One of my favorite little things in the silmarillion is how jirt very passively aggressively uses “it came into his thought/mind” when someone has a very stupid idea.

Basically “I have no fucking idea how this imbecile came to the conclusion in his tiny little brain that this would be a good idea but HERE WE ARE”

and then he proceeds to THROTTLE CURUFIN homer simpson style until even luthien is like “dude, chill.” one of the funniest fight scenes honestly.

i feel like we don't talk enough about the part of beren and luthien where beren does a really big jump and everyone is like "wow beren that was a really big jump" and then he gets shot. like objectively that's really funny i think

Tuor did NOT make it to Valinor…. but he thought he did.

Idril and Voronwe were just humoring him at first when he started talking about sailing to Valinor. They both knew it was impossible but they didn’t want to make him feel bad. But then he got increasingly fixated on it and they were like “shit” and secretly asked Ulmo for help.

So they set sail for “Valinor” and Ulmo led their ship to some random tropical island and they just told Tuor it was Valinor… and it was, like, a really nice island so he believed them. And he spent the rest of his days sipping pina coladas on the beach. 🤙🍹🏝️

(Then when he finally passed away peacefully of old age, Idril and Voronwe went in grief to Valinor)
