New Holiday for the LDS Liturgical Calendar
On June 10th, we burn Grandison Newell in effigy outside of the Kirtland Temple.
If you don't know about Grandison Newell—liar, thief, and fraud—it's a wild ride.
https://byustudies.byu.edu/article/the-kirtland-safety-society-and-the-fraud-of-grandison-newell-a-legal-examination/
Especially now that the Church has purchased the Kirtland Temple, it's worth understanding how that became necessary in the first place. Grandison Newell made a fortune illegally and unethically enriching himself by cannibalizing the estate of Joseph Smith. And he did so in secrecy, using straw men to hide his guilt and legal liability.
When I was at Temple Square, my German companion made me recite The Standard of Truth every morning before we left our apartment.
From now on, whenever I hear "No unhallowed hand can stop this work from progressing," I will think of Grandison Newell and smile. And if I ever see him in my journey through the cosmos, I will go out of my way to visit whatever isolated zoo he occupies, just to rattle the bars of his cage.

I know you guys have been waiting patiently for the second part of my Egyptian Mythology & the Gospels Post (the one about the Facsimiles)
Look, there's a lot about the Facsimiles. I'm going number by number in the Facsimiles, comparing and contrasting the Scholarly & Joseph's Translations. It probably won't be ready for another week
So, here's something to tide you over until then
Facsimile 1 details Anubis (or a priest of Anubis) performing the mummification of Osiris (or Hor, the owner of the Papyrus)
Joseph Smith says it is Abraham's Salvation from the Idolatrous Priest of Elkenah (who I believe is probably a Cthonic Deity from Ur, but I can't be certain)
This shows that this was a moment of rebirth for Abraham. Mummification prepares the deceased for their journey through the Duat (the Spirit World). Abraham's Salvation leads him to abandon Ur, and become a nomad (and his journey to Egypt can be seen as a descent into Hell, similar to Christ. And as we've seen in my last post, Abraham associates both Himself & Christ with Osiris)
Facsimile 2 is a map of the Universe, and this is true for both
It is a hypocephalus, which was placed under the head of the mummy to protect them, and guide them through the Duat
Meanwhile, the Joseph Smith translation focuses on the Temple. Kolob, according to one Theory, is a type of Christ, just like Christ is the center of the Temple Endowment. The Endowment is likewise also to guide us. And let's not forget that figures 3 & 7 specifically mention key-words, and that 8 "cannot be revealed unto the world; but is to be had in the Holy Temple of God"
Facsimile 3 shows Anubis & Ma'at bringing Hor to Osiris & Isis
Joseph Smith said it was Abraham teaching Pharaoh's Court the Principals of Astronomy
This was the hardest to connect, but I think that, as we saw in Facsimile 2, Astronomy isn't necessary literal in the BoA. I think Abraham is teaching the Court the spiritual principles we find in the Temple (Humanity is Divine, we came here to grow & find joy, and we have to live certain principles (make & keep Covenants)), using the Stars as a metaphor, which is even more hammered in by the Creation Narrative immediately following it
And, while discussing the KIrtland Egyptian Papers, I want to cover the Book of Joseph. The Book of Joseph is an (allegedly) untranslated portion of the KEP. It is a copy of the Book of the Dead
I say Allegedly however, because I maintain it was translated. First off, Joseph was alluded to have known the contents of the Book of Joseph as early as 1835. Oliver Cowdery spoke about aspects of the Book of Joseph (including the story of Adam & Eve, something called "Enoch's Pillar," and the Judgement). But, most telling, in my opinion, the Book of Abraham and the Nauvoo Endowment (the Ritual Drama, as opposed to the KIrtland Endowment, which is the modern Initiatory) were both given to the Church in 1842. So yes, I believe the Endowment was received from the Book of the Dead (and Freemasonry)
So, there you go. A super watered down overview of the Facsimiles, and a theory about the Origin of the Endowment. I'll try to get the post on the Facsimiles done by next Sunday

Initiatory
Washing and anointing (also called the initiatory) is a ritual purification ordinance, similar to chrismation, that is part of the temple endowment ceremony practiced by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) and Mormon fundamentalists.
In the deeply sacred ritual, a person, generally over the age of 18, is sprinkled with water, then anointed with perfume or oil as a cleansing before God.[1][2] Once washed and anointed, the participant is dressed in the temple garment, a symbolic white undergarment.[3] The ordinance performed by the authority of the Melchizedek priesthood, and by an officiator of the same sex as the participant,[4] is "mostly symbolic in nature, but promis[es] definite, immediate blessings as well as future blessings," contingent upon continued righteous living.[3] These ordinances of washing and anointing are referred to often in the temple as "initiatory ordinances" since they precede the endowment and sealing ordinances.[5]
Like other temple ordinances, washings and anointings are also conducted on behalf of deceased individuals as a type of "vicarious ordinance".[6]
The LDS Church states the origins of these rituals can be traced back to the biblical period, where anointings were used to sanctify individuals and objects, while washings were used for ritual purification.[2][5] The LDS Church introduced washings and anointings in the Kirtland Temple in 1836, before revising the rituals in Nauvoo, Illinois in 1842.[1] The modern LDS Church only performs these rites in temples set apart and dedicated for sacred purposes according to a January 19, 1841 revelation that Joseph Smith stated was from Jesus Christ.[7]

It's that time again
UNHINGED GENERAL CONFERENCE PREDICTIONS
The reason we bought the Kirtland Temple was because it can, with any 4 other temples, become a giant fighting robot (Kirtland forms the head, obviously)
The Community of Christ didn't need it anymore because their Spiral temple is now ready to launch as a fully operational space lazer.
We're gonna start doing Monks now. Kung Fu Monks, Illuminated Manuscripts Monks, Singing Monks, the whole thing.
We're also doing Nuns now, but only lesbian cowboy nuns. Gotta ease into that.
The resurrection starts halfway through the Saturday evening session, but it starts with J. Golden Kimball who hops up to the podium and just stars cussing people out.

Kirtland Temple purchased by LDS church for $192.5 million
(RNS) — In a stunning announcement Tuesday afternoon (March 5), Community of Christ — a Midwestern denomination that traces its founding to Mormon prophet Joseph Smith Jr. — said it has sold the Kirtland, Ohio, temple that was the first temple for either denomination.  The transfer, effective Tuesday, included not just the nearly 200-year-old temple but several other major properties,…

Mandrake Cools Off the Camel
By Ed Staskus    The first thing the Camel did was head for the back door, being the back door man he was, until he saw Oliver and Emma guarding it. At first, he thought it was some kind of trick Mandrake the Magician had dreamed up. The do-gooder didn’t in his wildest dreams think a couple of pre-teens were going to stop him and his daughter, the Brass Monkey, from escaping the Kirtland Temple…
