Sometimes I think people watching conference who tag things as "ex cult" are living in a different reality than me, where everything that is said has the most bad faith interpretation possible. Not saying you shouldn't be critical, I am, but like. Come on. Blind hatred is not the antidote to blind belief. Its actually the same thing, just flipped.

”The God who answered Joseph Smith in the Grove is a God who answers teenagers.”
Wait I love that

You aren't outside of Jesus's reach. He has very long arms.
He's going to get you.

The Church's gravitation towards Evangelical ideology is the worst thing that's ever happened to it. At least in 1800's Missouri we died confident in our faith as my ancestors were hunted for sport; now it's rotting us inside out as the far right deceive the very elect into the kind of wickedness that makes floods happen.

Talking about how our “personal views” may conflict with the gospel and then saying “In time, we will receive more spiritual clarity from our Heavenly Father”… but when I receive personal revelation that God loves me as a queer person and wants me to be happy living as one suddenly my personal revelation doesn’t count? God doesn’t hate queerness and it is not in conflict with Him!

"I don't know ... But I have a few thoughts that might help you as you find your answer to that question."
I love that, what a humble and realistic approach to religious speaking. I don't have the answers and your answer is going to be unique to you. But here are some thoughts that could be helpful

my brother works at chick-fil-a and right after the first session ended, his co-worker walked in and said “the Mormons are coming”
they were then met with the worst lunch rush of those employees lives.

the one thing I'll always love about mormon masculinity is that we will not be having any of that "haha I hate my wife" shit. the male general authorities set the example every single conference of saying "I love my wife, she's the best person I know, I'm the most lucky man who ever lived, every time we disagree I'm usually wrong because she's wiser and I've learned so much from her," etc. oaks was like "I'm releasing these men. give them and their wives a vote of thanks." the message to every man is to celebrate and appreciate the women he knows, not put them down.

Whenever I hear someone bring up "the moral decline of society" my mind always goes to the global rise of fascism even though I know that's unfortunately probably not what they mean

Elder Kearon’s talk really summarizes why I’m still a believer, because our theology is so forgiving, so open, so universalist, so tender. The God of our theology is constantly giving us chances to come back, to come to Him, to learn, to improve. He doesn’t turn anyone away. He wants us back so much that he even has plans in place for us to grow and learn and join the right path after we die! We get so many chances to mess up and pick ourselves up and try again! It’s such a hopeful, welcoming message.

This idea of teaching simply to stay away from false doctrine reminds me of how so many of us were raised with simple things, like "Jesus loves everyone". Then we get older and people get pedantic and try to redefine what things means, or throw in, "but..." No. You were right the first time. Don't over complicate things because you feel loopholes are necessary.
