I've been into Kingdom Hearts for a month now and I need to show someone how I love this series or else I'll explode

(I've been listening to "Dearly Beloved" at 4am for an hour everyday since I heard it first (when I got into the series) and I don't think there's any hope for me left)

Saw someone saying that Sora should’ve been a girl and that KH would be all the better if he’d had been one

And I’m like what…?

Sora is a Disney princess, he fills all of troupes of classic Disney protagonists; optimism, smiling in the face of adversity, a taste for adventure, naivety, wearing his heart on his sleeve. It’s amazing that he’s allowed to be all these things and be a boy, he’s allowed to be loving and emotional without being scorned. All of this wouldn’t hit as hard if Sora was a girl

It would also erase the impact of his friendship with Kairi, we don’t get many close straight friendships and it’s a breath of fresh air that they are allowed to hold hands, hug and show affection for each other without being romantically involved

I think the worst thing they said was that it would make Soriku more likely to be cannon if Sora was a girl. Which is just ew

That fact everything Riku does is for Sora and that he cares so much he would sacrifice anything is so very important and making Sora a girl would just make it less impactful. Because Riku giving his all to protect his dear friend with his life means so much more because they are boys and that they are boys that love and care about each other

And if Soriku endgame actually comes to be, them being together so so immensely impactful as they would be a truly Disney couple with all the troupes and references without just being part of the crowd because they are boys it would bring such a shockwave that would never come to pass if Sora was a girl

We need more protagonists like Sora, be them guys or girls or neither, as Sora as a character shines as bright as the sun and his pure heart and love for his friends is something we need more of!

I hope in KH4 Riku gets himself in trouble.

I hope in KH4 Sora is the one to protect Riku and not the other way around.

I hope in KH4 Sora realizes what Riku means when he says "Strength to protect the things that matter."

I hope in KH4 Sora finds his strength. His inner one, not the one connected to friends.

I hope in KH4 Sora and Riku have a REAL talk about the shit that happened to them.

I hope in KH4 Riku tells Sora how much him and Kairi mean to him. And how they kept him going.

I hope in KH4 they laugh together.

I HOPE IN KH4 KAIRI SHOOTS DOWN FROM THE FUCKING SKY LIKE A BADASS TO SAVE THOSE TWO IDIOTS.
