While all of these desperately are in need of focus, I'm glad to see Norman & Vincent doing so well (though there's things to be said there) 🤧 Was hovering between them and Norman & Smee for a good few hours before ultimately going with Smee for these reasons:

#very invested in all of them ngl i want Every Detail on everyone from lambda #but i need to know more about Smee #he was clearly so important but we never get a formal introduction?? i wanted to see him and Norman work together #and as a tragedy enjoyer i wanted to witness norman losing the last adult he felt like he could trust. idk let me have it!! #i just. need to know absolutely everything about the humans on the ratri/farm side who were working against them IT’S IMPORTANT (via @emmaspolaroid)

If it looked like a duck, and quacked like a duck, then it was probably a duck. Katie wasn’t sure if that logic held up this time, though, because she was very clearly looking at a Galra base, but everything else she else she had on her said otherwise.

Her tracking algorithm said the closest fleet was a quadrant away, and the Galra never liked to stay that far away from home. Her databases didn’t say anything about secret bases this far out, and she’s loaded them with the Blade of Mamora’s latest info-dump. There was no way the guys who spent decades in deep-cover wouldn’t know about this place.

And yet this moon was permanently disfigured by the hostile and angular architecture typical of the Galra. 

Yeah, this was too strange for Katie to not investigate. She actually downed her lion, hiding it behind the greater ridges of the moon. If Katie could keep cloaking on while she was on-planet, then she would, but she’d just have to rely on Green’s shielding to deter any lion-nappers.

She was sneaking closer to the base, now, taking all the more advantage of the moon’s ridging. The closer she got, the more she realized just how off this supposed base was: there weren’t any sentries.

There were patrols. But they weren’t done by sentries—not even soldiers. Just people. Or, maybe they just weren’t Galran soldiers? It looked like they had uniforms, and that was pretty soldier-y, but they weren’t the kind of uniforms you expected to see on the battlefield.

Katie would’ve kept gawking and wondering, had she not been ambushed.

Okay, “ambush” was too strong of a word for being greeted by one of the snazzily dressed patrols that had managed to flank her, but Katie still yelped all the same. Thanks to the reduced gravity of the moon, she didn’t just jump back, but leap back, too.

Had she suspected hostiles, then she’d already been swinging her bayard around. As far as she understood, though, she’d come across the hide-out of preps.

Sounding a little hoarse, Katie demanded in a not-so-paladin voice, “Who’re you?!”
