"Heavenly spa" ❥
Finally done! Hello everyone, and welcome to this full relaxing area.. Heavenly spa is placed in Tartosa on a 50x40 lot.. It's tree floor build with outside and inside pool, two saunas, two drink bars, coffee bar, private room for lover couples, gym, yoga room, sumba studio, massage room and icecream station.. I had to use a bunch of CC, otherwise this build would not look this beautiful.. Mitigating circumstance is that these are the creators whose objects you all mostly use.. ❥ I will copy the links of the creators that I think you may not have in your mods folder and I will just list the others.
I hope you enjoy and I would like you let me know and tag me if you use it in your game play :)

love is a laserquest p.2
series masterlist (read p1 here!)
pairing: rockstar!ellie williams x reader
request: @thatgiraffefromtlou so kindly included me on a post about writing something inspired by these beautiful edits :) thank you !
summary: after a serious of unfortunate events, columbia grad y/n y/l/n finds herself using her hard-earned journalism degree interviewing vapid stars and writing articles that she's convinced are rotting her mind. ellie williams has just dropped the album of the year and it's all anyone is talking about, but all she wants is to be off the press train. a certain interview with a certain interviewer might change this.
cws: explicit language, kind of suggestive phrasing? (i get a little feral with guitar playing descriptions), shitty bosses, mentions of nausea and throwing up (no one actually does tho dw), y/n is anxious asf, my writing is a little....yikes...in this one, loser!ellie
a/n: i lied i lied hehe. here's the next part. im still working on building this stupid app so i havent been able to write as much recently + holiday family stuff but oh am i back!
here's a playlist inspired by this fic

enjoy mwah
It starts slow, like the drip of a broken faucet. It’s not like you’re actively seeking out anything Ellie William’s related, but somehow it seems like everything Ellie Williams related is seeing you out.
In the grocery store, one of her hit songs from her newest album blaring over the speakers.
On the street, where you see crumpled pages of magazines with her face plastered all over them.
And—perhaps the most offensively—on NPR and the New York Times, quite literally days after you’d met her. Suddenly Steve Inskeep and Leila Fadel begin the Up First podcast with a familiar song and devote an entire third of the morning podcast to Ellie and her band’s rise to fame.
You decide to switch to the BBC World News for a while, but even they seem to be under her spell.
It’s not that you don’t like Ellie. She seems fine. Normal. Really cute, actually, and clearly very talented. But whenever you think about her, you think about the ill-fated, awkward, charmless interview.
“What happened?” Alyssa had asked you when she’d come back from surgery. “That wasn’t you out there.”
Which was actually very hurtful to hear, because you’d been holding onto the hope that you’d been all in your head about your interview being a failure. It all culminates in Eric, your 300 year old manager, sending you a strongly worded email that told you that your performance in the interview was so underwhelming that you were being pulled from the interviewer pool and exiled to article writing land. Which could be worse, you admit. You could be unemployed on the streets of LA. At least you’re still writing.
And write you do. You spend all your waking hours either at your keyboard, on your yoga mat, or sat in a chair somewhere at a local cafe for a coffee chat. You’ve mostly deleted social media, since all you see nowadays are pictures of Ellie and Becca’s posts about her experience working and loving her life in New York (the algorithm apparently knows exactly what you want to see the most).
It’s bizarre that, even as you try your best to place your focus on honing your craft and consuming only content that you think will make you a better writer, you still somehow learn everything and more about Ellie Wlliams and her band. It’s in the emails at work whose chains you’re CC’ed on. It’s in the advertisements and the billboards everywhere. It’s even in the conversations you have with your two roommates, Greta and Maureena.
“She’s so fucking cool,” says Maureena dreamily as you sit around the TV in the living room. “I still can’t believe you got to talk to her.”
“It’s not like I actually got to, like, get to know her or whatever,” you say. “It was honestly kind of dry. Just awkward small talk.”
“That’s more than anyone else I know can say.” She reaches forward and grabs a fistful of popcorn. “How come she gets interviewed by the person who probably cares about her the least in all of LA? Like, what are the chances?”
“I care,” you say, and it sounds unusually defensive coming out of your mouth.
Maureena gives you a long, suspicious look, but before she can respond, Greta comes bursting into the apartment, purse swinging from her shoulder.
A greeting is halfway out of your mouth when she cuts you off.
“You guys will not believe what I just did.” She’s nearly bursting with excitement, her eyes bright and wide.
“Like, in a good way?” you ask.
“Yes. Obviously!” Greta fishes around in her pocket until she pulls her phone out, waving it around. “Check your email.”
The last time Greta had come in with an entrance this energetic, she’d been coming to inform you both that she was getting engaged to her loser boyfriend Brian (which—thank God—didn’t actually last), so you and Maureena trade nervous looks.
Maureena gets to it first.
“Tickets to see Ellie Williams? Tonight?” Now she’s about to explode with giddiness, leaping from the couch and throwing her arms around Greta. “I love you, I love you, I love you. How did you get these? I thought they were, like, totally sold out. Or ten thousand dollars.”
She grins wickedly, holding her hands out in a “who knows” sort of way. “You can all thank me later. We have to leave in about 20 if we want to get there in time. Y/N, you good?”
You’d been staring on in horror, jaw dropped and body completely frozen. You had registered that Ellie was playing in LA tonight—it’s all anyone you knew talked about at work today—but you never once considered actually going to try to see her. “Uh, yeah. Give me just a few.”
By the time you get to the venue, you’re convinced that you might actually puke from the nerves. It’s ridiculous. It’s not like three broke 20 some year olds were going to get last minute seats to an Ellie Williams concert that were genuinely good seats. It’s not like she would see you and realize that the girl who flopped while interviewing her was a big enough fan to attend. You’re going to be fine.
“Shit, Grets, how are we so close?” asked Maureena as she leads you both closer and closer to the front.
Horror steadily rises within you as you approach the front row.
“I got these from my boss,” she says, turning around with a devilish glint in her dark brown eyes. “Her daughter got food poisoning, bless her. She had to stay back to take care of her, and I was the only one who stayed late to work, so…”
Greta’s boss was some filthy rich nepo baby who was a partner of a big talent agency. All of a sudden you feel stupid for not realizing this sooner.
“Shit,” you say, mostly to yourself. “Oh no. Oh my god.”
“Isn’t this so cool!” Greta jumps up and down, hands on your shoulders as she tries to rile you up. “Dude, what if she recognizes you?”
“I think I’m going to puke,” you say miserably. Somehow the thought of her seeing you made you want to crawl inside your skin in shame and hide for the next calendar year. “Did you guys not see how ass it was? I was so fucking awkward.”
“It wasn’t even that bad.” Maureena pats your shoulder.
“I literally was forbidden from ever interviewing again because it was so bad.”
“Because Eric hates women,” says Greta. “It’s not your fault he’s a horrible human being. Give it, like, a year or so until he croaks. Then they’ll let you back in the game.”
“Uh huh,” you say, feeling very harrowed.
You remain in this state of abject terror for the entire opener performance. The nausea doesn’t subside. It only gets worse when you realize that if you actually puke, Ellie’s definitely going to see it. Just like she’s going to see you, with the stupid stars Greta had insisted you paint on your cheekbones with glittery eyeliner and eyeshadow.
“She really likes space,” Greta had told you while you’d been getting ready, pretending like you didn’t already know all about this. “So all of her fans wear star stuff to see her.”
Before you can think to wipe off the glitter, everything goes black. Then the crowd goes wild.
When the silvery blue light spills onto the stage, it illuminates Ellie, standing just a number of feet away from you. You barely have enough time to take in the black leather coat and loose white shirt she’s wearing before music explodes out of the speakers, her fingers flying up and down the fretboard.
You’re spellbound as you watch her. Her voice rings loud and clear and slightly gravelly when it snags on her words. She’s nothing at all like the girl you’d met a month ago—there’s no discomfort, no awkwardness. She looks like she’s born to be on stage.
When the first song ends, she steps back, grabbing the standing mic next to her.
“Uh. Hi,” she says, and it’s so endearingly nervous compared to how she’d just sounded that something in your chest twists. She rubs the back of her neck. “I’m Ellie.”
Greta and Maureena join the crowd, screaming and cheering.
“I LOVE YOU!” someone shrieks, louder than everyone else.
“You know,” she says, “I don’t think I’ll ever get used to people reacting like this to me just, like, saying my name. It’s really fucking weird. Oh. Shit. Sorry. Are you guys okay with me swearing?”
The roar that comes from the crowd is entirely undecipherable.
“Right,” says Ellie. “Um. I’ll take that as a yes. Sorry to anyone who brought their kids or something. Anyway, this one’s about the ex who cheated on me and gave me mono.”
Before you can react to that, she starts playing.
As she proceeds through the setlist, you’re struck by just how close you are to her, how many things you can notice that hardly anyone else in the crowd can see. You see the outline of her phone in her pocket, the pieces of hair that have fallen out of her little half bun and are sticking to her face, the way that the glitter on her collarbones trails down her shirt in little rivulets.
And, above everything else, you can see the horrible way her fingers straddle the fretboard, curling and pressing with ease so practiced it looks tender.
Apart from this bad, bad development (you can feel your mind going a million miles an hour about things you should not be thinking about), things are going great. Ellie hasn’t noticed you. Or even looked in your direction. You’re not even sure she can see you, given how little light is shed onto the crowd. The false sense of security makes you feel comfortable singing along with Greta and Maureena, your lips forming the lyrics you’d been pretending to not listen to whenever her songs came on.
It happens during a slower song, a sort of ballad that makes your heart thud harder in your chest to hear from her mouth. The lights on stage dim a little. Light spills just the slightest onto the front of the crowd, and Ellie’s eyes fall and snap onto yours so decisively that it almost feels audible.
For a moment, you can’t breathe. Ellie’s voice suddenly catches mid-word, faltering and missing a beat. She thrusts her hand with the mic into the crowd, which eagerly picks up where she left off and finishes the verse.
It’s impossible to see on the screen projecting her image behind her, but you can see the flicker of recognition in her eyes, the stiffness that comes with realizing that you actually know someone from somewhere.
You’re the one who breaks eye contact, focused with a sudden intensity on the way the thin fabric of your sleeves are situated on your arms.
Greta pokes you so hard in your ribs that you gasp.
“What the fuck!” you snap, but the words are swept away by the noise around you.
“Why didn’t you wave?!” she hisses in your ear. “She totally recognized you.”
The realization falls over you with the subtlety of an anvil. Oh my god. You totally should’ve waved. That was the normal, well-adjusted thing to do. Now she was going to think you were weird. And it was too late now. But she didn’t wave to you. Wasn’t she supposed to wave first? Because you of course remembered her, but she might not remember you. Yeah. You could go with that.
Maybe she didn’t remember you.
You can’t relax for the rest of the concert. You try your best to just act normal and dance along with your friends and casually mouth the words, but it’s hard when it feels like she’s staring at you. Which is completely impossible. The light doesn’t fall back onto the crowd until the concert is over and Ellie and her band are long gone backstage.
~
Two months later, all you can think about is the way that Ellie stuttered over her words when she saw you in the crowd. Of course, this is definitely something you’ve made up in your mind, because there’s a number of reasons why she might’ve slipped up. Maybe she just thought she knew you from somewhere and couldn’t place it. That’s why she (allegedly) kept looking in your direction afterwards. Or maybe you’re completely batshit insane, and she didn’t look at you at all. Because if she had, wouldn’t she have waved? Right?
It’s almost bad enough to distract you from work. You find yourself prowling on Twitter, watching the #elliewilliams tag blow up following every concert date. It doesn’t give you any clarity, because in every picture, she looks just as perfect and cool and confident as she was at the LA show. You don’t know why you assumed she’d look different if it was true that she’d recognized you. More human, maybe. But she’s just as bathed in starlight as she was that night many weeks before, just as far away and untouchable.
You spend so much time thinking about her that you’re convinced you might’ve slipped into a dream when Eric appears at your cubicle with the news.
Instead of saying hello, he plops a stack of papers on the desk in front of you, all labeled “PopNow! Interview Etiquette”.
“Excuse me?” you say.
“Start reading up, kid,” says Eric. “You’re back in the game.”
“What?”
“You have an interview scheduled later this week.” He scowls down at you, gum smacking in his mouth. He smells faintly of tobacco.
“But I thought I was removed from—”
“You still are,” he says. “But someone requested you. Their manager told us they wouldn’t talk to us if they didn’t get you.”
“What?”
He huffs out a short laugh. “Believe me, I was surprised too. Don’t know what they’re on about after the last time you talked to their client. Fuck this one up and you’re out, okay? Got it? The info’s in your inbox already.”
Somehow the words don’t quite sink in until you open the email and see the words on paper.

Vous me faites trop marrer. Toujours pareil.

Enrichir mon esprit me rend plus forte..
Je me souviens avoir pensé : "Me voilà une femme maintenant!".

By the side of Jessica Biel
Former star of 7th Heaven, Jessica is fulfilled: higher education, thriving career, and a doting boyfriend.
Origins: Jessica was born on March 3, 1982, in Minnesota and grew up in Colorado. She has just left Tufts University in Boston to pursue her studies in California, where she bought a condo.
Nicknames: Jess or Jessie. Nobody in my circle calls me Jessica. It's too long and too formal.
Breakthrough: Landing the role of Mary Camden in 7th Heaven in 1996. (No longer a regular cast member, she made guest appearances on the show.)
Where has she been seen? As a rebellious teenager in Ulee's Gold; Freddie Prinze Jr.'s love interest in Summer Catch; and a sexually adventurous student in The Rules of Attraction.
Upcoming projects: In October, she will star in a remake of the classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1975). "I'm a horror movie fan. It was great to work on this project. The role and the filming were the most demanding of my career."
Dream proposal: To perform in a Broadway musical, like Rent. (Last year, she appeared in a university production of Tommy.) "Music has always played a huge role in my life since childhood. It's my greatest passion."
Education: Going to university is not just about getting a degree, but primarily an experience. I learn things there that I wouldn't have learned otherwise. Enriching my mind makes me stronger.
"When I get bored with my hair, I change its color. But I also dye it according to the roles I play. Right now, it's dark brown, and in a few days, I'll go blonde."
A beautiful skin gift: At the age of 12, my mother gave me a skincare set for Christmas. I remember thinking, "Now I'm a woman!" I can never thank her enough for showing me how to take care of my skin. Today, I'm a true fanatic: cleanser, toner, moisturizer, plus an eye cream. And I always, always apply sunscreen during the day."
Confession: My boyfriend (Chris Evans, the star of Not Another Teen Movie!) hates lipstick, so I've switched to using lip balm.
Full of energy: "Exercise is an excellent stress reliever. I feel like I can get rid of all my worries if I exert myself. I do ballet every night—it's great for strengthening and stretching muscles. During the day, I go running in Santa Monica, go to the gym, or have a Bikram yoga session; I love it!"
"If you're as passionate about hair coloring as I am, it's important to deeply revitalize your hair. Once a week, I cover my head with conditioner and let it work under a cap. Sometimes, I get a professional treatment."
Sports galore: I love almost all sports. If someone is playing something, I'll join in. I played soccer throughout my studies; I would love to be part of an adult league."
Music: "I know a bunch of musicians with whom I'd like to form a band. I don't care about creating a million-selling hit. I just want to play good music that feels good."
Favorite clothing: Men's white undershirts, oversized. They go with everything.

LA girlie here who can speak to the Los Feliz comment about it being not as pap friendly/suburb etc.
LA is huge. There’s more mailing addresses that don’t say LA than there are that have Los Angeles in the addresses, despite that all of them are considered LA. Los Feliz, North Hollywood, Burbank, Encino are all apart of LA but have their own zip codes.
Los Feliz is interesting bc it’s both a fairly nice part of town but not to the level say Beverly Hills is. There’s some gorgeous old Hollywood mansions but there’s also tons of homeless people, older apartments that are nothing special or have fun character, and a mixed bag strip mall etc. Celebrities do live there (I believe Dax Sheppard and Kristen Bell famously live there) but it’s a pretty low key vibe.
And that’s the exact reason I’m writing, bc I’m sure many people don’t care about LA geography and zip codes but wanted to establish that for anyone who was curious 😂 It’s probably an attractive place for some celebrities to live bc it is low key. There’s a fun vibe-y strip that’s the “downtown” part of it, but there’s no Nobu or Ivy or anything like that. It’s NOT a paparazzi haven. So when I kept seeing Kaia doing her damn pap walks with yoga pants and/or green juices, I couldn’t stop rolling my eyes. Home girl/her team/whatever called the paps bc no paps hang out there- trust me I used to be there weekly if not more than that. It’s a quiet yet citified neighborhood with a few restaurants, bars, and shops of different genres but nothing too ritzy . There’s a diner called House of Pies across from a 7/11. It’s not fucking Rodeo drive. It’s beautiful, but it’s just a place with an assortment of people and establishments. Everyone has a story where they’ve seen a celebrity walking around there (I saw Pete Holmes once) but all anecdotes me or my friends have weren’t reported in the tabloids, in photos in magazines, or whatever bc it’s just celebrities living their lives away from paparazzi and that’s very doable in Los Feliz. It was the most absurd thing on earth to see 20 pictures of her outside Jenni’s ice cream as if she’s princess Diana bc that’s not the scene there.
Cannot speak to why Austin moved or Kaia’s thoughts on being there, but LOL to the idea that she just got randomly papped when she there. As if. LMFAO.
Hope this was fun/helpful/useful information.
LA girlie, thank you for commenting and adding in your valuable 2 cents! That was my understanding of Los Feliz, that it's a sort of "antiquated" vibe that has a lot of private residences and its away from the hustle and bustle of the main city y'know. I think that vibe fits Austin so well, which is why he lived there in the first place. And of course I remember as well Kaia calling the paps every damn time she was down in Los Feliz. That is not Austin's vibe at all, in my humble opinion.
This was extremely helpful, it's much appreciated! It's a shame he got papped outside the front door of his new home. This is the problem now that he is more inside the city. I'm sure Kaia is thriving now that he is more central to the action. But he seemed to enjoy living in Los Feliz. It's a quaint type of vibe, it's away from the paps, he can live his life in somewhat secrecy. But not anymore now that he moved. But anyway, thank you yet again for your comments!!

--
The girls never talk, preferring to let the diegetic sounds of their chosen fast-food joint fill the silence. But over the duration of each aesthetically riveting TikTok, anything can happen. Mangoes filled with ice cream grow on cactuses, whipped cream is plucked off the top of a drink and magicked away. With something for everyone (escapism meets foodie inspo meets cosplay meets mukbang meets ASMR meets comedy), they’re addictive. The girls are the best friends you wish you had. But are they mates or are they siblings? Are they family or are they dating? You want that drink, you want to know what the fuck is going on, you have to watch till the end. And then you watch another. (...)
It’s a bizarrely soothing experience, like watching someone divining the future from chicken bones in an internet age. For another video, they go pastoral. Munchie grinds an Oreo in a pestle and mortar then sprinkles the dust into a medium-sized pot of what appears to be dirt. Daintily, she digs into the biscuit-dust and pseudo-soil, then eats it. It has the same appeal as being a child and creating a potion, or actually eating earth in your garden.
Since starting 2girls1bottl3 on 15th September 2022, the props have gotten more elaborate: taller glasses, pinker drinks, the goops somehow goopier, the slimes and salts more involved, the themes campier, the nail art more intricate, more talon-like. While the cocktail assembly is still treated with blank-faced seriousness, there’s more surrounding slapstick. Munchie’s in the back going into mannequin mode. Munchie’s doggy paddling in a pool using a pink floaty. Munchie’s in a chicken shop wearing a chicken costume. Munchie’s wrapped in Christmas paper, emerging as a present. Like the work of any creative mavericks, M&M’s content has an instantly identifiable gloss.
Separately, the actions they do are nonsense, but together they become a pastiche of nonsense. What becomes clear in their symbolism is that we’re not in this world anymore. In our world, dirt isn’t edible. Entering Mixie and Munchie’s realm, you have the haunting sense of witnessing something important, peering through the veil and accidentally glimpsing something you’re too un-special to understand. (...)
They’re most comfortable defining themselves through their references. In the funniest 2girls1bottl3 video so far, the girls wear full black bodysuits in an homage to Kim and Kanye’s 2021 Met Gala Balenciaga moment (Munchie sniffs a fry through the suit). Paris and Nicole’s fingerprints are everywhere, from their velour hoodies to their fast food filming locations. The references keep coming: lifestyle content creator Avani Reyes is an inspiration, as is Euphoria, the Twilight saga, gyaru and other global subcultures, generally. “Japanese street style mag-azines like Fruits,” says Munchie.
If they ever filmed a movie, Munchie tells me it would be inspired by “this Japanese porn studio that gets all their girls dressed up in schoolgirl outfits. They do all these silent videos of them playing Jenga and doing yoga together. The way it’s shot is really creepy. It would be us doing mundane activities silently.”
Nicolaia Rips, from Who the hell are 2girls1bottl3?, for The Face, September 18, 2023.

What I did wrong and what Id do again [in my health journey]
What I did wrong, and what I’d do again [in my health journey] https://ift.tt/btKNVzq Hi friends! How’s the morning going? I hope you’re having a great one so far! Today, I’m cleaning up all of the patio furniture and getting it ready for swim season. Bring.it.on! I’m excited to head out for a yoga class in between client calls, too. For today’s post, I wanted to share more about my initial health journey. Newer reader friends (hi! hello!) may not know that I lost 40 lbs in college. This was long before I became a group fitness instructor, or personal trainer, or Integrative Health Practitioner… and I had to learn everything on my own, the hard way. This was also in the old ages, when blogs weren’t a thing. Everything I learned (good and bad) was through fitness magazines and stacks of health books I’d purchase from Barnes and Noble. When I reflect on my initial weight loss journey, I remember the snafus (like getting so sick after eating a pack of cooked chicken and a can of cold black beans lol) but I also feel proud of myself. I stuck with it, I wasn’t afraid to pivot when I realized things weren’t working, and I did a lot of things right. What I did wrong, and what I’d do again [in my health journey] Here are some of the things I did well, and are foundational habits I recommend to all of my clients: – More protein and whole foods. I started to emphasize protein in my diet, and I paid attention to the foods that were processed. I used to eat almost entirely processed foods (with the exception of dinner), and it felt so much better to eat food from the earth. I was sitll a poor college student, so I had a tight, tight budget, but I went for inexpensive options, like apples, yogurt, frozen veggies, bananas, jerky, and wraps that I could make at home. – Adding walking into my routine. Walking made me feel better almost instantly, and I also got the benefits from the sunshine, and a mood boost. – Started strength training. I had NO clue what I was doing, but my friend and I hired a personal trainer from LA Fitness. He gave questionable nutrition advice, but he taught me the basics of strength training. – Paid attention to a balanced plate and portion control. I learned that my plate couldn’t be entirely carbs and actually be satisfying, so I started to incorpoarte more I think it’s easy to remember that the classics are classics for a reason— they work! Simple changes that you can maintain for a long time are going to make the biggest difference. Mistakes: Here are some things that were difficult for me, and it took me many years to unravel the damage from some of these. – 3-5 hours of sleep per night. It wouldn’t be unusual for me to go to school all day, teach at the dance studio until 8pm, drive to the school library and study until 2 or 3am, and then drive back home, nap, and repeat. I did this for pretty much all of college. The weekends were for work (I alternated between two or three jobs), studying, and parties… no sleep for this girl. it’s no wonder I was exhausted, hormonal, and craved sugar and caffeine all the time. – Not addressing stress. I was under a lot of stress, and I didn’t realize the impacts that stress can have on immune system function, hormones, hunger levels, skin, sleep, and wellbeing. Stress management is huge, and can often play a role in preventing body composition changes. – Afraid of fats (even the healthy ones). “Health magazines” taught me that eating fats made you gain weight, so I avoided them for a long time. Nowawadays, it’s NBD to eat an entire avocado. – Took hormonal birth control. I know now that it was a horrible fit for me and masked many of the hormonal symptoms I was experiencing. When I stopped taking it, I felt like the clouds were lifted from my life. (

Catch Up with Zeal Creative Ambassador Gabe Rovick
We recently had the pleasure of interviewing Gabe Rovick, a Zeal Optics Creative Ambassador, in a recent Q&A session. Gabe, a skilled photographer and filmmaker responsible for capturing a significant portion of Zeal's visual content, shared insights into the life of a creative in the Outdoor Industry. Dive into the discussion below to learn more and to glean valuable advice for those aspiring to tread a similar path.
vimeo
Who are you, where are you from and how did you start as a photographer / Filmmaker?
I'm Gabe Rovick, a Colorado native. My journey in photography began in high school, where I took darkroom classes. I carried a camera everywhere when traveling. After studying at the Art Institute of Colorado, I landed an internship at David LaChapelle's studio in LA, which kickstarted my career in photography and filmmaking.
What type of work have you been doing this season?
This winter has been incredibly adventurous for me. I've been fortunate to collaborate with several prominent outdoor brands, focusing on documentary storytelling and photography. Among the brands I've worked with are Zeal Optics, Manduka Yoga, Osprey Packs, and Freeskier Magazine, to name a few. My work has led me to diverse environments, from capturing the serenity of yoga and surf sessions to the backcountry skiing with professional athletes. It's been an action packed season filled with exploration and creative collaboration.
How do you establish a connection with the athletes you document to showcase their individuality?
Establishing a genuine connection with the athletes I document is paramount to showcasing their individuality. I believe in building relationships beyond the lens, often spending time with them without the pressure of capturing photos or footage. By simply being present as a friend and fellow human being, I aim to understand their unique perspectives, passions, and the way they navigate the world.
Observing how they move and interact with their environment provides valuable insight into their individuality. Through conversations and shared experiences, I strive to create a sense of trust and camaraderie. This foundation of trust fosters a more authentic portrayal of their personalities and allows our energies to align, resulting in compelling storytelling that reflects the true essence of the athletes I document.
Can you share a recent memorable experience you've had while working with an athlete?
One recent experience that stands out vividly in my mind is the time I spent with Gerry Lopez. Gerry's legendary status in the surfing world precedes him, but what struck me most was his unwavering dedication to his yoga practice and his contagious zest for life.
Spending time with Gerry, watching him gracefully move through his yoga routines, was nothing short of inspiring. Despite being nearly twice my age, Gerry exuded a youthful enthusiasm and a profound sense of presence that left a powerful impression on me.
During our interviews and interactions, I found myself drawn to Gerry's wisdom and authenticity. His genuine passion for living fully and embracing each moment with gratitude was visible, and I couldn't help but feel a deep sense of connection to his philosophy.
Leaving each shoot with Gerry filled me with excitement and joy, knowing that I had been in the presence of a true luminary—a beacon of light in our world. Gerry Lopez's radiant energy continues to resonate with me, serving as a reminder to approach life with Aloha!
One of my favorite quotes from our interview was “Keep Paddling, eventually you will get to where you are going.” Gerry Lopez
How do you handle the challenges of shooting while having to capture unpredictable environments?
Handling the challenges of shooting in unpredictable environments, especially with athletes and in nature, requires flexibility and resilience. Conditions can change rapidly, from weather to the mood or health of the athletes. It's essential to approach each shoot with an open mind and a willingness to adapt.
Patience is key, although it's something I've had to work on. Setting high expectations for myself can add pressure, but I’ve been practicing a lot of meditation in order to remain calm and trust the process. Recently, I've shifted my perspective, seeing these challenges as opportunities rather than obstacles. Embracing the unpredictability as a gift allows me to fully immerse myself in the experience and strengthen my connections with both the subjects and nature itself. It's a continual process of learning and growth, but it's incredibly rewarding.
What type of athletes do you work with?
it’s truly is a full spectrum of athletes ranging from skiers, snowboarders, climbers and surfers to endurance athletes, bikers, and trail runners.
How do you stay inspired and keep your work fresh?
To stay inspired and keep my work fresh, I prioritize continuous learning and exploration. I read extensively and follow other creatives, always seeking new perspectives. I enjoy challenging myself in areas where I'm not the most proficient, as it keeps me humble and fuels growth. Additionally, I'm a tech enthusiast and love experimenting with new equipment and technology, which adds excitement and innovation to my work.
In your opinion, what makes a successful photo of a professional athlete?
In my opinion, a successful photo of a professional athlete captures the essence of their dedication and passion for their craft. It's about getting up close and personal.
Sometimes, it's about capturing an intimate portrait that reveals the raw emotion and determination in their eyes. Other times, it's about nailing that perfect action shot during the golden hour when the light is just right.
Ultimately, when both the photographer and the athlete are deeply connected to the pursuit, it becomes difficult to fail.

-->Leggi i comunicati dell'area Vortici Magazine Network Read the full article
