Day 17 of the Writers Guild Strike found me in Times Square at 8:00 AM in front of Paramount. I thought I recognized someone from my past, but didnât say anything. And, of course, 10 seconds later, he said, âBill? Hey, Bill Masters....â
Bill Masters was a guy I met in my first year of doing stand-up in New York, 1981. He had recently moved from Washington DC and was a regular at the Comic Strip. I worked a lot of gigs with him and a DC comic friend of his, Ron Zimmerman, who died last summer. He was always an affable, funny guy, and though I didnât realize it at the time, like me, really just wanted to be a writer. He worked a bit harder than I did on that in those days, and actually sold two screenplays and an early âSeinfeldâ script to Larry David. He moved out to LA with his wife, the longtime television executive/producer Gail Berman, and bounced around from half-hour to half-hour, which is what guys did. (By the way, Gail was one of the producers on the great Baz Luhrman âElvisâ film, so everybody can just kiss her ass....)
I had last seen Bill in Zoom last August, when he was one of the speakers at Ron Zimmermanâs memorial. But I hadnât seen him in person for 30 years easily. Another Bill, Bill Maher, used to say the greatest thing about not seeing someone you like for a long time is that when you do see them, you get the âBest Of....â Well, we walked in a circle together for three hours and got fully caught up, giving each other nothing but âBest Of....â stories.
Hereâs a beauty he told from the last Writerâs Strike, in 2007. Early on, there were big crowds at the picket lines in LA. It was a thing to do, and celebrities would show up all the time. One day, the then-unknown, but crazy handsome Gavin Newsom showed up with his then-unknown and pre-augmented wife Kimberly Gilfoyle.
A fellow striking writer asked Bill Masters, âWhoâs that guy over there?â And Bill said, âThatâs Gavin Newsom, Mayor of San Francisco.â
And the guy said, âOn what show?â

Is Devon Archer Tied to Kimberly Guilfoyle? The Marriage Rumors Explained
In the world of high-profile personalities, rumors spread faster than wildfire, and it's no surprise that Devon Archer and Kimberly Guilfoyle have found themselves at the center of such speculation. From casual conversations to social media debates, the question on everyoneâs mind seems to be, Is Devon Archer married to Kimberly Guilfoyle? Whatâs the real deal between these two? Letâs unravel the buzz and separate fact from fiction!
Who is Devon Archer?
Before diving into the rumors, itâs crucial to understand who Devon Archer is. A financier and businessman with a history thatâs as colorful as it is complex, Archer has made waves in the world of investment banking and political consulting. He's been involved in several high-stakes ventures, from his work with Rosemont Seneca Partners, a company he co-founded with Hunter Biden, to various investments in energy and real estate.
But who is he beyond the boardroom? Devon Archer is known for his sharp mind, ambitious pursuits, and a knack for finding himself in the midst of controversy. His life, both professional and personal, has always been a topic of interest, but recently, the spotlight has shifted to his connection with none other than Kimberly Guilfoyle.
Kimberly Guilfoyle: The Powerhouse
Kimberly Guilfoyle, a name that resonates with power, influence, and media prowess, is no stranger to public scrutiny. An attorney by training and a former Fox News personality, sheâs carved out a niche for herself in the world of political commentary. Guilfoyleâs charisma, sharp wit, and undeniable presence have made her a force to be reckoned with.
Sheâs not just known for her career, though. Kimberly Guilfoyleâs personal life has been equally intriguing. From her marriage to Gavin Newsom, the current Governor of California, to her relationship with Donald Trump Jr., sheâs always been in the public eye. But now, the question looming large is: Is Kimberly Guilfoyle married to Devon Archer?
The Rumor Mill: How It All Began
So, how did these marriage rumors start? As with many celebrity rumors, the origins are a mix of speculation, casual comments, and a dash of misinterpretation.
Public Appearances: Devon Archer and Kimberly Guilfoyle have been seen together at a few public events, sparking whispers and raising eyebrows. When two well-known figures are spotted in the same place, it doesnât take long for people to start drawing conclusions.
Social Media Frenzy: Social media can be a double-edged sword. A few innocent posts or comments can quickly spiral into full-blown speculation. Fans and followers often try to connect the dots, even when there might be no dots to connect.
Shared Circles: Both Archer and Guilfoyle move in elite circles that often intersect. They have mutual friends and professional acquaintances, which only adds fuel to the fire. But does that mean theyâre married?
Digging Deeper: Is There Any Truth to the Rumors?
Letâs get down to brass tacks. Is Devon Archer married to Kimberly Guilfoyle? While the rumors have certainly gained traction, thereâs no concrete evidence to support the claim.
Hereâs what we know:
No Official Statements: Neither Archer nor Guilfoyle has made any official statement confirming or denying the marriage rumors. In the age of instant news, silence can often be misinterpreted, but itâs important not to jump to conclusions.
Past Relationships: Both individuals have a history of high-profile relationships. Guilfoyleâs past marriages and relationships have always been public knowledge, while Archerâs personal life has been more private. However, thereâs no record of a marriage between the two.
Media Silence: Major news outlets have not reported on a marriage between Devon Archer and Kimberly Guilfoyle. In the world of celebrity news, a lack of coverage often indicates that thereâs no substantial story to tell.
So, while the idea of these two powerhouses tying the knot is certainly intriguing, the evidence just doesnât add up.
Why Are People So Interested?
You might be wondering, why is there so much interest in whether Devon Archer is married to Kimberly Guilfoyle? Well, itâs no secret that we live in an era where the personal lives of public figures are often considered public property. People are naturally curious about the relationships of those in the limelight, especially when those individuals are as influential as Archer and Guilfoyle.
Celebrity Culture: Weâre fascinated by the lives of the rich and famous. Their relationships, breakups, and marriages provide endless fodder for conversation and speculation.
Political Connections: Both Archer and Guilfoyle have ties to the political world. Archerâs association with Hunter Biden and Guilfoyleâs relationship with Donald Trump Jr. make them figures of interest in both political and social circles.
Power Couple Appeal: The idea of two powerful individuals coming together is always compelling. Itâs the kind of story that captures the imagination and keeps people talking.
The Impact of Rumors on Personal Lives
While itâs easy to get caught up in the excitement of celebrity rumors, itâs important to remember that these are real people with real lives. The constant speculation can have a profound impact on their personal and professional lives.
Privacy Invasion: For individuals like Devon Archer and Kimberly Guilfoyle, maintaining privacy can be a challenge. The more speculation there is, the harder it becomes to keep personal matters private.
Public Perception: Rumors can shape public perception in ways that may not reflect reality. If people start to believe that Devon Archer is married to Kimberly Guilfoyle without any evidence, it can lead to misunderstandings and unfounded judgments.
Stress and Pressure: Being in the public eye comes with its own set of pressures, and dealing with rumors can add to that stress. Itâs not easy to live under the constant scrutiny of the media and the public.
The Final Verdict: Whatâs the Real Story?
After all the speculation, the public sightings, and the social media chatter, we return to the central question: Is Devon Archer married to Kimberly Guilfoyle?
The answer, based on all available evidence, appears to be no. While they may have crossed paths in their respective careers and social circles, thereâs no proof that the two are married.
Conclusion: The Nature of Rumors
In a world where information travels at the speed of light, itâs easy for rumors to take on a life of their own. The idea that Devon Archer is married to Kimberly Guilfoyle is a perfect example of how a few pieces of information can be woven into a narrative that captures the publicâs imagination.
However, as weâve seen, the reality doesnât always match the rumors. Itâs a reminder to pproach such stories with a healthy dose of skepticism and not to believe everything you hearâunless, of course, youâve got the facts to back it up!
So the next time you come across a juicy piece of celebrity gossip, ask yourself: Is there any truth to this? Because, as this case shows, sometimes the real story is much simpler than the one we create in our minds.

Domestic Workersâ Organizing in California: An ASATA Update
by ASATA Member Preeti Gamzeh
Over two million homes across California depend on the essential care provided by more than 300,000 domestic workers in the state â yet they remain without health and safety protections in the workplace. Care workers who ensure our economies have a healthy workforce, are ironically and sadly, marginalized and invisible-ized by intentional exclusion from worker protection laws. These exclusions are a remnant of the United Statesâ legacy of slavery and discrimination against Black and brown immigrant women workers that continue on in California stateâs labor code today.
As a result, domestic workers are regularly exposed to health and safety threats. These include exposure to toxic products, heavy lifting leading to muscle tears, sprains, back injuries and other long-term chronic conditions such as asthma, chronic cough, vision impairment, impacts on the reproductive system, and more.
To address this historic inequality, the California Domestic Workers Coalition (CDWC) worked with the National Domestic Workers Alliance (NDWA) to create SB 686, a bill that created the first ever health and safety guidelines for the domestic work industry. This bill was put together by an Advisory Committee of domestic workers, employers, and occupational health and safety experts with Cal/OSHA.
To push for the signing of this bill into law, the CDWC and the NDWA organized a historic rally of over 600 domestic workers in Sacramento,on August 29th. ASATA member Preeti Shekar got to interview Kimberly Alvarenga, the Executive Director of the California Domestic Workers Coalition, to discuss why SB 686 is important and how domestic worker organizing is one of the most important and feminist movement in the country. This discussion aired on KPFA 94.1 FMâs Womenâs Magazine on Mon, Oct 9th.
Postscript: After this interview was recorded, Governor Newsom vetoed the bill, on October 2nd, on grounds that homes and businesses cannot be regulated by the same set of laws. The CDWC and the NDWA expressed their disappointment in this decision and are currently re-strategizing. While it is disappointing that this bill was outright vetoed, the organizing of domestic workers, who are largely from black and brown immigrant communities, is one of the brightest sparks of feminist movements in the United States, and is inspiring to organizing care work everywhere.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom said that his ex-wife Kimberly Guilfoyle was a "different person" when they were married and that she "fell prey" to the culture in a Fox News interview on CNN's "The Axe Files" podcast, released on Tuesday, about an ambitious lawyer who was "whip smart" and had "a prosecutorial mindset."
"She was a different person," Newsom, a Democrat, told CNN, explaining that working for a progressive district attorney brought her close to Kamala Harris; she knew her well, and she spent a lot of time in Democratic circles. Guilfoyle and Harris married in 2001 and were together when he was sworn in as mayor of San Francisco in 2004.
However, Guilfoyle filed for divorce in 2005, citing the strain of a bicoastal marriage after moving to New York City that same year to work in broadcast television, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
Guilfoyle started appearing on Fox News as a legal analyst in 2004. She became a full-time host on the network in 2006 after joining the weekend show "The Lineup," now featuring Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of former President Donald Trump. After leaving Fox News in June 2018, she worked as a campaign advisor to Trump.
Guilfoyle is now engaged to Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of former President Donald Trump, who left Fox News in June 2018 and worked as a campaign advisor to Trump's election as mayor.
"I think she fell deeply prey to the culture at Fox; she would perhaps suggest that she found the light."
She has since refashioned herself as a conservative influencer for female Trump supporters and has been vocal about her right-wing politics on CNN, saying that seeing Guilfoyle attend Republican conventions was not easy for him at first, saying: "Of course these things are hard; I'm human; we did not have children; we were different people back then."Â
When asked if he had been invited to Guilfoyle and Trump Jr.'s wedding, Newsom replied, "Well, I'm very busy and have four children."
