Original Content Writing #2 - Week 3

Post an image of a style choice you see this week - then discuss the lexical, rhetorical, and/or designed choices.

Now I know what everyone must be thinking, "What does this image have to do with the designated topic?" And truthfully, I'm glad you've all decided to have the exact same question. It makes it easier on me to answer you all. If you have another question; I don't care. Anyway, this image perfectly represents the beauty of style and how lexical, rhetorical, and design choices are important in any form of media.

You see, this horned bear can speak. It's something that you might not have known, but is a commonly known fact in this image. So, when she says, "Gao." It brings to mind, "what could it possibly mean?" But because the subtitles are designed so perfectly, we can draw from context clues.

First context clue: It's one word, which means it must be a yes/no statement or a greeting/farewell. Based on the paw being lifted up, it is most likely "hello" or "goodbye." Second context clue: The period after the singular word. Some people would look over such a proud and bold period as something "normal." But, it is actually a statement that discloses how meaningful the "hello" or "goodbye" is. Based off of the period, we can see the horned bear is either apathetic, or in a situation where exclamation would be too much. Third context clue: Gao. It's simple, yet beautiful. What does it mean? It's the sound that the horned bear made. What better way to articulate your own feelings than to do it with the sincerity of a proper Gao.
