Ruben Dias x Black Reader - Volunteer
Summary - Ruben wants to celebrate Man City winning another PL title. However, Reader won't be able to join him.
Enjoy!
You thought that your life would change, dating someone like Ruben Dias. Although there were some drastic changes, mainly the sudden invasion of privacy from strangers claiming to know and judging everything about you. Other than that, your life was normal.
You were even able to keep your day job as a middle school teacher, at least up until the point that it became irrational for you to take as many days off as you did when traveling with Ruben to his many away games. Although your hours as a teacher were reduced by quitting your job, you never forgot where you came from and always went back to volunteering whenever they needed you. Like this weekend, for instance.
The summer holidays were closing in. Although most children were looking forward to it, others, less fortunate kids, dread the feeling of being trapped at home without anywhere to go for ten weeks. Especially children from troubled backgrounds where their parents were known alcoholics.
In this case, the school always used the last days of the term to cheer up the children with fun activities, sponsored by the local churches and volunteers like yourself signing up to help out.
"If we win the league, I'm taking you to Ibiza."
"If you win?" You giggled. Ruben came out of the bathroom, toothbrush in his mouth. He was so eager to start the last game of the season for Man City. Today was the day his team could make Premier league history by becoming the first team to secure four back to back titles.
"Yes, if we win. Nothing is for certain." He said, darting his toothbrush at you.
You shook your head. Ruben was just being daft. City would win their game today against West Ham, and they would win it easily.
A few hours later, as you watch the refeee blow the final whistle, Manchester City were champions once again.
"Baby, what did I say!" Ruben cheered. "Start packing your fucking bags."
It was hysterical. The scenes at the Ethiad stadium were very hysterical, with fans invading the pitch from all directions. You were a little afraid to step onto it yourself. However, Ruben would be very disappointed if you didn't. In the joyous state that he was in, he would've probably climbed the stands and carried you onto the pitch himself.
"Did I tell you how much I fucking love you?" Ruben pressed a wet kiss to your forhead before running off with his teammates, all of them celebrating like a pack of hooligans. It was all very hysterical and brilliant at the same time.
"I can't find my mommy."
Walking around the pitch, taking it all in, how happy and proud Ruben must be of himself and his teammates, you suddenly bumped into a child who seemed a bit dissoriented and anxious to be reunited with his parents.
"Have you lost your mother?" You asked, kneeling down to be at eye level with the boy.
"Yes, I think she went with daddy?"
"Alright, let's go find mommy and daddy then. Would you like that?"
The boy nodded and felt safe enough to accept your offer to hold his hand.
"Oh my God, Rome!"
It didn't take long for you to find out who the child belonged to. You had practically been looking for each other.
"Shit Y/N, you found him."
"He actually found me." You smiled and watched Kevin de Bruyne reunite with his son.
"I don't know how to thank you. Michele was so worried."
"All is well now."
"Yeah, thanks to you."
It was something, seeing a father's relief. Sometimes you wonder if Ruben would be like that, a caring father?
"Will we see you tonight?" Kevin asked, little Rome in his arms.
"Tonight?"
"Yes, for the celebration party?"
"Oh, that." It sounded fun, truly. But you had a long week ahead, starting tomorrow.
You had to get to the school early to help the other volunteers set everything up. You explained this to Kevin, who seemed to understand.
"To be honest, I'm not one for parties either. It's sounds like fun, volunteering."
"You should try it." You said. And with that, Kevin left to find his wife and their other children while you went to collect an ecstatic Ruben before he hurt himself.
"What do you mean you're not coming with me to the party?"
Unlike Kevin, Ruben didn't take the news as well. The two of you returned home, with Ruben noticing that you weren't getting ready to go out, like him.
"Well, I have to get up early tomorrow."
"So?"
"Ruben? "
"Come on baby, it's not everyday I win a championship?"
"Four in a row, Ruben. You've literally won four in a row." And you had been there to witness two of them.
He grinned. "Isn't it lovely?"
You rolled your eyes.
"Come on, baby." Ruben trailed your steps through the apartment. "What about Ibiza, we leave right after the City parade. Please tell me you're coming with me to that?"
"The parade, or Ibiza?"
"You're kidding me right?"
"Ruben." You sighed. "I've told you how important volunteering for the kids is to me."
"But won't there be other volunteers?"
"No, Ruben, they're gonna need all hands on deck, we're already very short staffed."
"Because the school is so run down. Why would anyone want to volunteer there?"
You paused, mouth wide open.
"What?"
"I can't believe you just said that."
"It's the truth."
"Ruben, that school has been there for all my life. I grew up going to that school." You felt yourself getting rallied up. How could Ruben be so stubborn about this when he knew how important your job was to you?
"Okay, look...." He whipped out his phone in one last attempt to win you over. "Just give me the number of the principal, and I'll make sure to forward a nice little donation to the school, of course in the return that you will come with me to Ibiza. There, problem solved."
"No, Ruben!" You groand. "The only problem I have right now is you not hearing me out."
"Come on baby, let's not fight. The car will be here in a minute."
"Ruben! Do you even hear yourself right now? I get wanting to celebrate with your teammates, but you're gonna have to accept the fact that I'm NOT coming with you!"
That seemed to do it.
That was the end of the shouting.
Disappointed, Ruben left for the party without you. And you went to bed with a headache that would last all week.
It was only around Wednesday that you no longer thought of your heated argument with Ruben. By then, the title celebrations in England were over, with Ruben hopping on a plane to take him and his friends straight to Ibiza.
Perhaps it was for the best that you spent sometime apart. You were too emerged in your volunteer work anyway.
"Miss Y/N, can you go on the waterslide with me? I'm scared."
"Scared?"
With the church donations, the school was able to set up a blow-up waterslide. All children seemed to enjoy it, although you admit that the construction looked very steep.
"Yes, I'm scared so will you ride it with me?"
"Erm....I don't know Nelson. I didn't bring any swimwear."
"Oh, okay." The boy muttered.
"I'll go with you on the slide."
The boy gasped, eyes wide as he perked up. "Kevin de Bruyne!"
You snapped your head back and were equally surprised. "Kevin? What are you...."
"Hey everyone, it's Kevin de Bruyne!" Nelson shouted, alerting a flock of children to head your way.
Kevin smiled. "Ruben forwarded the address and said you might need a hand."
"He did?"
Cheering children cane running towards you, and soon Kevin was ambushed by all of them.
Behind him was his wife, Michele, and their kids. "I guess my kids better hurry up and get on the slide now, while my husband distracts the others." She smiled.
"Um...help yourself." You stammered, not really sure how this came to be.
"Y/N?"
And as if things weren't strange enough, John Stones and Kyle Walker came walking through the school gates. They had also brought along their families. "Ruben promised there would be food." Kyle said.
"Um, there is." You pointed towards the table next to the grill.
"Great. Kids, run along. Daddy has to eat."
"I'm sorry about him." John smiled, giving you a hug. "It was all pretty last minute of Ruben to invite us. I didn't even know that the two of you were volunteers."
"Neither did I." You frowned. "You said Ruben invited you?"
"Yeah." John nodded. "I think he messaged everyone in the Man City group chat. The rest are probably on their way."
"The rest?" You looked to the gates, and indeed, some very nice cars were seen pulling up to the school parking lot. You recognized everyone of Ruben's teammates, including their family's. Even some of the City staff members were seen entering the school yard.
"I think we're gonna need more food." The principal, who appeared behind you, said. She looked more excited than anxious, peering her head to see who was next to walk through the gates. Your heart skipped at the sight of him, Ruben, carrying the child of his teammate Bernardo Silva.
"I know he is your sagnificant other..." The principal said as the two of you watched Ruben make his way over. "But I figured he'd be too busy with the celebrations of winning the league. I didn't want to come off as too forward by asking you to invite him. You know....for the children."
"Right."
"I'm glad you did it anyway."
"I actually...didn't." You turned around to see that the principal was gone. She had joined the children to watch Kevin de Bruyne go down the water slide.
"I think that's everyone?"
You turned around to find Ruben and Bernardo standing before you. They were looking around the crowded school yard, kids mixed with the newly crowned title winners. It was surreal, with everyone, even the volunteers looking to enjoy themselves.
"It's a good thing you got going here." Bernardo said, unhanding Ruben his child. "Make sure to invite us to the next one."
"Um...sure." You stammered, to which Ruben smiled. The two of you were left standing. Ruben towering over you like a tree. He stretched out his arms. "Suprise."
A smiled crept your face. You gave in, stepping forward to let him warp his giant arms around you.
"What about Ibiza?" You said, tilting your head.
Ruben looked down, eyes beaming brightly at you. "I was wrong, and you we right, I'm sorry."
You smiled. "Thank you."
He bent down, capturing your lips with his own. "You're there for my important stuff." He whispered. "It's only right that I should be there for your important stuff too."
"Oh, Ruben."
He kissed you again, assuring you that he was indeed in it for the long hall.

The Evolution of Roberto Martinez: A Journey Through Football Management
Roberto Martinez is one of football’s most intriguing managerial figures. His career, marked by tactical innovation, leadership, and a deep understanding of the game, has seen him rise from the lower tiers of English football to managing some of the most talented international teams in the world. In this piece, we explore the evolution of Roberto Martinez, tracing his journey through football management, and how his strategic mind has left an indelible mark on the sport.
Early Beginnings: Player to Manager
Before embarking on his managerial career, Roberto Martinez was a professional footballer. Born in Balaguer, Spain, in 1973, Martinez spent most of his playing career in the lower leagues of English football. His experience as a midfielder with clubs like Wigan Athletic, Swansea City, and Chester City gave him a deep understanding of the English football pyramid. This knowledge would later shape his managerial philosophy.
Martinez began his managerial career at Swansea City in 2007, a club that was then in League One, the third tier of English football. His impact was immediate. Martinez brought with him a continental style of play, emphasizing possession, ball control, and tactical discipline. Under his leadership, Swansea won promotion to the Championship, and he became known for revolutionizing the club’s playing style.
Wigan Athletic: The FA Cup Triumph
In 2009, Roberto Martinez took the managerial reins at Wigan Athletic, a club battling to survive in the English Premier League. His time at Wigan was a mixed bag of results in the league, but one of his greatest achievements came in 2013 when Wigan lifted the FA Cup, beating Manchester City in the final. This victory remains one of the most remarkable moments in the club's history.
Despite Wigan’s relegation from the Premier League in the same season, Martinez’s tactical acumen and ability to inspire his players stood out. His attacking philosophy, often a departure from the more defensive styles of lower-ranked teams, was both a strength and a weakness during his time at Wigan. However, this approach earned him recognition as a manager who could get the best out of his players while staying true to his footballing ideals.
The Everton Era: Tactical Growth and Challenges
Roberto Martinez’s next significant role was at Everton, where he was appointed manager in 2013. Everton had long been a club with a solid mid-table presence, and Martinez was tasked with taking the team to the next level. In his first season, he led the club to a fifth-place finish, securing Europa League qualification. Martinez’s attacking philosophy was embraced by the Everton faithful, as he got the best out of young talents like Romelu Lukaku, Ross Barkley, and John Stones.
However, as time progressed, Martinez’s tenure at Everton began to face challenges. While his tactical approach remained entertaining, his teams often struggled defensively, and inconsistency became a hallmark of his Everton side. After three seasons, he parted ways with the club in 2016. Despite the downturn in results, Martinez left a lasting legacy of tactical creativity and player development at Everton.
Belgium's Golden Generation: International Management
Roberto Martinez’s most defining role to date came in 2016 when he was appointed head coach of Belgium’s national team. Tasked with managing the country’s "Golden Generation," which included world-class talents like Eden Hazard, Kevin De Bruyne, and Romelu Lukaku, Martinez faced the challenge of turning individual brilliance into a cohesive, winning team.
Under his leadership, Belgium has consistently been ranked among the top teams in the world. The team reached the semifinals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, ultimately finishing in third place, their best performance in the tournament’s history. Martinez’s tactical nous, particularly his ability to shift between formations and exploit opposition weaknesses, was evident throughout the tournament.
At Belgium, Martinez has had the luxury of working with some of the world’s most gifted players, but his success has also been built on his ability to foster team unity and adaptability. His focus on attacking football, combined with a more pragmatic defensive approach, has allowed Belgium to remain one of the most feared teams in international football.
Martinez's Tactical Philosophy: Possession with Purpose
Throughout his career, Roberto Martinez has been synonymous with a particular style of play—possession-based football. His teams are built on the principle of controlling the game through intelligent ball movement, patient build-up, and exploiting spaces in the opposition’s defense. This tactical philosophy, while influenced by the Spanish football culture in which Martinez was raised, has been adapted to suit the different teams and environments he has managed.
At Swansea, it was revolutionary, helping the club punch above its weight. At Wigan, it enabled the team to win against the odds in the FA Cup. At Everton, it provided the foundation for some exciting attacking play. And with Belgium, it has allowed a collection of individually brilliant players to operate as a cohesive, dangerous unit on the international stage.
Martinez’s approach, however, has not been without its critics. Some argue that his commitment to attacking football can leave his teams vulnerable at the back, a point highlighted during his time at Everton and occasionally with Belgium. Nonetheless, Martinez’s tactical evolution has shown a willingness to adapt without losing sight of his core principles.
Conclusion: The Legacy of Roberto Martinez
Roberto Martinez journey through football management has been one of continuous growth, from his early days in English lower leagues to managing some of the world’s finest talents. His tactical philosophy, built on the foundation of possession-based football, has been the hallmark of his managerial career. Whether at club level with Wigan and Everton, or internationally with Belgium, Roberto Martinez has consistently demonstrated an ability to inspire his teams and innovate tactically.
As Martinez continues to evolve, his legacy as a manager is already firmly established. His journey reflects not only a deep understanding of the game but also a willingness to challenge conventional approaches to football management. For many, Roberto Martinez represents the future of football management, a coach who blends tactical intelligence with the passion and creativity needed to succeed at the highest level.
In the coming years, whether he continues to lead Belgium or embarks on a new challenge, Roberto Martinez’s influence on the game will remain a significant part of football’s ongoing evolution.

FC 25 Manchester City Rating Predictions
Champions again ole ole… After a treble-winning season in 22/23 it was always going to be hard to follow that up, but winning a 4th Premier League title in a row wasn’t a bad way to do so. It could have been another League and FA Cup double for City but Ten Haag’s Tricky Reds undid them in the final. Despite only winning the Premier League, we’re expecting plenty of upgrades for City, especially for the young stars!
Goalkeepers
Ederson (88>88) - A solid enough season for Ederson but no need for any change in terms of rating, but will there be a change of club? Links to the Saudi League have been around since the start of the summer, so don’t rule out Ortega taking the Number 1 spot next season.
Stefan Ortega Moreno (79>81) - Ortega may have only had a small part to play last season, but he was responsible for one of the biggest moments in the title race. His 1v1 save against Son in the dying moments kept City in the lead and secured a vital 3 points with just one game left. Deserves a +2 for that save alone.
Scott Carson (65>65) – This man has the best job in world football and long may it continue. He gets paid to be Erling Haaland’s best mate and he’s great at what he does, kept his 65 rating after 2 years of doing nothing on the pitch, so we’ve gone for the same again.
Defenders
Ruben Dias (89>89) - Ruben Dias has been in Manchester for 4 seasons and is yet to experience the feeling of losing a Premier League title race. We expect world-class performances from Ruben Dias but we need even more if he wants to hit that 90 OVR for FC 25.
John Stones (85>86) - If it wasn’t for his injury issues, John Stones would be up there with the best in the world, and on his day there isn’t anyone better. It’s just a question of how often those injury-free days are. He only featured in around half of City’s games last year but was incredible when he did so. +1 for The General and maybe a CDM alternate position too?
Joao Cancelo (86>86) - Will Cancelo still be in Manchester by the end of the transfer window? Who knows, but he’s back for now so gets included. He had a good season on loan with Barcelona but missed out on the title to Real Madrid, we’ve kept him at 86 but would not be shocked to see him back to an 85.
Kyle Walker (84>84) - Aside from a poor performance in the Euro 2024 final it was a decent season for Walker so we see no reason for change. Maybe a little downgrade in defending but across the board should stay fairly similar.
Manuel Akanji (82>83) - Akanji’s showdown card will go down in the FC 24 Hall of Fame and we’ll be expecting to see a lot of him again at the start of 25. A brilliant season from the Swiss international, we’ve played it safe with a +1, but an 84 certainly isn’t out of the question.
Josko Gvardiol (82>83) - Pep roulette can strike at any moment, but for now Gvardiol is safe. He locked down that left-back position towards the back end of the season and even started scoring screamers for fun. One more year like this and we’ll be expecting 85+ in 26, but for now, we’ve gone for a +1 at 83!
Nathan Ake (81>82) - Gvardiol made the LB his own last season but that meant Ake he’d play second fiddle and fill in where necessary across the back line. Was brilliant when he played so we’ve opted for a +1 here as well!
Midfielders
Kevin De Bruyne (91>91) - Kevin De Bruyne may have been injured for the first half of 23/24 but when he returned, he transformed Manchester City and helped them on their way to 4 in a row. The Belgian returned 18 Assists and 6 Goals in just 26 matches in all competitions. Manchester City only dropped 6 points in the matches KDB featured in this season, he is that guy.
Rodri (89>90) - There is an argument for Rodri to be the highest-rated player, not just in the Premier League, but in the game. He is the best player in the world and should win the Ballon d’Or, but we’re just not sure everyone sees it. 90 would be well deserved, but don’t be surprised if he edges into the 91 category…
Phil Foden (85>87) - If we were choosing ratings we’d have Foden at an 88 or 89 but we don’t think EA will be quite as generous. He was by far the best player in the Premier League last season and deserves a massive upgrade, but could range anywhere from 87 to 89.
Bernardo Silva (88>88) - It’s not summer without a Bernardo Silva to Barca transfer rumor, but we expect him to stay in Manchester for the upcoming season. An average season for his standards so we’re keeping him at 88.
Mateo Kovacic (82>82) - The Croatian’s first season at City was one to be proud of, finally winning the Premier League and adding that to his trophy cabinet. Played a huge role in the team, filling in across all midfield positions.
Matheus Nunes (79>79) - Nunes struggled a little bit in his first season at the Etihad, but when called upon he did impress. We’ve kept him at a 79 due to limited minutes but hopefully, he can improve on this in 2025!
Rico Lewis (73>78) - Rico Lewis will hopefully be running the City midfield for the next decade, and has been putting in a shift at both DM and Right Back. A fantastic season in 23/24 so we’ve gone for a huge +5 for Rico.
Attackers
Erling Haaland (91>91) - After a 52-goal debut season, it was always going to be hard for Erling Haaland to replicate that. He only scored a mere 38 goals in the 23/24 campaign, just about enough to keep him at a 91… The guy needs to grow up and score some proper goals to really earn a 92. Tap in merchant.
Jack Grealish (85>85) - It was a disappointing season for Grealish and he’d say so himself, missing out on the England squad and not featuring for City as much as he’d like. He still showed his quality when he did play so we’ll keep him at 85.
Savio (70>83) - One of the biggest upgrades for City goes to their new summer signing, Savio. The Brazilian was key to Girona’s success last season, guiding them to the Champions League for the first time in the club's history. We’re expecting a HUGE +13 for Savio in FC 25.
Jeremy Doku (77>81) - Due to how stacked the Manchester City attack is, we only saw glimpses of Jeremy Doku, but when we did it was unbelievable. He was the only player who decided to turn up in the FA Cup final and was their only outlet in that game. We’ve gone for a +4 for the Belgian.
Oscar Bobb (64>75) - Ole ole, ole ole, Oscar Bobb Bobb Bobb. Another HUGE upgrade for a Manchester City winger and this time for Norwegian Oscar Bobb. Again maybe we’ve been a tad ambitious here, but the quality is there to see with Bobb. It wouldn’t surprise me if he stole the RW spot from Bernardo Silva this season and solidified himself as a starter for Pep Guardiola.
Will it be 5 Premier League titles in a row for Manchester City? Let us know which team you want us to predict next!

Marcus Rashford sends clear message to Ten Hag about his preferred position
Marcus Rashford sends clear message to Ten Hag about his preferred position Marcus Rashford, the Manchester United forward, has openly admitted his preference for playing on the left wing instead of other positions in the attacking line. During a conversation with club legend Gary Neville on the latest episode of The Overlap, Rashford elaborated on why he favors the flank position over being in the number nine role. In the previous season, under Erik ten Hag's management, Rashford was used in various roles, and there were instances where he had to take up the central striker position for the team. The outcome of this tactical flexibility was Rashford's best goal-scoring season to date. Recently, he inked a new contract, extending his tenure at Old Trafford, and managed to score an impressive 30 goals for the Red Devils in all competitions. He told Neville, “ left-wing, although I feel like centre forward you have less distance to cover to score simple goals. Whereas when you are on the left wing, if you are late sometimes making the back post is a 20-30 yard sprint.” “If the striker pulls to the back and you’ve got to go across the front, then it’s another 15 yards. I prefer the left, I feel like on the left it’s easier to stay in the game. From even when I was younger I always wanted to stay in the game, that’s why I think I struggle playing centre-forward sometimes because I struggle with patience.” He added, “You might not touch the ball for twenty minutes and then your first touch might be an opportunity to score, you have to be mentally switched on and it’s almost like being a goalkeeper. You might not be involved in the game for god knows how long but when it’s time to make a save, they have to make it.” The 25-year-old individual explained that as he has grown older, he has developed a greater appreciation for being the lead performer in a team. When asked about the toughest opponent he has faced, Rashford mentioned Manchester City's Kyle Walker. The United academy graduate acknowledged that Walker's physicality and incredible speed make him nearly unbeatable, but the key to dealing with him is to catch him off-guard or exploit his positioning. Regarding the best player in the Premier League currently, Rashford acknowledged Erling Haaland's record-breaking season but believes Kevin de Bruyne has been the standout star for the past four or five years. Rashford revealed that his favorite captain at United was Wayne Rooney, and when asked about a legendary player he'd love to share the pitch with, he expressed his admiration for Paul Scholes. When asked about the best character he's encountered in a dressing room, Rashford pointed out Zlatan Ibrahimovic, noting that he remains true to himself no matter where he goes. Kroos: "The positive after this lockdown was that after four and a half weeks I saw my family again. That is a beautiful moment. Four and a half weeks is a long time for everyone, but to me that seems like a year. After such a tournament you start to sort out a few things. And I've come to the conclusion that this match, my 106th international match against England was also my last international match."

A clinical opener with City under pressure during the first leg set in motion a gripping draw at the Parc des Princes and there was little to choose between the sides in the return until De Bruyne took aim click here the edge of the box and sent the Etihad Stadium into raptures. I was tagged by @voidnataxha (thank you cutes 💓) to list my top 5 favourite players from my team and tag 5 others to share their favourites! (I’ll do both my teams cos I have nun better to do @12:30am)
Barca:
1. Lionel Messi - ofc he’ll be first. The goat of the game and tbvh the heart and soul of barca rn. Without him barca could fully well be a relegated team. Yes barca depends on messi (way too much) but he shows time and time again his skills and why he’s considered the best.
2. Marc Andre ter Stegen - our own wall. I see people criticize MAtS a lot but without him and his reflexes we’d have lost so many matches this season. He’s so dedicated to the team and imo he deserves to be a captain he has the stature and capabilities to lead the team.
3. Clement Lenglet - probably one of the only good signings Barca has made in recent years. Idk if signing him was a gamble the board made but damn did it pay off in the end. Clement has so much potential to become even better and I really just love watching him play. I also really love it when he scored because he never knows how to celebrate but you can see the clear joy on his face ughhh he makes me soff. 🥺
4. Ansu Fati - barca’s wonder kid. I don’t think anyone expected Ansu to have such a great start that he did with the first team this season and already broke a few records. He’s a joy to watch and I can’t wait to see what he will add to the team as he develops into the player he wants to be.
5. Nelson Semedo - another player who gets shittt from people but honestly he tries so hard and if he had better coaches to work with they’d have unlocked his full potential by now. Semedo is amazinggg and I wish he’d get to show of his skills more but I really hope barca keeps on to him for a little longer because we need him.
Man City:
1. Sergio ‘Kun’ Aguero - ofcccc he’s my favvv for City😍; one of the main reasons I started supporting in the first place. Kun is an extraordinary striker and I wish he wasn’t injury prone now so we’d get to see him play out seasons and scoring so many more goals. Straight up legend for the club and I really dunno who City will get to live up to the expectations and legacy he has.
2. Kevin De Bruyne - the ginger goat 🤩 kdb is one of the best mids to play the game and he still has so much to go. Watching him play is just thrilling and exciting I hope he stays with City for as long as he can because he really adds so much to the team. One day I hope he’d be able win the b’do because he’s a player that would fully well deserve it.
3. Aymeric Laporte - when I call him city’s defense I am so freaking serious. This season alone was a testament to how important he is to the team and how much he is needed in the defense. He’s such an amazing defender and may he never ever get injured again I cannot suffer twice 😭
4. Raheem Sterling - Raheem is a player who is so dedicated and thriving for excellence. From what I’ve seen of him you can tell that he’s just getting better and better. You can see how hard he tries because of his love for the sport I hope he succeeds in all his endeavors.
5. Phil Fode - baby shark 🥺 I’ve never seen someone more sky blue than phil (tho i’ve only been watching City for a bit more than a year now so full bias akjsjsj). From the bit of games he played this season he did soooo well I can’t wait to see how much more his skills will develop and hope that he becomes the great player that he has full potential to be.
I tag (if you wanna): @hadikathefangirl @rpizarro @riquipuigg @geripiqay @nathicoroo
#this was nice!#it also turned out much longer than i expected aksjsjs soz#tag game#i started this at 12:30 and finished @1:04 i.....

Answer all the football questions cause I wanna See you struggle :p
1. What’s your favourite team? FC Chelsea
2. What team do you hate the most? If I had to choose, I'd say FC Bayern Munich because it annoys me how often it's only about them and how little it's about other teams.
3. Who’s your favourite player, all categories? Christian Pulisic
4. Which league is your favourite? Premier League, extremely competitive and easy to get into.
5. What’s your favourite chant/song? The Icelandic chant really grew on me just like other people grew fond of the team.
6. What’s your NT? Is that also your favourite NT? I'm German, but it's far from being my favorite. Out of sympathy I'd say Belgium. Otherwise I find myself rooting for the underdogs.
7. Who’s your favourite player from your own country? When it comes to active players, Die Mannschaft isn't really likeable if you ask me. Instead, I remember liking Robert Huth a lot and him basically burying an opposing player beneath him.
8. Who’s your favourite European player? Luka Modrić
9. Who’s your favourite African player? Sadio Mané
10. Who’s your favourite Asian player? Son Hyeungmin. (Honestly other than him I only know Shinji Kagawa and Takumi Minamino.)
11. Who’s your favourite South/North/Central American player? Christian Pulisic, but if I had to say I really like Guillermo Ochoa. Yes, because he single handedly destroyed the pride of Germany.
12. What team did you support growing up? Do you still support them? National team Germany and football club MSV Duisburg. Both: Not supporting them anymore simply because I stopped caring for them?
13. What’s your favourite Premier League club? FC Chelsea
14. Favourite Bundesliga club? I'm slightly attached to Hildebrand from VfB Stuttgart (simply because I remember enjoying football back in 2005/2006 and they won the Bundesliga back then) but other than that, I guess BVB Dortmund? My dude, I barely care for the Bundesliga.
15. Favourite La Liga club? Right now it's still Real Madrid.
16. Favourite Ligue 1 club? OSC Lille because PSG sucks and I barely know any other teams?
17. Favourite Serie A club? Atalanta Bergamo
18. Favourite club outside the Big 5 Leagues? Ajax Amsterdam
19. Who’s your favourite goalkeeper? Gianluigi Buffon
20. Favourite defender? Virgil Van Dijk
21. Favourite midfielder? Kevin De Bruyne
22. Favourite attacker? Christian Pulisic
23. Favourite coach? Jürgen Klopp. Yes, it's mainstream but I just can't help it.
24. Which big tournament is your favourite? (WC, CL, Euros etc) Europa Ligue
25. What position would/do you play if you were/are a footballer? Centerback. Assuming I play with fellow women, my boyfriend (a.k.a. you) mentioned something about a 6, defensive midfielder.
26. Which stadium is your favourite? Visually I perfer blue colored stadiums so I don't care about which team it belongs to.
27. How many games have you seen live? If the whole "Ronaldinho and Friends"-event counts, I've been to two football matches.
28. Who’s the most famous player you’ve seen live? Ronaldinho and/or Dida.
29. Who’s the most famous player you’ve met? I remember meeting the MSV Duisburg players back when I was eight to ten years old and I only remember that. No names no faces, nothing else.
30. How many football shirts do you own? Currently I own three jerseys: Pulisic (Chelsea 2nd jersey 20/21), Willian (Chelsea 1st jersey 19/20) and a random Olympiakos jersey with no name.
31. Who’s your favourite captain? Luka Modrić
32. Who’s the best player in the world? Messi.
33. Who’s the best player ever? Pelé
34. FIFA/Football Manager? Neither nor. I don't like playing football games.
35. For how long have you been a football fan? I wouldn't consider myself a football fan but if I had to decide the moment I became invested in football was 2018 when the Croatian team (and their jersey) alongside the Belgium team grew on me.
36. Who was your first favourite player? Robert Huth
37. Are your other family members football fans as well? If so, what teams do they support? I actually don't know. I think my father is still interested in the Bundesliga, but supports no team im particular. And I remember my halfbrother being severely shocked whenyou told him Bremen would drop into the 2nd Bundesliga.
38. Why/how did you start liking football? You (little shithead) got me into Chelsea. And since you know a lot about soccer, you were able to explain a lot of things I wanted to know.
39. What local team of yours do you support? None.
40. Put together your dream XI. Buffon (GK) Marcelo, Van Dijk, Huth, James De Bruyne, Modric Ziyech Pulisic, Lewandowski, Messi

Lineup Lamentations - GW35+
Our Transfers, Captains, and Starting 11s for the week!
—
WALSH
TRANSFERS:
OUT: Kane and Calvert-Lewin
IN (for -4 points): Firmino and Benteke
Welp, Kane and Mou hooked me again - nothing new there.
DCL I still love and it is quite upsetting that I didn't own him this season when he was getting all his points and did own him for a strand of just straight blanks and nothingness since the restart. Oh well. I'm sure this is not the last of DCL in my team, and I will look forward to owning him next year. If anything, maybe this barren spell is a blessing in disguise as it may keep his price down a bit and prevent him from having much preseason buzz...
As shouted on the pod, it seems like its a nice time to reunite with old friends. Benteke picks himself, love him so much and maybe he bangs in the revenge game. Just a fun punt.
Bob has been pretty fucking bad for FPL but I love him and haven't owned him all season. I can stomach a few blanks from the lad, but at least I don't have Kane anymore. It's probably not a good sign for my rank that I'm using the tv guide as a significant factor in my decision making process but hey, whatever brooo. I am definitely worried a bit about him starting against Burnley but he did just rest against Villa so maybe he'll be good to go for the duration. Another old friend and someone who I get a lot of xJOY from watching - there is nothing that I've seen from him that leads me to believe he'll get in the points, and I don't think there is some hidden gem here for the run in by any stretch, but I like him so I'm getting him. Basically I figured it's more fun to have him than to start a third Wolves defender..again...and also seems cooler and more fun than any other defender so let's do it :)
GK:
de Gea (SOU)
DDG didn't have to do much so he got a clean. Great job by him and United. It's a good sign that when Ole makes his five subs he's bringing on Fredrick and other shithouses and kind of killing the game dead which doesn't make the last handful of minutes feel so nervy.
Soton are good, though, and I could see them scoring, but with the way United have looked they still feel like a good place to back for cleans. He's not making any saves really to speak of but 3 cleans in 5 from the restart is right about where I thought they'd be.
DEF:
Maguire (SOU)
I am going to roll with the slab over Saiss to keep my shares at 2 for United and 2 for Wolves cleans. Same kinda shit with DDG, he's been individually bad as per but the team is dominating and I see that continuing against Soton.
Dock & Boly (EVE)
Really, really, really, really, really good fixture for a clean.
It's always hard to imagine where an Everton goal could come from and this fixture is no exception. As long as they don't get caught on a counter ping long ball, which they shouldn't do with the extra CB, they should be ok. I expect them to be in cruise control for this game and fully dominate and control it. Whether or not they themselves score, fuck if I know or care, but clean sounds good.
MID:
Sterling, De Bruyne, and Foden (bha)
Besides Raz, no clue if the other two will play 30, 60, or 90 but either way I expect this game to be an absolute fucking.
Rolling with the three City friends till the end seems good, and they are good.
Harry Potter plays some insane stuff and if he rolls out something similar here as he did do against Livp it could get silly. An early goal and the weed hanging their heads could mean many more to follow. That's the hope, anyway.
Bruno (SOU)
Ya, ok bro. Shitting points at the moment. Cool.
Pulisic (shu)
This is suddenly back to being a rough attacking fixture, but with the way Puli has been going recently I'll always back him to return against anyone. Sheffu midfield seems like it could be problematic and they as a team should beginning to feel it in their legs. Chelsea still need to win every game and Sheffu are kinda done for the season so hopefully they are on it and Puli running at Basham et al is too much for them to handle.
FWD:
Benteke (avl)
Back to his old stomping ground with Villa absolutely needing 3 points in this one I could see some goals for us. Just a fun play for me and again gives me something extra to cheer for on Sunday when I wake up to watch the game :)
Firmino (BUR)
He did put them to the sword in the reverse fixture..not that I usually put any stock in such a thing, but hey, it did happen so just reporting the news.
Without Mee I could envision him being difficult for them to contain with his movement so maybe he is going to get in there with some points. It wouldn't stun me to see him on the bench for like Minamino or some shit but hopefully not. Also is nice to have one of Alon's favorites in there to boot. Go get em Bobby.
CAP:
Sterling (bha)
Raz never in doubt.
Didn't start last game...and Jesus has just started a few in a row...so there's a reasonable chance he's playing striker. Love the fixture here and the stars seem to have aligned for the cap shout.
He's been playing really well lately so it makes this a really easy decision for me.

ALON
TRANSFERS:
OUT: Alexander-Arnold and Calvert-Lewin
IN: Saiss and Vardy
Off with the hyphenated names they’re banished from my team for rest of season no hyphens fuck it.
Dropping Trent feels akin to dropping Kevin: I’ve probably made a big woopsies here and he’s gonna start 4/4 or 3/4 and haul because he’s the best but... maybe not? Maybe he gets rested/rotated for Burnley as we expect and maybe Liverpool don’t clean rest of season as I personally expect and then I’m doing ok?
Maybe... maybe...
I’m also just going partially with gut on Vardy vs. Bournemouth more then anything else. Form is some sort of mystical lover and every time she’s in our grasp she slips away and every time we think she’s gone forever she reappears... Hoping the form angel pegs Vardy’s butt-hole this weekend and he hauls.
GK:
Ederson (bha)
Was Eddy worth the funds out the gate? Probably not... But I also know my own weaknesses and I’d’ve probably somehow have talked myself into some shit-can like Foster on no cleans and alas here we are.
I’ll take the points and genuinely expect a clean in all four remaining matches from Citeh.
DEF:
Doherty & Saiss (EVE)
Sheesh this feels yuge. Double Wolves into Everton come on Wolves. Don’t have anything to say I’m just on my hands and knees praying for this clean man...
Maguire (SOU)
Tough one for me to read.
Part of me thinks that the chaotic style of Southampton’s attack will have The Oaf on toast but also part of me thinks ManU will just strangle them to death with their elite possession and passing breaking the press all the time and Soton will be huffing and puffing by 45′... Not sure how this goes but yeah I duno.
Go get’em big guy.
MID:
De Bruyne & Mahrez (bha)
It’s very realistic that neither of my City dudes start and that tilts me off so hard just thinking about watching City do The Seaweed 6-0 or something and not be a part of anything fuck meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee REEEEEEEEEEE!
Martial & Fernandes (SOU)
I still think that these two are the best two ManU guys to get. Tony looked great despite not scoring and what can we even say about the lad Bruno he can’t not run into points right now.
Pulisic (shu)
Gonna be tough to break down but also the possession and pressure should be relentless from Chelsea here.
Hopefully Pulisic taking 9000 touches in the box leads to some FPL points that tricky little fucker I love him.
FWD:
Vardy (bou)
Come on Vardz.
Not a thing I often say but come on you Vardz. Take the Cherries apart baby.
Jimenez (EVE)
Walsh talked me into this (keeping Jim) on the pod and it made a whole lotta sense to me.
Sometimes in life you just need to talk it out with someone you trust like your pod partner and then you can see more clearly and here we are. I actually feel great about a Wolves bounce-back against an Everton side with no midfielders.
Jim should be getting lots of chances and touches in the box and get the fuck in there. Overdue for a pen too maybe Keane or Mina does some mad shit? I haven’t given up on you yet Jim. Let’s go.
CAP:
Vardy (bou)
Whatever, right?
I mean I think capping either of my City guys is completely unreasonable this week (for the record I would cap Raz over anyone this week) so it’s between basically Bruno, or Vardy for me this week...
Why would I cap Bruno there? What’s to be gained? He’s owned by everyone and will be capped by everyone. It’s not fun and it’s not how I play the game.
I see weeks like this as an opportunity to both have more fun and to go for a maybe under the radar cap shout huge chunk rise if he hauls and Bruno is held relativlely in check... No pressure Jamie no pressure at all... Just... save me... Plz...

Is Jose Mourinho special no more?
It’s still a shock to so many people that Mauricio Pochettino was sacked as Tottenham Hotspur manager last November, particularly after finishing in the Champions League places four years in a row, developing home-grown talent like Harry Kane and getting to the Champions League final last season. His departure brought shock and dismay to many Tottenham fans, even though the club swiftly appointed serial winner Jose Mourinho as Pochettino’s replacement. Mourinho’s reign as Spurs’ manager so far hasn’t been smooth, having been knocked out of the FA Cup to Norwich, who are currently bottom of the Premier League, and have been knocked out of the Champions League by RB Leipzig. Tottenham are currently 8th in the league, 7 points behind fourth-placed Chelsea. Is the so-called ‘special one’ no longer special?
It has now been 12 years since Spurs last won a trophy, after winning the League Cup under Juande Ramos. When Pochettino was brought in as Tottenham manager back in the summer of 2014, becoming their 10th manager in 12 years, Tottenham had a very disjointed squad. The summer before, they spent over £100m on new players (Spurs did make a profit of over £6m that season thanks to the world-record sale of star player Gareth Bale to Real Madrid) and apart from Christian Eriksen, none of them had made the desired impact over the 2013-14 season. The Argentine manager was tasked with helping Spurs to Champions League football, which had been their for nearly 10 years and only achieved it once during that time. Pochettino earned plaudits for his previous job at Southampton, when he was controversially hired in January 2013, and produced great football as well as helping the homegrown talent there (namely Luke Shaw, Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Jay Rodriguez) earn their first caps for England. Although Pochettino didn’t win any trophies at Spurs, his tenure there will be remembered fondly by Spurs supporters and the way he took a disjointed Tottenham team from being a Europa League team to a Champions League team has seen Pochettino being linked with management roles at Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Manchester United.
You would’ve thought that if Tottenham wanted to start winning trophies again, surely there would be nobody better to help them do that than Jose Mourinho, who has won three Premier League titles in two spells at Chelsea and has won the Champions League twice. Even though his previous job at Manchester United brought a mixed verdict, he still managed to help them win the League Cup and Europa League in his first season. What was evident during his second spell at Chelsea, however, was his so-called ‘third season syndrome’. After he won Chelsea the league title, he become the first Chelsea manager during the Abramovich era to be awarded with a contract extension. Since then, Chelsea’s results have dipped badly, his media interviews had been questionable, including constant referee-blaming and a seven-minute rant after the home defeat against Southampton, and that infamous row with club doctor Eva Caneiro during the opening day draw against Swansea. What also came under scrutiny during that period was the style of football Chelsea were playing under Mourinho and his youth policy, having seen former young prospects Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku establish themselves as world class talents elsewhere in the Premier League. Even though Mourinho has enjoyed plenty of success elsewhere prior to his return to Chelsea, it seemed that when he signed that new contract with them in the summer of 2015 that this would be where he would really build a dynasty at a club, as he has never been manager at a club for more than three years. However, seeing his misjudgement when it comes to youth suggests that he is a manager for the short-term and not as a long-term option, unlike the manager he had idolised; Sir Alex Ferguson.
If Jose Mourinho had been appointed as Tottenham manager in the summer of 2014 rather than back in last November, there would be a wave of excitement amongst the Spurs faithful. Now considering how great a job that Mauricio Pochettino had done, despite not winning anything, the mood is still one of scepticism, particularly given Mourinho’s reluctance to give youth a chance in the team, something of which that Pochettino was lauded for, and the style of football that Mourinho’s teams tend to play. Prior to Mourinho’s appointment, there were problems at Tottenham, such as not selling Christian Eriksen last summer when he had just a year left on his contract and the Danish international didn’t want to extend his contract. That would’ve been an opportunity to remove anybody who didn’t really want to be part of the team and get a suitable replacement in. The decision to sell Kieran Trippier to Atlético Madrid without getting a replacement was also questionable, as Serge Aurier is very erratic at right-back and inconsistent to be a first-choice right-back for Spurs. Tottenham are also lacking strength in depth in attack, especially with back-up striker Fernando Llorente departing for Napoli last summer and with Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min out injured. With this now being the second season in succession that he’s suffered a serious injury, there are concerns that Harry Kane may be becoming injury prone, not just from a Spurs perspective, but from England’s point of view too. Spurs definitely should’ve eased the goalscoring burden on Harry Kane and Spurs should’ve bought a new striker in January.
We can debate about whether Jose Mourinho is still ‘the special one’ or not, but you can’t argue with his track record. Hypothetically, if Spurs won the league cup, would it be a greater achievement than reaching the final of the Champions League? Probably not, but it may be more important. Winning a trophy, any trophy, may just be the catalyst for this Spurs team to go on to achieve greater things. While it was exciting seeing this young Spurs team develop under Mauricio Pochettino, there was a fear of whether the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Eric Dier would one day leave Spurs for a more elite club who specialise in winning titles. With Mourinho at the helm, considering the track record he has in winning things, would that tempt these key players into staying at the club? Even if Mourinho didn’t play the attractive football that Pochettino played and if he doesn’t qualify for the Champions League this season? That’s a question that many will keep asking, but also think about this; could one trophy under Mourinho be a catalyst for greater things, or a consolation for his upcoming failures?
