its finally done! my entry for the awesome @KinohCanYouNot 's DTIYS event starring their oc Cynari kiddo Ori (reference) as well as both his dads ofc :3

ive been following their art for a while and was meaning to draw fanart one day regardless, but this dtiys presented the perfect opportunity to stop putting it off ^^'

Kinoh has other ships/ ocs as well, including a recently created KazuTomo kiddo! they also go in-depth with crafting the lore for each one. i could not recommend more highly that you check out their art and drop a follow :D

- i couldnt be bothered to look up actual tcg cards (sorry cyno) so its just random rainbow squares lol

- i somehow lost my peach coloured pencil that i use for skin tone QQ ive looked everywhere it coulda possibly rolled and fallen and cant find it. i may have to buy a whole new pencil set just for that cuz i use it a lot =^=

- i should also invest in a ruler for times i need to draw straight lines. i could prob use it to line up text neater too

Parents: Kinoh and Tavh'li :) Siblings: She's the oldest of five! There's Dyaala (1 year younger), Yuhl (6 years younger), Mhet (7 years younger), and Kinoh'a (10 years younger = the twins' age). Grandparents: ...around, I'm sure... I have vague ideas of a large extended family, but they're staying vague until I know more about her home. In-laws and Other: She's adopted the twins as additional little brother and sister if that counts. Pets: Her family had miscellaneous creatures around when she was little, but none of particular note. I don't think chocobos are considered pets.

Abilities: The big (obvious) ones are fighting, singing, playing instruments, and dancing. Is "inspiring people" an ability? Beyond that she's a jack of all trades — loves picking up every skill she can, but doesn't usually dedicate enough time to them to become a master. Hobbies: Again, everything she can get her hands on, at least briefly. It's a bit difficult to categorize things separately as "hobbies"... like she doesn't really put aside time to do certain activities; she just starts going in a direction and keeps going until she stops lmao.

Colors: Years ago, Yuhl told her that purple was "her color" and she ran with it, but honestly she loves all sorts of bright colors. Hot pink and yellow are up there. Smells: Grass, and rain. Streets full of different kinds of restaurants. Fresh laundry. Textures: Silk. Grass again. Marble. Not a whole lot that she dislikes, though. Drinks: Water with lemon or mint. Anything she's never had before. Whiskey.

Smokes: Nah, zero interest in it. Especially since she values her voice so much. Drinks: Socially. She'll enjoy getting completely trashed on special occasions when she's quite certain the end of the world isn't nigh. Drugs: Anything with significant health effects is off the table immediately, but she could be tempted to try anything that's fairly harmless by a friend. It's also possible that she and Thancred got super fucking high on their first trip to the Great Work due to a slight miscommunication about dosage differences between Arkasodara and smaller races... Mount Issuance: Her black chocobo and Argos are canon. Other MSQ-relevant ones like Maggie and the Yol are still around but probably not really "on call." Everything else is nebulous. Realistically does she own a flying car? Probably not. Can I still say she loves blasting the stereo on the Regalia? I sure can!!! Been Arrested: If she managed to avoid it from the bloody banquet all through Heavensward, I'm gonna say she's avoided it everywhere else too.

Excerpt 05

World building : A downloadable game called 'My fantasy life' is MMPORPG with regular updates. A game where you can form guilds, create and design your own home, dungeon crawl as well as civilian part time jobs. Before that, players are expected to go through  a lengthy tutorial mode. Despite the engaging gameplay, there are still frequent users who delete the game from their device prematurely due to this feature. Eventually, the producers decided to cease regular updates of the game and the game has remained stagnant.

What they don't know is, the data lives on. Or, more to the point, the avatars made continue the game for them, coming to life on their own.

... Oh? What do we have here?

You hear a voice, but you see nothing but darkness. Still, something inside you bubbles up and you wish you were able to see the owner of such a nice voice.

Oh, good. You're breathing, can you hear me? Pardon me, but I don't think that's the optimal place to be taking a nap, uh...

A name comes to you, you think it's yours.

... Is that right? Well, sir Skye Knight. I'd say it's time to wake up, don't you?

You finally open your eyes, and in front of you is a young, strange looking man. No, that wasn't right. He didn't look stranger, in fact, he still looked human. But what was unique about him were his ears. They were... pointy.

"That's right, I'm an elf." He chuckled, his head moving ever so slightly that his long hair swished a bit. You can't help but feel enthralled by the simple motion. He offers his hand, and you take it readily, already comfortable  with him for some reasons. "It's nice to meet your acquaintance. If you don't mind, I can help you get settled in" The ravenette smiled sincerely, and it did something to your heart.

You frowned, options seem to swim around your head.

You went over them, trying to figure out which response suited you best.

You frowned at the only available options, even though you were thinking of one of them earlier. You didn't really like them all the much. You struggled against your own mind, it seems. When suddenly, you feel liberated. You could even control your own expressions now, which you noticed only now that you couldn't earlier. Probably why you couldn't force your eyes open the moment you heard Kinoh's voice, much as you wanted to.

"That would be nice," You smiled at the friendly elf, "I'd appreciate it."

The elf seemed surprise, maybe it has something to do with your response? Maybe you should've chosen one of the options after all? But he managed to compose himself.

"Forgive me, I must've made quite a face." The elf said apologetically, going for a smile. "you've just deviated from the game's choice responses."

You widened you eyes, blatantly stupefied. "Wha? I'm in a game?"

"Technically, yes." The elf shrugged, and you seem to take relief at the carefree response. "But there's been a trend going on the past year, and users tend to give up on it eventually. By the time, Avatars such as yourself are able to act by themselves. It's strange, they usually quit after the tutorial; you're time being the earliest record to date. Sadly, you'll still have to follow the mechanics of the game and go through the entire tutorial; it's something of a rite of passage, you see. But on the other hand, you're able to decide freely on your own terms."

You continue to stare at the elf blankly.

"Er, right. Sorry." The elf looked chagrined, rubbing the back of his head. "I'm used to free Avatars getting the general basics by this point. Uh, let's start from the top then, shall we?" He held out his hand once more, seeming all the more sincere than he had been earlier. "My name is Kinoh Ethrian. I'm considered the NPC tutorial guide of this game, but now that you're disconnected from your user you can consider me a friend, if you like."

Friend... You like the sound of that, it felt better than what he should've merely been to you. If you understood his implication right, there didn't seem to be any necessary attachment between the two of you. "Sure, Kinoh. That sounds nice. I'm in your care."

An odd expression seems to pass the elf's face for a brief moment. It provoke concern from you, but before you can comment on it, Kinoh immediately recovers.

"I'll be sure to make the most of it," Kinoh said, with a tight smile.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, pixellated data materialized and a small cottage in front of you and the elf. Somehow, the neighboring buildings adjusted to the inclusion of the new establishment and hardly anyone batted an eye.

"After you."

At that offer, the door to the cottage opened up by itself. You stepped in, followed by Kinoh. The home was mostly bare, having only a chimney, at the concrete pavement sat a well-sized bucket with a smaller pail inside it at the corner, with only a simple curtain hanging in front of it. You suspect that's where you'll be bathing for the time being. And a basic stove with a pot at the center of the room, and a mattress to the side.

"I know it doesn't look like much," Kinoh called your attention back, and you turned towards him. "maybe we can do something about that, customized it a bit to fit to your preferences."

A color panel showed beside the bed, alongside were two arrows; upward and downward. Experimentally, you press on the one going up. The color panel displayed a solid blue color. You pressed on the arrows again, but it seemed like there were only three colors for now. You noticed, while you were going through the choices, the previously bare-looking mattress now had covers, the design shifting according to the color panel. You finally decided on blue and the panel disappeared, and your mattress now had sheets on them.

"You can also choose an additional furnishing."

You look back to the elf, and see three floating cloud bubbles above his head; a long yellow couch, a flower vase, and a single table with a stool.

You decided to be practical. No sooner than you made your choice, your home seem to be coming together well. Kinoh seemed satisfied himself.

"Don't worry," The elf said, "as you move along you'll be able to get more furniture, upgrade your home to fit in more rooms, maybe even to house a roommate or two."

You turned to the elf, raising a brow. "So, you said I'm disconnected from my user right? And that I'm free to make my own choices outside the ones from the game's design?"

Kinoh nodded, looking a bit perplex at the purpose of the question.

"Then... are you still following the game's design for you?" You asked, rubbing the back of your head. "Cause, you know, I'd like it better if you'd also go off script with me."

Kinoh widened his eyes, as if in enlightenment. "Ah, right. That... yes, that would be nice." he smiled, nodding. "As you wish, Sir Skye."

"Skye is fine."

"Skye it is then." Kinoh absolutely beamed, "Would you like to continue on with the day, or would you rather rest for a moment? This is also a part of the game's natural flow, but you could deviate if you wish."

You shrugged, as you didn't feel tired at all. "Show me what else there is to do here."

Kai had snuck off again for some extra training, there was no way he would fall behind that Kaedehara kid. unfortunately, he happened to waken a sleeping ruin grader and, stubbornly chose to try and fight it. Tomo was taking an afternoon stroll nearby and rushed in to save the reckless kid, cutting down the grader easily. this is the scene after this incident.

Whewww buddy. And here I was thinking that I was gonna start doing mini updates more frequently. Poor, foolish me. Here’s your irregularly scheduled catch-up time!

First up, the playlist from 2/8/17. This one was still when UCI Men’s Basketball was rocking and rolling (well, not too long into the playoffs, at least). As a result, it’s a much shorter list than the norm. We did get to play primarily brand new tracks so hopefully that helped to make up for the length of the show.

Scenario dialogues 1

"How about Avatars that signed up the same time I did?" "Who's leading their tutorial if you're stuck with me for the mean time?"

"Technically, still me. But... We just don't see them." "It's complicated to explain. Just... consider thousands of servers. Different tutorials are being completed, and only once they are, will the Avatars really be recognized by the natural inhabitants of the game. You could say that the program's made into a life of its own." "But... to get technical, I don't find myself bothered to be 'stuck' with you."

"Yeah, I don't mind either."

"Yes, I quite enjoy it." "If only it were to last..."

"If only?"

"Sorry... Heh, spoiler. I guess," Kinoh smiled a bit, "you'll find out eventually."

"What if my user decides to try the game out again?" "Will I have to start over my progress?"

"No, unlike other online games, this one doesn't have cloud storage." "One of the other reasons the users don't feel motivated to stick around."

"Why is Kinoh notorious?"

"Because, off-record, he's the reason this game doesn't really keep users for long." "I mean, your user's immediate quit is proof of that. His one of the default things that should've been fixed in previous updates before the producers officially stopped. Or better yet, deleted. He's not exactly necessary."

[After Skye completes his 30th day quests, and triumphed against his final challenge, he immediately won a grand amount of prestige points making him an instant legend across the land.]

Kinoh smiled as he watched Skye mingle with the rest of the community, happy for the Avatar who had been looked down upon previously due to his User's immediate disconnection. Now, he finally had a chance to make something of himself.

It's just too bad he couldn't be a part of it.

The raven elf felt his smile falter, as he pulled out his data records. The spells he 'mastered' during the tutorial course with Skye flickered. Once the Avatar decides how to place himself in the community, Kinoh's data will be formatted.

As well as his memories with Skye. What will remain is just the inkling, the vague knowledge that he had, in fact, guided him through the start. But that's all it will be. Until the data will remain simple cache in the background.

Skye felt himself floating, once again trapped in a void of darkness. He wondered if he was dreaming. Then, he sees Kinoh — or a data of him? The Avatar perceived he was seeing different versions of data from different servers.

Similar to how his tutorial started, Kinoh finds these Avatars asleep — on a pasture, he now sees — and once they decide on their gender and appearance, and turns to the guide the community materializes around them.

Unlike him, these Avatars follow the dialogue flow and Skye frowns as he see Kinoh's struggle to remain accommodating to some rude responses. The nicer ones are just snarky, but all the same, Skye can see that whoever controlled them, or whatever type of persona they morphed into, was just eager to get over the whole process. He saw when the users finally detached themselves from their Avatars, and how the impatience of said Avatars to get started on their lives became more prominent.

The liberated responses were even more abusive towards Kinoh, and some even tried to use force to demand the elf to skip the thing entirely. However, as it was written in his code, Kinoh couldn't do anything about it. Finally, Skye watched as they continued to put up with it; relying completely on their own common sense and disregarding Kinoh entirely. It's not that Skye couldn't see where they were coming from, he realized himself that most things Kinoh taught could be learned by himself if he tried. But Skye enjoyed the elf's company, he liked the sound of his voice, so it wasn't difficult for him to let the system be.

Then, eventually, Skye arrives to the point of the game he was about to get himself in come tomorrow. With the prestige points each of the Avatars earned, they decided how they were going to go about in terms of being in a guild. A few had enough to start their own, stocking up their inventory with rare weapons and equipment, only accepting heroes with their standard prestige points. Others joined existing guilds and expanded their reach and reputation. Others went solo, focusing on building up their homes, socializing with fellows Avatars and unlockable NPC heroes alike and forming a family with them. Skye found that one appealing.

What he didn't find appealing was the one thing all these Avatars commonly did; gave no recognition to Kinoh whatsoever. And as if in a loop, he sees the countless times the elf's data had been reformatted, sees the pain in his eyes as he looked at passing Avatars and unable to explain his confusing sadness, or generally seeing how the rest of the community regarded each other as if each had some sort of value while Kinoh simply got a cold front or was simply left ignored.

Skye saw the attempts Kinoh made to socialize with the characters, when he didn't seem to have an Avatar to tutor at the moment, but they just laughed at his attempts and scoffed at the fact he was a useless NPC. Until Kinoh just about gave up, and stuck to his design, maintaining a courteous profile at all times.

Despite the rude, scripted responses.

Despite the ridicule from his fellow NPCs.

Despite the scorn his Avatars eventually directed towards him in their impatience.

Despite knowing his inevitable end game; to be disregarded.
