TOP 10 TOURIST PLACES TO VISIT IN INDIA
India, renowned for the enormous number of tourist destinations spread over its vast territory, is a melting pot of cultures, natural beauty, adventurous activities, and stunning beaches.
If you are planning a trip to the country, you should not miss the following locations (well, at least not all of them). We have covered all of our favourites, from hill stations to beaches to cities, highlighting the culture and much more in order for you to enjoy the finest of India's tourism.
AGRA
Agra is one of the most visited cities in India due to its abundance of historical sites. The Taj Mahal, one of the world's most renowned structures, is, of course, at the top of this list of Agra attractions.
Along with the Agra Fort, Akbar's Tomb, and Fatehpur Sikri, this marble-clad structure is a stunning example of Mughal architecture. Also a terrific place to feast on delicious Mughlai cuisine.
GOA
With 51 beaches along its coastline, Goa is one of the most popular tourist destinations in India. Its white sand beaches, palm trees, low tax rate, wonderful coastal food, and laid-back demeanour make it a fantastic tourist destination in India.
Winter is the greatest season to visit this location because the weather is ideal (though this is when it can get expensive, too). In addition to the beach, the city's nightlife is not to be missed.
AMRITSAR
Amritsar, founded by Guru Ram Das in 1577, is regarded as the spiritual capital of Sikhism. The Golden Temple, the holiest gurudwara of the Sikh religion, is located in the heart of the old city. Locals refer to it as Harmandir Sahib Gurudwara.
The Akal Takhat and Mata temples are among well-known attractions in this city. Lassi and chicken tikka are two excellent dishes to sample in Amritsar.
SHIMLA
Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, is one of India's most renowned hill stations. With the Town Hall at its centre and a magnificent view of the Himalayas, this location attracts a large number of tourists.
Visit the Viceregal Lodge, Christ Church, and Gorton Castle to discover Shimla's true heritage. The snowy mountains and small lanes are worth watching and exploring throughout the winter months.
MUNNAR
Munnar, located in Kerala's Western Ghats, is one of the most tranquil and picturesque tourist destinations in India. The hill station features exceptional natural beauty in the form of rolling hills, picturesque valleys, virgin forests, waterfalls, streams, national parks, tea and spice plantations, and meandering pathways.
However, it is Munnar's unmistakable colonial beauty that attracts travellers time and time again. There are many churches, English colonial bungalows and cottages, and other structures in the hill station, which was a popular vacation destination for the British.
COORG
Coorg or Kodagu, which is surrounded by gorgeous mountain ranges and boasts a lush green terrain, is yet another clichéd holiday spot that lives up to the reputation. This hill station in the Indian state of Karnataka is a favourite weekend destination for nature enthusiasts and those in search of solitude. Coorg's allure is unparalleled, from its verdant hills and sparkling streams to its quaint villages and expansive coffee and spice farms.
Since Coorg enjoys beautiful weather throughout the year, it is a popular destination for Bangalore residents seeking to escape the chaos of the city.
OOTY
Udhagamandalam, usually referred to as Ooty, is a hill station in Tamil Nadu. The mild climate, the view of India's Western Ghats, and the tranquil environment make this a wonderful vacation spot for families and friends.
It is renowned for its tea plantations, lush gardens, bungalows from the British era, and spicy cuisine. During the summer holidays, when many families spend a week or two here, the area is typically congested. Once a little town, Ooty is now a bustling tourist destination with year-round activity.
MANALI
Manali, located in the Kullu Valley of Himachal Pradesh, attracts visitors with its natural beauty and serenity. The hill station is popular by tourists from across the nation, particularly during the summer months when cities swelter in the searing heat.
The hill station's beauty is enhanced by snow-capped mountains, dense forests, riverine valleys, and beautiful streams, making it one of the most popular holiday destinations in India. Manali also features a magnificent blend of rich cultural past and modernization, which is another of its many endearing characteristics. In addition to enjoying the tranquilly and natural beauty of the area, you can indulge in exhilarating adventure activities.

The Indian state of Kerala has the town of Munnar in the Western Ghats mountain range. A hill station that served as a former retreat for the aristocracy of the British Raj. It is surrounded by undulating hills that are peppered with tea plantations that date back to the late 19th century. Lakkam Waterfalls, trekking routes. And the 2,695m-tall Anamudi Peak can all be found in Eravikulam National Park. Which is also the home of the critically endangered Nilgiri tahr.
The endless stretch of tea plantations and undulating hills in Munnar make it appear like a postcard. Many tourists adore Munnar, a fantastic vacation spot in Kerala. It is the most well-liked hill station, and honeymooners, families, and lovers of nature all favor it.
Munnar, which lies in Kerala's Idukki District, is responsible for producing some of the best tea and spices in India. All types of tourists can enjoy a variety of experiences at this must-see location. Getting here might be a wonderful experience as well.
Visit the Eravikulam National Park in Munnar to see the abundant wildlife there as well as the Nilgiri Tahr. Additionally, there is the family-friendly Wonder Valley Adventure and Amusement Park. Learn more about the top hotels, must-do activities, and popular tourist destinations.
Munnar also known as "Kashmir of south India".
Munro established the North Travancore Land Planting & Agricultural Society in 1878. Growing a variety of products, including cardamom, coffee, cinchona, and sisal.
It's interesting to note that A.H. Sharp planted the first tea plant here in 1880. James Finley & Company entered the tea-growing industry after a 12- to 13-year hiatus and acquired about 33 independent tea farms. Kannan Devan Hills Produce Company founded in 1897 oversee the regions with tea plantations.
Later, in 1964, James Finley & Company and the Tata group worked together. The partnership persisted until 1983, when the Tata Group bought out the Finley Company's whole stock and stakeholding. Following Munnar's tourism industry took off, drawing visitors from all over the world. The only change since then is an expansion of the tourism industry.

When is the Best Time to Book Cheap Flights to India?
Booking cheap flights to India requires more than just finding the lowest price; it’s about understanding the best times to book in order to save money while also considering the weather, festivals, and travel trends. India is a vast country with diverse climates, varying tourism seasons, and multiple festivals that can influence flight prices. In this blog, we'll dive into the best months and seasons to book cheap flights to India, helping you plan your trip without breaking the bank.
1. Low Season (April to September): The Sweet Spot for Savings
The low season in India runs from April to September, mainly due to the extreme heat during the summer months and the monsoon season that spans from June to September. While the weather may not be ideal for outdoor exploration in many parts of India, this period offers the best deals on flights.
Why It's the Best Time for Cheap Flights:
Lower Demand: Due to the hot weather and heavy rainfall in some regions, fewer tourists visit India during these months. Airlines reduce ticket prices to attract passengers, leading to discounted fares.
Discounted Accommodation: The low season also means lower hotel rates, which further reduces the overall cost of your trip.
Less Crowding: With fewer tourists, you can enjoy the popular tourist attractions in peace, without the crowds of the peak season.
Best Time to Book:
If you plan to travel during the low season, booking your flights around 3 to 4 months in advance will give you access to the best deals. This gives airlines time to release promotions, while still allowing you to secure lower fares before prices go up.
Weather Considerations:
Northern India: Expect extremely high temperatures, especially in cities like Delhi, Rajasthan, and Agra, where it can reach over 40°C (104°F).
Southern India: The coastal areas like Kerala and Goa are more manageable in terms of weather, but you should be prepared for monsoon rains.
If you can handle the heat or rain, you’ll find cheaper flights and a more relaxed experience during this time.
2. Shoulder Season (October to November and February to March): Balancing Affordability and Comfort
The shoulder seasons—October to November and February to March—are excellent times to find affordable flights to India, as the weather is more comfortable, and the tourism demand is lower than during peak season.
Why It's a Great Time for Cheap Flights:
Fewer Tourists: After the monsoon and before the peak holiday season, fewer tourists visit India. This gives airlines the chance to offer deals to attract visitors, especially in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore.
Mild Weather: The weather is more pleasant during the shoulder season. Northern India starts to cool down from the intense summer heat, and southern regions have a more balanced climate without the monsoon rains.
Best Time to Book:
Booking your flight 3 months in advance is ideal to secure a bargain during this season. With fewer people traveling, flight prices tend to be lower, and you have the flexibility to find better deals.
Weather Considerations:
Northern India: The weather in the north becomes more pleasant in October, with cooler temperatures that make sightseeing more enjoyable.
Southern India: By February and March, the weather in the south is warm but manageable, making it a great time to explore Kerala, Goa, and Tamil Nadu.
3. High Season (December to March): Avoid the Crowds, but Plan Ahead
The high season in India occurs from December to March, as the weather is perfect for travel. It’s cool and pleasant in most parts of the country, making it the most popular time to visit. However, due to the high demand, flight prices tend to be higher during this period.
Why It’s Expensive:
High Demand: The cool weather attracts tourists from around the world, which leads to increased flight and hotel prices. Airlines capitalize on this demand by raising prices for flights to India.
Festivals and Holidays: Major Indian festivals like Diwali (October or November), Holi (March), and international holidays like Christmas and New Year's make this period even more expensive.
Best Time to Book:
To get cheaper flights during the high season, book at least 4 to 6 months in advance. The earlier you book, the better chance you’ll have of securing reasonable fares before the prices skyrocket.
Weather Considerations:
Northern India: The weather is perfect for sightseeing, with cooler temperatures and clear skies.
Southern India: You’ll find temperatures more manageable for visiting coastal cities and exploring lush landscapes.
If you must travel during this period, early booking is key to finding affordable options.
4. Timing Your Booking Around Festivals: Special Deals for Diwali, Holi, and More
Festivals play a significant role in India’s travel calendar. During major celebrations such as Diwali (October-November) and Holi (March), travel demand soars, driving up flight prices. However, airlines often run sales in advance to coincide with these festivals, offering discounts for those who plan ahead.
Why Airlines Offer Deals During Festivals:
Diwali: The festival of lights is one of India’s most significant holidays, and airlines offer special Diwali discounts to encourage travel.
Holi: The festival of colors is another time when airlines release deals for travelers planning to experience the cultural celebration in India.
Best Time to Book:
For festivals, it’s important to book flights as early as possible to take advantage of promotional fares. Look for sales a few months before Diwali or Holi, as airlines usually release tickets with special discounts ahead of these celebrations.
5. Using Tools to Track Price Trends
To ensure you’re booking flights to India at the best price, take advantage of flight comparison tools and alerts. Websites like SurFFares, Skyscanner, and Google Flights allow you to track pricing trends and find the cheapest tickets based on your desired travel dates.
How to Leverage This:
Set Price Alerts: Set fare alerts for your desired route to India, so you’ll be notified when ticket prices drop. This will help you book at the most affordable time.
Use Fare Calendars: Many flight search engines offer fare calendars that show price fluctuations for your travel dates. Use these tools to spot trends and determine the best time to buy.
Conclusion:
The best time to book cheap flights to India depends on a variety of factors, including the season, festivals, and weather. For the most affordable tickets, aim to book during the low season (April to September) or shoulder season (October to November and February to March), when demand is lower and prices are more favorable. Avoid traveling during peak holiday times like Christmas and New Year’s unless you book well in advance. By planning your trip around these insights and using fare alerts, you can save money on your flights to India while enjoying a smooth and memorable journey.
