Siam Reap (Day 1)
It was Pchum Benh holiday in Cambodia for a week. Uncle Alex and myself decided to visit Siam Reap. We woke up really early to catch a bus from Phnom Penh. I was told the bus ride only takes 6 hours but it ended up 8 hours. Why? Because they kept stopping to drop off passengers. And there is no highway to get there. It's mostly passing by village roads that are uneven.
I slept through the bus journey as I wasn't entirely well. But Uncle Alex was enjoying the scenic of the life in Cambodia. Apparently it reminds him of his younger days when Malaysia was once like this. By the paddy fields with bulls, pigs walking wild in an open area and kids just playing outside the house.
As we reach Siam Reap, I starting to compare between the two towns; Siam Reap and Phnom Penh. I must say, Siam Reap is much cleaner and is filled with trees at most places. The people here are much friendlier and roads are better developed compared to Phnom Penh. But sadly, there's not much develop in Siam Reap. More like a cowboy town.
We stay by the pub street and walk around to find dinner.
I googled and found Khmer food and had a good review. Decided to give a try and I must say, it was so good!
And the best part was, it's cheap! Really cheap!
That's was mostly what day 1 in Siam Reap is about because half the day was spend on the bus!

19/12/2023 - Lunch
🇩🇰 Khmer Cuisine, Copenhagen
🍚🐄 Char Kroeung Beef (119 DKK, $23.30)
Beef stir fried with bell peppers, broccoli, carrots and snap peas. A good salty stir fry. Hits the spot.
🍜 Num Banh Chok Somior Kari Morn (119 DKK, $23.30)
Mild coconut curry soup. It's a soupy consistency rather than curry. It's comforting with a nice mild hit of spices. Would probably try making this one day!
🍵 Lapsang Souchong (60 DKK, $11.75)
Smokey black tea with a very smokey taste. Nice to have once in a while but maybe not all the time
Thank you to the uncle running the shop. Hope the shop is thriving. Would want to go back for dinner to try the eggplant one day.
