"When it first happened, I thought to myself it was not so bad. Others have had worse wounds. Others have died. I was luckier than them.”
He drew in a deep breath, then let it out slowly. “I tried to think it was not bad. My life would continue on. But no. Life stops. Much is lost. Everything is lost.”
Then he said, “When I dream, I have two hands."

Revisiting again the Eld forest Arc, do you think that the rest of the group, Marten, Dedan and Hespe started a bet on how long would it take for Kvothe and Tempi to fuck?
Like they see that they start to get along, they hug each other, Tempi laughs at Kvothe's jokes (even if no one finds it funny) they are clearly flirting, and suddenly they do all their activities together (tracking, going to Croson, bath time), they spend hours together on their own far from the camp and when they return they are sweaty and Kvothe even starts to pick on Tempi manners. They probably thought they were a couple already now.
Then Kvothe leaves with Tempi to go on a trip to the mountains instead of joining them back to Severen, did they think they were celebrating their honeymoon or smth?

The Cthaeh actually got bored of the whole 'Give advice that kills a shitton of people' millenia ago.
It escaped the tree, set up a few things to make it seem like it was still there, and fucked off to Temmerant to have fun (in other words: petty vindictiveness rather than large scale evil).
It sets up a persona, gains enough power to fuck with people, lives out a human lifespan, then resets elsewhere.
It is currently Master Hemme, and has been for the last 40 odd years.

Been following you for a while but that ask was the first time I've seen KKC mentioned as far as I remember. I've never read it. Still in the middle of chewing through Guide myself but I could always use a longer reading list - you happen to have an elevator pitch?
Oh boy, KKC is Hard to pitch, but ill do my best. Its high fantasy, with an Extremely hard magic system, as well as a more mysterious soft magic system. The frame story is a not-quite middle aged innkeeper, actually a depressed mage in hiding, telling his life story to a famous scribe/researcher, whos tracked him down despite the innkeeper's best efforts to disappear.
The innkeeper (Kvothe) was (is?) a bard and a mage and a thief, and his life story starts with him happily travelling with his family as well respected travelling bards (and a fantasy ethnic/cultural group equivalent to the Romani people). It takes a quick dive into horrific tragedy, and from there things get more and more interesting.
Its genuinely one of the best stories ever written imo. The worldbuilding is incredible, the prose is gorgeous, and the characters are all so much fun. However, it doesnt have much of like...a single Plot. Kvothe has his own long term goals and whatnot, of course, but its very much the life story of a high fantasy hero (or villain, depending who you ask), so its very non linear, as far as plots go.
It definitely has its flaws (there arent nearly enough important female characters in the first book, and we still havent gotten book 3 after like a dozen years, so most of the Big Mysteries are completely unresolved), but Id still highly recommend it to anyone interested in fantasy bricks!

“But only a fool claims there is no such thing as love. When you see two young ones staring at each other with dewy eyes, there it is. So thick you can spread it on your bread and eat it. When you see a mother with her child, you see love. When you feel it roil in your belly, you know what it is. Even if you cannot give voice to it in words.”

Kvothe when saying goodbye to Dedan, Hespe and Marten so he could accompany Tempi to Haert, and instructing them to report to the Maer:
Kvothe: While I'm gone, Dedan, you're in charge.
Dedan: Hell yeah!
Kvothe whispering to Marten: Marten, you are secretly in charge.
Marten: Obviously.

“Listen, if tomorrow we pulled into Biren and someone told you there were shamblemen in the woods, would you believe them?”
My father shook his head. “What if two people told you?” Another shake. Ben leaned forward on his stump.
“What if a dozen people told you, with perfect earnestness, that shamble-men were out in the fields, eating—”
“Of course I wouldn’t believe them,” my father said, irritated. “It’s ridiculous.”
“Of course it is,” Ben agreed, raising a finger. “But the real question is this: Would you go into the woods?”

I think it's slightly concerning how hard I relate to Auri in The Slow Regard of Silent Things. I'm that way with my room, everything has a place and if one thing is moved everything is out of harmony. Obviously this is one much more logical level than Auri however when Auri faced the broken side of the gear up I found myself thinking "huh, I feel like it makes more sense facing down." Am I going crazy?
