Planning to get myself metal knitting needles for the first time. Right now I'm trying to decide between Addi Rockets and Knitter's Pride Nova Platinas.
Thoughts?
(Right now I'm leaning toward the Addis just because there's a store here in Montreal that sells them, which means I can go look at them before buying them, whereas I can only find the Nova Platinas online. And I've heard that the Addi cable is more flexible?)

if I was a cartoon character I'd be one of the recurring background guys and my main bit would be that every episode I grip my knitting needles too tight and snap them

knitting is the only thing i’ve ever really been good at. and it feels really fucking good to be confident in something!
i recently decided to kind of challenge myself.
socks are my favorite thing to knit and i am a die hard magic looper, it is my absolute favorite way to knit small in the round.
so i am challenging myself to try and knit a pair of socks in some other ways; dpns, nine inch circular, and flexible dpns.
i stated with dpns because i have some and have used dpns before so i know how (it’s how i first learned to knit in the round) and i honestly expected it to look like garbage but i am pleasantly surprised!! it actually looks good and i am enjoying knitting this way!
Tumblr media
i am getting shorter needles tomorrow though because these 8 inch ones are too long.
but yeah! it’s really awesome to have a skill that you can be confident in! feels good.

Have any of you tried Knitter's Pride Mindful Lace Tips?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's a store near me that sells them, and I'm tempted to get them because they'll fit on my Knit Picks cords, but they don't look any pointier than the Knit Picks Options Sunstruck tips I already have.
(I'm trying to knit lace with a cheap yarn that is splitty and has no stretch, and I feel like slipperier, sharper needles would help.)
As far as I can tell, all of the Mindful needles are packaged as "Lace Tips" when sold separately. Which is a little odd, since none of the Mindful sets seem to be marketed as lace needles. Are these the tips that come in the sets or are they sharper?
ETA: I've been watching some reviews, and apparently all the 5" Mindful sets come with lace tips, and they're actually a tiny bit sharper than the ChiaoGoo lace tips.
ETAA: Why do these cost $3 on their website? It probably evens out with the shipping? Either way I'd rather just walk down the street and have them tomorrow.
ETAAA: I bought them! Turns out the ones I was looking at when I took these photos the other day were the 6mm. The 3.5mm are cheaper.

I made these pride socks earlier this year! I got some yarn custom dyed for them from VeganYarn (the UK one) and decided once I started them that I would grab some more of my yarn from VeganYarn out of my advent from two years ago to make one into a trans flag. The yarn is her old sock yarn base, the new one is slightly different, this one was recycled cotton, bamboo and elastic, I figured they'd be great for the hot weather due to the naturally cooling qualities of the fibres, I was right, perfect summer socks!
