Quantum Error Studio Reveals New Test Footage, Confirms PS5 Release First

The Quantum Error Twitter account has been posting in-game test footage, a new screenshot, and doling out tons of information on the project.

Teamkill Media recently announced their latest next-gen project, Quantum Error, in late March along with a three minute teaser trailer. And now the studio is showcasing some in-game test footage on Twitter, as well as sharing a brand new screenshot and answering questions from fans:

Any footage we post in these first stages will be from our development PCs. we will make note if the footage is on the hardware later down the road of development.

Confirmation that the developers are aiming for 60 FPS, 4K resolution with full ray-tracing. For those who may not know, ray tracing is a rendering technique that generates an image by tracing the path of light as pixels in an image plane and simulating the effects of its encounters with virtual objects. In other words it simulates realistic lighting:

We are targeting 4K 60 FPS full ray-tracing. The quality settings of the ray-tracing will depend on how things run.

Ray-tracing is not to far off from doing full dynamic lighting, it’s reacts like real world light. In engine so far pretty easy and results are absolutely beautiful

We also have confirmation that Quantum Error will be developed for for the PS5 first, then ported to the PS4:

However, it remains to be seen whether this will be a launch title. Which makes sense since those announcements are usually made with much bigger fanfare:

It seems that TeamKill Media is aiming for the stars with their new title, which will be an excellent way to see how well developers can adapt and fully realize the specs of the next-gen consoles. Quantum Error an atmospheric first-person horror shooter that’s set in a moderately far future where Earth is no longer a safe place for humanity. Based on the reveal trailer, it seems we are mostly likely taking on the role of a firefighter in an oil platform (or something similar)in the Farallon Islands. According to the opening narration, referring to “beyond the bounds of space” as the key for advancement

TeamKill’s previous titled, launched back in November 2019, was Kings of Lorn: The Fall of Ebris. It was their debut project that had excellent visuals but unfortunately suffered from various technical issues. Hopefully this go around we’ll have a more polished game, especially considering the hardware they’re working with now.

First-person dark-fantasy survival-horror game, Kings of Lorn: The Fall of Ebris, gets a launch trailer

Kings of Lorn: The Fall of Ebris is a first-person dark-fantasy survival-horror game developed and published by TeamKill Media. This is their first game, if I’m not mistaken and I’m getting Dark Messiah, Painkiller, Hexen and Blade of Darkness vibes. I will definitely give this game a go. I will let you know down in the comments if it’s actually worth forty bucks. I hope it does.

Here is the game’s description according to its Steam store page.

“The world of Lera has fallen ill to an unstoppable plague and as the King of Ebris, you – Farren – franticly seek a way to bring an end to your people’s suffering in Ena: The Kingdom Above All Kingdoms. And to rid your world of this illness once and for all.

In the weakness of your distress, your Regent – Gulbrand – speaks to you a tale of hope, a way to purify the world by means of the Spires and the extraordinary resources that await beyond the realms.

Desperate for answers, you leave Gulbrand in charge of your kingdom to trek out to the other six Kingdoms of Lera and reopen the Spires; the other kings willing or not.

You succeed in your endeavor, however with the reopening of the last Spire… something is wrong. The world begins to fall apart, the heavens turn dark and the oceans go dry. In the aftermath of your deeds, you find yourself stranded in the middle of a deteriorating world, only thoughts of worry to comfort you, as you trek onward to get back to your kingdom.

The journey back takes you three years.

And when you arrive… you do not recognize your own kingdom.

Forsaken and betrayed by your own Order, fight back against the forces of a long-forgotten realm as you try to save existence from the evil of a usurper king in pursuit of what lies beyond immortality in the Kings of Lorn: The Fall of Ebris.”

Kings of Lorn: The Fall of Ebris ile tanıdığımız TeamKill Media, geçtiğimiz haftalarda Quantum Error duyurusunu yapmıştı. Quantum Error – tựa game mới hấp dẫn cho các hệ máy Playstation 4 và 5

Team Kill Media đã công bố một tựa game hoàn toàn mới có tên là Quantum Error được dự tính sẽ ra mắt trên cả hai hệ máy PS4 và PS5.

Mới đây, chúng ta lại tiếp tục được công bố một trong những tựa game đầu tiên góp mặt lên PS5 là Quantum Error sau đoạn trailer giới thiệu từ nhà phát triển TeamKill Media. Được biết, đây chỉ là một studio indie được thành lập bởi một nhóm 4 anh em vào năm 2016 và đã cho ra mắt nột trò chơi duy nhất là Kings of Lorn: The Fall of Ebris.

Bất chấp sự gián đoạn kế hoạch ra mắt PS5 do sự lây lan của COVID 19, Sony đã chia sẻ rằng PS5 vẫn được ra mắt đúng lịch vào cuối năm nay. Vì chỉ mới trong giai đoạn đầu phát triển nên tất cả những gì chúng ta biết được về Quantum Error là game thuộc thể loại “cosmic-horror first-person shooter” cùng với một con số ấn tượng 99.9% các vật thể trong game đều được mô phỏng vật lý.

Về thể loại game thông qua đoạn trailer đầu tiên chúng ta có thể thấy game có hơi hướng khá giống các game như Prey, Soma khi lấy đề tài là nhân vật chính bị cô lập trong các khu công nghệ cao phải tìm đường thoát ra, không rõ game có nh��n mạnh yếu tố sinh tồn không vì có vẻ nhân vật trong game được trang bị khá đầy đủ, thậm chí anh ta còn có một khẩu minigun để tha hồ xả đạn.

Về mặt đồ họa của Quantum Error nếu đánh giá dựa trên đoạn gameplay trong trailer thì không có gì nổi bật khi so sánh với các game PS4 trong thời điểm này chứ đừng nói đến những tựa game PS5 sắp ra mắt.

Nhưng khi lên các trang Twitter của studio làm game thì chúng ta được chứng kiến các hiệu ứng vật lý được dự tính cho vào game khá là chân thật. Đội ngũ phát triển có thể không vận dụng hết sức mạnh của card đồ họa trên PS5 nhưng sẽ sử dụng nhiều tới Ram cùng Cpu của cỗ máy nhằm mang lại những hiệu ứng vật lý ấn tượng nhất từ những cảnh cháy nổ, đến những vật thể nhỏ trong không gian đều có thể mặt cho bạn phá hủy trong quá trình tìm đường thoát ra.
