herpeton runs the gauntlet
so, just for the fun of it, I've decided to pit my oc herpeton against other ocs from artists on instagram I'm quite fond of. go check out these other creators and their ocs when you get the chance, And remember, this all in good fun!
Opponent 1: tamashi karito/reaper (belongs to hypno_mha)

would they fight: no, their ideals and the fact that they're both vigilantes would mean they would more likely team up.
Who would win: reapers quirk gives him the ability to create radioactive smoke, but herpy's reptilian physiology gives him high resistance to radiation. And outclasses reaper physically.
Opponent 2: kiyomi sakurai/hydra (belongs to ratgum)

would they fight: maybe, she is training to be pro hero, and would likely be stigmatized ahainst vigilantism.
Who would win: hydras quirk allows her to deliver devastating chi blows, and even paralyze her opponents, but I don't think she could keep up with herpetons sheer speed and reflexes.
opponent 3: yuriko hisakawa/kawayu (belongs to hisakawasensei

would they fight: probably not, although she is a pro hero, kawayu has used her quirk without a license. Not to mention herpeton is on good terms with toshinori, whom shes romantically involved with.
Who would win: kawayus quirk allows her to shoot blasts of hot water from her hands. Herpeton's hydrophobic skin makes him impervious to water attacks. Add on his resistance to heat and kawayu has no real way to harm him.
Opponent 4: rias stones fukui/heartbreaker( belongs to lalenrasch)

would they fight: no, heartbreaker is romantically involved with spinner, who herepton is ln good terms with.
Who would win: heartbreakers quirk allows her to make anyone fall in love with her and mind them via eye contact. Thing is, herpeton has protective eye clvering like a snake, which has protected him from quirks triggered by eye contact before. While heartbreaker is equipped with a titanium staff, herpetons speed and strength far outclass hers.
opponent 5: yuri merei/duppy (belongs to pathosketch)

would they fight: yes, although they are in a relationship currently( with permission from pathosketch herself of course) duppy and herpeton have duked it out numerous times.
Who would win: although duppy's quirk gives her varied abilities by summoning ghost limbs of people and animals, herpeton's strength speed, durability, healing favtor, and just plain bizarre fighting style would give him the upper hand.
Final boss: ryuzo takamura/heat wave (belongs to jfl_artmotivates)

would they fight: no, despite being a pro hero, heat wave is aware of the hpsc corruption and chooses to stand against it, he also faced mutant discrimination like herpeton, so they would definitely empathize with each others plight.
Who would win: heat wave's quirk allows him to absorb heat to boos his strength, durabilitiy, speed, or to shpot oit as energy blasts, he has been shown lifting trains in workouts, so he's likely as strong, if not stronger than herpeton, who peaks at 100 tons. But herpy has defeated foes like venus, whos plant physiology allows her to lift 250 tons max. So I think herpy can take heat wave, but it won't be an easy fight.

In Kiyomi Fukui’s Apologetic Garden, guests were invited to write a letter of apology to whomever they wish, including themselves. Letters were placed in an envelope along with a seed, and then planted in a special garden bed from which a garden will grow. This is an exercise in reconciliation—meant to help allow us to forgive others, as well as producing a more verdant life for ourselves.

Artwork Spotlight // Conversations
Kiyomi Fukui & Natalie Mik, 2016, Spoken Words
Fukui and Mik, who both examine the conversation as material for sustainable living have collaborated on a participatory art project titled ‘Conversations’. As an interactive performance piece, ‘Conversations’ is activated and performed by its participants inside the Thoughtitarium, a sound augmenting hemisphere built by artist Neil Mathis.

Kiyomi Fukui
MFA student in printmaking at CSULB
My recent works involve interacting and responding to ecological cycles, using printmaking as a main tool. Some processes start with archiving materials from sites that I visit: dirt, ashes, leaves, mushrooms, and other organic residue, which I later flock onto paper as part of my imagery. Through the process of this kind of mark-makings, I hope to deepen my understanding of what it means to be part of my environment.

Mind Games is a one-night-only hybrid event featuring diverse art forms in an arrangement of intermedia, all invested in physical and psychological concentrations and meditations. Each work is engaged in a different way by the audience as a means of creating both contrast and connection through shifting formats. The works collectively explore concepts of focus, forgiveness, dislocation, grief, connection, construction, remembrance, the unconscious, and transcendence.
Saturday, October 21st, 5pm-10pm
The Icehouse
625 W. Anaheim St.
Long Beach, CA 90813
*Parking available on adjacent streets. Also accessible via LBT 45, 181, 191, 192, 232.
Christine Hudson will cover an area of the floor with over one hundred thousand handmade porcelain teeth, intended to be traversed by foot. By crossing this sea of ceramic works and reading the artist statement, the work offers understandings relative to personal grief and discomfort.
Mimi Haddon will create an encompassing site-specific installation formed out of repurposed material and light, addressing notions of consumption, space, waste, and accessibility. Recycled materials are reformed offering dimensionality and life to the space they inhabit.
In Kiyomi Fukui's Apologetic Garden, guests are invited to write a letter of apology to whomever they wish, including themselves. Letters will be placed in an envelope along with a seed, and then planted in a special garden bed from which a garden will grow. This is an exercise in reconciliation—meant to help allow us to forgive others, as well as producing a more verdant life for ourselves.
Rob Brown and Davy Sumner, both artists and sound engineers, will create a coordinated soundtrack expanding upon natural reverberation by emphasizing harmonic structure in space through simultaneous instrumentation. This performance will occur 7pm-8:30pm.
Neil Mathis's Thoughtitarium is an eight-foot diameter sound-modulating hemisphere fabricated with burlap, plaster, and water. The structure augments the sounds produced by its occupants, providing space for a unique communication experience. This space of communion hearkens aspects of religious architecture and provides an intimate space for personal conversation for two to six people.
Ihab Ali will wall off a section of the basement using bricks, which will block off access to part of his installation over the duration of the evening.
Matthew Dumpit creates an ephemeral light sculpture by illuminating pieces of seemingly damaged metal, therein revealing a shimmering river of light on the walls of the dark basement.
In a designated space, Sam Medeiros will take on challengers with a handmade wooden chess board requiring participants to drive the knife-like chess pieces into the board with each advancement. This game emphasizes psychological distinctions between participants and viewers.
