he calls you bro more than actual pet names tbh. generally, he doesn't use a lot of pet names because he'd rather call you by your name, but when he's being extra sweet or when he's tired, he'll use them. you love how cute he is when he's about to fall asleep, he starts going on and on about how much he loves his pretty girl. Why Toyota’s GR-86 is a Legend in the Making

In 2009, when Toyota brought the FT-86 Concept to the masses, it was a bit underwhelming. Originally thought to be a new V6 hybrid Electric All-Wheel Drive platform, as hinted by the FT-HS, the naturally aspirated low power front mounted boxer engine and rear wheel drive layout disappointed many, but sent a spark throughout the touge when it was announced that it would be a continuation of the legendary AE-86.

If you have spent any amount of time in the U.S. Import car scene, you’re no stranger to the AE-86. On paper, it’s nothing special, but Toyota’s focus on balance catapulted this car to the forefront of an automotive revolution and saw mass success on trace tracks across the world for over 30 years. Then they quit. It wasn’t until 2013 that we would get the ZN6 (Toyota) and ZC6 (Subaru) chassis to reignite the revolution of the late 80’s. The success of which brought us to the car we are talking about today, the ZN8 (Toyota) and ZD8 (Subaru) GR-86. The 2022 model year GR-86 (BR-Z) changed the game during a time where the game absolutely needed changing. With an MSRP of under $30,000 usd, the GR-86 (BR-Z) was arguably one of the best looking new sports cars on the market and was relatively immune to mass mark-ups we were seeing across the country. With Ken Gushi and Jhonnattan Castro pushing the limits of the chassis on track, they sold like hotcakes to a crowd of young enthusiasts. However, Toyota missed the mark in a few places to solidify the GR-86’s (BR-Z) legend status, but a lot of aftermarket companies stepped in to filled the gap. So here are the Top 8 Performance Modifications for the GR-86 (BR-Z).

#1. HKS GT2 Supercharger Pro Kit

So with the GR-86 (BR-Z), the elephant in the room is actually not in the room at all, and that elephant is power. The 2.4 liter FA24D boxer in the GR-86 (BR-Z) makes an astounding 228 horsepower and 184 foot-pounds of torque, which is an approximate 10% increase over the previous model, but not nearly enough to keep up with its domestic counterparts. HKS, as usual, has a answer for Toyota’s power shortcomings and the answer is the HKS GT2 Supercharger Pro Kit. Unlike most aftermarket forced induction kits, HKS has designed the GT2 to utilize the factory air box keeping the intake air temps low and the noise even lower while producing nearly 300whp.

#2. GruppeM Ram Air System

If the drawbacks of forced induction are not something that interest you, one of the best ways to make power out of the factory GR-86 (BR-Z) FA24D is via the GruppeM Ram Air Intake System. Made of 100% hand laid carbon fiber, this intake wicks away heat faster than the factory intake and utilizes a GruppeM specific ram air system to bring in ambient air from the factory grille. With simple bolt-on installation, this is one of the best ways to increase power across the rev range.

#3. Cusco Rear Differential Cover

Typically when we hear of upgraded covers, we don’t necessarily associate it with performance as it simply covers the parts doing real work. This is not the case with the Cusco Differential Cover. The factory differential of the GR-86 (BR-Z) has been shown to stand up to a good amount of abuse in stock form, however if you intend to increase the power output of your GR-86(BR-Z), it is imperative that you increase the driveling cooling capability as well. With provisions for external fluid coolers, the Cusco Differential Cover adds an additional 500cc (.5 liters) of fluid capacity, features revised cooling fin design, and is made of billet aluminum, making it an upgrade over factory in every way. Whether you’re drifting or tearing up the road course, the benefits of the Cusco Differential Cover are well worth the cost.

#4. REMARK Titanium R1-Spec Catback

Let’s be real, the dual tips on the GR-86 (BR-Z) are primarily for aesthetics. While REMARK offers their Elite Spec Cat-back, Sports Touring Cat-back, and Sport Cat-back for those that wish the maintain the factory twin exhaust, they stuck to their guns and went full race car with the Titanium R1-Spec Cat-back Exhaust for the GR-86 (BR-Z). Featuring a full 2.5” run, the titanium system is designed to optimize the scavenging effects of factory and advance aftermarket headers before offering a straight shot out the rear through their 4.5 inch slant cut burnt titanium tip. While the REMARK Titanium R1-Spec Cat-back is one of the loudest exhausts on the market for the Subaru and Toyota platforms, it does so while maintaining a full bodied tone. The REMARK Titanium R1-Spec Cat-back is also the ultimate exhaust if you’re looking to see some flames from the back of your GR-86 (BR-Z).

#5. A’PEXi N1 Evolution Damper Coilovers

Toyota did a really good job of keeping body roll and the dynamic factory dampening toeing the line between daily driver and race car. However, this came at a price, a price which keeps it from reaching the esteemed JDM Legend Status. However, after mapping countless laps and road miles with the likes of Maaya Orido and Hana Burton, A’PEXi released a coilover that is completely incomparable to others on the market. A far cry from the more common N1 Type ExV, the N1 EVO was designed to be dependable, rebuildable, and without compromise. That being said, each set is custom, made to order, specifically to the demands and driving discipline of the customer, but the most basic features are a true 25-way dampening adjustment, huge lightweight monotube with a 46mm diameter piston, adjustable lower body to keep pre-load consistent, and a 65mm ID spring. Constructed in Japan, but rebuildable in Orange County, California, there’s no better coilover on the market for the GR-86.

#6. Project Mu M1 Front and Rear Brake Pads

Big brake kits are often the standardized go-to for brake upgrades, but with the GR-86, it’s hardly necessary. The ultimate upgrade for a street driven GR-86 (BR-Z) is actually one of the most affordable. The Project Mu B Force Compound is the result of over 40 years of braking compound development that gives all the benefit of a competent race pad, without the harsh counter effects on the rotors. While heat and brake fade will always be synonymous with one another, Project Mu B Force Compound brake pads are shown to outlast and outperform the factory pads utilizing the factory fluid. However, if you truly want to do hotlap after hotlap and drive you GR-86 (BR-Z) home, Project Mu has designed their G-Four 335 brake fluid to stand up to the abuse. If you’re looking for something just as good, but more readily available, I also recommend Motul DOT 5.1 brake fluid.

#7. ADRO USA Widebody Kit w/ Diffuser

While the GR-86 (BR-Z) is one of the best looking cars to come out of Toyota since the 90’s , they kept it relatively mild. While the TOM’S body kit took everyone by storm at SEMA 2023, there was another GR-86 that was all but subtle. ADRO’s GR-86 Widebody kit is one of the highest quality, most complete kits on the market. In true ADRO fashion, this body kit didn’t redesign the wheel, they broadened and perfected it. Improving on the factory curves and induction scoops, ADRO’s design is the cherry on top of a design that is truly timeless. All in hand, the GR-86 (BR-Z) is a legend in the making, but it wont get there without your vision and the highest quality parts. Whether you want to drift Ebisu or grip Fuji, the key to solidifying legend status with the GR-86 is quality parts, quality style, and top tier performance.

Sano "Mikey" Manjiro

He's the type to get clingy anytime, anywhere, and any moment he has with you. With or without the other toman members. He's a private guy, but he would show you off occasionally for people to know you're his. 

As soon as he sees you, he's all sappy and cute. Mikey is a touchy guy. Resting his hands on your back, thighs, or anywhere as long as he can know you're here and alive. My boy had a past of people leaving him, one way or another, and he doesn't want that to happen with your relationship. 

This boy will do anything for you, even go on rides at 2 AM for ice cream. Midnight strolls were your thing, going to the nearest local convenience store to hoard junk food and dorayaki or just sitting at the shore, talking about anything and everything. 

You can't watch a Netflix series without him, tested and proven he will throw a tantrum like a child. You did it once, and it took you 20 packets of Dorayaki to appease his ass. Up to this day, he still holds that grudge against you.

However, he can't genuinely get angry at you. He tried, but you're too cute for your own good, so he ends up forgiving you as fast as lightning. When you made him upset, this boy still shared half of his dorayaki with you. All of it if you want them that badly. No grudges or Netflix series will stop him from showering you with the love you deserve. 

We saw how protective Mikey is with toman, and that includes his s/o. He's protective of you, and when I say protective, Mikey will walk through hell and back so he can get his revenge on people who hurt you. Man is downright evil when he has to, especially when it involves you. 

Did I say that you're his honeybunch sugarplum? Yes, you are his honeybunch sugarplum. He will sing that song to you 24/7. In the shower, when you're on your midnight strolls, and when you're about to sleep. He says it's his way of reminding that you will be, and as always, be his honeybunch sugarplum. 

Ryuguji "Draken" Ken

Probably the one who complains a lot but will eventually do anything that you want. Do you want some ramen? Get it yourself. Then, you will see him at your front door, holding a bag with ten varieties of instant ramen. You're cold, and you want his jacket? Blame yourself for being careless, but he will give them to you nonetheless. He's just shy about saying romantic things. 

He's a straightforward guy, and he isn't afraid to call you out when you're doing something that will hurt you in the process. If his s/o is too chaotic, he will be the one to balance their energy. He will probably look out for you in the sweetest way possible. 

He has a note of the things you like and dislike. It's written on a small piece of paper, hidden under his pillow. He would read them whenever he has a chance and when the time comes that you're in a bad mood, he immediately know how to make you happy. 

Unlike Mikey, he's not a showy person. He will initiate skinship when it's only the two of you, and he's all mushy gushy in your arms during cuddle times. He believes everyone doesn't need to know the intimacy between the two of you. 

He's still proud of you and occasionally shows you off.  When you achieve something that you worked hard for, expect him to tell people how amazing his s/o. 

Protective of you, but not as protective as Mikey. He will teach you basic self-defense because he wants you to know how to fight when he's not around. If hurt, he's up and above treating your wounds while grounding you with questions. Once you're safe and sound, he will search every nook and crevices of Japan to beat people who hurt you. 

He's not good with expressing his feelings through words and will usually compensate them with actions. But, he will whisper sweet nothings to you whenever you're about to sleep in his arms or already asleep. He wants you to sleep knowing how much he appreciates you as his s/o. 

Baji Keisuke

You don't have to do anything because this boy is already head-over-heels for you. Whatever you're up to, he's happy to be around you. He's the kind of boyfriend that won't shut up about his s/o, running his mouth endlessly about how amazing you are and how lucky he is to have you. Chifuyu probably knows everything about you at this point. 

Whenever you need help, he's immediately by your side, asking you what he can do to help you. But, everything that involves Baji would result in chaos. He would play around than finish your homework or anything. Will shut up once you had enough of his ass, waiting for you patiently. 

GIVES. THE. BEST. CUDDLES.

The pinnacle of a golden retriever boyfriend. 

Baji can get serious when needed and has your back every time you feel sad or fortune isn't just on your side. He is not afraid to tell you how amazing you are as a person and showers you with affection. If there are days that you don't want to hear anything, he will cuddle you for hours until you fell asleep. With Baji, you don't have to say anything because he knows you enough to understand you without words.

He's a mix of Draken and Mikey when it comes to being protective. Hell will break loose if he saw your battered state. He'll beat up the goons who hurt you first and come back once he took care of them. Once he's back, he will gently tend your wounds, humming a song to calm your nerves. 

If there's something that will become your thing, it's Baji singing you to sleep. He loves to sing you to sleep. His deep raspy voice and the thumping of his heart will never fail to bring you to sleep. 

Mitsuya 

This boy will treat you like royalty. No one talks to me because this is canon, Wakui told me. 

He's the type of boyfriend who brings you gifts, saying it reminds him of you. Almost everything reminds him of you. You had mountains of gifts from Mitsuya, and you told him to stop. But, boy oh boy, he's far from stopping. 

You, along with his sisters, will be his model for every piece of clothing he makes. He had your measurement memorized because that is how often he would make a dress for you. He will tell you to wear them to your dates and will post you to his social media with a caption, "That's my love." 

Does everything for you. Cook, clean, sew your clothes, name it, and Mitsuya already has it done. You told him once to take a break and let you do things to which he agreed. But, eye you every now and then. Pardon him and his parental instinct. He's there, even if you're not asking, asking you if he can help you with something. 

Yeah, he sometimes teaches you math. He's a genius.

Everything you made for him will be his favorite thing, keeping it in a box made especially for the gift you gave him. You gave him a shirt once, and instead of wearing it, he had it in that box. He doesn't want to ruin it, he says. 

You get along well with his sisters and love to see you play with them. Mana and Luna love you very much that they always insist that you sleep for the night and cook them curry. (it's their favorite. You and your boyfriend will usually have a cook-off) 

Well, Mitsuya sometimes dreams of your future family when he sees you play with his sister. This is a secret Mitsuya won't tell anyone. 

Yeah, he plans on marrying you.

So Chikara never really took pregnancies all that seriously, she’d heard how awful and frustrating and down right hard they could be the deal with: with the morning sickness, swollen ankles, the food cravings and much more. Chikara shrugged them off, thinking people where just being overdramatic. How hard could pregnancy be?

Haha her opinion changed real fucking fast when she got pregnant

For the whole pregnancy she’s basically whinny and wanting it to be over. She’s not used to sitting still, she’s a working women, someone who likes to keep active. Cementoss was pretty stern in making sure Chikara didn’t push herself too much, and though Chikara appreciated the concer, she hated being stuck inside

The pregnancy sucked, birthing sucked even more - the day it was over Chikara basically slept for two days so Cementoss was the one watching Hoshi with help from Higari.

However even after Hoshi was born Cementoss still had a job to return to and students to teach. He took some times off from work to help raise Hoshi, but Chikara knew how much Cementoss loved his job and didn’t want to keep him from it. It took a lot of persuading but eventually Cementoss goes back to teaching at UA while Chikara stayed at the UA teacher dorms to watch Hoshi. Once again Chikara underestimated taking care of a baby, she’d heard people say how tiring and frustrating it could be. Pah! If Higari could do it so could she

Chikara loves Hoshi, she really does. But man does she love her sleep too, and she was getting little of that with Hoshi crying out in the night and at ungodly hours in the morning and ALL through out the day. It didn’t help that with Cementoss back at UA he had his own work to try and juggle ontop of helping Chikara with Hoshi, the two end up wiped out by the end of the week.

Higari, who at first was maybe a tiny bit amused a the whole scenario, eventually steps in and offers to take Hoshi for a few days while Chikara and Ken catch up on sleep. Chikara says no at first, not wanting Hoshi out of her sight, but is quickly persuaded by Ken. 

Ken was feeling a little guilty for leaving so much of the parenting to Chikara while he’d been at work, so he planned a special surprise for them. Chikara had and still isn’t very fond of fancy shamncy resturants, Ken knew this, so he planned to buy the two some take out and have a lazy, relaxed picnic by the beach...In short the entire date is a bust.

To start when they ordered their food they got their order mixed up, so they where given food they didn’t order in the first place. Though initially annoyed they laughed it off and continued their way to the beach, they found a nice bench in a more quite part by the beach and sat down to eat, enjoying the peace...for all of two minutes. A villain just happened to be reeking havoc on the street behind them, the result of trigger, and so Cementoss had to step in. He’s really really frustrated that out of all the times a villain had to cause trouble it had to be NOW.  Though Cementoss does eventually beat the villain by the time it’s all over it’s dark and cold, and worse, it’s starting to rain. There’s property damage to sort out, civillians that still need to be checked for injures, reports that want to ask him questions about the fight, the road needs repairing. 

Cementoss comes home tired, soaking wet, and at just gone two in the morning. Chikara had already gone home during the chaos and when it had started to rain. Cementoss guilty walks to the bedroom where Chikara is anxiously pacing - Cementoss was prepared for a scowl or some kind of snappy comeback of how their date night was ruined - he wasn’t expecting Chikara to throw herself at him in a panic with tears brimming in her eyes

She’s basically asking him a million questions all at once while Hoshi innocently babbles away

After about five minutes of Chikara panicking she finally notices the guilty look in Cementoss’s eyes and asks what’s wrong

Cementoss says he’s sorry for ruining their date night, he didn’t mean for things to go the way they did. While he’s apologizing and waiting for Chikara to be angry. Chikara stood there stunned, blinked, and then said: “..You think after all that I still care about the date night?! I care about YOU dummy!”

Cementoss is now snapping his eyes to Chikara, who all of a sudden looks very red in the face (Even after getting married and having Hoshi Chikara is still shy to say gushy stuff, flirting is more of a teasing thing, but genuine mushy stuff gets her all shy). She tries to badly cover it up by brushing off the topic, telling Cementoss to go clean up- then Ken pulls her into a hug and a kiss and Chikara is just putty in his hands

Then Hoshi yanked on Chikara’s hair and ruined the moment-

The next morning Higari pops over to see if Cementoss is okay, he doesn’t like how quite the place is. Nervously, he walks into the home, not finding Cementoss or Chikara anywhere until he enters the bedroom..and snickers

Ken and Chikara where out cold, Ken laying in the middle of the bed, still in his hero suit, blanket half falling off the bed, with Chikara sprawled out side ways over his stomach, snoring away - and tiny Hoshi curled up in his crib that sat in the corner of the room

Higari decided to spare Chikara the embarrassment and didn’t snap a photo, he let them sleep, he knew they probably needed it
