I cup his face in my hands,

His face rubs against mine,

Our world shattered in pieces,

But I know we'll one day be fine.

He's more than a cat,

He's my very best friend,

Fled all that we knew,

But soon it will end.

Horrors we've seen,

And so much derision,

But with him at my side,

Nothing clouds my vision.

Aching bones from sitting so long,

My wheelchair is my prison,

But my void meows at me,

And snuggles so close,

He seems content if not happy.

He isn't dumb,

He knows something's wrong,

We keep moving from place to place,

But he's been so strong.

I'm transgender,

So they hate me on principle,

But Onyx's love,

Has proven unconditional.

In the darkest of nights,

When hope seems so thin,

Onyx's purrs remind me,

Of the strength within.

We’ve faced the cold streets,

And the stares full of spite,

But together we stand,

In the face of the fight.

With wheels as my legs,

And Onyx as my guide,

We navigate shadows,

With courage and pride.

Though hate tried to break us,

And tear us apart,

We rise from the ashes,

With fire in our heart.

Each dawn brings new trials,

But also new dreams,

And with Onyx beside me,

Nothing’s as it seems.

For love is our armor,

And hope is our shield,

In a world full of battles,

We refuse to yield.

So here’s to the future,

To the life we’ll create,

Where love conquers all,

And there’s no room for hate.

With Onyx’s soft purrs,

And my spirit so strong,

We’ll find our own place,

Where we truly belong.

I was able to fundraise over $500 in less than an hour this morning from some amazing and incredible people 😭

I was able to extend my stay until Monday, and have been told from two different people that they would help me with a night, so that means that if needed I can be here until Wednesday.

My inspection for my apartment is tomorrow (9/6/24) at 9am, and then it takes 2+ business days to process everything and determine what my rental portion is, and what the program will pay.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel, and I want to thank everyone who has helped me, and been there for me these last few months as my life has completely unraveled. I'm going to be able to slowly rebuild again, and it's all thanks to you! Whether you donated, or lent me a kind word, and a shoulder to cry on, you were a part of keeping me alive and sane to see this to the end. We're almost there!

Unfortunately today is the checkout at my hotel

I wasn't able to come up with any more Mutual Aid

I'm going to be dropping Onyx off at the SPCA later today and heading back into Boston

My paperwork with my Housing Authority has finally processed and all that is left to do is have the inspection done for the apartment

So hopefully it will only be for a few days

That I'm back on the streets

And Onyx is back in the shelter

So for the rest of tonight

I'm going to snuggle the crap out of my void

Deadname: Bethany Lauren

Former chosen names: Blake and Andrew/Drew

Reason for final chosen name: Ancestry family tree found repetition for the name William Saville and I reclaimed it. I ended up finding out a friend of mine from EverQuest II was a cousin of mine because of this choice! Blake was the only part of my former name that I chose for myself, it's what I would have named a son if I could have biological children. Andrew was chosen to honor my daughter Andrea Marjorie Canon that I miscarried at 17 weeks in November 8, 2013 (her father Shawn Gero unalived himself in 2022), and for my step mother who always wanted a daughter named Andrea, so I named my daughter for her. When I lost her, I was devastated. I later chose Andrew, the masculine version of the name, for my daughter and for Cyndi. Newton was my ex Gareth's last name, and I have filed for a fault divorce because he's an incarcerated pedophile that I turned in as soon as I realized what he was. I hope he rots there!

I have survived so much trauma. I want to learn how to live rather than survive but life keeps throwing punches.

I moved to Massachusetts because that's what my ex fiancee and the friend we had staying with us wanted, I was outvoted. My long term goal is moving to the same state as my cousin, for now my home will be Massachusetts and I will make the best out of it. My ex fiancee had two cats when they entered a relationship with me, and they kept both of their cats which is how I went from talking about 4 cats to just the one, Onyx.

I am focusing on moving myself and Onyx into our apartment that we have lined up, just waiting on the housing authority to finalize their paperwork and schedule the inspection, everything that I can do for the apartment has been done and I cannot do anything further except wait. In the meantime, I am raising money towards paying for the hotel(s) so that I don't go back on the streets, and Onyx doesn't have to go back into the shelter.

Homeless shelters won't take me because I'm a "liability" with my seizures, and hospitals won't take me because I'm homeless, they don't care (and I guess don't "need to") about how the streets would lead to my death with my health issues, they aren't a homeless shelter, so they will escort me out with security, even when I am actively having seizures. I'm looking at you Massachusetts General Hospital !!!!!

I plan on running for city council in Cambridge, and helping bring about changes for others with disabilities, so that what happened to me doesn't happen to anyone else. There is no reason someone in a wheelchair should ever have to spend a SINGLE night, let alone 25 nights, on the streets because of their disabilities making them a liability.
