS???!!! IS CERBERUS OKAY?! SUPERGIANT ANSWER ME!!!!
I swear to god if that fucking titan laid a single hair follicle on that dog I will start killing

Gale and John rush into the ER. John's face is bloodied, and his nose bruised and sitting all crooked on his face. Still, he’s grinning, and clearly dazed from the pain, while Gale's blushing furiously, and stammering out an explanation to the nurse.
"We were, eh, doing some—"
"He sat on my face so hard he broke my nose," John butts in, slurring a bit, and proudly prods at the swelling forming under his eye.
The nurse pops her mouth open. "Oh."
"What happened to the cover story we agreed on in the car?" Gale asks through his teeth.
"What story?" John asks, smiling dumbly. "Oh, yeah. I think the Ibuprofen is just hitting now, Buck, I can't recall the details. Anyway, honesty is always the best policy."
