The Importance of Off-Season Conditioning for Multi-Sport Athletes
The off-season is often seen as a time to rest and recharge after a demanding competitive schedule. While rest is crucial, it’s equally important to view the off-season as an opportunity to strengthen foundations, prevent injuries, and prepare your body for the challenges of the next season. For multi-sport athletes—such as those competing in triathlon, duathlon, aqua bike, and…

Mermaid Day Is A Winner
Teaching swimming lessons to young children can be difficult. They don’t like getting their mouth or nose wet, get eyes wet, and certainly don’t want to submerge. Often they cry just getting splashed, so teaching at that point is not going to happen. Tears are not inevitable but very common. Then I found a Barbie mermaid. I brought the Barbie Mermaid to the pool for my lessons because I thought…

At Felix's Swim Schools, we believe swimming is a lifelong skill that thrives on consistency, patience, and practice. That’s why we encourage a year-round approach to swimming lessons. Learning to swim isn’t something that can be mastered in just a few weeks; it’s a journey that requires steady exposure to the water and continuous practice.
Many of our students attend lessons once or twice a week throughout the year, and this regular schedule makes all the difference. It allows children and adults alike to build their skills gradually in a relaxed, enjoyable environment. Over time, swimming becomes second nature—a fun and beneficial part of their daily lives.
One of the unique aspects of Felix’s Swim Schools is that our doors are always open. Swimmers of any age, from infants to adults, and all levels of ability can join our program at any time of the year. Whether you’re starting as a beginner, working on refining your strokes, or preparing for advanced certifications, there’s always a class designed just for you.
Our lessons are taught using a progressive learning technique. This means each skill is broken down into manageable, easy-to-learn steps and introduced in a way that feels natural and fun. For younger swimmers, this might look like playful games that encourage them to put their face in the water or kick their legs. For advanced swimmers, it’s about mastering strokes, endurance, and technique.
Consistency is key, but so is enjoyment. We focus on creating a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment where swimmers feel empowered to learn at their own pace. This balance of fun and structured learning helps build confidence and ensures steady progress without overwhelming the swimmer.
The benefits of a year-round swim program extend far beyond the pool. Regular exposure to swimming improves physical coordination, strength, and stamina. It also builds important water safety skills, which are invaluable for anyone who spends time near pools, lakes, or oceans. For many, it also becomes a way to relieve stress, build resilience, and stay active for life.
At Felix’s Swim Schools, we’re here to support every swimmer, every step of the way. Whether you’re looking to build your child’s confidence in the water, introduce them to swimming as a sport, or simply provide a fun and healthy activity, our year-round program is designed to meet your needs. Let’s dive in together and make swimming a skill that lasts a lifetime! 🌊✨

August Achievement
Hey!
Are you following the Olympics? Wow! These athletes make me want to up my game. I've worked hard for over a year, and I know that doesn't sound like a long time, but really- I struggled to get into the habit of working out and getting exercise for much longer than that. Whilst my work out routine needs more... erm... work... I know that I can and do improve.
Here's the thing: over training.
Over training is a nightmare, it derails a good routine, and can slow momentum. My goal here is to be consistent, to create a routine that brings in results, and to stick to it.
Tonight I felt a great sense of achievement as I managed to swim four whole lengths of backstroke. Seriously, I could just about swim a width of the pool in breaststroke a year ago. I warmed up tonight by swimming widths of the pool, then practiced half-lengths, then swam four full lengths. I felt profound happiness afterwards.
Eat up fitness!
