Title: Effortless 5-Minute Makeup Routine for Everyday Wear
Welcome, makeup enthusiasts! Today, I’ll guide you through a swift yet stunning and simple makeup routine that’s perfect for those busy mornings or when you need a quick touch-up before stepping out.
Step 1: Prep Your Canvas (1 minute)Start with a clean face. Apply a dime-sized amount of primer evenly across your face using your fingertips. I recommend Milk Makeup’s Hydro Grip Primer as it is perfect for both oily and dry skin. This step helps your makeup stay put throughout the day.
Step 2: Foundation or Tinted Moisturizer (1 minute)Opt for a lightweight foundation or tinted moisturizer that matches your skin tone. I use L.A girl matte foundation and it works ✨wonders✨. Apply it in dots across your face – forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin. Blend it outwards using a makeup sponge or brush for a seamless finish. (Don’t forget to blend down to your collarbone for a more natural transition!)
Step 3: Conceal and Brighten (1 minute)Dab a small amount of concealer in the inner and outer corners your eyes, on any blemishes, or areas needing extra coverage. Gently blend it with a wet beauty blender or your fingertips to achieve a natural, even skin tone. Don’t forget to use a translucent powder to avoid creases in areas such as the under eye, nose, above jawline, and forehead.
Step 4: Add a Flush of Color (1 minute)For a natural flush, use a cream blush or a multitasking lip and cheek tint. The liquid blush by Rare Beauty works fantastic, due to the amount of tint I recommend using at most 2 dots for a soft but visible look. Apply it to the apples of your cheeks and blend it outwards for a rosy, healthy glow.
Step 5: Define Those Lashes and Lips (1 minute). Curl those lashes ladies!! Then coat your lashes with a lengthening or volumizing mascara. You never want to apply mascara before curling your lashes as there is a risk of your eyelashes falling out with the eyelash curler. Wiggle the wand at the base of your lashes and comb through for definition. Finish off with a swipe of tinted lip balm or a nude lipstick for a subtle pop of color.
Bonus Step (if time allows)If you have an extra moment, lightly fill in your brows using a brow pencil or gel for added definition. You can use your concealer to further define your brows by placing a small amount lining the bottom and top of your eyebrows, blending it all in with a wet(damp) beauty blender.
Last step(never forget) LADIES SET YOUR MAKEUP PLEASE!!! After any routine don’t forget to use a simple but effective setting spray. Setting spray helps the makeup stay in place for longer periods and keeps your makeup looking fresh without having to touch up your makeup as often. The best setting spray to use is the Rare Beauty Always an Optimist 4-in-1 Mist, it hydrates, primes, sets, and refreshes for an uplifting glow-boost that lasts.
And voila! In just 5 minutes, you’ve achieved a fresh, radiant look to tackle the day. Remember, practice makes perfect, so feel free to personalize this routine to suit your style and preferences.
Stay fabulous,
Bre🤍

Pluto’s “Appearance” guide for 2023!
Last year when I entered 2022, I had no clue what or where I wanted to be by the end of the year. After I turned 22, I began my journey in manifesting & from November 4th, 2022 to today, December 29th, 2022, everything that I’ve wanted, I’ve received. Today I’ve decided to set in stone the things I want to be for next year as sort of a time capsule to look back on! Welcome to Pluto’s “Appearance” guide to 2023!
Lookbook:
As a person who is still affected by their childhood trauma, a major difficulty I face is allowing myself to be vulnerable with the way I express myself. Whether it is through clothing, accessorizing, hair, or makeup. I present myself as more as a tomboy, in hopes to deter the male gaze. However, recently through this blog, I’ve allowed myself to express my love for pink and I realized just how much I loveeeeee girly shit. In 2023, I will make room for the girl in me who loves all the sparkly, glittery, girl stuff while still keeping a bit of my tomboy style. Here are some examples:
Some key essentials for my closet in 2023 will be:
Oversized Hoodies & Varsity Jackets
Oversized Shirts, Cargos & Sweatpants
White Nike Socks
Two piece sets (shirts + shorts)
Shoes:
New Balances
Yeezy Slides in Tan
Yeezy Foam Runners in Tan
Air Jordan 1s (no specific color way)
Nike Dunks (no specific color way)
Bapestas (no specific color way)
Platform Converses (no specific color way)
Accessories:
Silver Jewelry!
The Marc Jacobs Tote Bag in Tan or any Tan tote bag
The Sony WH 1000 mx 4’s in silver
Colors:
For 2023, while I know pink will rule my year fashion wise, I hope to incorporate colors like below into my fashion. I am a girl who is used to relying on darker colors in hopes to avoid bringing attention to herself. However, over the ending months of 2022, I realized that as long as I output positive energy, I will receive positive energy and attention on myself. In 2023, I will no longer allow myself to shy away from anyone.
Makeup:
Okay so, I have a odd relationship with makeup. While I love it, I absolutely hate how foundations look on me. So in 2022, I experimented with some makeup brands and created a “full makeup , no makeup” starter kit for myself! The products I will swear by are:
Danessa Myrick’s “Blurring Balm Powder” in color 9
L.A. Girl Pro Concealer in shade “Toast”
Any Eyebrow pencil
Any dark brown lip liner
Any clear lip gloss
Any Strip Lashes
So because I have oily skin, I don’t use a primer or a setting spray / powder. To prep my skin I use a Vitamin E oil and a Collagen oil. The “Blurring Balm Powder” actually makes my skin look EXTREMELY matte and lasts all day!
Hair:
Beyond the fashion things, I do want to express myself with my hair also! I have ginger shoulder length locs now so by the end of the year I want my hair to be touching my upper back (so I can start using claw clips). Some hairstyles / colors I’ll like to try out are:

Test Drives: Tatcha, CTZN & Face Atelier
It’s a new month and that means it’s time for some more Test Drives! Since it’s ridiculously hot out and the 4th of July, I decided to do a very simple makeup look that is ultra sheer so that my face doesn’t melt off before the fireworks begin! In my previous Test Drives post, I mentioned how there were a few items that I played with for that look which were pretty cool and deserved their own review article. And those are going to be items that I’m reviewing today. I’ll be covering Tatcha’s The Silk Canvas, CTZN’s Nudiversal Lip Duos and Face Atelier’s Face Finish setting spray. As usual, I’ll outline which items were gifted to me by the brand and which I purchased. Full details on my makeup look will be at the end of this post.
Tatcha The Silk Canvas (purchased)
Okay so in a previous Test Drives post, I reviewed E.L.F. Cosmetics’ Poreless Putty Primer. And while I liked it, I wasn’t able to address whether it was a true dupe to Tatcha’s The Silk Canvas because I didn’t have that product to compare it to. But, I ended up going out and buying the travel size version of The Silk Canvas last month. Now that I’ve used both, I can honestly say that there is no comparison between The Silk Canvas and Poreless Putty Primer.
While E.L.F.’s dupe is a faithful attempt to capture the essence of what Tatcha’s product promises on and delivers, E.L.F.’s is definitely different and the experience between the two is noticeable. First off, E.L.F.’s primer applies wet/damp and then dries down. And if you’re heavy handed, it’s hard to properly buff it in as you’re left with weird beads of product all over your face. Plus while it is a faithful primer that offers a solid base for makeup applications, it did feel a little heavy as opposed to a traditional silicone primer like Smashbox or even E.L.F.’s other bottle-based primers.
In contrast, The Silk Canvas is really lightweight and breathable. Yes, a little goes a long way so you still shouldn’t be caking it on, but it buffs out easier. And most importantly, it doesn’t go on wet. It’s a true velvet-like balm. If I was going to recommend a true dupe to Tatcha’s The Silk Canvas, it would be Veil Cosmetics’ Automatte because of the texture, application and finish.
My only complaint about The SIlk Canvas is exactly the same as what I had with E.L.F.’s Poreless Putty Primer. Considering the extreme price difference between Tatcha and E.L.F., would it have killed the brand to include an applicator sponge?!
CTZN Nudiversal Lip Duo in Mexico City & Maldives (gifted)
Everyone knows that “nude” is subjective. So, often enough when a brand claims to make a nude lip, that “nude” can be pretty narrowly applied to one specific segment of the population—fair skinned people. But CTZN is turning that around with a ridiculous number of shades that actually are nude for a variety of skin tones. With 25 shades to choose from, there’s truly a nude out there for you within their collection. I ended up picking both Mexico City and Maldives. For today’s look, I wore Mexico City as a base and added a small swipe of Maldives to add a bit of warmer color. And as you can see from the pic, this is truly my nude.
I love that these nudes are dual ended. So, if you prefer a more matte effect, you can go with the lipstick. However, it’s a very hydrating matte—so no dry etched out lip lines! And then if you prefer more of a sheen, choose the lip gloss end. I opted for the matte side because I’m still stuck on mattes for the most part these days.
Another thing that I love is that, while it is an online brand, they took the time to photograph models of various skin tones wearing each of the 25 shades so you could clearly see how each shade will look on the tone closest to yours. And for the curious, the reason I ended up picking the two hues I did is because for a true nude effect, my skin tone fell between both of these shades and I couldn’t choose between the two.
Face Atelier Face Finish (gifted)
It’s summer and that means that you need to be properly prepping and finishing your face if you’re trying to wear a full look in hot weather. Face Finish from Face Atelier is meant to serve as a prep, setting, and refresh spray—giving you more bang for your buck. If you’re going to use it as a prep, spray it onto your face before you begin to apply makeup. And for setting or refreshing, simply spritz over your face after you finish your makeup or throughout the day so that your look lasts as long as you do.
I think this is a pretty great product with almost no scent (there is a bit of a cucumber smell in there so if you’re scent sensitive beware). My only complaint is that the spray isn’t a soft mist but rather a forceful stream. So, try not to spray it too close to your face otherwise you can end up wet rather than dewy as it dries down.
Final Thoughts
This is one of those Test Drives where I genuinely loved everything I tested. I definitely think the comparison between E.L.F.’s Poreless Putty Primer and Tatcha’s The Silk Canvas are greatly exaggerated—and I wanted to believe the hype. There’s just no comparison between the two, so I’m not sure who started that rumor but they need to stop spreading it. CTZN is an awesome brand for focusing on true inclusivity with a beauty niche that can be really complicated. And Face Atelier’s Face Finish is a great way to set your look. And the small size means you can easily take it with you when you’re out for the day or if you’re traveling.

Hey doll hey!!!! I;m getting off to a very late start today. Last night I had a hard time staying asleep because of the pain. When this happens, us spoonies call this painsomnia. I woke up almost every 30 minutes… when I finally got to sleep it must have been 4 in the morning… and I slept through the alarm, waking up around 11:30 am…. I hate when I get a late start. Today we revisit Pixi Cosmetics, I’m testing out the Beauty Balm and how the concealer works over corrector. So let’s get started.
Base: I primed today using the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Primer ($38 on their website). I preped my pores and between my brows with ELF Poreless Putty Primer ($8 on their website). I color corrected using Tarte CC Undereye Corrector ($25 at Ulta) in Light-Medium. For foundation today I am using the Pixi by Petra Beauty Balm High Coverage Foundation ($22 at Target and on their website) in the color No. 2 Nude. I concealed my eyes using Pixi by Petra Pat Away Concealing Base ($16 at Target and on their website) in the color Nude. I set my under eyes using RCMA No Color Powder ($15 on the Beautylish website). And then lightly set the rest of my face with Pixi by Petra Colour Correcting Powder Foundation ($20 at Target and on their website) in the color No. 2 Nude. I warmed up my face using Pixi by Petra Beauty Bronzer ($18 at Target and on their website) in the color Summertime.
Eyes: I primed my lids using Tarte Shape Tape ($27 at Ulta) in the color Light-Medium Honey. I set my lids with Wet n Wild Color Icon ($.99 at Walgreens) in the color Brulee. I used the Pixi by Petra Hello Beautiful Face Case ($24 at Target and on their website) in the color way Hello L.A. Angel! for the rest of my eye look. For my transition color I chose the color Casual (a mid-toned peachy coral matte). For my crease I chose the color Boardwalk (a mid-toned true brown matte). I also took this color down to the outer 1/2 of my mobile lid. I used a combination of Boardwalk and L.A. Night (a true black matte) for my outer v and outer 1/3 of my mobile lid. For my remaining 1/2 of my mobile lid I chose the color Sand (a soft gold shimmer). On the outer 1/3 of my mobile lid I used the color Sunset (a deep brown with copper reflects shimmer). To blend the inner and outer 1/3 of the mobile lid I chose the color Free (a coppery gold shimmer). I chose not to line or drop shadow my lower lash line. I lined my waterlines using NYX Faux Whites Eye Liner ($8 at Ulta) in the color Linen. I did my brows using the Pixi by Petra Endless Brow Gel Pen ($11 at Target and on their website) in the color Dark and then followed that up with the Pixi by Petra Brow Tammer ($10 at Target and on their website) in clear. I carved out my brow line using the BH Studio Pro Brow Highlighter ($5 on their website) on the matte side and then set the brow line using the color Clean (a creamy white matte). I primed my lashes using Loreal Voluminous Base ($6.79 at Target) and then followed that up with the Pixi by Petra Lash Booster Mascara ($15 at Target and on their website) in black.
Cheeks and Lips: I used the Pixi By Petra Hello Beautiful Face Case again for my blush I used a combination of both blushes from the palette. I highlighted between my brows, tops of my cheeks, and Cupid’s Bow using the Pixi and Rachel Loves collabroation palette called The Layers Highlighter Palette ($24 at Target and on their website) in Glow On. I used the color Clutch (a pale champagne)> I lined my lips with NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner ($4 at Ulta and on their website) in the color Whipped Caviar and then I filled my lips in with Pixi by Petra MatteLast Liquid Lip ($14 at Target and on their website) in the color Au Naturella (an orange based coral) and then I topped the center of my lips with NARS Lip Gloss ($24 at Sephora and on their website) in the color Turkish Delight (a milky light pink).
Final Thoughts: This will be a small product review as I reviewed the full line of products on my blog post from yesterday … You can read the review here -> Pixi Full Face Review ….
Pixi by Petra Beauty Balm High Coverage Foundation: A+++!!! This foundation comes in 6 shades, 2 for deeper skin tones. You get 1.70 fluid ounces of product. This foundation is beautiful!!! I used 2 pumps to cover my full face and neck. This product is billed as a medium to full coverage foundation and that is the truth. It is medium coverage that can be built up to full coverage with out looking splotchy. This is a very hydrating foundation that does need to be set down. I dusted just a light wash of powder and that worked perfectly. Out of all my CC and BB cream styled foundations I would say this will end up being my favorite one. It left my skin looking so pretty and it was a great match that does not oxidize. I can already tell this is going to be a foundation that I keep in my collection always.
Pixi by Petra Pat Away Concealing Base: A+++!! I am so loving this concealer. I did notice that it did sink into my fine lines before I set the concealer and I think that is because I used a corrector before I put down the concealer. In any case this is a beautiful concealer for under the eyes. It’s hydrating and full coverage and blends in so wonderfully.
Pixi by Petra Colour Correcting Powder Foundation: A+ Yesterday I rated this one an A- because it made my skin look dry like the desert…. However today I went in with a lighter hand and this powder actually made my face look beautiful. It gave soft focus look to the face. Even though I used a light dusting of the powder it still set my foundation down all the way. I am liking this powder when used like I used it today.
Pixi by Petra MatteLast Liquid Lip: A This lipstick comes in 14 shades. You get .24 ounces of product. This is a comfortable matte lipstick that does not transfer and does not get crumbly. It has an orange creamsicle scent to it. It did not feather and it fades down evenly. I am contemplating picking up a few more shades. This lip product was much better than the one I used yesterday.
Well that’s all for now dolls. Hope you are having a great day and remember save a spoon for a bit of lipstick.
XOXO
Pixi Cosmetics Revisited Face of the Day Hey doll hey!!!! I;m getting off to a very late start today. Last night I had a hard time staying asleep because of the pain.

MARGOT ROBBIE ON BEAUTY, SHOWER BEERS, AND BEST FRIENDS, 2016
We’re guessing this has been said before, but Margot Robbie may just be one of the most down-to-earth actors we’ve had the opportunity to interview. Not to mention that she’s even prettier and nicer IRL than you could possibly expect. We say all this because, as you can imagine, we were kind of nervous when we found ourselves heading uptown to meet with Robbie on the Monday after Thanksgiving, when our turkey brain was still in full effect. But all of that dissipated the moment we arrived to find her lounging barefoot on the couch, recounting the tale of showing up to her friend’s Thanksgiving with Jägerbombs in tow. Yeah, we told you she was chill.
We were there primarily to chat with Robbie about being named the latest face of Calvin Klein’s fragrance, deep euphoria, but couldn’t help but ask her about everything from her in-flight beauty advice and go-to dry shampoo, to ginger shots and shower beers. You could say it was a well-rounded conversation. Fast-forward to later that evening, as we put on our fanciest and headed out to join Robbie and Calvin Klein at a star-studded awards dinner celebrating IFP’s Gotham Awards—basically the Oscars of independent film, which brings light to what are sure to be the best movies of the year. All in all, it was definitely the most glamorous Monday we’ve had in a while. Or ever.
On celebrating American Thanksgiving:
“My friends and I are like orphans in L.A., so we jumped on someone else’s Thanksgiving dinner and it ended up being far more extravagant [than we expected]. We thought it was just going to be the five of us getting drunk, so we brought Jägerbombs, but there were kids at the table! We were like, ‘Okay! We’re gonna hide this bottle of Jäger.’ Because clearly, this is not the kind of Thanksgiving we are at. Of course, the Australians show up at this lovely family affair ready to get drunk, right? It was really, really nice though. We were thinking Jägerbombs to wrap up the evening, kind of counteract the sleepiness of the turkey.”
Why being the face of Calvin Klein’s deep euphoria reminds her of home:
“I’m really stoked to be the face of Calvin Klein deep euphoria. A few other opportunities had come up that I passed on because I didn’t know the brand very well or liked their products—I don’t want to endorse something I don't genuinely like because then I’ll feel like a real idiot. So when this came up it was perfect! I love Calvin Klein and their perfumes, all the women in my family wear Calvin Klein perfumes so it reminds me of home.
“When I first smelled deep euphoria I wasn’t sure I was going to start wearing it, but then I had the bottle and I kept wearing it and getting compliments. I smell a bit of rose, but it also has muskiness to keep it more subtle. It’s not too overbearing and it feels feminine enough without being sweet. I’m not super girly, but I still like having a feminine side. I want my boyfriend to be like, ‘Oh, you smell good.’ It’s also one of those perfumes that both guys and girls like the smell of.”
On confidence boosters (in the form of perfume and bubbles):
“I always feel better and more confident when I’m wearing perfume. To counteract nerves before an event or red carpet, I drink a glass of champagne. I don’t get ready on my own in dead silence because then I’m a basket case of nerves by the time I get there. I always have, like, six of my girlfriends over and they always bring champagne, so we have a glass of bubbles and chat. If I’m getting my makeup done, I can’t really be chatting but just listening to everyone’s stories and focusing on other people’s shit instead of your own helps.”
“I don’t want to be surrounded by people who are like, ‘What are you thinking? What are you feeling? What are you wearing? You, you, you.’ One thing I noticed early on is that some actors get surrounded by people who only focus on them—I’d be much more self-conscious if questions were constantly about what I’m doing. I just enjoy surrounding myself with people who aren’t in the industry. That’s key, and music and champagne, lots of ‘lols.’ I’ll just chill and then it’s fun and doesn’t feel like work, it feels like a pre-game!”
Her favorite makeup look and trick:
“If I have a big night out, I always get sweaty and gross, so less makeup is better—that way I won’t have eyeliner running down my face. If I’m wearing a red lip, I need to be doing nothing that night, just going to a very calm dinner and straight home. Otherwise I will have lipstick everywhere. I keep it pretty simple and natural because when I do more intense makeup it tends to look worse on me.
“When you do photo shoots and they want the look to be beachy, like you are not wearing any makeup—but actually you are wearing a ton of makeup—they draw your freckles on [over foundation]. They just dot on freckles with an eyebrow pencil and it looks like you are not wearing any makeup because your freckles are shining through. It’s my favorite thing they do—you feel younger and like you’ve been out in the sun, it looks amazing.”
What it’s like being on set and traveling non-stop:
“[Free time] is just nonexistent. Honestly, I make work fun because I do genuinely love working and I do it a lot. My best friend is my assistant, so that way, even if we have to do something we don’t want to, at least I’m still there with my best friend and everything becomes an adventure. If she is not there then I’ll bring [my boyfriend] Tom [Ackerley] with me, so if I’m going for work it still feels like a holiday.
“When I travel I catch up with friends because I’ve got groups of friends in New York, London, and L.A., and my family and friends back home [in Australia]. If I’m in a totally random city and haven’t been before, I get the Wallpaper* City Guides and follow the ‘24 hours in this city,’ which maps your day out. Like, 8AM, go to this café and order this, then go to this gallery at 11 AM and walk through this park. I get a nice overview of all the cool things to do and a feel for the city instead of going somewhere touristy.”
On combating jet lag and hands-free traveling:
“I use Aesop Ginger Flight Therapy on my temples and wrists. It’s meant to help with jet lag—I don’t know if it does but I like the smell of it so I do it anyway. In L.A., because you can’t throw a stick without hitting a juice bar, I get immune booster shots with ginger and turmeric, and I do genuinely think they help!
“If I can fit my things in my pockets, I won’t bring a bag with me. But generally you’d find my phone, lip balm, and wallet in there. I have my cards on a money clip so it can fit in my pockets. I like to travel light.”
What she drinks in the morning and right before bed:
“Tea and tea. I drink so much tea. I don’t really like coffee. I drink it if I’m getting a migraine because sometimes a shot of caffeine can help. But I drink a lot of tea. Dilmah black tea is my favorite brand of tea! Like a nerd I carry it around with me everywhere—if you are a tea drinker you always have your specific kind with you. My roommates will only drink PG Tips because they are Londoners and I’ll only drink Dilmah because that is what I had growing up. So we’ll all carry around our box of tea bags—it’s ridiculous.
“I do drink a lot of water, too. Sometimes, after work, I’ll have a beer in the bath—a bath beer! If I don’t think I’m going to fall asleep, I’ll have a really hot bath and a really cold beer and then float off to bed. Oh my god, it’s the nicest thing! Or a beer shower, I’ll do that as well. It’s like a baby’s bottle before bed.”
Her top 5 hero beauty products:
1. Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balms: I’m obsessed with them.
2. Peter Thomas Roth Max Complexion Correction Pads: I always get on a plane with these. As soon as I sit down on a flight I take my makeup off and then I have these little pads and my face is squeaky-clean afterwards.
3. Aesop Immediate Moisture Facial Hydrosol: I always have this in my handbag and spray it on my face throughout the day.
4. Laura Mercier Creme Cheek Color: I put some of this on my eyelids as an eyeshadow and on my cheeks as well. I saw my makeup artist doing it on me and was like ‘Oh, that is really clever!’One less product I have to worry about.
5. Klorane Dry Shampoo: This is the shit. If you’ve got blonde hair it’s the best because it covers your roots and makes it look like you just got them done, when really it’s just a ton of dry shampoo.

Test Drives: A Golden Blast from the Past
Have you ever scrolled through your phone and found an old makeup look that you absolutely loved? This is what happened to me over the weekend and I stumbled across a look that I created back in 2016 that I wanted to recreate. So, in today’s Test Drive, I’m reviewing reviewing four new products to recreate a gold inspired look. On the left is the new version I created this weekend, and on the right is the original from 2016.
Today I’ll be reviewing Crown Pro 10 Color Fuego Palette, E.L.F. Cosmetics’ Poreless Putty Primer & Sheer Blurring Under Eye Primer, and Sara Happ’s Let’s Glow Lip Illuminator. As usual, I’ll share what was purchased versus gifted. So, let’s get right to it!
E.L.F. Cosmetics Poreless Putty Primer (purchased)
So if you have your finger on the pulse of beauty dupes, you know that E.L.F.’s Poreless Putty Primer has been a cult favorite as the ultimate dupe for Tatcha’s The Silk Canvas. The concept is fairly simple. Apply the primer and let set for 30 seconds before applying your makeup for a flawless finish. E.L.F.’s primer is infused with squalane to help ensure moisture without causing an oily effect. Full disclosure, I haven’t tested Tatcha’s The Silk Canvas so I can’t compare the two. However...
What I Like:
The primer is truly lightweight and even though it has a very moist feeling when first applied, it dries down nicely. Also, the primer is billed as universally sheer—which it is. To be honest when you first apply it, it can feel like it’s going to leave you shiny. But as you continue applying makeup, everything magically balances out for a nice seamless effect.
What could be better:
I always feel like if you’re going to sell someone a compact, it should come with an applicator. Otherwise, how exactly are you supposed to apply this? Sure, you can use your fingers. But if you don’t like using your fingers you might be left at a loss as to how to apply the product. I ended up using a flat-sided sponge to gently press the primer into my skin.
Something to keep in mind: The directions tell you to use a thin layer and you absolutely should. If you attempt to over do it with this primer it’ll end up caking and leaving gross product beads on your skin. This happened to me a little bit around my temples. It’s easy to wipe off, but better that you don’t find yourself in this scenario at all.
E.L.F. Cosmetics Sheer Blurring Under Eye Primer (purchased)
If you’re like me, you have slight bags and a bit of discoloration under your eyes that always needs to be corrected if you’re going to wear makeup. So, anything that can help product stick better in that area is a good thing. The Sheer Blurring Under Eye Primer helps to hide puffiness and fine lines for a smooth under eye effect.
What I liked:
Everything I liked about this particular primer are basically the same things I loved about the Poreless Putty Primer. It’s easy to use, and blends out nicely without leaving an awkward ashen effect—even on darker skin tones.
What could be better:
Much like the other E.L.F. product in this review, I hate that this doesn’t come with an applicator. I’m not a person who likes to do finger applications. And having to allocate sponges or brushes on my own can be irritating.
Crown Pro 10 Color Fuego Palette (purchased)
Even though today’s look featured two different shadows that are top secret from a project I’m working on, the base shade and center lid color are from this Crown Brush Pro palette that I bought at The Makeup Show last week. Although I’ve used Crown brushes before, this is the first time I’m using their makeup.
What I love:
Crown’s shadows are finely milled and highly pigmented, which makes them ideal to work with, and offer minimal fallout. This particular palette caught my eye at The Makeup Show because it includes five matte and five shimmer shades that are a beautiful mix of earthy yet warm tones. And I think that these colors are ideal for all skin tones.
What could be better:
Nothing, I really liked this palette!
Sara Happ Let’s Glow Lip Illuminator in Golden (gifted)
The final item for review is this cool Lip Illuminator from Sara Happ. The concept is that if you love the look of illuminators for your cheeks or other areas of your face, you can give your lips that same effect with a hydrating shimmer balm. When applied lightly, it offers a sheer effect, but if you do like I did—you create a megawatt style.
What I liked:
Now when I created this look back in 2016, I didn’t have a gold lip color. So, I used an eye shadow from E.L.F. The look was nice, but yeah...that lip was drying. So, the ultra hydrating Sara Happ lip option was amazingly better. What I love is that this lip never dries down. Also, it only required two coats to get to this level of high beam wattage. And finally, the Sara Happ lip is a warm gold so it’s far more suitable for a variety of skin tones than the cold hued gold of my original look.
What could be better:
Nothing, it was a really great product and super hydrating.
My Verdict:
For the most part, I liked everything that I tested out in today’s look. There were no losers this time! What I really loved is that I was able to take an ambitious look that I originally created in 2016, and was able to make it a tad more wearable, and less harsh than the original. Mainly, I swapped out the cold gold hues from the first look and made it warmer while also creating more definition and depth on my cheeks than in the first. Full makeup details below.
