Notagami > noragami
Can't believe we've had it wrong all this time
Literally. They literally told us how the rest of the series would go all the way back in 2016 and we laughed mocked and didn't listen. Next chapter I expect Kugaha to show up and reveal that he is now a hot woman in a mini dress

Noragami reread: Volume 3 & 4 thoughts
The next installment!
Fascinating how Yato swings Sekki at Nora as a "get out of my way" threat, but after she leaves he reveals he was just bluffing, and neither he nor Yukine say they ever want to do that (threaten to kill someone) again. Remember when in the anime he made Yukine kill that ayakashi girl? Reminding you for no reason in particular.
Since 3 is the Yukine volume, there's just a lot that ties into what happens once you learn his past...his constant feelings of abandonment manifesting as resentment toward everyone around him, Hiyori being the first one to name their relationship as father and son, the explicit paralleling of Manabu and Yukine as kids who were ostracized...Just pretty much everything about this volume hurts much worse when you know Yukine's past. Also, when the themes are consistent 🤌
I am so mentally ill over Yato and Yukine's relationship you wouldn't believe. They helped each other in the ways they always needed to be helped. Yato wishing he had someone who wouldn't leave him while Yukine is realizing the ones he had did leave him...I'm beating my fists against the ground. Oh my GOD this volume is a doozy.
I'm still curious about Nora attacking Hiyori after not paying attention to her at first. She only talked to Yato and Yukine, then shows up with an army of wolves to kill Hiyori. I assume she mentioned these companions to Father and he put her up to it? But then, why give up after only one attempt? When Nora attacks Yukine later in the series, it was something she did out of jealousy, not because Father told her to. (In fact, doesn't he scold her for it?)
Volume 4 picks right back up with the consistent foreshadowing/theme repetition I've observed. Mayu tells Yukine, "Be careful. The darkness is always right beside you." and he shudders, reflecting on the word "darkness." Yukine hates the dark, and hates giving in to his dark side, so this statement both shows his honest effort to improve and how, despite his intentions, it will overtake him again. Man.
The very next page, Mayu tells him to protect his master for his name's sake, and Yukine agrees to stake his name of "Yuki" on it. Thinking ahead, he was always motivated to protect Yato. But Yato went ahead with self-sacrifice anyway, and so Yukine's name wasn't good enough. He lost his stake, and had to search for a new name. I'm going to cry and this volume has barely started.
Yukine reflecting on Hiyori parting ways with him and not remembering him after hearing Suzuha's story makes me want to blow up.
The last thing for this volume is that interestingly, Kugaha's hair seems to be colored as black in his first appearance. In his later appearances, it's more two-toned. By the last chapter of this volume, it's fully light. Just an observation.
Here's some more quick Discord thoughts:

Hiyori and Fujisaki, Manga Coloring
"This is Yato's father. He's the one who used Kugaha to make Bishamon fall. The crafter who willfully murdered Ebisu-sama. The father... who's been making Yato kill people all this time."

Pixie Reads Noragami Volume 4::
This volume, while again not super distinct from the anime (first 1/3ish of the Bishamon arc) is definitely richer than the adaptation. I'll put my comments under the cut but here are some fun manga extras :)
Also this is my new favorite page: Yato looks like a cat, Yukine has his spirit back, and the fucking phantom tells a baby it has a unibrow just to be a dick xD
(I also have 5yen available to anyone who will take overnight baby duty fuckn hell man..)
I feel like the manga really did a better job of making sure the reader really understood Bishamon and Kazuma: that Bishamon feels lonely, misunderstood, and is still incredibly angry. She's not just out for vengeance for vengeance sake like I felt she was in the anime, she still hurts and hasn't really processed what happened before. She's using Yato as both a crutch (which she halfheartedly admitted to in the anime) but also as a shield to allow herself to keep making the same mistakes and not have to face them by pretending *everything* was Yato's fault, and once he's dead nothing bad will ever happen again. Kazuma sees this, but there is only so much he can do when Veera absolutely refuses to listen and instead wallows in self pity. An unfortunate side effect of living so long I guess is how long it can take to realize that the world keeps moving forward even if you aren't.
I also liked that Yato in this is completely fine with Yukine making a friend with a fellow shinki..and also seeing the specific language he uses with Yukine regarding Hiyori. I'm going to have to rewatch this episode, but my recollection is that the episode was less kind to Yato and made him more of an antagonist in these interactions.
I'm also now vibrating with excitement because Yato thought of Hiyori as his way to push back from Hiiro (ps I was sad for her when Kugaha ignored her request to be addressed by a name... I know he's a conniving murderer but you don't have to be rude on top of it...) and also trying SO HARD not to rip through a wiki to find out what a Lifeline is. I can guess a lot from context and from seeing the term in fanfiction but I didn't expect to see it in print so quickly.
On to volume 5! I have the next three omnibus editions on order WHEE!

I miss my regalia so dearly... I'm eternally blessed to have Kazuma still by my side (I think I'd lose my mind otherwise), but everyone else... Tsuguha... Akiha, Aiha, Yugiha, Kinuha, Kazuha, Karuha. I at least have a friend who's kinsidering Kuraha? But, goodness, even Kugaha, and of course Suzuha- And all of the Ma clan, and the many in the Ha clan that I will never be allowed the names of. And... Nana.
I know it's silly. I know it means nothing now. But I do call your names. I call your names frequently. I adorn myself with things that remind me of you. My children, my precious shinki. I love you all, from the deepest depths of my heart. I miss you. I hope this life treats you well, and loves you more kindly than I knew how to when you were mine.
Please be well.
- Bishamonten, Noragami.

Quirkless Advantage
Chapter fourteen: Take me out on a date first
Warning: Lots and lots of cussing…..
———
These chapters are going to be stupid and short. Enjoy reading!
———
I drive home and get out of the car. I walk up the stairs to the apartment and open the door. I see Aizawa sitting on the couch and the empty to-go box on the coffee table. I go over to it and pick it up to throw it away.
He also got grilled cheese and tomato soup, what a coincidence.
As I go into the kitchen and throw it away, I hear Aizawa.
"So, how was your date?"
I go to my room and drop off my backpack, then I go back to the living room. "First of all, it wasn't a date," I say sitting next to him on the couch. "Second of all, it was fine. Haru owed me lunch because I missed lunch because of him," I say and he nods.
After about an hour or two, Aizawa gets up and stretches. "I'm going to bed. My class starts their internships tomorrow so I have to see them off," he says as he starts to walk towards his room.
They're already doing internships. Is it really that far into the anime? Wait... the...Hero Killer...Stain...Oh, no...
"Tell Midoriya, Todoroki, and Iida to be careful," I say as Aizawa opens his door and he turns around confused. "Make sure to keep an eye on Iida especially," I say and he nods his head in understanding. He knows that I can't say everything.
When he shuts his door I sigh and move on the couch so my back is resting on the arm rest and my legs are laying across the rest of the couch. I lean back with my arms stretching on either side of my head.
My back has been killing me for some reason.
I hear my phone go off and I sigh loudly as I move up to reach for my phone that is on my lap.
Him...again...
"So about that date," Dabi text says.
"What about it?" I text back.
"How about we go somewhere in two days?' He responds.
"Sure, but I'm not going somewhere unless I know what that somewhere is," I text back and wait.
After a couple of seconds he finally responds, "It's somewhere in Hosu city."
No... not there...that's where all of that happens. Maybe if we go there during the day.
"Ok, but where in Hosu city and what time?" I finally text back.
"Meet me at the coffee shop at 3. Then I'll tell you where we are going," he responds.
I shake my head and text back, "Yeah no, not going to work. Tell me first."
"Don't you trust me?"
I laugh out loud, "I would rather trust Izaya Orihara from Durarara than ever trust you."
"I don't understand that reference."
"Well, I would rather trust Orochimaru from Naruto than ever trust you."
"I don't know that reference either."
I sigh, "You uncultured swine," I say to myself.
"Ok then, I would rather trust Kugaha from Noragami than ever trust you."
"Wow, you think I'm worse than that guy? That hurts."
I smirk, "You read the book that I was going to buy. Well, I guess more than the first one because he doesn't appear until later."
"I guess it wasn't too young for me."
I laugh quietly and finally get off the couch. I walk to my room and shut the door.
"Well, I'm going to bed. I'll see you in two days," I text.
He leaves me on read.
Typical boy...
—
The next day was normal. Went to school, talked to Haru... well, more like Haru talked to me, went to work after school, and went home.
I have no idea what to wear for our, ...I hate that I'm going to say this, ...date. I don't even know where we are going to go. Great job Tsuna...That's definitely not a little worrisome. It's just going somewhere that you don't know with someone that you barely know and the thing you do know about him is that he's a villain that has hurt and definitely killed multiple people...Yeah, great job Tsuna, you know how to pick them.
You know what? I'm going to wear whatever the fuck I want. Screw him...not anytime soon... but I wouldn't mind... ANYWAYS, back to figuring out what to wear.
I pick out a light pink shirt, blue overalls, and my signature yellow rain boots. My hair is getting in my way of trying to get the straps of the overalls over my shoulders.
I should really get a haircut soon.
Not wanting to deal with my hair anymore, I put it up in two buns on the top of my head.
Isn't that hairstyle called space buns or something? I think so.
I grab my phone from my bed to check the time and see that it is 2:40. "Shit!" I say running out of my room and to the front door. "Where are you going?" Aizawa asks me from the kitchen. "I'm going out with a friend," I say, putting on my boots. Aizawa only responds by saying ok and I run out of the door.
I can't use the car since Aizawa has to use it today so I took the bus to the coffee shop. I arrive late and see Dabi leaning against the wall of the building. He's looking down at the ground, and every once in a while he checks his phone, only to sigh afterwards.
I try to walk quietly towards him.
"You're late," Dabi says before I get close to him. He doesn't look up, "I thought that you were going to not come." "No, I was trying to figure out what to wear actually," I say and he looks up. "Cute outfit," he says smirking. I walk closer to him, "So, where exactly are we going?" "Well, like I said before," he says and starts walking with me, "We are going somewhere that is in Hosu city." "Yeah, I already know that," I look over at him and roll my eyes, "I guess I'm not going to be able to get an answer out of you." Dabi looks over at me and smirks, "Nope."
We get on a train that takes us to Hosu City. I think it is the same train that will get attacked later tonight. We get off the train after about thirty minutes. We walk down the street and stop in front of a building.
It's an arcade.
I look over at Dabi, "You are taking me to an arcade?" "Yup," He nods and opens the door for me.
The arcade looks like it wasn't updated since it was built. It mostly had the original arcade games with some new ones. Dabi surprisingly buys us both tokens and hands half to me.
"So, what game do you want to play first?" Dabi asks and I shrug.
I suddenly see Pac-man in the back corner and run over to it. I hear Dabi walking behind me. "Well, I guess you made up your mind. I bet you I will have a higher score than you," Dabi says. "Oh don't get too cocky. I bet you 50 dollars that I will win," I say, putting my hand out for him to shake to seal the deal. He takes my hand and instead of shaking it, he yanks my hand towards himself. Because of the force, my chest is against his. "Deal," he says, letting go. He moves to the game, "I'm going first." I don't say anything and just wait until he is done.
It takes him about 30 minutes until he loses.
"There's no way that you are going to beat that score. I'm at the top of the scoreboard," Dabi says and I roll my eyes. "Like I said before," I lean in closer, my face a few centimeters away from his, "Don't get too cocky."
It takes me about 30 minutes to beat him.
"How the fuck are you so good at this game?" He asks and I smirk. "Because...I'm a natural," I say. He looks at me like he doesn't believe me and I laugh. "I used to practice all the time so I could beat my parents at it," I say.
"You know everything about my past but I don't know anything about you. I believe it's only fair if we know each other's pasts," Dabi says. "There's not much to say," I say walking away from Pac-man and to a random game that I don't recognize. "Both my mom and dad are alive and together still. I have a little sister. Oh, and I have a cat," I say starting the game. He goes to the game next to me that is the same game.
"Do you miss your parents?" Dabi asks and I hesitate to play the game so it makes me lose. "Yes," I hesitate to say. "Do you miss your family?" I ask and he stops moving and looks at me. "You know the answer to that," he says. I shake my head, "Actually no, I don't," I say and he sighs. "Sometimes," He finally says. "I don't even know if my family knows that I'm gone," I say sadly. "I'm sure they do. You are too... well, you... for them to not notice you are gone," He says smirking at me.
Him and his stupid smirking.
After a couple of minutes, we started to continue to play again. Dabi beats me at all of the newer two person shooter games but I beat him at the older type of games. I decide to look at the time after a couple of hours and notice that it is late. "We should go. I need to get home before it gets too late," I say and he nods. We walk out of the arcade and start walking down the street. I notice that it is dark outside. Great...
Dabi stops suddenly and pulls me behind a building.
I feel like I'm getting deja vu.
My back is against the wall and Dabi is hovering over me. "What the hell-" I start to say but he stops me with his hand over my mouth. "Be quiet," He whispers, "There's a lot of pro heroes out for some reason." He releases his hand from my mouth. I try to hit his shoulder but before I can, he grabs my wrist and pins it down to the wall next to the side of my body.
He gets closer.
"Really? This again?" I ask, raising my eyebrow. "Well, don't try to hit me then," Dabi says a few centimeters away from me. "What are you doing? I thought that there were heroes out right now so wouldn't it be smarter for us to go right now?" I ask and he nods his head. "Yes, but we're fine if they can't see us." He says and lets go of my hand.
He leans his head in closer.
"What are you doing?" I ask.
I know what he's doing...
"Take me out on a date first. That's what you said and I did," he says.
"Yes, I did say that, but no to that," I say and gently push him back. He sighs but says ok and steps back.
"I really need to get home," I say and he nods.
I start to walk out from behind the building but stop.
"Fuck it," I whisper to myself and turn back around.
Before I think too much about it, I walk up to him and put my lips on his right cheek. I lean back to look up at him and smirk when I see his eyes wide. "You actually thought I was going to actually kiss you on the lips," I say smirking. "Don't you think we would be going a little too fast?" I say teasingly.
He just stands there shocked, not saying anything.
I just walk away.

I’m like 2/3 of the way through Noragami and it’s a solid 6-7/10 and a lot of what makes it good happens in the first 20-30 chapters. Like the whole Yukine stinging and the Kugaha / Kazuma arcs were both amazing. But it goes so far downhill after those.
Like I just finished the whole heaven rebellion with Vasra-Viina, and the arc was so hard to read. Part of it is probably my fault because I’m not aware of any of the folklore involved, but a lot of it is the arc just jumping around from plot point to plot point and it gave me whiplash. Like they’ve got this weird soulmate thing where Yato is being creepy, and then Hiyori is just wandering a forest while Yato’s dad is watching. Vasraviina is releasing a stray from their eternal prison and giving them a name and just starts going to kill the other gods, which fits her character, and then Yato gets involved and it’s just flashback after flashback with like a page of action inbetween to make it more confusing, and they’ve got flashbacks between different flashbacks and it’s so hard to read. Like I’m so invested in Yato’s past as a god of calamity, but no, every time something is revealed it’s done super cryptically and foreshadows a bunch of stuff, so even the stuff that seems irrelevant, like Oukis reincarnation, probably means something like 20 chapters later. And for some reason Yato’s dad is orchestrating a bunch of this and there’s the Amaterasu trial thing and I’m just so lost now.
#noragami#I love this series but I’m not gonna go and start taking notes of all of the plot lines to understand what’s going on#rant#I’m just super frustrated lmao

Hi! Your super anonymous secret santa here ^-^ I had a little look around your blog and your manga colourings are amazing <33
I saw that the arc about Bisha's arc is your favourite! For your gift, are there any topics or scenes you would like me to include in particular? I'm planning to definitely write a fic and if there's enough time, I'd like to draw some accompanying art :)
Hello!!
TYSM, I'm a huge Kazubisha and angst fan so the Kugaha's betrayal - Kazuma's exile arc is one of my favorites.
Some random things I like (feel free to include as many as you want)
Angst (I can handle a lot) with a happy ending
Canon divergence or canon-compliant that still leads to the tragedy
It can be set in the past too! the early years of Bisha rebuilding her clan
Or during the betrayal arc, her time alone and doubting her ability to lead
I'm happy with whatever :)
#ask#bonus points if you make it hurt me#but happy ending because i love her and i need her to be happy#at least in fanfics :#:')

Noragami reread: Volume 5 & 6 thoughts
Installment three featuring the Bishamon arc and my many explosions.
Umbrella scene. Send tweet.
No but really, rereading it with the context of endgame events is like three hundred knives to the chest.
Reflecting on it, Yato's plan of attack when Aiha and the ayakashi come at them doesn't make sense. He tells Hiyori that Aiha is way smarter than an ayakashi, but when ayakashi swarm them, he leads them away, leaving Hiyori...with Aiha, who is still armed. Maybe he thought she would go home?
How I would rearrange this scene is Aiha runs off and the ayakashi attack both Yato and Hiyori, so he's forced to lead them away. Then Aiha comes back.
Another minor lol with that scene is Kazuma freeing Hiyori but she gets put under the sleep spell anyway. I assume she tried to run but Kugaha was faster, or maybe he used the bind on her too.
Last reread, I tried (and mostly failed) to track when Kazuma started going off the rails, but it sticks out to me now--he's always been this way. He didn't suddenly snap, he's just always been willing to abandon his morals for her. In the past, he was a newbie shinki but still willing to take the extreme measure of having all his fellow shinki murdered to save Bishamon's life. Because he'd do anything for her, including betray his friends. So him doing it again, sinking even lower (because remember he refused to have Yato name him at that time), was foreshadowed all along. WHEN THE THEMES ARE CONSISTENT!!!!
"A shinki that swears an oath of undeviating loyalty" does anyone else want to blow up
Yukine basically fully committed to being with Yato through the worst of times. And then Adachitoka had to flip that and say actually he's so devoted he'd take another name to stop Yato. All the while the same thing is happening to Kazuma. Once again this volume has barely started and I already have tears in my eyes.
Yato thinks so poorly of himself that he never tried to correct what Bishamon sees him as. He doesn't mind that he's a piece of trash in her eyes, and he even accepts it. Crying again
I love how Touma is the only one who can get away with bullying Kazuma the way she does. I wish we could see how the other characters would react to that in the present day since he tries so hard to be the mature leader.
Discord reactions once more, just a couple this time
And a bonus of me being a shit and making myself giggle:
