“It’s just about winning one game…I will be with ya, whether that’s on the field for ten, twenty minutes or I’ll be cheering you from the sidelines. You know my role as a captain, as a senior member of this squad, is having to set an example. You can have setbacks in football. Of course I wanted to start in a Champions League final but it’s not about me.”
- Kyle Walker, Manchester City, 2023

I forgot Emerson is starting at left back. Yeah they’re in trouble LoL. 😞 Then I look at the starting lineups and I see Mount on the right wing…? I mean Chelsea v Chelsea, I get it, but really? Emerson will know Mount inside and out, that’s not really an advantage, which you’ll need early. (Watch him score first LoL)
And clearly Southgate is afraid of Maguire & Stones dealing with the Italian front line, which they should be given their mobility and unpredictability. People have been ragging on Immobile, but if you know him you know he’s a sporadic player who can go three games without a goal and then drop 2 in a half. Stones and Maguire struggle at times against dribblers, and they’ll face that in all three. That’s why he’s pulling a Tuchel and playing Walker next to Stones (shrewd move). Should be interesting, too bad I can’t watch it live! 😩 Enjoy everyone!

Watching Southampton/Brighton from last week (because the Sheffield United match somehow isn’t on Peacock yet). The more I watch Walker-Peters play in full matches, the more I understand why Spurs didn’t fancy him. He’s all over the place, he’s not good in possession; not the kind of player you want at right back when you’re sitting in 4th and looking to stay there. I’d sooner start Valery over him, hope Hasenhüttl doesn’t end up regretting leaving Valery out. So far it hasn’t cost him, but I feel that it will. I cite the Spurs match, they targeted him all day like other teams target Alexander-Arnold.
