Chapter 11: Free From The Claws of The Evil Kingdom?
“Wait, why is your boat leaving?”
Zeff stared at the man who was being locked down in one of the rooms. He was tied up and couldn't easily leave. Moreover, Kehos made sure to keep watch to avoid any escape. The man shrugged and then smirked.
“Oh I don't know, maybe the wedding is done.”
Zeff froze and glanced at Patty and Carne who looked like they were about to beat the man once again.
“What do you mean.”
“We had to follow you in order to destroy your boat if the third prince didn't comply so if the wedding happened, then there's no reason to stay.”
“I'm sure you're wrong.” Carne replied with his fists clenched.
“I wonder.”
Patty slapped him and left the room, furious. Zeff sighed and watched the spy for a minute before he smiled.
“Or maybe your plan didn't go as well as you expected.”
Zeff left the room after that. Him and Kehos exchanged a nod and the youngest took place near the door. The chef walked to the restaurant and asked someone from his staff if they could find a Newspaper while on land.
Then, he waited.
Maybe it took them an hour or so but a group came back with groceries and gave him the Newspaper. The chef took and opened it to find the biggest news there was: the wedding was a failure. The article was almost on the first page with a big picture of Germa's ship and Whole Cake Island. From what Zeff read, everything went South and turned into a huge battle which ended with the Strawhats fleeing and an alliance long gone.
Zeff sighed with relief and let his back rest on the chair he was sitting on. The reason why the ship was leaving was because they were not hostages anymore. So now, even though Zeff felt bad for not helping his son in the rescue mission, his respect for the rubber man rose by a lot.
Koil came next to him with his arms crossed. He was followed by Aryn and a cook who didn't look like he wanted to be here.
“So?” Koil asked.
“They saved him. He's safe.”
“Mh.. You have no reason to be stressed anymore so why are you still anxious?” Aryn questioned with a puzzled look.
“Because I still need to kick the Vinsmoke in the chin and make them pay. And hug my son.”
Koil and Aryn looked at him silently and the navigator put his hands on his hips before speaking.
“Well? Where are we heading then?”
“Where? The Strawhats fought Doflamingo with the help of the Surgeon of Death. Maybe we should go to Dressrosa first. I’ll ask my friend in Sabaody. Until then, we should worry about reaching the archipelago.” Zeff replied.
The chef stood up with the Newspaper in hand and held it towards the doctor. Koil eyed it and took it with a silent thanks.
“I’m going to see if they’re almost done. Once they are, we’ll leave immediately.”
Aryn nodded and went back to his work. Koil did the same but with his nose buried in the Newspaper. Zeff went out on the deck to see another group coming back with crates and barrels.
“Is it good?”
“Not yet, another group is still bargaining the prices because they are way too high. But they are the only group left so we should be ready when they come back.”
“Tell them we’re leaving in an hour. Our next destination is hopefully Water Seven so we need a lot of non-perishable goods.”
“Yes sir!”
The man jumped on land and started to run towards the little town in Jaya. There were a lot of pirates here but it was still possible to replenish the pantry if you were a bit aggressive. Which was perfectly fine with his crew who was rude as hell when they wanted to.
Zeff wandered around the ship, not feeling like going on land for now. The anxiety and fear for his crew and his son was at its lowest right now. Sanji was fine, as fine as someone who went through their personal nightmare could be, and they weren't being threatened anymore. Now he had to know where to go. Fighting Doflamingo certainly meant something. The Newspaper talked about a factory and a production but not much more… or maybe he didn't remember that well.
Chatter could be heard around him. May it be his crew talking and sorting the groceries or the one managing the maintenance of the ship. However, even though Zeff should be thinking of their next destination and how they would handle the future, what he wanted the most was to speak to Sanji but they were probably too far away to even reach them with their den den mushi.
The chef turned around and went back inside. On his way back, he caught a glimpse of Koil speaking to a cook. Apparently, the cook was being scolded for his stupidity or something like that. Zeff didn't stop to listen to the fight and walked towards the room where the spy was.
Kehos was still standing in front of the door. From what Zeff could see, the youngest hadn't moved a bit since he left them. The chef wondered if the kid could become any better than what he was showing right now.
“Still nothing?”
“I haven't heard anything coming from the room and I check every ten minutes if he's still here.” Kehos answered.
“Good. You're doing a good job kid. Didn't think you would find something to do on my ship.” Zeff replied while scratching his chin.
Kehos blinked and laughed nervously, clearly uncomfortable.
“I…I know me and my friends didn't leave a good impression on you back then… but you saved Yan and… you want to help your son, right? Family is important, be it from blood or from heart, once you find it you don't want to lose it. I know I can be clumsy and I take everything at heart but now… I just want to see the end of this journey, and I want it to be a happy end.”
The young man looked at Zeff with such determination, with such a strong passion that it reminded him of Sanji when he wasn't so caught up in his ideas of slaving for him until he kicked the bucket. Kehos was less hot-heated than the blonde but his kindness was the same. Maybe unconsciously Zeff saw it the first time and that explained why he agreed so easily to let him join them. But even though he could see a bit of his son in that man, Kehos was Kehos and Sanji was Sanji. No one could mix them.
“Kid listen, I truly appreciate what you've done until now. If you want to fight then fight, if you want to protect, then do it. Hell, we could teach you how to cook if you want to become a cook. However,” Zeff said with a hand rose to stop Kehos from speaking. “You have your whole life to explore the world. Right now we're going against something we don't even realise the grandeur and the strength. Koil would kill me if something happened to you and I don't want to risk it. So, you really wish to continue?”
Kehos put his hands on his hips and stared at Zeff with a silent determination in his gaze.
“Of course. I didn't leave my friends to go back now. They would kick me in the ocean before I even put a foot on land.”
The chef snorted which made the man standing in front of him smile.
“Ah! Maybe you wished to speak to the prisoner?”
“Yes, there's something I have to talk about with him.”
“Right, go on, I'll be behind the door.”
The man stepped aside and Zeff took the handle of the door in his right hand and opened the door. He closed it once he was inside and switched the light on to take a look at the spy still tied up to the chair.
“Eh? You came back to cry about the loss of your son, old man?”
“Too bad he escaped from everything and your oh so amazing kingdom left you behind.” Zeff smirked.
Zeff rested his back against the wall facing the man and crossed his arms.
“What? No you're lying, there's no way he escaped. You and your stupid crew would have been dead by now.”
“Guess it didn't work out in the end. Now I have something to propose. You only have to choose, I advise you to reply seriously if you don't want to be left in the middle of the ocean.”
The chef watched the man gulp and keeping his head high in a pathetic attempt to keep a bit of his dignity.
“First option. You tell us everything you know about this so-called alliance between you and Big Mom and then we'll leave you somewhere good enough for you to go back to your kingdom. Second option. You don't say anything so you don't betray your king but you'll become food for the next Sea King we'll cross paths with.”
The man had quickly understood that none of the options given to him were good. None of them included some benefits and there was no way he would betray his country.
“You expect me to betray the ruler of the North Blue? How high are you? Were you hit by some devil fruit? I thought you were smarter than that. Maybe the king gave you too much credit for dealing with the third prince.”
The spy laughed and Zeff frowned. Clearly he had underestimated his loyalty and devotion.
“Ah! I'll never betray such a king! Long live the king, and long live the Vinsmoke family!”
Maybe it was the tiredness which clouded his decision, maybe it was the boiling point of his emotions. But Zeff walked to the man and hit him with his fist.
The man's head turned to the other side and he went silent, shocked by the hit he had just taken.
Zeff's breath was ragged and his hand was trembling. A lot of things were happening in his head at the same time and he didn't like it. He didn't like to not be in control of his feelings and he didn't like that he had lost control so easily.
He stormed out of the room, still shaken up by what had just transpired. Kehos tried to speak but he didn't let him.
Zeff went to his room and slammed the door shut. He sat down on his bed and took a look at his hand.
The knuckles were red but nothing was broken, bruised or worse, bleeding.
“What the hell…”
It was the first time in years he had hit someone. Normally he used his legs to hurt but his body reacted before he even realised it. And Zeff was ashamed. Je taught Sanji to never use his hands in a fight but he had just done the same.
Was he really worth the freedom of his son? He doubted it. But now he understood, even if it was only for a moment, how stressful a life with them was and how it led people to react on impulse.
Taking a last glance at his hand, Zeff promised himself to personally kick Judge the moment he would see him.
He was going to make them pay for what they had done to his son.

We Spent Two Days Testing Air Mattresses—Here are 9 of the Best
An air mattress is a convenient way to have a guest bed ready to go in a matter of minutes. And because they can easily be deflated and packed into a compact size, they’re ideal for taking on camping trips and other overnight visits. We purchased and tested a range of air mattresses from popular home and camping brands, including Aerobed and Coleman, to find the best options on the market.
In our testing in The Lab, we evaluated the ease of setup, portability, and comfort of each air mattress. And if you’re concerned about deflation, not to worry—we conducted an overnight air leak test to assess durability, determining how much air escaped each mattress when loaded with 60 to 100 pounds of weight. Based on our tests, the below list features a wide variety of air mattresses, including options with internal air pumps, adjustable firmness settings, and built-in frames. But they all have a couple things in common: They’re convenient to use and comfortable to sleep on for a night or two.

What We Like
Extra-tall mattress height
Available in Twin, Queen, and California King sizes

After testing many different models in our Lab, the popular King Koil Air Mattress is our best overall air mattress. If you are looking for a comfortable mattress that is simple to set up and easy to carry, this is the choice for you. Equipped with a built-in pump, this mattress offers fast inflation and deflation using two separate knobs to control these functions. In fact, the whole set-up process took only seven minutes, and the deflation process was just as easy.
The King Koil has a fully-flocked top layer, so we found it soft and comfortable to lay on. Plus, the suede-like surface helped keep bed sheets in place. We did note that the sides of the mattress weren’t as plush-to-the-touch as expected, so the sheets were as snug around the mattress as they could have been.
Like other mattresses we tried, it did move an inch or two when we jumped on it during stability testing. We suspect that a grippier bottom or more flocking would help the mattress hold its position better. But even with the slight movement, it felt stable to use. And with its weight capacity of 600 pounds, this is also a great option for couples. It’s also available in a California King size if you’re looking for more room to spread out.
Overnight, we challenged this mattress with 100 pounds of distributed weight. It deflated from 21 inches to 19 inches, but this isn’t overly surprising for a mattress that lacks a secondary pump for overnight inflation. We also think it’s an excellent value—it’s neither the most expensive nor the cheapest air mattress on the market. But it’s priced right for its features, and that’s just one of the many reasons it’s our top pick.

For a basic but comfortable sleeping solution, look no further than the Coleman GuestRest Double-High Air Mattress. It costs less than many other options we tested but impressed us in the Lab with its comfort, stability, and support. Plus, it is durable enough for indoor and outdoor use and includes a built-in pump and carrying case. Whether you plan to take this budget air mattress on a camping trip or set it up in your home for overnight guests, it inflates quickly and can be ready for use in about five minutes, according to our experience with it.
A flocked surface and generous 18 inches of height made this bed feel extra comfortable while testing. There are no extra features like a built-in pillow or adjustable firmness (you must manually turn the pump off when inflating the mattress). However, it’s a great, budget-friendly option that is comfortable and easy to get in and out of. It doesn’t have extra bells and whistles, but it is easy to inflate with the built-in pump and will keep you or your guests comfortable.
This mattress didn’t budge when someone jumped on top of it, and it didn’t lose any height when we tested it overnight with 100 pounds of weight. We do wish that the carrying case included a handle to make it easier to transport around the house or in and out of the car while camping.

What We Like
Adjustable firmness
Included rolling case
Built-in frame
Elevate the air mattress experience with premium features like those found on the SereneLife EZ Air Mattress. This splurge-worthy air mattress is definitely more expensive than other options on the market—at the same time, we found that the extra features justify the higher price tag. These features include an internal air pump, a built-in frame, and adjustable firmness settings.
The manufacturer promises a quick and easy setup, taking only three minutes to inflate and deflate. It also automatically opens and closes by itself, allowing for a largely hands-off experience. The dial on the side of the mattress controls the pump’s operation, and you can adjust the firmness level through the amount of air you let in. When you’re ready to pack up this air mattress, simply turn the dial to deflate.
Like other high-end air mattresses, this version has air coils for added support and comfort, as well as a flocked surface designed to hold sheets in place. And at 45 pounds, this air mattress is on the heavier side, but we appreciate that it comes with a rolling case for easy transport.

If you are specifically looking for a queen-sized option, this is our top choice in that category. The Dream Series from SoundAsleep was one of several queen air mattresses we tested, and it stood out for its comfort, durability, and design. When fully inflated, its dimensions are just shy of a queen mattress—it’s 78 inches long and 58 inches wide, rather than 80 inches long and 60 inches wide. But the small difference in dimensions wasn’t noticeable in our testing, and we appreciate that this mattress has a substantial 500-pound weight limit.
This 19-inch-tall queen air mattress has 40 internal air coils to evenly support the weight. A flocked top adds to the nice appearance and comfortable feel of this mattress. It’s also equipped with a built-in pump that assists with inflation and deflation functions, but it should be noted that the pump could have worked more quickly. It took seven minutes to fully inflate this queen air mattress, which is longer than others with a built-in pump. While deflating the mattress was also slow, the deflate function on the pump made it a simple process. Once packed into the included carry bag, we found it to be very convenient to carry and store.

What We Don’t Like
Flocking could be plusher
Strong odor out of the box
Pump is noisier than expected while inflating
A dual-pump air mattress eliminates the worries of waking up on a saggy, deflated bed. And if you’ve ever gone to sleep on an air mattress, only to wake up with it flat on the floor, you’ll especially appreciate a dual-pump option. While not all air mattresses are equipped with this feature, the Insta-Bed Raised Air Mattress is our top recommendation for those that are. In our overnight evaluation, this option lost less than 1 inch of height while holding 100 pounds of weight. So if sleeping on a deflated mattress is a concern, the dual pump is very effective at preventing that. The 18-inch-tall air mattress is also comfortable and high enough to make it easier to get in and out of.
Setting up the Insta-Bed Raised Air Mattress is simple enough; it took us less than five minutes for the mattress to fully inflate in our tests. Plus, we like that you have the option of plush, medium, or firm settings. However, the motor was surprisingly noisy while filling the mattress, especially compared to others we tested. Also, keep in mind that you’ll hear some light noise from the motor while the mattress is setup, thanks to the Never-Flat secondary pump that monitors and maintains air pressure. We didn’t find it to be a nuisance during testing, but very light sleepers may want to reconsider whether a dual-pump air mattress is the best choice for them.
In terms of comfort, this mattress has a flocked surface but it wasn’t as plush as other options we tested. The mattress also had the strongest odor out of the box. In terms of durability and portability, we have no complaints. In fact, the mattress was in pristine condition after our testing, and we liked the fact that the storage bag includes handles to make it easier to tote the mattress from one location to another. And unlike with many other air mattresses, you can choose from three different exterior colors.

An air mattress with a frame elevates the sleeping area, making it easier to get in and out of bed. It also gives any spare room the feeling of a proper guest room when you need it. Our top pick in this category, the Ivation EZ-Bed Air Mattress, offers a unique design with a self-deploying frame that gives the bed a standard height of 24 inches. Of the ten air mattresses we tested in the Lab, this option was one of the easiest to set up—even with a frame! The process was largely hands-off, and it took only six and a half minutes to complete. The setup for this bed couldn’t be any simpler, as you just unzip the case, select the firmness level, and move the dial to inflate. In just a few minutes, you’ll have a comfortable bed for guests.
The Ivation EZ-Bed features dozens of support coils and adjustable firmness levels, including plush, medium, and firm. A flocked top gives the bed a softer feel and keeps sheets from sliding. When inflated, the frame gives the bed a substantial look worthy of a temporary set-up in a small guest room. It should be noted that this mattress may move a little bit under shifting weight, and it has the potential to lose some air overnight.
Take note that we had no concerns about durability during our tests. Deflating the mattress was fast and easy, and it collapses to fit inside of a zippered duffel bag with wheels. It would be easy to roll this air mattress out of a closet, but it’s worth mentioning that the case is a little heavy and bulky. It may be challenging for one person to carry it up a flight of stairs and would probably best be stored on the same floor where you plan to use it.

For a supportive and durable twin-size air mattress, the Intex Dura-Beam is a great option. This version is as long as a standard twin mattress (75 inches) and also provides an inch of extra width. Standing 16.5 inches tall, we appreciated the mattress’s lofty feel during our testing process. Ideal as an extra bed for one overnight guest or a child, the Intex Dura-Beam twin air mattress uses a built-in electric pump for easy set-up. It took six minutes to assemble the bed, and we gave the process a perfect rating for its simplicity. We also found that the pump made it faster and easier to deflate the air mattress, too.
This air mattress is designed to be comfortable for a single sleeper and features a flocked surface, built-in pillow, and raised edge. We found it well-designed, comfortable, and durable, so we gave it full marks for each of these attributes. We did note that this air mattress wasn’t as stable during our testing process, moving an inch or two when we jumped onto it. However, given the fact that the twin-size mattress has less surface area in contact with the floor, we weren’t surprised to see it shift a little. Convenient enough to store or transport it for camping, this air mattress folds into a bag with handles when deflated. We gave it a perfect score for both portability and overall value.

If you host sleepovers or have frequent visitors with small children, the Hiccapop Inflatable Toddler Travel Bed is a must-have. Intended for children 18 months and older, it has raised bumpers around the edges, which can help keep young ones from rolling off onto the floor. It also has a removable mattress section for easy cleaning in case of any accidents or spills.
We also love that the product has a built-in grab handle and comes with a travel bag, making it easy to take on the go. The mattress and pump would fit on a shelf or in a corner of your closet, and they are light enough to transport to a friend’s house or camping. Keep in mind that this air mattress is shorter than a twin-sized air mattress; it measures 62 inches long when inflated, in comparison with the 75 inches that is standard for twin beds. So if you have taller kids coming over, you may need a twin option instead.
The air mattress is made with heavy-duty vinyl, reinforced seams, and a velvet top for both durability and comfort. And although it lacks a built-in pump, the manufacturer claims that the air mattress should inflate in around 30 seconds or less.

When shopping for a mattress, you choose the firmness level based on your sleeping style and preferences. With an adjustable air mattress, you can select from plush, medium, and firm settings to fill the mattress to your comfort level. We tested several air mattresses with this feature but if adjustable firmness is a priority for you, we recommend the Skyrise Raised Express Air Mattress from Beautyrest. In our lab testing, this mattress was very comfortable, felt similar to a standard mattress, and provided sufficient back support. Not surprisingly, it earns high marks for both design and comfort. The only thing standing between this air mattress and a perfect rating for comfort is the fact that its inflated dimensions were shorter (by 1 inch) and narrower (by 2 inches) than a standard full-size mattress.
Instead of using a dial that fills the air mattress to pre-set firm, medium, or plush settings, the Skyrise Raised Express Air Mattress uses an electric pump to inflate the bed to capacity. Then, you control the firmness with the one-touch adjustable comfort button on the mattress. This gives you the ability to adjust the air mattress to suit your needs, rather than relying on fixed settings or manually letting air out from the valve. Once filled, this mattress is durable, stable, and supportive. It didn’t move when we lightly jumped onto the bed, and it lost less than 1 inch of air in our overnight weight test.
Take note that this adjustable air mattress uses an external electric pump rather than a built-in pump. In our testing, it took longer to inflate this air mattress than other models—over nine minutes in total. Once we figured out that the pump featured separate inflate and deflate functions, the process became more efficient, but we think deflating is a job best accomplished by two people.

Final Verdict
The King Koil Air Mattress is our top pick based on its comfort and convenience in our testing. The built-in pump makes quick work of the inflation and deflation process, and it’s fully flocked for a softer feel and to keep your sheets in place. For a more budget option, we recommend the Coleman GuestRest Double-High Air Mattress. We thought it was durable enough for indoor and outdoor use and it has desirable options, like a built-in pump and extra height for more cushion when sleeping on hard surfaces.

Our team of editors and testers spent 12 hours testing ten air mattresses in The Lab in Industry City, Brooklyn. We timed how long each one took to inflate (and also deflate for storage), how loud the pump was, and how simple and convenient the setup process was in general. Once each mattress was inflated, we judged them on their design and visual appeal, including practical factors such as cord length. Testers then checked out whether there was anything about the mattress’ texture or odor that was disruptive to comfort or sleep, how hard it was to get in or out of it, and even if a hard floor surface is detectable during use.
We then literally (and carefully) leapt into each mattress and noticed how well it stayed put or if it felt unstable or scooted across the floor. Another way we rated each one’s effectiveness was by measuring each mattress’ height before weighing it down with about 60 to 100 pounds of evenly distributed weight (depending on the mattress size) and leaving it overnight. The next day, we checked to see if they’d lost any support and remeasured their height to see how much they’d deflated. One of the most common concerns with air mattresses is their durability, so if any of them showed wear and tear or ripped during handling, we took note. Once they were deflated and put away, we appraised the portability of the packaged air mattresses. We noted if they came with a storage bag or case, how heavy they were to lift, and whether the pumps and cords were tucked neatly away. Finally, using all of our ratings, we determined the top air mattress for every situation and budget. We’ll also be updating our insights over time, after in-home testers have had the opportunity to use the air mattresses for several months.

Height
Before you browse through a handful of models and brands, you should decide how high you want your air mattress to be. Generally, shoppers have two options — low-profile and double-height — both of which have their own set of pros and cons. While low-profile mattresses are lightweight and portable enough to bring on a camping trip, they might require extra legwork as they may deflate quickly. Plus, some models may still come with a manual pump. A taller, double-height mattress may not be ideal for every situation, but they typically come with an electric pump to make inflation a little easier. Guests will also appreciate their soft, sturdy, and slump-resistant construction. Air mattresses with built-in frames (like the Ivation EZ-Bed Air Mattress) elevate the entire mattress, which helps it to feel like a proper bed when you have guests over.
Price
Fortunately, air mattresses are available at a wide array of prices; it’s up to you to figure out how much you want to spend. Make no mistake, air mattresses of all prices can run the risk of deflating or puncturing over the years. But often, pricier models are designed to hold up well for a while. Before you set a budget, think about how you will use this air mattress. Is your mattress going to be used for just a few nights, or is someone planning to sleep on it for an extended time? This way, you can decide how to get the best bang for your buck.
Some options have added features that increase the price tag. For example, the SereneLife Air Mattress, our “best splurge” pick, boasts a built-in frame, internal air pump, and adjustable firmness settings. Budget-friendly picks like the Coleman GuestRest Double High Air Mattress may not come with all the bells and whistles of premium models but will still do the trick.
Size
You’ll want to think carefully about the size of your mattress in terms of its dimensions and height. If you’re buying for kids, the Hiccapop Inflatable Toddler Travel Bed is a great choice. Or, a twin-sized option like Intex Dura-Beam will also suffice. However, adults and couples will likely prefer a full or queen-size mattress.
Inflation Method
Most of today’s air mattresses have pumps to inflate them, which saves you the trouble of blowing them up manually. However, check whether the mattress you’re considering needs to be plugged into an outlet or has a battery-powered pump; the latter is an essential feature if you plan to take it out into the wilderness.
FAQ
Air mattresses are available at a wide range of prices. However, you’ll likely see a difference in quality depending on the cost of the mattress. Before choosing a product, look closely at its materials and reviews.
Air mattresses last eight years on average. Depending on the amount of use or degree of damage (whether they’ve sustained a big tear or a small hole you can patch, for example), they may last for less time.
Since nights are typically cooler than daylight hours, the air in your mattress is bound to condense overnight, causing some deflation. Additionally, while many models are good at storing air, they’re not airtight. A small gap or opening on the mattress closure can slowly release air. Many air mattresses come with adhesive patches to repair any tears or rips.
If deflation is a concern for you, you may want to opt for an air mattress with a dual pump that will help maintain the air pressure, such as the Insta-Bed Raised Air Mattress.
It isn’t advised to sleep on an air mattress every night. Since its inflatable nature doesn’t offer as much support as a typical mattress, it can cause discomfort after prolonged use.

Erica Puisis has been a writer for The Spruce since 2017, specializing as a product researcher for home products, including mattresses, bedding, and small appliances. To find the best air mattresses, she compared the features and benefits of some of the most popular options on the market—paying special attention to design and comfort features. The research also relied heavily on firsthand testing reports from The Lab, where we tested 10 air mattresses for their stability, support, durability, portability, and more. Our recommendations all use electric pumps for faster inflation and deflation, and most have a built-in pump to further simplify the process.

Upcoming infrastructure projects boosting real estate in Chennai 2021.
Infrastructural development is a cornerstone in improving the economic conditions of a city. Chennai has embraced the development of transport and infrastructure since the early 90s; which has resulted in its economic boom.
The other impact of such large scale developmental projects is in real estate; it's never been more profitable to buy property in Chennai in 2021.
The newer developments especially around South Chennai and Greater Chennai will bring a surge of land development projects that will boost the real estate market. Why would South Chennai be a good real estate opportunity?
The belt consists of a variety of IT companies and technology parks along the Old Mahabalipuram Road and the Grand Southern Trunk Road. Perungudi, Siruseri, Sholinganallur, Tambaram and Mahindra World City. The resultant large workforce gives a pull in demand for housing. The government has planned massive infrastructural and transportation projects that will improve the connectivity of these regions.
The following government undertaken projects aim to transform the cityscape in the next three years.
Renovation of Chennai Airport:
Both the domestic and international airport terminals in Chennai are currently not equipped to tackle the rising traffic. The planned revamp of the airport involves building new domestic and international infrastructure on either side of the old airport. Apart from that, the government is also investing 20,000 crores into building a new airport in the proposed area of Sriperumbudur. Expected to be completed in 3 years, this new airport will give raise to rapid commercial land development projects nearby.
The 6 Lane Flyover in Vandalur:
To redirect the local traffic in the southern districts, a 6 lane flyover construction project is in progress near the Grand Southern Road and Vandalur-Kelambakkam road junction. This undertaking will boost residential projects in Potheri, Guduvanchery and nearby areas. Buying plots and houses in this part of Chennai will be highly profitable then.
Outer Ring Road 2:
The road network connecting Nemilichery, Nallur and Minjur will connect NH-205 (Nemilichery) with the Chennai-Kolkata Highway (NH-5) and TPP road at Minjur. This 6 lane road project is an ambitious undertaking that would improve the connectivity of our national highways and provide a hassle free travel experience. Reports suggest that these metropolitan townships, each of around 1,000 acres, will be constructed along the stretch of ORR.
Roadways projects:
Major 6 lane roads are being transformed into 8 lane roads to ease traffic and improve connectivity. Major congested roads like OMR, GST, Mount Poonamallee Road, Vandalur flyover, Porur flyover, and other important junctions will be a primary focus for this project. The road stretch between Tambaram-Vandalur and Vandalur to Guduvancheri will be widened and will cost around Rs 5,000 crore. This will help reduce traffic in the areas of Singaperumal Koil, Oragadam, OMR and Vadalur, making it an inclusive and well connected locality to purchase real estate.
Elevated Corridors:
There are mainly 3 elevated corridors that have been approved from the central government. The Tambaram-Chengalpattu corridor will ease traffic and provide hassle free road travel experience.
Widening of the GST road:
Work to widen a 13.5 km-stretch of the Grand Southern Trunk Road from Guduvanchery to Chettipunyam has begun. The road has a very high vehicle count of over two lakh a day, leading to congestion on a daily basis. The NH wing of the State Highways Department has taken up the work on behalf of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) at a cost of ₹209.32 crore.
AIIMS Hospital, Chennai:
A 200-acre AIMS facility worth Rs 200 crore is in the process of being constructed in the potential Chengalpet area in the Kanchipuram district. This would create a phenomenal boost in demand for land development projects here.
BRTS Corridor:
Chennai will soon get its own Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) to expand the use of sustainable transport in the city. There are seven corridors; Koyambedu-Poonamallee, Koyambedu-Ambattur, Koyambedu-Madhavaram, Saidapet-Siruseri, Saidapet-Mahindra World City, Thoraipakkam-Chromepet and Koyambedu-Saidapet. The Saidapet to Mahindra world city is the longest (43 Km) and Koyambedu to Saidapet corridor is shortest (9.2Km). The project will be 120 Km long and is going to be accomplished in three phases.
Metro rail extension:
A new metro rail line has been planned to connect the Airport to Kilambakkam. Soaring over 5 flyovers, this line is crucial in subverting the busy traffic of the GST road. With over 15 stations, this 15.3km line would boost the ease of travel and help residents commute to and from Central chennai. Metrorail projects bring an influx of commercial projects, making it one of the best localities to buy property or plots in Chennai.
The Chennai metropolitan area has a host of exciting real estate investment opportunities. The upcoming infrastructural projects and upgrades will bring forth an inclusive, travel friendly and connected cityscape. If you are interested in buying properties or plots in Chennai, Wisdom Properties can help you find it!

Adobe of Divine: temples on banknotes
The soul is your temple- Chanakya. A Temple is a house or the adobe of divine. It is a place where every human being despite religion, caste and creed visits to find salvation and peace. For many, a temple is an ultimate place for worship; every individual has his own perception when it comes to the sanctum of gods. The oldest reference of the temple or house of gods is found in many civilizations across the globe. Arguably, the world’s oldest known temple is the Gobekli Tepe. The earliest written evidence about the temple is spectacularly described in the Rig Veda. It mentions about the adobe of Lord Varuna, it is described to have a huge structure with thousands of pillars made of gold and silver. In Indian traditions temple is referred by many names like Mandir, Mandira, Ambalam, Gudi, Kavu, Koil, Kovil, Déul, Raul, Devasthana, Degul, Deva Mandiraya, and Devalaya. This aspect of Indian culture is beautifully depicted on the new series of banknotes issued after demonetization. They illustrate the beautiful concept of the temples on banknotes.
The new Indian banknotes with value 10, 20 and 50 rupees depict three of the most beautiful ancient Indian temples on banknotes. The sanctums of divine featured on the notes are the jewel of the rock-cut architecture Kailashnath temple at Ellora, the (black pagoda) Sun temple of Konark and the Vittala temple of Hampi.
Vittala temple of Hampi
Hampi is the marvelous evidence of the ancient Indian Vijaynagar Empire. Hampi-Vijayanagara was the world’s second-largest medieval-era city after Beijing and the richest in India. It was the domain of one of the greatest Indian Kings Krishnadev Raya. Muslim sultanates conquered and looted the city in 1565, after which the city was only left with ruins.
The Vitthala temple suited in the center of the Hampi city is the most beautiful Hindu temple in Hampi, built in the early-to-mid-16th century. Its entrance is stylized with gopuram and other two side gopurams. The main temple stands on a paved courtyard and smaller ones are located on the east. The Garuda shrine is shaped like a stone chariot in the courtyard. It had a tower, which was removed during the late 19th-century restorations. There’s a big, square, open-pillared, axial community hall in front of this shrine.
This wonderful symbol of the Hampi site is featured on the latest Rs 50 note issued by the Reserve Bank of India. It is one of the beautiful featured monuments of the new series of temples on banknotes
Kailashnath temple of Ellora
The most beautiful and undeniable wonder of India is the mighty Kailashnath temple of Ellora. It is the epitome of rock-cut architecture in India. The temple is a megalith, carved from a rock cliff face. It is excavated from top to bottom which makes an overseer spellbound with its engineering and sculpture treatment.
The central shrine of the temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Most deities in the temple and its courtyard on the right are dedicated to Shaivaite and left side deities are Vaishnavaites The shikhara of this temple is in Dravidian style and the main mandapa is supported by sixteen pillars.
The creation of this temple is dedicated to the patronage of Rastrakuta King Krishna I in 8th century AD but the Chalukyan and Pallava influence can also be seen here. This temple has the whole story of Ramayana and Mahabharata carved on the temple panel. There is also a notable carving of the Ravanaanugraha inside the temple complex.
The 20 rupee banknote of the new series of temples on banknotes issued in 2016 illustrates this wonder on its reverse.
Sun Temple of Konark
The sun temple of Konark is a spectacular architectural marvel of ancient India, adorning the eastern shores of the Indian peninsula. This human-made phenomenon represents the tranquillity of temple architecture and the art of Orissa.
This black pagoda was built by the King Narasimhadeva I of the Ganga dynasty in the 13th century AD. It’s believed that a workforce of twelve hundred artisans and architects have invested their best skills to create this wonder. The structure of this temple is like the chariot of the sun drawn by the seven horses and twelve pairs of the intricately carved wheels.
This grand temple of the sun god consists of a Deula (sanctum), Jaganmohan (public hall) and the Natya Mandir (performing hall). The walls of this grand sanctum represent the daily life, style, art, religion, and culture of that period. The beauty of this structure is so enduring that it has found its place in the world heritage list.
To promote and acknowledge this wonder of India, Reserve Bank of India has featured this temple on the rupees 50 banknotes. It is an incredible specimen in temples on banknotes series.
India Post has also issued a se-tenant stamp in 2001. It features the Rekha deul/ Jaganmohan and the Konark wheel.
Indian banknotes feature many of the marvelous wonders of India to showcase the pride of Indian culture and advanced science behind the monuments. Please wait for our next installment to know more about other charming Indian monuments.
Till then keep collecting…

$100,000 Barretts Juvenile – Los Alamitos Racecourse
Race 6 (Saturday, September 22, 2018: 7:28 p.m./ET: 4:28 p.m./PT)
Six and one half furlongs on the main track (two-year-old colts and geldings)
Closing weekend of the Los Alamitos Daytime Summer Thoroughbred Meet features two-year-old colts and geldings looking for their first stakes victory in the $100,000 Barretts Juvenile. Let’s try to end our meet the right way and cash in on the feature race of the weekend:
#1 BIG IMPRESSION broke his maiden at the $40,000 claiming level over this track in his career debut but came back to finish 38 lengths behind the winner in his most recent afternoon appearance, an allowance event at Del Mar. At least we know he likes this dirt track, but that last performance was too poor to ignore. Pass.
#2 MY MANDATE was purchased for $135,000 as a yearling and this son of STRONG MANDATE started off his career with a solid second place finish against maiden special weight company. He now adds blinkers for trainer Mark Glatt, who hits at a 23% rate with maiden second time starters. The fact that this guy comes from a barn where horses typically improve after their career debuts’ makes him one to keep an eye on.
#3 GALILEAN is an interesting item. This Cal-bred son of UNCLE MO was purchased for a whopping $600,000 by his connections and sports a handful of quick, six-furlong workouts heading into his career debut. Yes, you read that right: this is his first career start. Drayden Van Dyke rides for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer. We’ve seen a number of top quality two-year-olds come from the Hollendorfer barn with Van Dyke in the irons. Is this another one?
#4 KID KOIL took four tries to break his maiden but finally put it all together when in for a maiden $40,000 claiming tag last time out (over this track). Sometimes the lightbulb turns on for a horse after they break their maidens, but there is reason to believe this guy will need to pick up the pace to beat the best entered in this spot.
#5 SEVEN SCENTS cuts back from a route to a sprint after a maiden special weight win over this track going a mile for trainer Craig Lewis. The aforementioned win came on September 6 so he wheels back in just 16 days for this first start against winners. We know he will be super fit and his prior two races, both sprints, were far from disgraceful. He’s not a pretender…he’s a contender.
#6 OUR SILVER OAK broke his maiden at first asking over this track in June and came back one month later in the Graduation Stakes at Del Mar, finishing ten lengths behind the winner as the favorite. He broke slowly in the Graduation but ran too poorly for that bad start to be used as a legit excuse for the loss. He’ll need to break better today and run faster than in his two prior career races.
SELECTIONS
#3 GALILEAN – The next nice two-year-old from the Hollendorfer barn?
#5 SEVEN SCENTS – Route to sprint angle.
#2 MY MANDATE – Blinkers on for career start #2.
LONGSHOT VALUE PLAY- #6 OUR SILVER OAK – Broke his maiden over this track.
WAGERING STRATEGY
I’ll make a straight win bet on my top choice.
