Do you think one could attain decent-ish ability to read Japanese just by studying kanji? Specifically asking because the kanji learnin' service "wanikani" is the single Japanese resource that works best with my brain, but then there are separate resources for grammar and vocab and and and.....

You will get REAAAALLLLLYYY far knowing only the kanji but you're going to have to know hiragana and katakana at some point too. Tofugu, the company that did Wanikani, has two mnemonics-based guides for the kana that are basically Wanikani Lite. They're how I learned the kana and I swear by them.

Hiragana are especially vital to learning kanji; you won't be able to use 99% of Japanese-English dictionaries without them. BUT they're pretty easy and the rules for using them are consistent. You won't have to remember any irregular exceptions for any of them.

I haven't tried it yet, but I've heard really good things about the Crystal Hunters manga series as a fun/low stress way to learning Japanese vocab and grammar. It eases the reader into new concepts and then repeats them throughout the chapter so you remember them. There are free vocab and study guides/lists for each chapter too. Might be worth checking out once you get some kanji and the kana under your belt? The first book is also free.

BOOK 6 PART ONE SPOILERS

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

I feel like talking about book 6, so here are my thoughts

(Including some screenshots)

I apologize in advance for the lack of organization, it skips around a lot and it isn't really proofread either.

Book six low key feels like a fan fic. Idk if it's because I read it all at one and my brain isn't registering it yet or if I've just been anticipating it for too long.

Not saying it's bad or anything, I actually really like it so far, it's just different from the rest of the books.

Omfg it's halarious, it's pretty much Idia babysitting the overbloted students meanwhile everyone (including Idia) is complaining about everything.

Ortho's voice in the beginning sounded weird to me. I've been spoiled on book six before it came out in En, and if what I saw was right or if I remember correctly it might be relevant? Not sure though, but to not spoil anything not out in En yet, I won't elaborate.

Speaking of Ortho though:

Yes Ortho, the target has to be alive. I love you but if you kill my cat I swear to whatever deities you believe in the consequences won't be pretty.

Also Crowley's voiced response is so funny to me, he just screeches.

M/c's house is even more ramshackle now, and has a giant cauldron in the floor (thanks Deuce).

Speaking of Ramshackle, Vil pays each VDC member either 50,000 marks or their share of 50,000 marks (before STYX comes btw), but most of them end up donating it to fixing up Ramshackle and refurbishing it.

Although most of that money is probably going to go to rebuilding it now...

I love how one of the dialogue options in that chapter was referencing the huge cauldron in the middle of the lounge.

Epel speaks a lot more country like in this book and I love it, yes king yee haw.

Who was going to tell me Rook has 5 siblings?? Who?? And he's the third oldest of like 6??

(I can only imagine what the rest of them are like lol)

His family also has magic teleportation pads across Twisted Wonderland, because his ancestors liked to travel??

We also learn Rooks unique magic, although like Trey and Jamil it's diffrent in English than in Japanese.

But Arrow Afar sounds kinda cool though, I like it better than I See You. Unlike Trey and Jamil I think it's an upgrade. (Doodle Suit and Snake Whisper are so much better than Paint the Roses and Snake Charmer smh)

Arrow Afar lets Rook track the location of what or whoever he casts it on which is really fitting for his character. I thought his unique magic would explain the uncanny amount he knows about literally everyone, but apparently not.

Rook also magics the M/c a Pomefiore dorm uniform and one of the player dialogue options are "I can feel my posture straighten just from wearing this"

We also find out why Rook wanted to go to STYX, and it was to make sure Vil got his skincare products. That's it. Epel followed him because he was pissy. And M/c just wanted to talk to Grim.

Tbh I love the Epel Rook bonding time we got out of book 6 so far, I love the dynamic they have.

When they breached STYX and told Idia why they were there, Idia really said "Me and the boys at three am looking for B̵̳̫͇͈̞̝͖͒̅Ę̸̡͇̹̻̙͉̮̪͕̱͖̏̂A̶̺̤͓͑̇́̂N̸͖̟̺̤̣̱̣̠̊͐̔́́̒̾̐̕͘ͅS̵̢͎̳̳͓̤̜̓͜͜"

Idia made Grim cry. I don't care if it was indirectly, I'm going to break his kneecaps /j.

His robots also knocked Ace and Deuce unconscious and I just want to make sure they're ok, we left before they woke up. I wanna make sure they're ok??

Crewel also referred to them their actions as "phenomenally stupid".

When the Charon bots abducted Azul it was kinda funny seeing Idia just casually chatting to them. Like everyone was fighting for their lives for all they knew and Idia is just like "You gotta chill out a bit, someone's gonna sue you..."

It's pretty much cannon now that if you lock two or more NRC students in a room together, they will without a doubt pick a fight with each other /hj.

I can't add anymore images to this post but trust me when I tell you Idia shipped the students in a cargo crate together like they just came out of the movie Madagascar.

Riddle was on top of Leona during shipping and when Leona told him he was squishing him Riddle replied with "I was wondering what that muscley pillow was."

"Yeah, tell that to they guy whose lap you've been snoring on for three hours." - Leona

After discussing what they knew about the situation and Idias involvement, Azul comments that if he had known, he would have tried harder to get Idia indebted to him. And then I believe it was Jamil or Riddle who commented about his one track mindedness.

What happened to Crowley?? Charon took him as well, but he's only mentioned like once after and no one confirms that he is or isn't at STYX.

We learn about the Shroud curse, and that it eats the any blot that accumulates in them but without a constant blot production, it would start to eat their magic. We also learn that that's why Idia and Orthos hair is fire.

Idia also mentions the blue flame of Grims ears and that Grim is cursed too, but he can't figure out what the effects are, who casted it, or why. But he says that it's a very old curse.

We learn more about how blot works and about the phantoms (the monsters that appear behind the overbloted students).

The amount of cryptic likely foreshadowy comments were astronomical.

That's all I can remember off the top of my head and from any screenshots I took, so let me know if I forgot anything worth mentioning and I'll try and add it in.

— i’ll make this a bit shorter because i’m getting carried away 🥴 but with music, lando definitely asks for your opinion on what to include in his setlist when he dj’s. he values your input above all else. also, i think he’d be a good influence on you in terms of helping you feel calmer when you meet new people. in the same way that he helps you with your perfectionism, i can picture him being very grounding reminding you that you don’t have to be nervous, or that he’s sure whoever it is you’re meeting will love you just as much as he does 🥹 he always wants you to feel as good about yourself as possible

— AND FINALLY he definitely becomes besties with your brother. i’ll be taking no criticism for this, lando is the type of guy to be best friends with his s/o’s brother. like at first i think your brother might be a bit wary, but lando eventually breaks down all those barriers and they become inseparable (to the point that you sometimes feel like the third wheel 😭) also !! we know lando’s not very adventurous with his food, but i think he’ll always try something if you say you like it (like spicy food): however, neither of you can cook, so the kitchen when you try to cook together is absolute chaos (kind of like you guys in general 😭)

I was floored when I searched jjba in the site I usually watch anime at and there were so many options, i kinda got confused but i found a 'watch order complete guide' so that's fixed but i never knew jjba didn't have that many fillers? apparently, all the ova's related to the story so it's recommended to not skip anything, excited to watch it tbh, long continuity types r a grind but the complex storylines are pretty rewarding when they finish im p sure, excited to see the animation too tbh

and ohh u both watched the prev seasons together? were you both able to understand the plot properly? (/genquestion/lyttheart) it never rlly occured to me that people watch anime 2gether since i usually rewind a lot (/lytheart) and oh wait, i'll make sure to hold off on reading the manga till after i finish watching the show then, ty for the warning :')! and i just searched for 'jjba part 4 rohan blue hair' scene, i don't know if i found it but i found some other scenes with different and p unique colorings. i'm really curious how they integrated that with the anime actually though i imagine it was around the fight scenes since those scenes typically have the most effects? and woah, his design definitely looks nice tbh, i don't know why but the bit about you saying "kinda cuz theyre pretty not bizarre (in comparison.)" reminds me of that one meme with the guy in yu-gi-oh w/ the normal hair as opposed to literally even in the series lol

YAYAYAYA the certified best way to watch it is to watch part 1 & 2 (phantom blood + battle tendency in the same like period of time?? like dont take a break after phantom blood ends (by break i mean stop watching for a month) then you watch 3, 4, then the rohan kishibe ova's. if ur in it for the fact its jojo id say to watch the anime ova version, then to watch the live action one later whenever you feel like it- its jojo but not art so it doesnt really pack that exact same punch after the ovas you watch part 5 and then 6 the one thing i'll say about jojo (other than every other thing ive said :D) is that araki does not give a fuck he WILL kill the characters you love and he will NOT feel sorry even the main character isnt safe i honestly would not reccommend reading past part 6's manga because part 7, 8 and 9? havent been animated yet the mangas just good to read because its the original you feel araki's like self in it (more) or whatever

i still enjoyed stone ocean aswell i knew what happened but it still was like "w w o w that just happened" also it was the first time id seen cgi used in anime and it was super cool

the using song names for abilities stuff is like, really reoccuring i think almost every power after part 2 has some musical/tarot connection theres a lot more obvious (?) examples of this like "man in the mirror" named after the michael jackson song, or notorious b.i.g, or the one named metallica depending on the kind of music you like its more easier to pick up on the references

kira is VERY plot relevant. so plot relavant i insist you do not search him up at all it might be hard cuz ive been gassing him up but once you get there youll see why part 1/2 are different for a big reason which will become immediately clear 10 minutes into part 3 for that reason a lot of people say to skip the first two parts when starting but i just say No....? like. theyre plot relevant, they set the stage, and they bring in joseph and jonathan!!!! those guys are amazing and telling people to skip those part because what? cause its not like the rest is such a slap in the face them not being the same is the point!! part 1 and 2 are set way back like way back like with cowboys so theyre not going to have the stuff/ thing that made part 3 forward different because they just werent there technology wise!!! part 1 is such a charming part because jonathan is literally such a sweet heart like SUCH a sweetheart and part 2 is brought together by joseph and these other 2 characters (spoilers) plus part 1 is literally the most important season ever. i wont say why but. it is. season 3 only works because of the stuff it takes from 1 and 2, literally in show or just in like writing or art (as in the people from part 1 and 2, and the way the storys work) I AM RAMBLING.

Hi, I'd like to ask for a match-up if you don't mind. This might be fairly lengthy or idk sorry about that. I use she/her and I think I'm pan although I would much rather not use labels for something as fluid as sexuality. My love languages are quality time and acts if service.

I've been told that I seem unapproachable to those who dont know me, which is understandable since I'm reserved around others most of the time. However, that's not the case at all with my close friends. I'm far more relaxed and expressive around them.

I'd say I have very low self esteem and find nothing to like about myself so I rely heavily on external validation, but only from people who mean somethingto me. I fear being perceived in a way i don't want by them so that sometimes leads to me being insincere with them at the start of relationships.

This will be a cliche but I've had my gifted kid burnout lol. It lead me to have a horrific work ethic like even right now I'm procrastinating on revising for an exam lmao. As for my grades they vary according to how much the subject interests me. Like I score really well on subjects like Math, English and psychology but in subjects like chemistry and physics, they're insanely unpredictable depending on if I liked that topic or not (anywhere from 40-100[which is sad tbh wish I was more consistent💀 also idk the us grade equivalent]) so I'd say interest plays a really important role in my actions.

That being said I gain and lose interest in stuff pretty quickly so it is really hard to talk about hobbies or likes and dislikes lmao. But a general trend that I've noticed is I unironically like pretentious shit lol. Psychology, law, philosophy and literature interest me very much. Other than that I've recently been getting into astrology bc of a friend and it's kinda fun?? Lol. Oh and for what it's worth I'm a Capricorn sun and moon and Virgo rising.

I also really like writing and have a collection of poems, some of which are embarrassingly edgy but in my defence I wrote them while having an emo phase back in middle school. But I still enjoy writing poetry and other short pieces. I also like singing and I think I'm slightly above mid at it idk. Other than that I like spending time with people who don't drain me on good days.

I tend to mess up a lot in relationships bc idk I somehow end up convincing myself I'm not worthy of them so I self sabotage a lot. Idk if this is relevant but I struggle a lot with mental health but I sought help this year so slay. I can also get pretty obsessive over them due to my pretty bad mental health. And uhhh like idk but if those feelings are not returned it just crashes and burns lmao like I end up hating them, which is honestly awful on my part, but I have to hate them too get over them. But eventually that hatred fizzles out into indifference but idk.

But uh sad stuff aside, I love passionately lmao. Like I spoil the fuck out of my friends and people I love. Handmade gifts, surprise trips, playlists or idk, just lying on the bed vibing in silence I just like hanging around with them. I make all of their problems mine and don't stop until I make them go away completely, or if I can't, I feel guilty about it. I'd say I like helping people. I want to be a therapist because I want to help people feel better or at least let them have some semblance of peace. Seeing that my efforts have made someone feel better makes me inexplicably happy.

And after all that would looks matter lol idk. But like it's safe to say that I'm conventionally ugly lmao. But I don't really mind it. I've made peace with it.
