Here is my subjective list of Korean streetwear brands that you should know:

1.  99%IS @99percentis

Behind 99%IS stays Korean designer Bajowoo that graduated from Tokyo’s Dressmakers Fashion School and launched Korea’s first ever Punk Brand in FW 2012. Previously, in 2003 Bajowoo as a fanatic of punk and rock culture began attending ESMONDE Korea. After graduation he began designing merch and outfits for underground punk and rock bands in music scenes of Tokyo, Seoul, London, Paris and Bangkok, where he refined his taste for the visceral and subversive lifestyle. Bajowoo’s vision is unique in the way that he doesn’t accept ‘Just Punk’.Graphic color treatments and sharp cuts round out 99% IS’ sleek and futuristic interpretation of punk and street fashion.

The designer defines his brand with the explanation :“There is that whole 1 percent of culture that most people don’t care about, but to me and my friends, it is our 99 percent.” These friends include one of Korea’s biggest influencers and super star -  G-Dragon, and a dedicated following of artists, designers.

ADER error was one of the first Korean streetwear brands that gained large recognition worldwide.  Was established in 2014 by design collective and is bearing the motto ‘but near missed things,’ the unisex streetwear studio seeks to revisit and reimagine familiar, yet often passed-over, everyday garments in novel and unexpected ways. The brand’s range of progressive yet accessible basics include signature oversized t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, and turtlenecks. Athletic socks and caps, and experimentally tailored shirts, coats, and trousers round out the label’s offering of unorthodox staples.

NOHANT is famous for “LOVE CITY ” series of  t-shirts and pullovers (from sub-line: newkidz) which replaced vowels in the names of famous cities with Korean characters - and the “LOVELY/LONELY” graphic tees series (from main line) - the brand became increasingly popular both domestically and internationally. PERSONALIDADE:

Um cara que vive de conceitos: sejam eles sobre ele quem pensa ser, ou pela profissão demonizada pela grande maioria e que escolheu pra usar como a sua segunda-voz. Tem horas que ele acaba se perdendo no meio de tantas personas. Soa prepotente assim de primeira, mas – na maior parte do tempo – ele é boa gente. Gosta de pessoas, gosta de beber, gosta de falar. Mas é discreto. Tanto tempo vivendo em Aeon te faz ficar indiferente à tanta obscuridade. Toda a inquietação que sente escapam pelas telas e saem de dentro dele parece não cessar nunca.

HISTÓRIA:

Há muitas coisas que Aoora não traz à tona. Mas guardar segredos e viver à sombra da vontade de terceiros não é bem exclusividade de ninguém nesse pedaço de terra. Era mais sobre não querer lembrar sobre a escolha de seu pai, em específico, e no azar de ter se mudado pra ilha sem saber o que futuro guardava. E afinal, como alguém poderia adivinhar? O choque era certo. Tudo o que tinha aprendido na vida tinha vindo de seu velho, e a mãe, ainda que fosse figura secundária, sempre estava ali dando amor incondicional. Não dava pra aceitar que a vida tinha de ser miserável pros dois depois de terem dado tantos anos de suor e sacrifício pra’quele lugar de merda com o plano de aposentadoria que haviam oferecido. Precisavam de grana, e rápido. Começou ali. A Gakcheol era uma necessidade, não só pra ele não acabar enlouquecendo, mas pra que alguém finalmente pudesse agir e botar tudo pro chão. Foi-se os tempos que ele tinha de aguentar trabalho de trocados e de jornada dupla pra poder alcançar um nível melhor entre os outros membros. O ódio era em comum, a violência era o escape, mas a motivações se partiam. Nesse mesmo meio, ele conheceu as pessoas certas, ou ao menos, que seguiam o mesmo ofício ao qual ele sentia inclinação desde bem jovem, em meio à sketchbooks e letras de músicas. A primeira intervenção que fizeram sem o uso da força física foi espalhar sangue de porco na porta dos apoiadores do governo. 'Nojjah' era o nome que ele usava para assinar os stencils que produzia num espaço arranjado, com mais um outro grupo de amigos que mesmo ainda dependendo dos favores da gangue, preferiam também mostrar à voz através da arte. Esculturas estruturais, quadros, e principalmente, o grafite de rua. As acusações e as más línguas fizeram o primeiro lugar ser destruído por um “incêndio misterioso” com todos os seus trabalhos dentro por incentivar a propaganda maliciosa contra o grande Kim Dongpyeol. Foi nesse mesmo dia também que dezenas de cartazes com o rosto dele estampado em cima de um corpo nu de pernas abertas foi espalhado pelos arredores de Aeon. Depois de anos, a O2SY foi erguida do zero junto de seus amigos-irmãos de causa. Continua agindo em prol da Gaekcheol, e ativo, secretamente, através das redes sociais, usando condinomes e coordenando os próximos ataques. Nunca se sabe qual muro ou estátua célebre que vai receber a irreverência crítica ao sistema que vivem, mas com certeza, nunca vai passar vai despercebido aos olhos mais atentos.

I think I have a strange question! To be quite honest, I love all the men in your KRP ads, and in the header. Can you tell me who they all are? Can you also give me some wanted male FCs that might fit the aesthetic too? How could it be described... minimalistic? Airy? I don't know lol. Any man who'd look amazing on 35mm film, if that makes any more sense! You guys chose such beautiful photos to use in your ads!
