"I love you so.." || CONFESSING AFTER THEY GET SICK
cw: nb/fem/masc! reader
Parings: Kagura x reader, Yuki x reader <3
KAGURA:
You laid next to Kagura, scrolling on your phone in one hand as your other laid a cold pack to her forehead. She had overworked herself by cooking a bunch of food for the Sohma's ever since Kyo got back.
♡ "What am I going to do with you? Once you set your mind towards something it's like I can't even stop you!"
You let out a small chuckle and she reciprocated by playfully shooing you.
"You're so lucky I can't show you my gratitude in this condition!! How will I thank you?"
Sighing a nervous breath you reached over to place your hand in hers, thankfully she hasn't pulled her hand away yet. You looked at her with adoration, the time was now.
♡ "How about, an outing? We get together and we go watch this new movie! Or you could.. consider it a date? If you want. I really like you Kagura, you're beautiful and considerate. I just want to show you the affection you give other people, you deserve it."
She looked at you with a shocked expression, a mix of melancholy and relief. Like she had been waiting for you.
"Of course! I can't go like this now can I? I might transform in the middle of the theatre!" Kagura giggled before sneezing and looked at you.
"Stay with me?" She held out a hand, you gladly took it.
YUKI:
You caught him sleeping in the living room futon with a high fever, you told him it wasn't a good idea to go out in the rain but he persisted. He sat up to talk to you as the hot soup you were heating up wasn't ready yet.
"I'm fine, truly! I.. aah ACHOO!"
You rolled your eyes playfully at him and gently pushed him back so he was laying down.
♡ "Sure, sure. Whatever helps you sleep at night."
He sighed and shook his head. "I can't be late tomorrow, can you help me? I'll do my best to repay you, of course- choo!" Another sneeze.
♡ "No way, you are definitely not going in this condition. Besides, I'm happy to help you! You mean a lot to me."
He felt his heartstrings being tugged at, or was that because of the sickness? Who knows. You got a bucket and filled it with cold water, you sat next to Yuki and dipped a towel in. After squeezing the water out; you placed it on his forehead.
♡ "Sorry, you're gonna be here for a while Sohma."
He sighed, he looked at you with a grateful smile though. Always kind.
"Thank you anyways, I appreciate your help. It has been more manageable with you here." You gave a little smile to him.
♡ "In my opinion, everything is a lot more manageable when you're around. That's why I'm so drawn to you, you're so sweet to be around."
It's now or never.
♡ "I really like you."
His heart raced, Yuki stared at you with a bit of worry and unease. But it soon turned into a soft expression, a longing one. "I was worried you didn't feel the same, guess I was wrong." He reached up and caressed a piece of your hair near your face.
"I suppose a date is in order then?"
You happily nodded. "You gotta get some sleep though! I'll be waiting, Yuki."
"Y..Yuki.." He mumbled as he fell backwards.
A giant poof appeared as blue smoke appeared, a rat landed onto the pillow with a small 'plop'. He was asleep.
♡ "Sweet dreams."
// hope you enjoyed!! I felt like it was ooc, but that's just my opinion ꒰⑅ᵕ༚ᵕ꒱˖♡ //

kyo soma x reader
‧₊˚ ⋅ 🍓 ᓚᘏᗢ 🫐‧₊ .ᐟ
{ Angst/Fluff }
summary: reader has some bad memories pop up and becomes submerged in a bad ptsd episode and panic attack. kyo comes home from the store and finds them disheveled and lost. He comforts them and grounds them. post curse being lifted from the sohma’s.
warnings/TW: mention of abuse
it was a calm spring day, the trees were blossoming and the air was crisp. you were cleaning in the kitchen and humming along to a song playing on the radio. your mind was going elsewhere and thinking of your life. it had been almost 3 years since you moved in with kyo. it really didn't feel like that long. everyday that passed was cherished and your heart was full. you were grateful and loved him more than anyone in your life. you never expected to be with kyo. to be cared for and cherished without doubt. to feel held even when you were apart from one another. he never judged you or put you down. he did so much for you without even knowing it. he would wake up before you and just watch you sleep. he would walk up behind you while you were cooking dinner and wrap his arms around your waist. whisper sweet nothings, things he would never say aloud. he gave this look when you told him about your day, a look that made you feel safe and at home. it was such a foreign feeling, to be loved. you thought of your life before meeting the soma family and you shivered. your life before him. goosebumps appeared on your skin.
" you're a liar and a bitch! i could never love you. you aren't my daughter, i dont know you. disgusting child. no one will ever love you. "
the memory flashed in your head. that voice crystal clear and replaying over and over. your stomach felt sick and your body froze. so many years went by and you were stuck hearing things like that. no one saved you or seemed to care so you must've deserved it. you felt small and scared, the memories all rushing to you at once. so much progress had been made, but you kept going back to square one. your hands felt like jelly and the plate you were holding fell to the floor with a crash. surprised, you snapped out of your daydream. you crouched and hid your face in your knees, sobbing and screaming. so many emotions came over you in such a short amount of time. hurt and wounded from the pain your parents put you though. it haunted you and never truly went away. you wanted your boyfriend. you needed kyo right now. where was he? you couldn't remember and you felt frightened and alone.
" kyo... " you whimpered his name out. the air around you felt like it was thick and heavy. suffocating. your breathing was quick and your head felt light. you heard something thud and footsteps come toward you.
" y/n! " kyo's voice. your boyfriend was home. he rushed to your side and pushed your legs down and away from your chest. he lifted your face to meet his and your tears welled up again. you started to sob and mumble incoherently. you looked like a child to soma and he pulled you into his chest. petting your soft hair and speaking in a gentle voice.
" its okay, i'm here now. i've got you baby, "
you clung to him and started to calm down. his heartbeat was loud in his chest and it grounded you. the smell of his shirt mixed with his own scent. he took deep breaths, hoping you would match his rythym. kyo rested his cheek on your head, softly he hummed along to the radio. you were so exhausted you weren't even thinking about anything anymore. just being in your boyfriend's presence relaxed you. he took over all your thoughts. you felt better when he was around, protected and safe.
" thank you kyo, " you mumbled. he rubbed a hand on your back, it was soothing. he waited a little longer before parting to help you up. he held you again while you stood. your arms wrapped around his torso and you buried your face in his chest. soma kissed your head.
" do you...wanna talk about it? " he hesitated, but knew he would at least offer. you looked up to him and shook your head.
" just wanna cuddle. please? " you asked, swallowing dryly. kyo nodded and moved your bodies so you were behind him. you looked down to the porcelain scattered across the kitchen floor. fuck, you remembered.
" i'll clean this up, go on to the bedroom okay? i'll be right there with you. " he reassured you. before you could even argue he shooed you off. you sulked to your room and changed into some soft sweats and a tshirt. you turned on your mood lighting and curled up under the covers. your eyes fluttered shut as you waited for your love. he got into bed beside you and held you close. petting your hair, rubbing his hand along your back and arm. you felt yourself drifting to sleep, not wanting to sleep but you needed it.
" m'love you...sleepy. " you mumbled into your boyfriend's chest. he smiled and kissed your head.
" i love you so much . " he spoke softly, his voice low. you two stayed like that for a few hours, napping into the evening. when you woke up you were back to your usual temperament, annoyed at kyo for letting you nap instead of starting on dinner. he laughed at your puffy face from sleeping, you couldn't help but smile. you leaned in and kissed his lips. he held your lower back, humming against the kiss. you felt at peace with your lover and couldn't ask for more.
a/n: this is like 2 years old!!! but i’m reentering my fruba phase and wanted to post this :P if you read this thank yew!🩷i hope it fulfills the kyo obsession teehee

I am almost done with season 2 of Fruits Basket and I am in love with Kazuma and Ayame Sohma. The contrast of their characters is perfection and I keep daydreaming them meeting, mixing Kazuma's kind and level-headed temperament with Ayame's flamboyant nature. It just has my heart aflutter.
I have this au thrumming inside my head of Kazuma recognizing that Ayame is genuinely trying to make amends with his brother Yuki and sees the good in him, meanwhile Ayame definitely think Kazuma is cute and allows him to bring out a soft side of him.
(Also, could you imagine the family outings of Kazuma, Kyo, Ayame, and Yuki??? Ahhhhh 💜💙)
Anyway, here is my fanart of them meeting each other that first time in my delulu, just a magical moment they shared.

fateful encounter
paring: Ayame Sohma x Kazuma Sohma summary: Kazuma meets someone during the parent-teacher conference that changes everything. warnings: no warnings, just gay pining word count: 2.1k+ author’s note: This is the kind of thing that lives rent free in my head and I thought I would share it. I plan on doing a Fruits Basket au about the two of them, but I have other things I need to finish. Also, I always draw Ayame blushing like a slut and thought I would show Kazuma's reaction (below). Repost from ao3, art by me! 💜
Love cannot be forced, love cannot be coaxed and teased. It comes out of the heaven, unmasked and unsought. -Pearl S. Buck
The day was waning away with the last of the students, and their parents, filtering out of the classrooms after they finished their scheduled parent-teacher conference. Kazuma, always patient, always amiable, stepped forward with his son in tow only to be halted by a storm that barreled through the hallway.
Kazuma remained at Kyo’s side, hugging a little closer to the wall to allow the mother of Yuki Sohma to push past with a sneer carved on her sharp features, the clack of her heels echoing off the linoleum. Yuki was following after her, the remorseful gray of his eyes downcast, a slouched petitance with his steps as if he was weighed down by her rude actions, though Kazuma would never hold the young man accountable for them.
“The actions of others are never about you,” he had told Kyo years ago when he first brought the boy home. “They are only acting for themselves, never for you.”
He wondered if anyone had ever told this to Yuki.
The mother and son entered the classroom, taking their time slot, and the door slid shut behind them, leaving Kazuma and Kyo alone to wait once again. He looked down at Kyo and was surprised by the empathy that was twisting into the scowl his son always carried–the red on his nose and cheeks clashing with the mess of his hair. Kyo was vibrating with a struggled composure, his eyes trained through the window slit on the door while every muscle ticked in his features, listening in on the rise and fall of that woman’s voice.
She was muffled, but her arrogance still cut through, speaking over the teacher and drowning out her son.
Kazuma followed Kyo’s line of sight to see Yuki seated at his mother’s side, wilting away with each word. The boy was stricken silent, pale and beaten, far too world-weary for someone his age.
It pulled at his heartstrings.
“Do you know that boy?” Kazuma asked.
His question was soft, just a tentative touch to understand the emotions that were playing across Kyo’s face. Kazuma knew who Yuki Sohma was–everyone at the estate knew who Yuki Sohma was–but he also knew of the rivalry between his son and the rat. It was something deep seeded when he found Kyo, a foundation from centuries passed, something that festered a hatred that burned as red as his hair.
Which was why his son’s sudden rigid posture caught him off guard. He saw how Kyo steeled his jaw and clenched his fists as he watched Yuki, but Kaziuma knew that his visceral response was a different kind of aggravation that unknowingly unearthed itself.
To anyone else it would just seem like the continued animosity between the cat and the rat, but Kazuma knew his son, knew his kind heart beneath the fusion of guilt and rage. He could decipher the empathy that was lining Kyo’s furrowed brow, bleeding from his crimson eyes and pouring over Yuki.
This kindness showed more often since his friendship with the girl named Tohru began, a frequency to a freshly compassion that always thrummed beneath. It was a look that called to Kazuma, alighting his savior complex, but instead he paused, wanting to understand the reaction unfolding in front of his eyes.
He was curious to see if his son truly wished to help the boy.
So Kazuma waited.
“He clearly does not want her to speak for him, and she does not care about anything he has to say.” Kyo was quiet, careful to knit his words together with his dawning realization, a newfound perspective on his lifelong adversary. “Yuki seems so…”
Wounded. But Kazuma did not say this out loud; he never wanted to persuade an original thought from his son, but always allowed Kyo to come to his own conclusion and then support whatever he decided on.
“I see now that he is not as fortunate as me,” Kyo finished, looking up at him.
Kazuma was not expecting that train of thought and it struck him with a warmth that pooled into his chest, swelling his heart against his ribs. It confirmed the compassion he always knew existed within his son, something blossoming with Tohru, something vibrant albeit fleeting.
But still, it returned, and it always lingered a little bit longer each time.
Kazuma said nothing in response, but shifted closer to wrap his arm around Kyo’s shoulders, pulling him for a hug against his side. His son begrudgingly leaned into it, his embarrassment burning bright from the public display of affection despite the hallway being empty save for them.
“Perhaps Yuki could use some help,” Kazuma offered, tucking his chin down; Kyo nodded in return, his eyes avoiding.
He smiled as he let go of Kyo with the good intention to step forward, to go help Yuki, only to be halted yet again but this time by the grandiose entrance of a man with silver hair.
Kazuma felt rooted, captivated by the almost ethereal beauty that the man possessed. His hair was pulled back and flowed with his steps, a determination and a grace with his gate, and the subtle sway of his slender hips that pulled Kazuma’s gaze. The man was lithe and lean, dressed in rich, burgundy fabrics that complemented his figure, his ivory complexion that was flawless and glowing, his exquisite features surely carved from marble.
His proximity pulled the air from Kazuma’s chest as he breezed past without sparing him a look–it even had Kyo averting his eyes. A floral scent followed after from the bouquet of roses he carried, his delicate fingers wrapped around the bundled stems.
Kazuma watched as he pulled open the door with flourish, his voice lyrical as he announced himself.
“Greetings, all! I have finally arrived!”
The door slid closed behind him and Kazuma mourned the barrier between. He felt in a daze from the vision, propped against the wall by the silence and emptiness the man left behind, settling over like a fog. His abstract gaze fell back to Kyo to see the familiar scowl burrowing back on his features, his eyes boring through the floor at his feet. Kazuma remained quiet, wordless, enraptured; he shifted his weight, daring to peer through the same window to try and catch another glimpse of the silver haired beauty.
He saw that the man had forced himself between Yuki and his mother–a knight serving, bold and defending. He was squared off towards her, guarding the young man from her hateful stare with a taunting curl to his lips.
It left Kazuma flustered.
For as long as Kazuma remembered, romance was never something that came easily for him. He had a sweetheart while he was attending school, someone who just followed after him aimlessly and who always pressed for something more; when he did not reciprocate, they rightly moved onto someone else who would.
It did not fare better as an adult, but Kazuma still accepted whatever set-up was managed, often encouraged by Kyo. He did not care for the meet-ups, as too often they seemed daunted, almost annoyed with the topic of his son.
It rarely, if ever, reached a second date.
Kazuma never minded this, though. Despite his amorous shortcomings, he was still a romantic at heart, and it was encouraged by the books that Shigure would often drop off. It gave a rose tint to his life and beyond those pages, when he noticed the slow burn between his son and Tohru, he tried to tactfully approach the subject.
Kyo scoffed at him, demanding that he keep his focus on finding someone to finally settle down with.
“‘Love cannot be forced, love cannot be coaxed and teased,’” Kazuma began a quote which had Kyo groaning, rolling his eyes. “‘It comes out of the heaven, unmasked and unsought.’”
Kyo tsked. “What do you even mean by that?”
“You will understand that when you are older,” he teased.
In truth, the idea of dating, muchless to fall in love, was something that Kazuma no longer bothered himself with, but that was before this very moment when he watched the moon incarnate waltz in starlight through the school hallways with the subtle sway of his hips.
Even with the door drawn shit, Kazuma still felt the pull of the man’s proximity through the classroom walls, and it was vibrating his bones beneath, entangling, enrapturing, pulling him out along with the tides.
Kyo noticed the immediate change. “Are you all right?” The concern in his son’s voice broke through his thoughts and Kazuma straightened himself, the blood pouring into his face. “You look…flushed.”
In truth, his throat felt dry, clawing for the words to reply, but fortunately the door opened once again. This time it was Yuki’s mother rushing from the room, her fury red on her face and her hands shaking to smooth away the wrinkles from her blazer and skirt with her frantic steps to get away.
Yuki was quick to follow after her, propelled by some epiphany ablaze, something that now held his shoulders higher than before.
Kyo watched after him for a moment before he looked back up at Kazuma, his worry anew. “You can follow after him and make sure he is all right, if you want,” Kazuma suggested, though he knew that his son was not asking for permission, but for reassurance of what was plainly written on his face.
Kyo nodded and followed after, but kept a mindful distance, leaving Kazuma alone again in the hallway. Only then did he dare to look through the now open door, his heart pounding.
Kazuma saw the teacher who seemed drained, but sat up straight once she noticed his gaze, peering through the roses she was gifted. “Oh! I’m so sorry to keep you waiting! We can begin if you’re ready–” she pushed to stand and the silver haired man followed, turning to see who she was speaking to.
Kazuma fell back into the trance from before, the stars swirling and blurring around him. He swallowed, his blood coursing, and he felt pinned in the doorway by the molten golden eyes that poured over him.
“Oh my!” the silver haired man’s musical tone began, a touch of pink to his cheeks. “Did my dastardly mother’s inconsideration cause a delay in your scheduled time with this wondrous educator?” –the teacher muted her groan, burying her face back into the bouquet– “I would apologize on that woman’s behalf, but I know that she will surely repeat her ghastly behavior!”
There was a passion with each syllable that left Kazuma entranced, pulsing with his heartbeat. “It’s all right,” he gave a sheepish smile, his cheeks staining red from the rhythmic bruising of his heart against his chest. He forced himself to look back at the teacher. “We can begin when Kyo comes back.”
The man brightened with the name, his eyelashes fluttering with an impish smile. “Oh, oh, are you the father of Kyokichi?”
Kazuma chuckled at the pet name, knowing already how Kyo would hate it. “Yes I am. My name is Kazuma.”
“What a pleasure it is to meet you finally!” The man pressed closer with the same flowery scent, subtle and sweeping away the air around them. Kazuma felt his head buzzing, relishing in the sight of the pink dust on the man’s cheeks. He looked down to see his hand was offered. “I am Yuki’s brother, Ayame.”
His touch was a welcomed contrast to the warmth and calluses of Kazuma’s palms, delicate and soft and cool, something that set his nerves alight. The simple gesture shattered whatever contentment he believed to have before meeting Ayame, splintering his insides and rushing to the surface, pushing sharp against his skin.
Kazuma never wanted to let go of him; he wanted to cradle Ayame’s hand and run his fingertips along the lines that carved into his palm, to interlace his fingers and see how they would fit within his own.
And Kazuma realized he found something he had not even realized had been missing.
He surfaced from that thought, jolting back to attention. Ayame had not pulled away but was watching him carefully, coyly from beneath his long silver lashes.
Relief washed over, hope widening Kazuma’s smile, white against his crimson features. “The pleasure is truly mine, Ayame-sama.”
Ayame’s laughter was just as lovely, just as melodic, trilling up the length of Kazuma’s spine. “None of that! You may call me Aya-chan, if you would prefer. Since your son and my brother are beginning their affinity for one another, I feel we are destined to become,” –his lips ticked upwards in the corner of his mouth– “closer acquaintances.”
There was nothing Kazuma wanted more.

You know, in my opinion, I think what makes Tohru's and Kyo's relationship work so well is that they're really two halves of the same coin. At their core, they're two lonely little kids who are learning that they deserve to be loved and that it's okay to want to be loved.
And I know you could say that about the Sohma's in general, yk, the majority of them are incredibly lonely and most of them also have a hard time accepting love or feeling deserving of love. But i think what brings them together is they have both carried the burdens of other people FOR SO LONG
Tohru, from the time she was a little girl after her dad died, tried so hard to fix her mother's broken heart and her grief. She imitated her father in the hopes that she could alleviate her mother's pain, that she would see her father in her and it would help her mother feel as if he were still around. It's what makes her who she is - such a self-sacrificing and giving person who opens her heart to everyone in need.
From the time he was born, Kyo has been the zodiac's scapegoat. Shigure even says the zodiacs are monsters, and it helps to know there's someone worse than them. His whole purpose because of the curse is to essentially martyr himself for the zodiacs and to live his life in a cell. He is uniquely isolated from the family just because he exists.
I think it's so important that these two people who've been conditioned that others matter more than they do found each other and show each other constantly that they matter to each other. it's just

Looking at the Yukeru tags has reignited a passion within me to write gay people fanfiction of my favorite anime of all time and I'm so glad I randomly found "Little Miss Perfect" in my Spotify reccomended and got reminded of the animatic that Emirichu made and Caleb Hyles sang the cover of for Yuki and Kakeru earlier because otherwise I wouldn't have remembered my favorite little duo ever and got a reason to rewatch Fruits Basket + look at fanart of the pathetic wet cat boy that is Yuki Sohma
(And also honorable mention to the literal wet cat boy Kyo, bless his heart oml. He's so silly.)

Fruits Basket (2019-2021) - Thoughts! ✨
I have just finished watching Fruits Basket from the 1st Season to the Final Season (+ Prelude), and it has left me feeling empty... So here's a thing or two of what I think about the series!
Fruits Basket was BEYOND my expectations! It taught me many things: perseverance, forgiveness, acceptance, and kindness. Everything about this series was AMAZING! I hate that I used to think it was just a typical, overrated romance anime when I now have grown emotionally attached to it.
—
For a show remade & readapted from the older version, the animation team did an incredible job recreating Fruits Basket (2019-2021).
The fluid plot, the complex characters and their backstories & relationships, the bitter conflicts and final resolutions… everything was just excellent!
—
Tohru Honda was easily the most beloved protagonist, because who wouldn't love her when she emits all the good things a character can do. Her existence in the series was like a ray of hope. And this is significant for other conflicted & traumatized characters around her.
She's such a wonderfully written character, and I love her so much! ❤
—
Other characters—Kyo, Yuki, & the Sohmas—had their own shares of struggles. It's painful to see, and my heart wrenched upon learning their pasts that made them the way they were.
Even Akito had a deep-rooted trauma of his (?) own. Being special since born apparently was not a privilege; it's a burden. Akito may be twisted in the mind, but he was also deeply wounded on the inside, and I couldn't bring myself to hate him.
—
All in all, Fruits Basket was a very delightful, and peak Shoujo anime. I enjoyed it through and through! I hope to see more shows as amazing as this one in the future! ☺🌸

Especially when you consider how carefree Ayame seems, it's easy to forget just how horrible his/Yuki's parents are.
Upon my recent rewatch of the 2019 reboot, I was thinking about that scene from season 1, when Momiji gifts Tohru a visit to an onsen for White Day, and she and Yuki have a little heart-to-heart outside. This is right after he leaves the scene where Tohru makes an epic miss on that ping-pong shot from Kyo, and Yuki feels bad about laughing in front of her, so he goes outside to do it.
When she kindly says "you could have laughed in front of me", he replies by saying "I've never even laughed like this in front of my parents".
Just think about how devastating that is, and the level of emotional repression that that implies about Yuki...a teenager has never been able to laugh uninhibitedly and act carefree in front of his parents? To the extent that when he sees his friend make a hilarious miss in a game of ping pong, he feels the need to go and hide his true joy/light-heartedness (of course, I'm sure part of it was due to him not wanting to hurt Tohru's feelings, but I don't think that would have been the full story)?
At this point in the season, we've already seen how others perceive Yuki as closed-off, but it's too simplistic to blame this solely on the curse, because as we grow to understand, the curse is actually a vehicle for emotional isolation. And not just for Yuki but several others as well. It's not just that Yuki and the other Sohmas are closed off from members of the opposite sex...they're closed off from everyone, by way of Akito's manipulation and the understanding that if anyone got to know their true selves, that they'd be "sickened". When in reality, the sight of Yuki's true smile is one that makes Tohru so curious to learn more about the "hidden" sides of him.
It's just truly heartbreaking to think about.

Fruits Basket Sticker Collection (2008) Scans
Fruits Basket (FB) is one of my all time favorite shoujo manga, and I was so excited to get my hands on an unused copy of this sticker book from 2008!
This main trio makes me so nostalgic. And the Tokyopop logo is SO iconic.
I've always been more of a digital consumer of manga, so I initially read Fruits Basket entirely online from fan-made and fan-translated scans.
I have very fond memories of coming home from school every night and logging onto the family computer to binge as many chapters of FB as I could before dinner. One day my dad gave me his old laptop, since I was the one mostly hogging the family computer.
I was SO excited.
I immediately made my background Shigure themed.
I liked Shigure a lot since he was the year of the dog, just like me.
And you bet I spent all my free time on my clunky early 2000s hand-me-down laptop binging the FB manga, watching the FB anime (in three parts on YouTube, of course), and consuming every FB fanfic and fanart I could find online.
All that to say, this manga holds a special place in my heart. I find myself going back every couple of years and re-reading it.
It truly is such a quintessential y2k shoujo experience.
。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°。°
Even though this book is titled as a sticker book, it contains more than stickers. As seen in the tagline on the front page, this book also includes pin-ups and temporary tattoos.
Not sure why they only have stickers in the title, I guess that's just more of an attention grabber than pin-ups or temporary tattoos would be.
This book has a hard cover and spiral-bound pages. Because of this, it was actually a bit tricky to scan.
I was able to crop out the spiral for most of the pages, as it wouldn't interfere with the overall image of the page, but I did keep it visible on the title page scan.
Every time I tried cropping it for this page, I felt it took too much away from Kyo's portrait.
So I just let it be.
The first part of the book consists of "pin-ups" of Tohru and the Sohma family.
I will say, pin-up is a bit of an odd word to use. I think something like 'mini posters' would've worked as a better descriptor for what is actually inside the book.
I think most Western audiences associate the word "pin-up" with the image of a sexualized or risqué photo.
But in this case, I think it's meant innocently as a picture that can be "pinned up" on a wall...even though that's basically the same reason for the name behind the the sexualized photos...
Either way, it's a bit funny when it's brought up in a PG setting.
Anyways, the pin-up photos in the book are all loose inside clear paper protector sheets. I think it's a neat, thoughtful way to make the pictures safe and accessible.
Ignore the cafalla.com watermark - that was from when I had a .com blog! But it is still me, and this is still my photo lol.
It's a bit hard to tell from the photo, but these pictures are in plastic sheet protectors, and you can slide the paper in and out from the side.
If you wanted to take a specific picture out, you needn't worry about ripping or ruining them while trying to remove them from the book.
So I really appreciate that detail.
Because of this, scanning these pages was an easy experience. The front page of the "pin-up" depicts art of the character from the manga, and the back of the page has a little bio about the character.
Here is Tohru's front and back page.
As for the Sohma family, they are the same, except they also show a little drawing of their animal form on the back.
Here are Yuki and Kyo's pages.
The book continues with pages for each member of the Sohma family, plus Akito.
I'm surprised Tohru's friends Arisa and Saki weren't included, as they are also pretty frequently appearing characters...more so than some of the family members.
I'm looking at you, Ritsu.

I really adore that the manga art was used for this whole book. The original anime has that early 2000s charm, but I much prefer the manga artwork for this series.
We're going to see a lot of it with the stickers and temporary tattoos, which follow the pin-up photos.
I'm not sure why, but all the sticker and temporary tattoo pages have a similar layout (which you will see), with the exception of this one sticker page.
Not sure why this one page has a cell phone theme and TONS of tiny stickers, but it's cute!
Again, this was a page where it was hard to cut out the spiral without cutting off parts of the stickers located close to it. So I left it in the scan.
Here are the other sticker sheets!
And here are the temporary tattoo sheets!
So cute!!
And like I said, I love that this is all artwork from the manga.
My favorite is the group sticker on the green sheet, where Tohru is wearing the red plaid skirt.
I vividly remember that chapter spread because I adored her outfit. Black, red, and plaid aren't really colors/patterns Tohru wears, and I think they compliment her so much. I also adored how all the boys' outfits matched the same color scheme and aesthetic.

There we have it, the Fruits Basket sticker (and pin-up...and temporary tattoo) collection!
The whole book is scanned and available for viewing on my Internet Archive account! So please go check it out if you want to see more.
I've also uploaded just the photo scans on my photoblog: nostalgiahime. So if you like to reblog just the photos, please go check it out!
Thanks for stopping by!

2 with kyoru please:)
2: A kiss on the nose (OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OK CALM DOWN OH MY GOD) ~ It's with mixed feelings that Kyo realizes he has only one month left in Shigure's house. His first instinct is to ignore the overwhelming thoughts, but he knows better by now. So he lets himself feel. There's relief, of course. Relief that finally, after all this time, he's going to be free. He's going to be out of his last Sohma home, and he's going to be living without Sohma intervention, and even though being in his family is much easier now, it's still a huge weight off his shoulders knowing he's going to be out. There's excitement, too. He and Tohru are about to start a brand new life, just the two of them. Every time he thinks about it he can't stop himself from smiling. But, to his surprise, there's also a melancholy in his gut that he never expected. As he looks around his room, already mostly packed up, he realizes that a part of him is mourning the loss of the life he lived here. This house was Ground Zero for all of his growing pains. It hurt, being here, for a really long time. But he became the man he is today because of this house and the people in it. He's still on shaky ground with Yuki, but it's much better than it was before. Now they can be in the same room without hitting each other, which is a true miracle. He sometimes even thinks they might be real friends one day.
Even Shigure helped him. A little. Kind of. But of course, most importantly.....this house is where he met her. Tohru.
"Kyo-kun?" He turns around to find her standing in the doorway, and he can't control the smile that engulfs his face.
"I was just thinking about you," he says, reaching for her hand, which she immediately accepts. "Oh?" "Yeah, I was just thinking about how difficult it's gonna be to live with you." He only allows her to look surprised for a second before he laughs and reassures her. "I'm kidding. I've lived with you for years. And I'm so excited to start our new life together." Her demeanor instantly changes. She smiles, and her cheeks turn pink. "Me too," she says softly. God. He loves her so much. Her fingers squirm a little in his hand, and he raises an eyebrow. "You okay?"
"What? Oh! Yes! I just..." she bites her lip. "I just want to make sure you're alright." "Me? Why wouldn't I be?" Tohru looks into his eyes, and his heart does cartwheels, as usual. "It's just that I know this house gives you mixed feelings, and I wanted you to know that I understand." He shouldn't be surprised anymore that Tohru knows exactly what he's thinking. "I'll be okay," he says, "I'd give this place up a million times if it means being with you." She gazes around his room, taking in the boxes and the half packed belongings. "I'll miss it here too," she admits. "Hey," he says. Once he's sure she's looking at him, he swoops in and gives her nose a kiss. "We'll be okay. As long as we're together, right?" She blinks and touches her nose where he'd kissed it. And then, she smiles like the sunshine. "Yes," she says, "As long as we're together."

Let's Talk About Kyoru!
I shared a little while ago (in my first-ever analysis post!) that I don't really have a lot in common with Tohru or Kyo, and I didn't really "get" them or their relationship right away. Today, someone asked on Reddit "What are your personal thoughts on Kyou x Tohru?" and I wrote out a long comment explaining how I grew to love them. So, here's an expanded and edited version of that comment, edited for Tumblr!
I loved both Tohru and Kyo as characters from the start. How could I not? Kyo is an endlessly meme-able, over-the-top tsundere cat-boy with a heart of gold, and Tohru is a lovable, overly-giving people-pleaser who's also a total space cadet prone to some very funny mishaps (that are maybe a little less funny once you understand her character).
What I didn't see at first was how their romantic relationship was an essential part of both Tohru's and Kyo's character development. Their arcs couldn't really have ended any other way, with how Takaya-sensei set them up.
See, Tohru begins the series in denial about the reality of her mother's death and unable to ask for or accept help, even from those closest to her, and even when people offer their help or support up front. She risks her own health and even her life to avoid burdening others, likewise risking herself to protect her memory of her mother (represented by the framed photo).
And Kyo begins the series convinced defeating Yuki will erase his past "sins," or alleviate his guilt from both Kyoko's and his mother's deaths. It's a Sisyphean task and he knows it, but he keeps at it because it's better than the alternative (actually dealing with his trauma) and possibly because he thinks he deserves to suffer defeat after defeat. He's in an extremely fragile place, having just returned from his trip to the mountains, and he truly believes he only hurts the people he loves.
I also think there's some small part of Kyo that's fighting to keep going, even from the start of the series. It's a twisted way to go about living, but he is still trying to live. He has the possibility of a life outside the Cat's House, and he's working his ass off to try and achieve it, even if it's most likely impossible. To me, that's not a character who's given up or accepted his fate.
Similarly, I think there's a small part of Tohru that knows she'll eventually need to accept that her mother is dead and make the decisions that are best for herself. It's harder to see this inner desire in Tohru than in Kyo, but I think it becomes clear when she chooses to stay with the Sohmas rather than return to her grandfather's house. She believed, at that point, that her grandfather was the only person left who knew and loved her mother, yet she knew she would be happier continuing to live with Kyo, Yuki, and Shigure. With the encouragement of her grandfather (and with Kyo and Yuki's heroic rescue mission), she moves forward on the path that will make her happiest.
It took me really digging deep and understanding each of their individual arcs to love them as a couple as much as I do now.
On first pass, it was obvious to me how much Tohru meant to Kyo, and the ways she directly countered his extremely low self-esteem and overwhelming guilt. However, I didn't really understand what Tohru liked about Kyo in a romantic sense.
I think this was probably due to my own anxiousness around men who yell, which strongly put me off of Kyo as a romantic lead. I also didn't like how he promised to protect Tohru again at the end, but that was again due to my own hangups. I have a strong dislike of being "protected" by my romantic partners (it feels patronizing and usually is done without asking or considering my own feelings about being protected). But I'll come back to that.
We know from the start that Tohru tends to reject attempts to care for her, or simply makes sure no one will be in a position to offer that care to her. She doesn't ask to stay with either of her best friends and she doesn't remain with her family during the renovations.
And Kyo is the only person who not only recognizes when Tohru's diminishing her own needs, but he's also the only person who consistently makes sure she has the support she needs, even if she initially refuses it. He tells her it's okay to get angry, asks her to vent her frustrations to him, and reminds her it's okay to be selfish.
I think with anyone else, she would have burned herself out and cut off most of her uncomfortable emotions. Kyo takes care of Tohru, and that's what she needs, because Tohru Honda has very different needs than I do (and that's okay!).
Also, Kyo doesn't yell nearly as much after the first season, but something I realized while writing my series on Kyo and Momiji's relationship is that most of Kyo's yelling is him trying to protect her and the others he cares for (like Momiji). He yelled because he was terrified of hurting her again, or of letting her get hurt through inaction. He'd yell at her when she did something that could've gotten her hurt, or he'd yell at others when they did something that could hurt her. That poor boy was carrying so much guilt over Kyoko's death, he made it his entire personality to try and protect Tohru, including from himself.
At Kyoko's grave, when he promised to protect Tohru for life, I initially read that as a step backwards for him. Wasn't that just a recipe for more guilt? After all, he couldn't possibly protect her from everything. But after some reflection, I think that was him finally internalizing the lesson from that last fight with Yuki: he was protecting her all along by making her smile and being there for her. That's Kyo recognizing that his presence is good for Tohru, and it's a huge shift in how he sees himself and his own self-worth.
So that's really why Kyo and Tohru are so perfect together. Kyo needed someone to help him see his own worth, and Tohru did that simply by needing him. Meanwhile, Tohru needed to prioritize her own needs and happiness, and she did that by admitting how much she needed Kyo. It's a loop that feeds back into itself. The more they care for each other, the more they overcome their initial mistaken beliefs about themselves.
I once shared in response to an ask that I believe Tohru needed Kyo even more than he needed her. Thinking of how badly she was suffering during the hospital arc, when she thought he'd rejected her, and how much she repressed her heartbreak during that time, I think it would've destroyed her if he hadn't decided to try and move forward with her. It would've taken a long, long time before she would've been able to open up to anyone like that again, and she may not have been able to ever again, given how hard it was for her to admit her feelings for Kyo in the first place.
So, I love them. Took me a while, but I'm fully aboard the Kyoru train now.

also everyday i keep on endlessly replaying that kyo sohma and tohru honda fruits basket scene in my head. because i feel like i really need to integrate the message from it into my life. kyo sohma, has a monstrous side. and to him, having that side accepted as well was ESSENTIAL to his development- but having that side rejected for another time would've pushed him past the brink of no return.
idk, character stories like that deeply hurt my heart. i can't imagine the pain of never being seen for the entirety of who you are, so many times kyo was only accepted for parts that were approved of by others, yet had his other aspects rejected; or had many of his parts denied and dismissed, sometimes even reviled. like goddamn kazuma sensei, he really threw the kid a lifeline.
#personal#fruits basket messes me up everyday#none of the sohmas deserved the shit they went thru. but kyo??? that shit crazy. the way they treat the cats is nuts

Just a quick ficlet for kyoru week 2023 cause I wanted to write something.
8/22 home movies @kyoruweekofficial
It’s more of a kyoru family story. Idk the idea is cute to me lol
“Hey mom, watcha doin’?” The six-year-old questions.
The woman stops wiping the shelf. “Oh, just tidying up.”
“What’s those?” The child points to a set of DVD jackets. “Movies?”
“Sort of, they’re home movies. You know, like when we record videos on our camera? These are of events we like to keep.”
“Can we watch one?”
“Sure. Why don’t you pick?” The child picks a random disc and hands it to their mom. “Oh, this is of my graduation,” the woman reminisces as she pops it into the Blue-Ray player.
They curl up on the couch as the video rolls with mom narrating for the little girl. The video was taken when she graduated from high school and her parents held a big party at the Sohma compound. Many were there, like uncle Mutsuki and his parents uncle Yuki and aunt Machi, uncle Hatsu and aunt Rin with daughters Sora and Riku, even uncle Shiki came considering he wasn’t fond of parties. Of course, aunty Akito and uncle Shigure had to attend as the heads of the clan, but it was nice to see them since they rarely left the compound anymore. She names off the relatives as they appear on camera, often pausing to answer questions because the little girl has never met many of the older generations that have passed on.
“Who’s that next to you and papa Hajime,” the child points at the elderly couple who are standing next to her grandfather.
“That’s grandpa’s parents. They’re your great-grandparents, grandma Tohru and grandpa Kyo.”
“Oh, they look so old, but so cute still holding hands.”
The woman chuckles, “well, they are in their 80s.” She sighs, “I wish you could’ve met them. You look a little like grandma Tohru when she was a young girl.” A bit of moisture clouds her vision as she reminisces. “Lets’ see, grandma passed away about 8 years after this, and your grandpa followed a year later. My parents believed with his heart gone, grandpa didn’t have the will to keep living.”
“That’s impossible,” the child looks up at her mom with concern, “how can a heart just disappear from,” she points to her chest.
“No, not like that.” The woman laughs. “They’re talking about your great-grandmother. Grandma Tohru was his heart. Great-grandpa loved her more than anything else in this world because she saved him from the Sohma monster.”
The child turns to look at her mom again, this time with an indignant glare. “Mom,” she crosses her arms. “A monster, seriously? Monster’s aren’t real so that makes no sense.”
Before responding, the woman pauses the video and pulls her daughter onto her lap. “Have I ever told you the story of the zodiac?” The child shakes her head no. “Do you want to hear it?”
“Yes!” The little girl bounces in excitement.
The mom moves her back to the couch, gets up and goes to another room. She comes back in a couple minutes holding an old wooden box and sits back down next to her daughter. She then opens the lid to show the child the little animal figurines inside, worn with age, but still discernible for what they represent. But there was one odd piece in the box.
“Mom, why’s there a wooden rice ball with a bunch of animals?”
“I’m glad you asked,” the mom talks as she pulls out the figurines of the rice ball and an orange cat, placing it in the little girls cupped hands. “These represent your grandma Tohru,” she points to the rice ball, “and grandpa Kyo,” she points to the cat. “The rest of the animals make up the zodiac.”
The child gives her a mom a confused look which gains a chuckle from her mother.
“Don’t worry, it’ll be explained in the story.” The woman takes the figurines from her daughter, puts them back in the box, and puts the box aside. “Now where should I begin?” She thinks for a moment. “A very long time ago, there was a god…”

top 5 ships
Hey hey ♡ thank you very much for this difficult ask :') Because how can my shipper heart limit itself to only 5 ships?
Okay, it's hard for me to choose but here we go:
1. Kyoru (Kyo Sohma x Honda Tohru from "Fruits Basket") - Ahhh they evoke so many feelings in me! I absolutely love their relationship and how deep their feelings for each other are. How many times did they make me cry while watching anime and reading manga! They have been through so much and deserve to be happy. Yeah, Kyo and Tohru have a special place in my heart.
2. Sakuatsu (Sakusa Kiyoomi x Miya Atsumu from "Haikyuu!") - I came across this ship by accident in some Haikyuu fanfic. I didn't even know they were a thing, but I liked their dynamics in fics so much that I've fallen in the rabbit hole for months, even years. A day without Sakuatsu fic was a wasted day and they are the reason I started writing fics. I love that no one can stand them except each other, so they are perfect for each other. And their bickering is my weakness.
3. Tododeku (Todoroki Shoto x Midoryia Izuku from "My Hero Academia") - I have a fondness for this ship because they made me addicted to reading fanfiction. Although the manga has not been favorable to Tododeku shippers for a long time, nothing will take away from their initial interactions, how Midoriya changed Todoroki's life and the latter later began to always support him. (and sports festival always is in my mind)
4. Shiguang (Cheng Xioaoshi x Lu Guang from "Link Click") - They are simply soulmates! You just look at them and you know. Their devotion to each other makes me want to scream. No one will tell me it's just friendship. One would sacrifice everything for the other, even the future of the entire world. I love them. And they love each other.
5. Zosan (Ronoroa Zoro x Blackleg Sanji from "One Piece"). I haven't even watched the anime, I haven't read the manga, I only know Live Action 😭😭😭 But I absolutely fell in love with this duo, which has become my current obsession. They are equals!!! And for me this is a sign of a good ship. And their bickerking - ahhh something beautiful! Seriously, for the last few months I've been mainly reading fics with this ship. The fics are so good and the fanarts are so beautiful that I'm really tempted to take up anime and find something to do for the next few years :')
Sorry, I got carried away:')
Anyway, have a nice day ♡
