Masters' Academy AU: Magic Types

One of the million bit of lore I'll eventually need to explain is that magic users are divided by the energy source they draw upon...

Different energies are better at different things, but with time and effort they can be put to any task. For example someone born with an affinity for fire magic could throw a fireball better than any of our trio, but that doesn't mean the boys couldn't do it too.

There are also some passive effects holding the energies within you; like a proto-spell it's something a magic user does automatically and unconsciously to digest the energy they naturally draw in but aren't doing anything with.

The effects are the kind of thing you'd expect; to use the example of the fire mage again, they'd not really notice hot or cold weather. Norman can see the dead, Dipper has near perfect recall, and Danny has heightened empathy.

Kenny’s relationship with death is so interesting, but something that sticks out to me the most and makes me rather sick to my stomach is thinking about how many times Kenny has ended his own life. He pulls the trigger so easily after revealing his secret in “Coon vs Coon and Friends” in order for his friends to believe him, even after he tells Kyle how painful it is to die again and again. You could say he was trying to prove his point, but he does it again at the end of the episode when he is sighted by his friends who are happy to accept Bradley’s powers but won’t believe Kenny (and he has no way to prove it). He pulls the trigger so easily, and it makes me think it’s not the first time he’s attempted it. Maybe when he was first discovering his powers, when it happened one too many times. Maybe after a particularly painful death when he thought this it is, this has to be the time it’s permanent, but when he came back he wanted to scream and he wished it was permanent. He might have tried taking matters into his own hands, see if it was different when he was the one who was responsible. But then he woke up in the same bed, in the same clothes and he felt like crying, because it’s never going to go away. Not even by his own hands.

This is some old vent art I drew the lineart for back in (I think-) December, but never rlly finished until today <3 ^_^

(Me rambling a bit utc, mainly abt why I drew this :P)

On the day I drew the lineart for this; I felt pretty misunderstood by some of my family members who I had sorta grown apart from, but still rlly liked, so I started doodling this as a way to vent as soon as I got home that day. I felt sad, lonely and misunderstood, and like an idiot for trying to grow closer to them again after I was intentionally distant for so long (for self-esteem related reasons), which is how Doom feels alot of the time (well. partly- mainly the first parts), so I used him for this to represent myself/how I felt ! <3

They're one of my synpaths & copinglinks for reasons similar to this, and it's also why I like him so so much :3 I think we would understand eachother in some ways, which is partly why they've grown pretty special to me after I first found out more abt their personality
