Hey Stupid!: Osano Najimi x fem! Reader

Art by: Koumi-senpai (deviantart)
Oh yes reader you are in fact senpai(ish) and YES my language will degrade over this entire fic. Yes its short due to my attention span<333
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The morning sun casts a golden glow over the quiet path leading to Akedemi High. The cool morning air with a gentle breeze bringing life to the schools front stone pathway. Refreshing to those outside. The morning dew on the cherry trees, grass, and bushes.
The stone-paved walkway lined with rows of ancient cherry blossom trees stand in full bloom. Their delicate pink petals drift through the air like snowflakes, carried by the soft breeze that whispers through the branches. Each step echoes in the tranquil morning, the only sounds being the rustling leaves, distant birdsong, and the rhythmic sound of students walking.
Whilst walking down the stone path a boy with vibrant shade of fiery orange, slightly unkempt yet undeniably eye-catching. His locks are slightly messy, with uneven layers that give him a carefree, boyish charm. His bangs fall naturally over his forehead, some strands brushing against his sharp, expressive eyebrows, while the sides of his hair frame his face just enough to highlight his furrowed brows. This boy was no other than Osano Najimi, Your childhood friend and at this point your bully.
" Hey (name), you overslept again. You had me waiting for you, next time I'm leaving your ass at home. I wont bother to call!" He huffed at you clearly annoyed.
"I'm sorry Osano, My alarm clock didn't go off but if waiting for me is too much trouble. You don't need to wait up for me." You said apologetically adjusting your messenger bag and flattening out your skirt not impressed with his tone.
To be honest, you were used to his harsh words but it gets to a point sometimes you can't handle. The verbal abuse only goes so far before you snap at him. Usually that causes him to pipe down a bit because let's be real he does go too far sometimes.
"Wha-No! you got it all wrong! I- ugh just forget it! Look I want you to meet me on the school rooftop at lunch. Don't keep me waiting!" He blushed slightly crossing his arms.
You raised a brow then shrugged to yourself. " Okay, I'll meet you there immediately at lunch. As of right now let's go in the school more people are coming." giving him a gentle smile causing his face to turn red.
You headed to the fountain where you sat at one of the many benches and played on your phone. Everyone slowly poured into the school. Going where they usually go. The boy who sits at the fountain reading his book. Man he reads the same goddamn book everyday? Does he only own one book?
Osano went to talk to his good friend Ryuto they always hang out especially more lately. They chat often and when you're on calls with Osano he's usually playing games with Ryuto.
LUNCHTIME.
You met Osano at the rooftop as per the agreement you both made. For spring it was hot as fuck out, you gently fanned yourself hoping a nice breeze would come soon. Osano stood there with both hands behind his back.
"You wanted me to meet up here? Everything okay?" You asked curiously as you approached the seemly shy male.
"Here, take it" He handed you a bento that was wrapped in a pink cloth. It looked like it was delicately wrapped with care and consideration.
"You made me lunch?" You smiled softly. Looking up to him gently taking it. Before you could get another word Osano got defensive.
"No! I didn't make it for you! I made way too much food and I'd hate for it to go to waste so i made you some" He scoffed with a blush on his face.
"Well, thank you...I appreciate you thinking of me" You giggled a little, he was sweet under that sour coat.
You sat down with Osano eating with him. You opened the bento looking at the inside it was very carefully made. It looked like he made it for you, there was plenty of good food in it. You ate some smiling at him. "You're a really good cook Osano!"
"You doubted my skills?" He chuckled boastfully
"You know (name), I'd be happy to cook for you everyday" He said softly.
" aww, so you do have a heart" You poked at him, causing his face to erupt in a wild red blush.
" SHUT UP-" He said embarrassed.
The last remnants of lunch—the school bell rang, signaling the end of the break. With a stretch and a sigh, You stood, slinging your messenger bag over one shoulder.
"Guess we should head back before we're late." Osano chuckled, brushing off his uniform.
The rooftop door clanked shut behind you two as ya'll descended the stairs, blending into the steady flow of students spilling out of classrooms by the time the final bell echoed through the halls.
Minutes turned into an hour, and soon, school was nothing but a backdrop to the soft rhythm of footsteps on the pavement. The golden hues of the setting sun stretched their shadows long across the quiet neighborhood streets.
"Man, today felt so long, "you sighed, kicking a stray pebble down the sidewalk.
"Yeah but the weekend is here so we don't have to wait any longer" Osano said walking down the sidewalk with you.
" Hey Osano"
"yeah (name)?" Osano raised a brow
" Just admit you like me" You chuckled cheekily.
His face erupted in another blush as he yelled " HEY!"
You spent walking home...sorry running home from Osano who was chasing you for that slick wording, But you both knew just a little bit that you both liked each other, just maybe the cherry tree legend will have to work its magic next Friday.
There's literally a ten year old child that has access to one of your fellow agents' blogs. Who has expressed her distaste in all this crap that's been going on
Well she clearly hasn’t done anything about it. And frankly, Kouta might not be too happy about it, but the ‘punt child’ solution still stands with Koumi.
actually, ESPECIALLY Koumi.
A rose by any other name
by TurquoiseYoshi
Initially, Mimi figured that a little teasing never hurt anybody, and that every time she did it, Koushiro’s expression was born out of pure embarrassment.
But now— months and months since she’s been back in town, things like asking for a simple pencil, or just being close by sends the boy into a spiral. One that has him literally running for the hills.
So… What the fuck gives?
Missing You
Missing You
Word Count: 589
Prompt: “Mutual Pining,” Day 1 of Koumi Week 2021
Featured Characters: Koushiro “Izzy” Izumi & Mimi Tachikawa
A/N: Even though it happened, I feel as if Mimi’s time in New York is often passed over. We all know it happened, but how much do we actually think about it having happened? So I figured the perfect type of time period for this prompt was Mimi’s time in New York.
I did a split view of the featured two for this one to really portray what distance can do to pining, so I hope it worked! Enjoy! <3
@koumiweek
"I miss Mimi."
Izzy froze, the pads of his fingers hovering above his laptop's keyboard. Behind him, Yolei was lamenting the absence of her heart's sister. His heart beat a little faster at the sound of her name, an image of his childhood friend with the pink dress and ten gallon hat flashing through his mind. It took all his willpower not to show the strength of his emotion in his face. Ever since Tentomon had helped him learn to emote, it had been harder and harder to hide everything he was feeling when he felt it.
And right now, he missed Mimi. Probably more than Yolei would ever understand.
How long had it been since he'd seen her smile? Although he couldn't really say if he'd ever actually been personally responsible for any of those smiles. He hadn't really had the chance to be before she'd flown off to New York.
Was it weird that he desperately wanted to open a digital gate and go to New York?
This was starting to get overwhelming. Izzy made what was probably a horribly crafted excuse—something about not feeling well—before rushing off to be alone. Once he was safely out of the room, Izzy sat heavily down on the floor, his fingers sprawled on the top of his laptop. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out the folded photo he'd kept in there every day to remind him of how much progress he'd made, how far he'd come since that fateful day three summers ago.
Unfolding the photo, he stared hard not at Tentomon, but at the girl he'd been missing since the day he'd found out she was leaving Japan.
He missed Mimi, but not for the same reason as Yolei. No, his reasoning was much deeper than missing a friend.
~ ~ ~
She thought about him, but she pretended she didn't.
Strolling through New York, there was plenty to take in: the sights, the smells, the sounds, the people, the clothes, the landmarks, everything! Even though she'd been living here for nearly three years now, there was something that just couldn't be sated in her. There was always something new to discover, new to try.
There was always something new to distract herself from thoughts of Japan.
But it rarely worked, and in some ways, she hated New York for that. She couldn't keep her mind off of the boy with the laptop, whose face could change from a blank robot into an absolute cutie pie within seconds. She couldn't help but wonder if his red hair was still spiky and wild, or if he'd changed it much like she had done many times this year. (The afro might have been a low point for her, but damn, did she look good in it.)
Emails were starting to not be enough for her. The time difference made them hellish, for one, but there was so much that couldn't be conveyed in an email, especially to someone like Izzy. Mimi missed everyone back in Japan, but for some reason, her thoughts always returned to the boy who had made her bawl like a baby without even trying. In some ways, she wondered if it was because she had always been interested in him this way. Maybe they had more in common than she'd originally thought—that is, a difficulty with processing and expressing certain emotions.
Mimi wondered if he'd ever thought the same, and despite the bright lights of New York before her, she found her thoughts back in Tokyo all over again.
KOUMI FIRST DATE HEADCANONS
Note: I’ve posted this on my original blog, which I’ve had to delete because since it was my secondary blog, the primary one was causing me a lot of troubles (with replying, etc...) so I’m posting it once again on my new blog. (which is named and looks exactly like the deleted secondary one)
Since I’m unable to sleep, I was crazy enough to decide I want to write my first headcanons ever (are those even headcanons? Let me know if not).
First date (actually, not)
Koushiro never flirted with anyone, like, ever. The first time he tried was on the backseat of the car with Mimi, and he felt like he was going to die. It didn’t even look like he was flirting, that’s how bad he is at the love game.
Before Mimi’s departure to New York, he didn’t have a crush on her, he just preferred her presence over anyone’s, which didn’t make sense to him, because he wasn’t able to focus on anything when she was with him.
Later on, he discovered it was because she was the only person who could make his brain go silent for a while.
The moment he realized he may have feelings for Mimi was when the letters and phone calls to New York weren’t enough, and as time passed, he felt more heartsick.
Of course, he would never tell her that. He’s so bad with feelings and expressing them, like, really bad.
It’s so bad that when he realized he may have feelings for Mimi, he felt like throwing up because his system felt overwhelmed.
He did.
Since he’s so bad with feelings and flirting, there was no chance he was going to ask her out on a date, so he made up a plan to not really asking her out, but being out, and her not knowing it’s actually a date.
„It´s called incognito dating, Yamato!“. „Dude, are you serious“ (italics are for Yamato)
He asked her if she wants to hang out while he repairs T.K’s computer.
She didn’t find it unusual, after all, she used to go to his office to hang out on regular basis. What confused her was why was Koushiro trembling with a screwdriver in his.
When Mimi sneaked behind him and touched his arm to make sure he’s alright, he freaked out and almost stabbed her.
„Dude, seriously“
He ended up dropping the screwdriver on the floor and bumping his head on the table while picking it up.
The bumping was so rough she had to sit him on the couch for the rest of their „date“.
Mimi went to the store to get some ice on his bruise, and after coming back, he finally gathered the courage to flirt with her.
„The ice is really good“
„You’ve got to be kidding me“
They ended up talking for a few hours until they realized the sun has set down.
They also told each other some things they thought they would never say to anyone, including Koushiro occasionally listening to Busted and Mimi wearing glasses at home.
After walking Mimi home, he realized he’s the best when he’s just being him, aka the sketchy, mysterious dating schemes are out in the trash.
She told him she felt so happy to spend the day with him, and it made him blush so heavily he basically had to run away to hide it.
The official first date happened a long time after this. The time between those two dates he spent just hanging out with her felt so comforting, fun, and precious he was scared to death he was going to ruin everything by asking her out because the poor boy was sure she was going to reject him.
Turns out he wasn´t the only one who felt at peace while being with her.
Can you do a Koumi one-shot/drabble, but them as parents? Is that okay?
IS THAT OKAY? IS THAT OKAY?
I love Koumi how dare you think I’d think otherwise (Translation: I would love to do this)
Had to get a gif in here-
[As always I’ll be using English names, so forgive me.]
Koumi as Parents, Part 1
Izzy was facedown in the couch again.
Mimi crouched down beside their daughter and son. “What did you do this time?” she asked gently as Tentomon buzzed around Izzy, trying to revive him.
Riku tilted his head, his pale brown hair falling into his face. He was letting it grow out, though it refused to take on the spiky quality of his father’s hair, much to Riku's chagrin. “I was just asking Papa when he fell in love with you, Mama.”
Harumi nodded, her red ponytail bobbing up and down with the movement of her head. “Yeah! But then Papa turned red and wouldn’t tell us!”
Palmon was giggling somewhere behind her, but Mimi ignored this. Instead, she set her hands on top of Riku and Harumi’s heads. “You know better than to ask your father something like that.”
Riku and Harumi pouted, but they nodded.
Izzy turned his head so that his face was visible again. A blush remained on his face, but it wasn’t quite as red as Mimi suspected it was earlier. She sat beside him on the couch, lightly running her hand through his hair. “They didn’t give you too much trouble, did they?”
His eyes moved to meet hers, and though he didn’t smile, the expression on his face softened. “No. Except... I couldn’t answer their question.”
She raised one of her perfect eyebrows. “Why’s that?”
“Because I think I’ve always been in love with you.”
Mimi leaned down and kissed his cheek. “You’re facedown on the couch because of that?”
“They also asked how babies are made.”
“Ah.” That was definitely an answer they weren't ready for.
With that settled, Izzy finally began to sit up, only for Harumi to leap onto him, throwing her arms around him. The blush finally disappeared as he held his daughter, while Mimi picked up Riku and sat him on her lap. They smiled at each other, the drama of three minutes ago forgotten. Izzy leaned his head on Mimi’s shoulder, and Harumi picked up the remote and turned on the TV.
Family time wasn’t so bad in the Izumi household.
---------
Okay I didn’t mean for this to take so long (1.5 hours? Sure that’s a normal span of time for something this long.) and the kids’ names are random, but this is definitely how Koumi as Parents would work out.
I hope this was alright! I can always write more if you want ;)
Thing's that makes me believed that Yameiko should be endgame.
Hello! It's been a long time huh!
First of all, that's my opinion about the digimon series, and it's not my intentions offend anyone. Only thing that i wanted here is just express my opinion and all of us put on a reflection moment about the serie.
It's been a long time that I wanted to talk about this, since that i watched the first Tri movie, but I felt like I was only person that thought that way and my opinion wouldn't be well accepted.
But i see some Yameiko post's, i rebloged then and when i posted photostos or talk about them, people starting liked, and i felt more confortable in post this, even there's a little people talk about them, and i felt that i need to share this and who knew more people posted more about this ship.
So let's get started!
So I'm going to start with this list, with the times when Yamato saved Meiko's life. That's the part more evident in this ship.
Since i watch first move of digimon tri, there's only thing that kept me whatch all serie, i mean, there was two people that makes me watch the whole serie, Yamato and Meiko.
Why? Beacause the first interaction betwen them it was so intense and effective that it made me wonder if this wasn't something to keep an eye on them, for some possible development in the future.
They were also developing Koumi and, as far as I imagine, the first part it was to introduce us to the story that was being told. This also applies to any story being told.
Anyway! Let's go to the scenes.
The first scene them together, without anyone of the group, it was a scene that yamato saves Meiko, in a moment very vulnerable for her in the first Tri movie.
I don't think Yamato in that moment saved her because she is someone importat to him, but he does because she needed help and we know he have these protect instinct when he’s see someone in danger.
But ask yourself, do you think that other times that his saved her life, it was only for because she was in danger?
For example, the way he screams because he is forced to accept that Meicoomon needs to die, and when he ran to stop Meiko (when she went after the meicrackmon) and wold end up killing herself along with meicoomon, he doesn't think twice before running up to her (as Taichi did and, he only did because Yamato ran after Meiko).
Do you think that there's not something more behind, and what could be?
And if you were Meiko in these situations, do you couldn't feeling something for your savior? ...
I think this may be possible had some feelings for each other in a life-or-death situation. Because it brings good feelings of comfort, safety and protection.
See how in this scene it’s seems like them try to come closer to each other
Or in this scene when Yamato say to her don't apologizes for what happening with Taich and move on.
You didn't find it weird the Meiko’s reaction when she find that Yamato is Takeru’s brother?
What If she does that expression because she started know more about Yamato, the one who saved her life and, and she felt grateful to him, and the guy who was more close to her until then (Takeru) it was your brother?
See how Takeru be impressed with this?
Probably he getting something behind the Meiko's expression. He knows better than everyone in the group how treat a girl, and how she could feellt and there’s a lot of scenes that could prove that.
And don't you think it's strange the way Yamato gets introspective in this second film?
Okay... We know it's because he and Taich weren't well, but is there the only reason he's a recluse?
Did you see this scene when Meiko talked about Meicoomon to the girls, and said that her digimon never evolved before?
Yamato had his back to her and when she says so, it soon shows him leaving the table where the guys were sitting and Nishijima looking at him with his face that he didn't understand what was going on.
That doesn't seem like nothing important, but why put this part in this scene? There any meaning behind it?
What if he was introspective and watched her and tried to get to know her better and how would she act with the rest of the group, at the same time he was still mad at Taich?
I think it might be possible because no one knew much about her, and he saved her and of course he'd keep an eye on her after that.
I started thinking that way when I realized how Takeru at the beginning of the second film, he was very attentive to what Meiko was doing, like trying to make her more comfortable with the group, when he saw her talking to Himekawa or when he was asking questions in front of everyone in the group.
(Oh! See this reference that she lived in a city in the city where Yamato and Takeru's grandmother lived).
It may sound crazy, but what if Yamato and Takeru were suspicious of something and were wondering how Meiko ended up getting into this whole situation?
No one would suspect Takeru's behavior, since he was always a very kind guy and Yamato was always a more observant and reserved guy and both could draw their own conclusions in different ways.
And I think everyone agrees that Yamato would be able to do this kind of thing, like when he went to meet Himekawa and Nishijima to learn more about the Meicoomon’s investigation.
i know this scene would be less important to defended this ship.
Anyway i still think this scene is very weird don’t you?
Now let's talk about how much he's worried about her and her feelings and always put her in the group as a member.
It’s so cute that scene!!
The second time he saves her, she still wants to run after meicoomon to try to stop her, he stopped her immediately and say don't do it because she could get hurt and Meicoomon would become more unstable.
Okay again it looks like he's protective instincts, but I could believe it if he'd done it a few times. but if you put other times that he done that, it seems something more envolved.
for example see this scene when Meiko comeback to school after days without talk with anyone in the thirth Tri movie?
This scene call’s my attention for only two things:
Did you see the way Yamato talk to her and how Mimi call him?
Tundra (or correct term tsundere) is a Japanese proverb, used to describe someone who hides his good feellings by someone being rude to that person ( as like Yamato did in this scene). Usually this term is used in shoujo mangas or animes to develop a couple.
So ... why put this if there's not meaning behind that?
We know how Yamato it’s a person who hide he’s feelings and can’t get express them. So ... it’s could be possible that Mimi, Taich and Sora say the truth in this scene.
But there’s much more!
This scene is very curious to analyze. For us who were watching, we knew that Takeru wasn't thinking about Meiko in the first place when he said that, but in Patamon who was infected.
But look at that curious, Yamato looks directly at Meiko, thinking that his brother was referring to her, he apologizes and is sad to have been insensitive.
But look what's more curious this, at first Yamato wouldn't bother to defeat the digimons if they were infected, but when it happened and Raguelmon had to be defeated, he had that reaction.
This act for me has more meaning than any words.
Yamato is one of those who scolds Joe for talking like that of The Meicoomon, because he knew how it affected Meiko.
Now let’s talk about the cave scene! ... Meiko’s talk about your insecurites about meicoomon and your friedns try to say her to don’t give up to Meicoomon and don’t close yourself and share with them all your problems and ...
Only people talk to her to comfort and were Taich, Hikari, Sora, Mimi and Yamato, and the Yamato's words, there's more impact than any other said before.
And remember how the trailer made us thought that was Yamato holding Meiko’s hand?
And it’s not only time that he does that!
This scene is so interesting. Look how mad Yamato seems for not being able to say the right thing for her. He tries so hard to say that she and Meicoomon are not undesirable and felt part of group.
And his not your first time do this.
In this scene Taichi, Yamato and Joe were talking about Meicoomon and Taich doubts whether they would be able to save Meicoomon. Yamato doesn't think twice before saying that both are part of group and leaves the place very mad.
It is curious to see how Taichi did not seem very sure that Meicoomon had salvation, but Yamato was willing to do anything to help because Meiko and Meicoomon were part of the group.
And don't forget Yamato's reaction when he sees Taichi raising Meiko and how he seemed to want to cut that scene quickly by telling them to move on.
You think this scene he wasn't feeling at all about seeing both together?
These scenes It made me think that this kind of behavior is not typical of someone introspective like Yamato.
And why does he have such an intense feeling if he's met Meiko a couple days ago, is there something more than partner or friends?
A random curiosity!
Do you realize that in the scene where the digimons recover their memories, Meicoomon appears discreetly in only in Gabumon's and Palmon's memories?
This may sound silly, but if the digimons have a strong connection with their partners, they sure know what's going on in their hearts, and Gabumon knew that saving Meicoomon was important to Yamato, but why?
Did he have any hidden feelings that only Gabumon knew?
And last! Did you notice that the boku ni totte song the lyrics fit perfectly with Meiko and everything she went through?
Okay! ... know the song has another meaning, but doesn't that mean she can't have another interpretation either, right?
If you take the lyrics song sung by Yamato's Japanese voice actor. The lyrics speaks of a very vulnerable moment and this person says he wants to be strong enought to protect someone and Yamato has a very great protective instinct for Meiko as we saw earlier.
In the chorus it says things like "You say good bye!" and “Don’t say goodbye” At the end of Tri Meiko left everyone for returned to Tottori.
In addition parts of the song the lyrics say how the person who is leaving is irreplaceable for him, and as i said earlier, Yamato always tried to comfort Meiko by saying that she was part of the group.
Now it's coincidence or there's a deep meaning behind?
See for yourself!
I'm not trying to say that my opinion is the only truth, only the producers and writers behind of the series can answer that, but with all this evidence, wouldn't that be more than enough not to underestimate them?
I hope see more Yameiko's fans here, even them not being canon in the future, because i think them deservered a especial attention in the fanbase for your "development" as a possible couple.
I hope you like it, and if you could, comment too, even if you don't agree with me, as long you argument be respectfull.
Meant for Romance
Word count: 1,893
Part 1/1
Pairing: Taishiro (past Koumi)
Read below the cut or on ao3
Summary: “So let me get this straight,” Miyako says, swiftly biting into her toast. “You got sloppy drunk on a Tuesday and hooked up with your hot best friend. He let you sleep in his bed overnight and brought you breakfast.”
“And now you’re here, having breakfast with me,” Miyako says with a bored sigh, “When you could be having a coffee-flavored makeout sesh with your hot best friend.”
Heavily implied nsfw. Lots of awkward. Humor maybe? Largely fueled by too much coffee at 4 a.m.
So warm.
Koushiro doesn’t remember ever feeling so cozy in his life. He knows he needs to get up soon — the morning sun on the other side of his eyelids beckons him to start the day. But sleep is still within his grasp, and his pillow smells so nice, like sage and bergamot and mint. He recognizes that scent, though he can’t quite place it, but his brain supplies him with hot breaths on his neck and a husky coo of his name.
Koushiro shivers, pulls the cotton sheet under his chin, and revels in the way it drags across his skin. His skin. All of his skin.
Eyes snapping open, Koushiro jolts up. The sheet, having fallen to the tops of his thighs, answers his first question, but — Where the hell am I?
He remembers Mimi, her pretty hair pulled back, making her deep-set frown stand out even more. She told him it wasn’t working out, that there’s someone else, that this just wasn’t doing it for her anymore. I wasn’t doing it for her at all.
He remembers calling Taichi, desperate and agonizing. Taichi saying he’d be there in 30 minutes. Taichi hailing down a cab to take them to a bar where “the drinks are cheap and totally worth it.” Taichi making him feel better instantly with big grins and fond laughter because that’s what friends do.
Spotting his clothes loosely folded on the desk chair across from the bed, Koushiro moves hastily and slips his underwear on, left foot then right foot. He knows he told Taichi about the breakup. Well, it wasn’t really a breakup, considering he and Mimi had never put a label to what they were doing, which wasn’t much.
Koushiro was busy, and Mimi was needy. She needed things from him that he couldn’t give. They’d tried to engage in sexual activities exactly twice, and neither time could Koushiro perform. It was something that embarrassed him to no end because he liked Mimi and he thought she was cute, but for the entire 8 months they were seeing each other, his body just wouldn’t respond.
Taichi spent most of that conversation listening, Koushiro realizes now, and he never poked fun or judged him. He loves that about Taichi. He’s working on the fourth button of his white dress shirt when his eyes dart to a Polaroid photo propped up on the desk. In the bottom right-hand corner reads ‘The Yagamis 2002.’ Nonononono.
And it hits him like a bullet train. Rough hands, harsh lips. Hips colliding, hot with need. Smooth, sun-kissed skin everywhere. Taichi over him, eyes wide and lips swollen. “Perfect. You’re so perfect.”
“Fuck,” Koushiro stutters, palms suddenly clamy. He’s got both legs in his pants, pulling them up in one swoop, and he hears the door unlock. Fuck.
“Hey, you’re awake!” Taichi says, smiling. At least, Koushiro suspects he’s smiling, but he doesn’t want to know. He can’t bring himself to look at his friend. He hears a rustle of plastic and something heavy hitting the table, but his mind can only focus on slipping on his socks at light speed.
“Sorry to leave you alone,” Taichi sounds sincere. It makes Koushiro feel worse. “I didn’t have much in the fridge, so I ran to the convenience store down the street. I grabbed that bottled Oolong you like. I hope eggs and — you’re leaving?”
“Sorry, Taichi-san. I have to go.” And Koushiro is out the door, leaving Taichi to stand alone in his little apartment.
***
He’s not sure where he’s going, not exactly paying attention, but he spots a park and some familiar treelines, and he manages to make it to a door, knocking furiously.
A beat passes, and he knocks again.
“Jesus, what!?” Miyako says, whipping the door open and looking like she just rolled out of bed. She eyes Koushiro, his tousled hair, frazzled expression, and haphazard outfit.
“Either you’ve met a very unfriendly tornado, or you’re doing the walk of shame,” she says, causing Koushiro to flush from the neck up. “Ah. Walk of shame, huh? Come in.”
The next 20 minutes are filled with Miyako filling her toaster and putting on a pot of coffee while Koushiro relays the previous night’s events with record speed. He’s beet red.
“So let me get this straight,” Miyako says, swiftly biting into her toast. “You got sloppy drunk on a Tuesday and hooked up with your hot best friend. He let you sleep in his bed overnight and brought you breakfast.”
She pauses to look directly into his soul, and Koushiro would like nothing more than to simply pass away.
“And you panicked.” Miyako’s tone is pointed, but when she doesn’t immediately continue, Koushiro opens his mouth to reply in uncoordinated hand gestures and wordless exasperation. He nods instead.
“And now you’re here, having breakfast with me,” Miyako says with a bored sigh, “When you could be having a coffee-flavored makeout sesh with your hot best friend.”
“It’s not like that!” Koushiro defends. Taichi was his very first friend and probably his closest friend — there was no way he could jeopardize that. His failed attempt at a relationship with Mimi was proof enough that Koushiro isn’t meant for romantic endeavors of any kind.
“I just got out of a relationship!” Koushiro pleads, but Miyako’s expression is solid. She’s not buying this for a moment. Softer, Koushiro says, “And Taichi is my friend. I don’t want to take advantage of him.”
“He obviously didn’t mind,” Miyako, says, annoyed and unimpressed with Koushiro’s half-hearted explanation. Koushiro grunts and looks down at the kitchen counter — he’s not entirely sure he believes himself. Miyako sighs again, this time with a hint of sincere tiredness woven in, and saunters toward her bedroom. “Tragic.”
***
The drive to the office is mostly silent, except for Miyako’s intermittent humming to whatever song is playing on the radio. Koushiro can’t make out any of the words over the sound of his heart thrumming like an upright bass in his ears. Miyako doesn’t seem to notice.
It’s times like this when he truly appreciates her — hiring Miyako as his assistant director was one of his best decisions. She always sorts him out when he gets too caught up in the details. Which is probably why he randomly showed up at her home this morning.
They’re walking into the building, and Miyako greets the receptionist quickly, shielding Koushiro from anyone passing through. He looks a mess, he knows, and Miyako’s being kind by attempting to uphold his reputation. She walks him all the way to his office, reminding him to pull the curtain over the glass windows by his door. She says to find her when he’s done.
It was also Miyako who mothered him into keeping spare clothes at the office after one too many all-nighters. “You look like a trash panda, honestly.”
The morning goes as usual, answering emails, IMing Miyako about the slides for their monthly report. He doesn’t notice when noon rolls around. He doesn’t pay attention when his office door opens, or when the sound of rustling plastic makes its second appearance today.
“Koushiro,” comes a soft voice. Koushiro’s fingers hover above his keyboard and a shiver runs down his spine. “Koushiro,” Taichi says again.
He knows he needs to respond but he can’t pull himself away from his safety net just yet. His fingers touch down on the keyboard again, and he exhales shakily.
“Hello, Taichi-san.”
“I was worried you didn’t eat, so I brought you lunch,” Taichi says quietly. It’s unlike him, and it breaks Koushiro’s heart. He knows he’s being selfish. He knows he should acknowledge his friend, but —
“Koushiro, please,” Taichi says, voice sadder now, a tinge of anguish in that last word. “Can we please talk?”
Koushiro freezes again. He’s so utterly fucked and completely inexperienced in all aspects of what’s sure to unfold here. But Taichi sounds hurt, and he doesn’t want to be someone who hurts Taichi.
He swivels around in his chair, facing Taichi on the sofa but looking at the ground where the toe of his shoe meets the wood floor. He wants to say something, taps his foot a few times, and finally looks up.
“Taichi-san, I —”
“What the fuck?”
“Huh?” Koushiro says, caught off guard. Mimi is storming into his office, face fire-engine red.
“You cheated on me?!” She squawks.
“Excuse me?” Koushiro musters because this is his ex, and his mother taught him to mind his manners, but he feels offended.
“Sora heard from Yamato that you slept with someone last night!” Mimi is causing a scene. A few of Koushiro’s colleagues have poked their heads into the hallway outside Koushiro’s office.
“Did you know about this? Who is she?”
She’s addressing Taichi now, who sinks deeper into the sofa and looks like he might combust, and Koushiro’s blood is boiling. He stands, moving into her line of vision.
“Mimi-san, I hardly think anything I did last night could be considered cheating as we never defined the exclusivity of our relationship and you said there was someone else.” Koushiro says with as much confidence as he can. “I think that gives me the right to do as I want.”
Mimi stomps her foot and raises her arms, ready to shout a thousand expletives, but Miyako is through the door and in Mimi’s face like a forcefield.
“Good afternoon, and welcome to Izumi Corporation. My name is Inoue Miyako, and I’m the lead director of team shut down. As in, I’m shutting this down immediately,” Miyako says, straight faced and with her kindest customer service voice. The first-floor security guard stands just outside Koushiro’s office, already escorting Mimi out. Miyako follows after them, stopping in the doorframe. “Thank you for your visit to Izumi Corp! Have a nice day!”
She smiles and waves, and Koushiro feels like he can breathe again. He has know idea what just happened, and his head is pounding. Miyako’s smile falls, eyebrows pull together, and from the doorway, she points her finger at Koushiro and yells, “I expect a raise!”
She shuts his curtains, slams the door behind her and disappears after that. Koushiro’s mind would normally leave the train station in 50 directions at once, but he’s just stunned. He turns, hoping to find Advil in his desk drawer, and — Taichi!
“Taichi-san, I’m so sorry,” Koushiro turns around to face him, and it’s all he can do because Taichi doesn’t deserve any of this. Taichi is looking at him unexpectedly, reaches a hand up to scratch at the nape of his neck and smiles slightly.
“So,” Taichi says and pauses, looking at the table, “lunch?”
Koushiro stares in awe. Taichi smiles and after a beat, looks up and says, “And maybe we can start this day over?”
They spend the rest of the afternoon talking, and Koushiro apologizes with his entire being. For the event with Mimi. For leaving him. For being so cold. Taichi reassures every “I’m sorry.” Taichi says it’s okay because he doesn’t expect the world Koushiro. Taichi is his best friend. Taichi would like to try last night again. Today, preferably, with less alcohol, but he isn’t pushing.
They weathered a year’s worth of drama in a single day. Koushiro is still breathing, and Taichi still smiles at him like Koushiro is the sun. And maybe Koushiro is meant for romance.
batch replying to some asks, im also using these as an excuse to dump some truly ugly sketchbook drawings LOL
NO WHERE... I’M SORRY... I’ve gotten a message like this approximately every month or so on social media ever since I took down my store and. There’s no where. I used to be pretty good at running an online store back when I was living in Boston because I had a printer I went to regularly and it was easy to get to the post office but I moved to Atlanta for work this past year and those things are a lot less accessible to me now. This may or may not change in the next couple months because my lease is ending haha - but for now, yeah no store. If/when I get one up though I’ll be sure to announce it everywhere I can!
Thank you! I LOVE TRANS KOUSHIROU.... It just makes so much sense to me. I feel like I can relate it to my personal gender experience lol... but also I’m soft for pretty much any and all trans digimon headcanons!! I think the fact that you really see the adventure and 02 kids grow up and change over how many years makes it so easy to think about (and get emotional abt) the trajectory of their lives.
not to make this abt shipping but even though I’ve always liked koumi I think trans koushirou makes me doubly invested in it bc it rly gets me to imagine them talking about gender and working through those discussions together since they have such different experiences with it.
some hastily comped kous from my sketchbook for u
heh thank you! I’m glad! I’m not really aiming for anything unique but i think having influences from all over film/comics/manga/animation helps.
oh VERY... the rank 8 conversation was just such a classic... like if this were in the homestuck universe it would be so unequivocally a blackrom confession. being raised on homestuck when akechi said “I hate you” I audibly gasped LOL
Thank you! I feel like I’m going to be walking the line between cutesy/fun and edgy with my persona art especially I hope you guys are ok with that !!
sdjghs THESE WERE SUCH CUTE MSGS TO WAKE UP TO.. thank you. I’m glad you picked that up from Joker’s expression bc it was the one I was most worried about selling lol. Like the crux of the comic is that Akechi looks into Joker’s face and sees absolutely no recognition, nothing but bewilderment, and that's what breaks him.... anyways I can’t write fanfic so this is what I do instead. If you go to art school you lose the ability to read and write.
sample of the mess of sketches I did before ultimately settling on what i drew for the comic lol
29 for the prompt challenge with Koumi (I can't stop with them haha) 😁
Number 29: “Come over here and make me.”
Characters: Koushiro/Mimi. For once, Koushiro has the upper hand and is very courageous (Mimi’s attitude must have rubbed off on him.). I know how much you love Koumi, so I really hope you like this.
Send me a prompt if you wanna!
It had been a gradual development, their friendship. Sunny afternoons, tempting with their promise of warmth and freedom, were spent in an air-conditioned office, tidying and talking. Mimi had grown accustomed to the sound of fingers meticulously typing, the muffled clicking having lulled her to sleep on many occasions. Initially, she could feel the annoyance roll of his shoulders every time she would waltz into his workspace, distraction tugging at her sleeves. The change in attitude had been subtle, as most things with Koushiro were, but her smiles were always rewarded with a pair of flushed cheeks, and she took that as a cue to come back the next day.
The autumnal winds came, and with them, the sense of familiarity. Pumpkin-spiced lattes become privy to hours of private conversation in a coffee shop where the barista knew them by name. Conversation flowed, ever restless, as if they were trying to fit a lifetime of words into an afternoon. Mimi never tired of it. ‘It’s peculiar,’ she thought, ‘that I miss him even though he is right in front of me.’ He no longer became flustered at the sight of her, embarrassment fading into something softer: contentment, perhaps? For once, Koushiro’s need to label his emotions laid dormant, afraid to ruin a friendship so precious and dear to him.
“You know, Kou-kun, you wouldn’t be so hungry if you would just eat the food in front of you.” Mimi stated, honey-eyes sweet and teasing. The first time she referred to him so casually, he choked. That first day, a lowering sun painted the sky with its brush: creamy oranges mingled with bright pinks, and her laughter reminded him of the tinkling bells of Christmas time. As of late, he had grown accustomed to his nickname, pride and happiness swirling around in his stomach at the though of Mimi thinking so fondly of him.
He did not blush at her comment, nor did he become the stammering, flustered boy he once was. Instead, he raised a singular eyebrow in unspoken challenge, long fingers wrapping themselves around his chopsticks to appease her. She rewarded him with a tight-lipped smile, her hands busying themselves with her coffee cup. Patiently waiting until the rim of her beverage was placed at the edge of her pink, glossy lips, Koushiro took his opportunity to strike. “Mimi-san,” he began, dark eyes lingering on her own, silently commanding her attention, “Green is a lovely color on you.”
The affect of such a bold statement was instantaneous. Her cheeks flushed the color of rose petals, her eyes, like pools of honey glimmering in sunshine, widened considerably. He must have shocked her if the coffee lodging itself in her airways was any indication. Suppressing his giggles proved to be difficult. Mimi, usually oozing with confidence and poise, was reduced to something shy and timid under his gaze. It was a while before she could properly speak, but Koushiro was not one to waste time. His eyes followed the trembling of her fingers, studied the clamor of her coffee cup as it made reckless contact with the tabletop.
He had taught himself to recognize patterns (of code, of distortion, of behavior), and a small hypothesis was clawing at his subconscious: there was the slightest possibility that he affected Mimi just as she affected him. Every hypothesis deserved trial, a twisted experiment of sorts. Her breathing was beginning to lull, albeit her cheeks still stained with embarrassment. A strange sort of courage seemed to seep into his veins, and his thoughts, running rampant with theories until now, settled.
“The blush looks nice, too.”
A stray sunray filtered through the bistro’s window, scattering bits of the rainbow across their shared table. Their knees would be touching, but they continued to dance around each other, inching forward, drawn to one another, but never quite closing the distance. Mimi’s mouth hung open, glossed lips separated by her brief exhale of disbelief. “Koushrio-san,” she managed, her look of incredulousness giving him curious satisfaction, “something has gotten into you today. You can’t just go around saying things like that to girls! They may think you-” her monologue was cut short in its infancy, the red-haired boy’s chuckle effectively distracting her. Leaning forward in his seat, Koushiro carefully placed his forearms on his thighs, his attempt at bridging the gap between them without making his companion uncomfortable. He titled his heads upwards in a way that he has only seen Yamato do, head cocked slightly to the right, dark eyes wistfully staring into hers.
Any good scientist knows that an experiment must be multifaceted to ensure accurate results, and Koushiro had always thought himself as thorough. “Think I what? Like them?” he finished on her behalf, chuckling at her startled expression. “I mean,” he continued, righting himself in his chair, “that would be a probable conclusion, given the circumstances.” Whatever burst of bravery he had been gifted quickly evaporated from his bloodstream, shocking himself with his statement. Even he, as dense and oblivious as they come, could hear the blatant implications of his words. Koushiro allowed the mindless chatter of the patrons to wrap around his limbs, stilling himself for the inevitable rejection. There was little evidence to prove that girls like Mimi, breathtakingly sincere, breathtakingly beautiful, would willingly spend time with a boy as awkward and stand-offish as he. ‘But here she is,’ his mind seemed to comfort him, ‘Here’s where she’s always been.’
She continued to look at him, her eyes twinkling with mirth. He clutched at his chopsticks once more, tentatively biting into his meal, not quite tasting its flavor. Gaze averted, he focused his attention on the people passing by, one ear trained on the hitch of his friend’s breath. Mimi, for her credit, diffused the what-would-have-been awkward situation with ease. Her brunette hair glinted in the sunlight as she tossed it over her shoulder. “Kou-kun!” playfulness threading its way into her words. “If I didn’t know you so well, I would tell you to hush.” She laughed in her simple, two-syllable way. Her cheeks were still that glorious shade of pink, and her fingers shook as she fidgeted with the Styrofoam cup in front of her. It was a cue of sorts, and for the sake of science, Koushrio took it.
Leaning back into the cushion of his chair, he only offered her a small, reserved smile. “Come over here and make me.”
Odaiba Day
Odaiba Day
Word Count: 638
Prompt: “Holidays,” Day 7 of Koumi Week 2021
Featured Characters: Mimi Tachikawa
A/N: While I did a holiday holiday for Takari Week, for Koumi Week I wanted something else. The first thought that came to mind was this Odaiba Day scenario, and so here I am, accidentally making myself cry over the idea of Izzy being such a sweetie pie. Enjoy! And thank you for reading all of my Koumi Week contributions this week <3
@koumiweek
Once again, it was August 1st.
They may have been adults now, but the feelings had never quite gone away when it came to this day of the year. Mimi had never quite shaken the feeling of being washed away, but at the same time, she didn't want to. This was the day she'd first met Palmon, the day her life had changed forever.
While the rest of her friends had completely different lives, they always made time on this specific day. Vacation days came in handy around this time of year, especially since none of them ever wanted to go to work today. Yet the routine seemed the same to Mimi as she tied up her hair in a messy bun and threw on one of her well put together outfits. The only thing different about today was her face, which held an odd lack of expression. Inside, however, there was a storm of emotions. Sadness, nostalgia, relief… but above all, happiness that she and Palmon were still together. As she hoped they always would be.
As they had every year since that day, the group met up in Odaiba. Though it was inaccurate to say their adventure had started right here, something about this place had felt right to celebrate the day. While sitting together, they reminisced about that day, and all of their adventures during that fateful summer. Mimi could almost see the shadows of their younger selves sitting beside her friends as they recalled the mishaps and the laughter, the sorrow and the fun. Their adventures had changed them, and they would never forget it.
At some point, they split up, taking their Digimon partners off to some corner alone, as they had when they had said goodbye the first time. Thankfully, they weren't saying goodbye. They simply wanted the time to reflect on their relationships with their Digimon, and with their own selves.
Mimi found Izzy standing with Tentomon, hands in his pockets as he stared out over Tokyo Bay. Neither of them were talking, but then, they had rarely needed communication for some years now. It seemed fitting for him to be lost in thought today of all days.
Just as she was about to turn away and leave him to his musings, she heard him say her name. "Mimi?"
"Hm?" She turned around to find him looking over his shoulder at her, looking nonplussed to see her there. Then his eyes cleared, and the confusion was gone. "What is it, Izzy?"
"Oh." He had seemed to forget he'd said her name in the first place. "I was just thinking…"
"Don't you always?" she teased, coming closer to stand beside him. She, too, looked out over the bay, her hand resting lightly on Palmon's leafy head. The Digimon were strangely silent today.
Izzy chuckled. "Yes, well, I realized something just now."
"What is it?"
For a moment, he didn't say anything, and so she looked over at him to make sure he was still lucid. When she did, he was looking right at her. A slight blush came to her cheeks at his attention, only to be exacerbated when he said the words:
"This was the day we met."
A huge part of her wanted to cry, but she didn't want to draw the others' attention to this moment. This was theirs and theirs alone. So instead, Mimi smiled, and she gently reached out and laced her fingers through his. "It was, wasn't it?"
He smiled back and returned his eyes to the bay, an interesting glimmer in his eye. She, too, looked back out over the bay, her thoughts now filled with all the time she and Izzy had spent together.
It may not have been much, but it was theirs, and she was sure she wouldn't replace it for anything.
Hi there, I hope you don't mind me bothering you a little but I am worried about the upcoming sequel. I am just not too sure whether to be excited or not. On one hand it sounds like a great idea, Tri did too at first, but on the other hand it feels everything being drawn out and is going full circle till we arrive at the 02 ending, which up until now I still despise with every fiber of my being. It broke childhood me little heart into millions of pieces. Even now, I still pretend it never happe
(continued) I build a whole univers where, as chlidish as this sounds for my old age, they (Takari, Koumi) are a thing and telling the broken little childhood me, especially after Hikari mentioned, Takeru has growth in a romantic way, that they just left it in the open (why didn’t Tri delve into this?). But now, if it’s completely drawn out and going full-circle, there might be exactly that ambigues interpretation, resolution will be ruined and there might not be a coming back from it.
Sorry for responding so late, I’m still on semi hiatus and had exams and family events taking up a chunk of my time (this being the season and all). Of course I never feel like anyone who sends me an ask is bothering me, it’s nice that people still want my opinions even though I’ve been so inactive. I hope those who send me asks just don’t mind if it takes me a while to respond ^^’
First off, you are certainly not alone when it comes to disliking the epilogue, even some of the Japanese voice actors have expressed distaste for it.
I’m kind of going to address different things from your ask not in order.
I think the reason why Tri decided not to delve too deep into the Takari relationship is the same reason why they didn’t delve too deep into the Koumi relationship or even the Canon Epilogue Sorato relationship (heck it’s not unreasonable at all to even interpret Tri as retconning the Sorato hook up in 02). This reason being that they want to keep everything vague and up for interpretation in order to not upset any fans who are anti these relationships. Anime as of recently has been moving more and more towards having ambiguous relationships so that fans can interpret things in their own way and also likely so as to not lose any fans who would stop watching if their ships were crushed (you are also seeing this move in western media as well).
This also flows into why I think they aren’t going to build towards the epilogue (although it’s certainly a possibility that they will and I understand your concern). The epilogue is very restrictive and final which goes against everything Tri was, in that Tri left things open ended (heck we still have no idea who mystery guy was, on top of having no idea how any of the characters romantically feel about each other). There is also the fact that Kakudo left the upcoming project, and since he is the primary mind behind the epilogue this could indicate disagreements between him and new staff on how to handle things addressing the epilogue (of course this is all speculation and nothing is for certain, honestly I haven’t been keeping up to date on any statements made regarding the reasons for his leaving). Although Tri certainly hinted at things from the epilogue it was also vague enough that someone could still interpret Tri as an alternate universe diverging from the original ending.
I don’t think it’s childish to have a complete alternate canon in your head where your ships happen, that’s exactly what fanfiction is, and I love fanfiction. I read fanfiction all the time where Taiyama is canon and have pretty much based my blog around them being canonically in love even within the confines of the epilogue. Once works are posted they are just as much the property of the fans as they are the property of the creators so you are free to interpret things however you want. Ultimately everyone is going to see things differently based on their own biases and experiences (using an example outside of the digimon fandom I interpret Draco Malfoy very differently from how JK Rowling herself interprets him and I cannot interpret him the way she wants me to since it very simply goes against everything my experiences have taught me). Many of the works I’ve seen within this community deviate from canon or offer new interpretations within the restrictions of canon, or even interpretations that directly contradict statements made by the original creators, so you are definitely not alone in your way of going about things.
I also want to point out there is nothing in canon that says Takari and Koumi aren’t together in the epilogue. They may not be explicitly said to be together in canon but they aren’t explicitly said not to be together either, so even the epilogue is up for interpretation. I’ve stated before that I’m a firm believer in Death of the Author, and the only reason people say they aren’t together is because the producer stated in an interview that they weren’t and even then she was only referencing Takari. For further details on this particular topic I’ve previously made this post and this post.
Personally, I’m very excited for the new material because I’m just very curious where they are going with it, especially after Tri which ended exactly the way I wanted it to, minus Taiyama becoming canon haha. But I also was very depressed after the fifth Tri movie, partially for exactly the reason you are worried for the new project, because I was worried that they were building to an ending where they just show the epilogue all over again. So I know how emotionally exhausting this situation can be. I’m going to leave you with the response my friend had to your question upon me showing her:
“I can strongly relate to this post. I would tell them what I learnt myself: the moment a piece of art or media is public, it belongs to those who consume no less than those who created it and that emotional impact is ours and ours alone. At the end of the day, the Canon material is just one interpretation of how things could have ended up being. The popularity of fanfiction proves there are many other ways as well. Bottom line - take what you love, love it for what it is and ignore the rest.”
Geometric final Evaluation
1. What skills have you learnt in this project?
During this project I have learnt a variety of skills which I’ve been developing over time. Tie dying is something that I am familiar with, so when learning the shibori dye technique I enjoyed this and felt confident however I quickly learnt that the dye spread better once the fabric was soaked in water first. Techniques such as Arashi, Kanoko and miura shibori are all techniques that involve a process which resists the dye from the fabric. I then combined previous skills like foiling to develop my shibori pieces.
Embroidering is another skill that I learnt during this project - embroidering into magazines, fabrics and various mediums - this allows for drawn and planned out designs. I enjoyed embroidering into unconventional mediums to create a design that sends a message or to change a pre-existing piece of art. Machine embroidery differers in terms of its spontaneous movements and fluid organic design. I found that when creating abstract pieces it allowed me to express myself in the work. One of the skills I struggled to achieve/learn successfully was needle punch because of the various challenges such as the fabric type, tension of the hoop as well as the needle because it popped out sporadically. This is a skill that I am still yet to learn so that I can apply it to garments and other projects similar to this one.
2. Select 3 artists that had an influence on you and discuss why.
The embroidery artist Mike Bieraugel was an artist that had an influence on me because his work uses bright bold embroidery thread that is similar to the vibrant colour schemes that i enjoy to use, as well as this he embroiders into vogue magazines in order to address issues of inclusivity and diversity in society - this was inspiring to me because his art is questioning the structure and role of the media in society. Another artist that is inspiring to me is Rex Ray because in his work he contrasts plain backgrounds with vibrant psychedelic graffiti designs. I found his work inspiring because of his layering of graffiti and his colour schemes used, however when I tried to replicate his work in the session, I found that the technique requires practice and the right weather conditions (wind was not my friend).The final artist that inspired me was Heather Koumi not only because of her vibrant colour schemes used in her batik designs but because of her fluid use of the wax similar to the embroidery she uses unconventional mediums to work onto. I found her work inspiring particularly in my cushion project because in her batik she has a combination of circles, spirals and dots shapes similar to my own style.
3. What skills did you choose to apply for the final cushion? How successful was this?
For my final project I decided to use batik, dyeing and embroidery. I began by using the batik wax onto my fabric I used the deep pit circle tool and the long silver tool however an issue that I found was that the wax didn’t stain all the way through to both sides of the fabric; this meant that once I added the dye and ironed it off it didn’t successfully resist the dye. When applying the porcion dye I mixed orange dye with water, to create yellow, this meant that it required several layers because it was quite pale in its application. On the other hand I found that because I had soaked my fabric in water the dyes merged successfully. Finally, the last technique I used is embroidery. I decided to embroider my geometric shapes using a white thread because it fit in with my colour scheme but I realised that using a bolder thread such as an orange would have highlighted/reinforced the geometric theme and contrasted to the background. Despite this I concluded that the embroidery was successful in terms of its relevance to the theme however, I did not execute it with procession in terms of the placement, thread tensions or planning which shapes to produce.
4. Where in the market or which brand could you see your final cushion being suitable for and why?
My market is not restrictive to demographics such as age, gender, race etc.
I believe that the market I see best for my final cushion would be one that enjoys bright cool colours, simple contemporary designs that are not overwhelming. I believe my cushion cover would work in a modern home that is styled bright and cosy that doesn't shy away from colour features. In terms of which brands I believe would be suitable for my cushion I began by researching brands that created homeware products that used bright colour schemes, light and airy setups as well as simplistic designs. Brands such as anthropology and Oliver Bonas seemed best suited so I then decided to look into companies whose whole range of products are similar to mine i concluded that urban outfitters' bright, simplistic designs on their products were a brand that would be suitable for my product.
5. What would you have changed in your work if you had more time? Or what challenges have you faced/overcome?
If I had more time during the project I would have considered the artist Nina Gregier and her work in terms of using smaller geometric shapes to collage together to build a larger design, I would have liked to create a feature design on the front of my cushion that addresses a message personal to myself. As well as this I would have reconsidered my colour schemes for the dye and embroidery thread so that they could have been more vibrant and representative of myself. I think one of the challenges I faced during the project was the success of the batik wax resisting the dye so in order to overcome this I would have practiced using different batik tools and techniques had I had more time.
6. Overall, how successful do you feel this project was for you? (Creative learning as well as personal skills e.g. time management)
In order to rate how successful this project was for me I looked at the skills i learnt and how i have been able to apply and execute them as well as my personal skills such as my planning, time management and decision making. I have used several new techniques that have been taught to me during the project, I have used the correct processes, developed them using layering and I have applied them to the brief provided. In terms of my personal skills I suggest that I was more productive during the last week of the project because I used better time management in order to get the cushion cover sewn together, embroidered and overlocked. On the other hand, I am confident that I have done the planning for each step of my cushion; clearly presenting the process I have gone through this has helped me to progress to each stage and remain relevant to my original cushion ideas instead of diverging to other ideas. In conclusion i believe that this project was successful for me to practice and apply new skills i’ve learnt, as well as being put under a time constraint so that i can adapt to being under stress/pressure however, this project did not inspire my creativity to produce a project i am pleased with and that i believe fulfills the brief of geometric design.
