I haven't drawn humans in quite a while so I decided to try getting back into it with some Jem screenshot redraws. The order of them is pretty random. I just picked stuff that felt like it'd be fun to do.

I'm hoping to post more Jem fanart than I currently have been. I got a buttload of pencil crayons that I really like and I just want to keep using them.

By the way, I must tell you guys that I got the colour I used for most of Pizzazz's hair from a pack of "Colors of Kindness" pencil crayons. Pizzazz is the kindest character, clearly.

I still haven't posted anything for Femmeslash February - between projects and my current WIP, work and family visiting, the month just got away from me. So have this instead! A clip from my favourite childhood cartoon, Jem and the Holograms. 

For those born after 1990 (god have mercy), "Jem" was the story of two rival pop bands fighting for top-of-charts glory. The lead singer of the 'good' band had an father who was basically a good-guy version of Howard Stark, who left her with a record company, an orphanage, and an AI who helped her out with holograms and stage effects and such as necessary.

It often involved shenanigans like attempted murder and bombs dropped from hang-gliders. I love this show. 

Anyway, in what was arguably one of the show's best episodes, the two youngest members of the groups get fed up and form their own band, complete with heavy, heavy ho!yay. About as close as you can get to actual canon in a North American cartoon from 1984, I think.

Aaaahhhhhh IT'S DONE! Well, the chapter is. Unbreakable itself is going to be seven chapters long. Kimber is finally freed from her sling! This chapter is over 15,000 words long so get nice and comfy.

A quick recap of the plot for Unbreakable because it's been over a year since my last update. Kimber was hit by a car while she was crossing the street. Unbreakable is a story about her recovery from the accident and how having a support system helped her through it. It's primarily a Stimber fanfic, Stormer is Kimber's biggest support after all. This is part of a series but you can honestly just skip to this one. I just have a timeline all these Stimber fics take place on, that's all.

Last update for the year! 🥳 I’m glad I managed squeeze in a second update.

This chapter is relatively short at around 9,400 words.

Because this is slow going a quick summary of the fic, and some warnings.

Warnings for: A car accident, injury recovery, and discussions about surgery.

While taking a walk around the city one night Kimber was suddenly struck by a car and needed to be hospitalized. This fanfic follows the accident and recovery from it. It’s very heavy on the Stimber.

I got Colors Live for the Switch and wanted to test just how much detail I could put into a drawing. I’ve been wanting to draw (almost) middle-aged Kimber and Stormer at somebody’s wedding wearing really gorgeous dresses showing off their tattoos for quite a while now. And then I saw them, the perfect dresses. The timing was fantastic with me getting a shiny new art tool.

Seriously, I went from a resolution of 854x512 to 1920x1440. Nobody is even going to see that I shaded their opal rings with pink and blue. But I did! I could so I did! Man, now I won’t have to do small details in Paint and Kimber’s glasses can look nicer than they usually do. 

Anyway, Stormer can do subtle makeup, but that’s boring. Also she’s wearing a pink poinsettia in her hair.

Ten years just flew by.

A lot has changed, and a lot has also stayed the same.

One of the things that will never change is their love for each other. And fast food establishments.

Just a sugary sweet Stimber ficlet. It’s a part of my “Growing Closer” series but you don’t need to read all of that. This works just fine on its own.

Some little Stimber headcanons.

-Before becoming friends with Kimber Stormer assumed she was a vegetarian. Purely because Kimber seemed like a person who'd feel like animals are too cute to eat. Naturally Stormer was surprised when Kimber consumed a big greasy burger right in front of her. 

-Stormer is the better cook between the two. She's able to make somewhat complicated dishes. But not like, fancy restaurant quality. Kimber’s cooking ability can be summed up as, “Hey, I can feed myself. This is at least better for me than always eating out.”

-Kimber cannot bake. She prefers dishes where she can just toss things in willy-nilly and don’t require measuring. Stormer can bake, she originally learned because she’s dating somebody with a massive sweet tooth and ended up really enjoying it. It’s relaxing to just follow along with a recipe.

-When they live together Stormer and Kimber go on light evening jogs together. 

-And in the mornings they sit out on the deck drinking coffee and just taking in the morning air together. 

-Stormer was shocked to find out that Kimber is a morning person. 

-Kimber was shocked to find out that Stormer isn’t. 

-“You don’t like watching the sun rise and getting inspiration for your songs?” “No?????” 

-Although Kimber does have a habit of staying up far too late writing songs when she gets inspired or has a deadline she needs to meet and can’t think of anything. On those nights she falls asleep at the table. Stormer always sighs and carries Kimber to bed or the couch. 

-The biggest surprise for Stormer was how much Kimber keeps an eye out for bargains and likes cheaper foods. Kimber’s favourite chocolate costs a buck a box. (Her dad used to buy them for her.)

-The biggest surprise for Kimber was how little Stormer keeps an eye on prices.

-After moving in with Stormer Kimber finds herself missing her a lot when they’re separated.

-They both like dogs but can never get one because Stormer’s fairly allergic to them. So they get a cat!

-Kimber is the only reason Stormer has a couch. She was appalled when she found out that her girlfriend only had chairs. “How do you cuddle with your girlfriend?” “I’ve never been in love before! Why would I think of cuddling?” “Okay, but what about when it's late and you’re tired?” “I go to bed??? Like a normal person???”

-Stormer has a green thumb, Kimber has a black thumb. Kimber tries, bless her, but she just can’t keep track of which plants to water and when and ends up killing them as a result. Stormer eventually starts making charts for Kimber when she’s out of town.

-A lot of their early conversations after Kimber moved in were full of bafflement. 

-They do work things out obviously. Their routines aren't terribly out of synch and Stormer isn't reckless with her money so the lack of bargain hunting is a non-issue. Just weird.

-They both spoil their cat.

Another morning filled with heartache.

Unfortunately not extremely uncommon for this woman in her early twenties. Even though she had a good life, with a great girlfriend she still experienced heartache to the point where she'd go to the outskirts of the city. To what was left of a loving home.

I dunno man. This scene just popped into my head and I needed to write it. I was originally going to put it in Unbreakable as a flashback but decided against it. I think that works out for the better.

Just some outfit designs for 90's Kimber and Stormer. I wanted to come up with something they would wear to a TV interview in the 90′s.

In-universe Kimber's tattoo is part of "You're Always In My Heart" but I don't have the sheet music for it. So in-art it's the song that came with the Integrity Toys stage essentials accessory sets.

Let’s kick 2021 off with a redraw of one of my favourite scenes in The Bands Break Up! I just love Stormer’s expression as Jerrica’s shouting “Where are you going? Who’s in there?”

I don’t think I will ever get over that episode.

“And here you were, laughing at me for saying that a cat is my dream pet,” Stormer said with amusement.

“I love Monty, he’s adorable!” Kimber then cooed. “He looks like a gwumpy old man.”

“He is one.”

“No I mean a human old man. He looks just like my high school principal…”

Stormer stared at Monty. “I just see a cat.”

“Where is your imagination Mary?” Kimber placed Monty on the arm of a nearby chair and started to gesture at his face. “See, this is the bushy mustache, and here’s his shaggy eyebrows, and the look of both exhaustion and disinterest. This is totally my old principal!”

“Yeah I guess I can see it now…”

I recently posted a 9500 word Stimber fanfic and as soon as I wrote this scene I knew I have to make it into a comic.

I played Miitopia when it came out on the 3DS and I’m super excited for the Switch version. In the 3DS version I made my OTP at the time, and I decided to do the same this time too. I went with the designs I’ve been drawing Kimber and Stormer with lately. My mind has been taken over by my time skip universe. <_<;

I got a very fitting skill for Kimber.
