I'm a (cis) boy and i was abused.

No one is "bad" for not telling anyone about the abuse they went through, love. That includes you. In my personal opinion, there is not enough representation for cisgendered males who are abused. It's as if society is saying that if you're a cis male, you're trauma doesn't matter. That is absolutely not true. Please, never feel like you can't tell anyone but also don't feel forced to open up either. You are a precious human being and I adore you for making it this far in life. I hate that this happened to you but I'm proud of you for continuing. I struggle to stay alive on a daily basis. I think you're amazing. 😊😊😊

But yes, I do think it is worth coming forward, but not just to anyone. Tell someone you absolutely trust with everything. Make sure they are trustworthy and will support you through it. And most importantly, make sure they believe you. If they don't, they are not the right person to talk to.

Developing a friendly relationship with people around me.

To help others as much as possible in any situation.

Creating a routine of what I will do each day and performing tasks accordingly.

Occasional outings for entertainment.

Taking care of myself for mental and physical health.

I try to focus on what I will do in the future.

Always keep a positive attitude towards me and others.

Dealing with any situation with patience and being optimistic.

3.What are some relaxation strategies you can use to comfort yourself?

Ans: Below are the relaxation strategies I follow to comfort myself.

I pray regularly, it calms my mind immensely.

Give myself more time to do things.

Often, I spend time with my friends and to do various things which refreshes my mind.

After completing my work, I take rest sometimes.

Take 40 to 50 minutes to go outside for a walk with my grandmother/mother for breathing fresh air.

I like to draw pictures; it cheers up my mind.

I help my parents in household chores which makes them happy. This is also a reason for my peace of mind.

Sometimes I visit my relative's house. I have cousins there. We spend a lot of time with each other which is very enjoyable for us. It makes our relationship healthier.

4.How can you express your emotions creatively?

Ans: Since we are human, our emotions change sometimes. In such a situation, I try to keep myself busy with some kind of creative work. My favorite creative work is painting. Through this, I can control my mind completely. Also, I love to read books of any informative & detective series. Humayun Ahmed, Kazi Anwar Hossain, Samaresh Majumdar, Rabindranath Tagore are among my favorite authors. Sometimes I go to various sightseeing places. It gives me pleasure as well as I gain practical knowledge through it. I am also incredibly good at handwork. When I was a child, I used to do this with my mother. I do a lot of useful handicrafts myself. It saves both my time and money. I think it's important to engage in any kind of creative activity to express yourself. It increases the cheerfulness of the mind which is especially important for living well.

Hunger Strikes Grow More Dire at Red Onion Prison

Several Virginia prisoners began a hunger strike on Tuesday, December 26 at Red Onion State Prison, protesting the continued use of long-term solitary confinement at the institution.

Despite critical concern, outcry from the public and prisoner populations in the state, incarcerated people are still subjected to this brutal practice which has been renamed “restorative housing” since July 1, 2023 when measures were passed to limit its use in the state.

Leading these prisoners in this effort is longtime prison activist, revolutionary writer and artist, Kevin “Rashid” Johnson. Rashid has stated that no one will take any food at all until demands are met. Some of the strike participants have underlying health concerns that make the undertaking of such a demonstration particularly risky.

Rashid, himself, is recovering from multiple rounds of radiation to treat prostate cancer as well as suffering from untreated heart disease/congestive heart failure. This is why the public’s support is especially needed.

We are asking that calls, emails, and letters be sent to the Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) officials as well as Virginia governor Glenn Youngkin’s office voicing support for the strikers and condemnation for the inhumane use of long-term solitary confinement/restorative housing.

PLEASE EVERY DAY THIS WEEK: call and email the following people demanding that the hunger strikers demands be met (end long term solitary confinement) and Rashid receive the medical care he has been denied for months, and that he be transferred immediately. If the latter is not an option, then demand an interstate compact transfer take place immediately.

Otti suspends Govt House driver after accident, orders treatment for injured okada rider

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has ordered the immediate suspension of Onyebuchi Steven, a driver working in the Government House Umuahia, who was involved in an accident with a commercial motorcycle rider in Ohafia, on Sunday, pending an investigation. A statement from the state’s government house, as made available to DAILY POST by the Chief Press Secretary, Kazie Uko, said an investigation will be conducted on the matter to establish the culpability or lack thereof of the driver. According to the press release, Otti also directed the Commissioner for Health, Dr Ngozi Okoronkwo, to follow up and ensure that the injured okada rider, Orji Felix, received the best medical attention possible, at no expense to him or his family. Steven, the driver of a Toyota Hilux pick-up, reportedly collided with Felix, who had just picked up a passenger by the roadside and was about to ride off. The incident happened on Federal Road, by Old Soldier junction at Ohafia, while the motorcyclist and his passenger were promptly evacuated to a hospital near the accident scene, according to the state government. While the passenger was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital in Ohafia and discharged, Felix, according to Okoronkwo, suffered multiple fractures on his left leg and right arm. “The 18-year-old Okada rider was subsequently evacuated in an ambulance from Ohafia to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Umuahia, after he was attended to by Dr. Okoronkwo, who applied first aid on him and bandaged his injured leg and arm. “Felix is currently admitted at the Crowther Ward, FMC, where he is recuperating. Nurses on duty, as of Sunday night, described his condition as very stable,” the statement read. The patient, now receiving full medical attention, was seen interacting and responding to questions posed to him. “The pain is not much again,” he replied when asked about the pain in his left leg. The state government added that Okoronkwo later returned to the FMC on Sunday night to monitor the patient’s progress, even though it appreciated the efforts of on duty in taking care of the injured okada man while reiterating Otti ‘s directive that the victim should receive the best medical attention. The People for Mumia, a virtual event April 23, kicked off the weekend. Activists, musicians, writers and youth shared why Mumia is important to their movement for social and racial justice. Speakers and performers included Mike Africa Jr., Susan Abulhawa, Angela Davis, Marc Lamont Hill, Robin D.G. Kelley, Colin Kaepernick, Tom Morello, Albert Woodfox, Erica Caines, Santiago Alvarez, Monica Moorehead and more.

On April 24, over 1,000 people gathered in Philadelphia for a rally and march. “Taking It to the Streets for Mumia” began at City Hall across from where the statue of racist Frank Rizzo was removed in 2020 due to public outcry against his brutal legacy.

Dr. Johanna Fernandez spoke against the corrupt legal system and explained how the Philadelphia police worked “hand in glove” with the prosecution and racist judge in Mumia’s 1982 trial. Evidence has surfaced indicating the prosecution bribed a key witness.

Pam Africa gave news of Mumia’s health, after having spoken briefly with Mumia earlier in the day. He is still hospitalized, but said he is beginning his recovery by taking some short walks. He confirmed he is shackled while in his bed. Mumia’s medical advisor Dr. Ricardo Alvarez traveled from California to speak at the event.

Mumia’s brother, Keith Cook, traveling from North Carolina, told the gathering that they must continue to fight until his brother is free. YahNé Ndgo, Immortal Technique and Ellect performed, and the crowd sang along to Stevie Wonder’s “Happy Birthday.” Speakers included Chairman Fred Hampton Jr. and Immortal Technique.

Susan Abulhawa connected the struggle for Black liberation with the free Palestine movement. Her thoughts about Mumia’s character and spirit inspired: “Mumia teaches us what it is to be free in our minds. He was a Black man who was too free, and that is why they locked up his body.”

Dr. Suzanne Ross spoke about the U.N. Human Rights Commission’s support for Mumia. Events calling for Mumia’s release were held in France, Germany, Mexico, French Guiana, Britain and the Netherlands, and in several U.S. cities April 24.

A powerful moment came when Janine Africa, Janet Africa, Sekou Odinga, Jihad Abdul-Mumit and Kazi Toure, five liberated political prisoners, stood together on the stage. The group has spent a combined over 150 years behind bars.

The rally moved into the streets for a spirited march from City Hall to the Art Museum, carrying banners and signs and shutting down traffic along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

The march stopped at the site of last year’s houseless encampment, calling attention to the city’s inability to provide basic services to the most vulnerable. Fired by Amazon for speaking up for workers rights, Chris Smalls, with the Congress of Essential Workers, called for support of Amazon workers organizing. The rally continued on the Art Museum steps.

Larry Holmes spoke about how Frank Rizzo, “the most racist police chief,” waged war on the Black Panthers, MOVE and the entire Black community in Philadelphia. Janine Africa warned that we must not let the police kill Mumia like they killed the incarcerated MOVE family members Phil Africa and Merle Africa. Delbert Africa was freed, but succumbed only six months after his release to illness caused by inadequate health care during his incarceration.

Performers included Dominque London and the Universal African Dance and Drum Ensemble. Basiymah Muhammad Bey from the United Negro Improvement Association also spoke.

Grey Street meets Barcelona-based acupuncturist Aisha Kazi

This week we’re chatting with Aisha Kazi about holistic medicine, Gua Sha massage, and natural self-care. 

1) Tell us about yourself! Where are you from? What’s your star sign?

I’m from Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada. I’m a Pisces sun.

2) Can you explain your practice a bit for us? How did you get into it, and what does it mean to you?

I was always interested in medicine - I started out in allopathic medicine but found my values were aligned more with a holistic approach. Chinese medicine appeared in my life and gave me the understanding of health and wellness that I was looking for. It lead me to meditation and Taoism which are both very present in my clinical practice and personal life. 

3) How do you incorporate crystals into your practice? Which are your favourite to work with?

I used them as healing tools through sacred Taoist medicinal teachings passed down to me. I use different crystals for the different individual needs of my patients. Hematite, Carnelian, and rhodochrosite are in heavy rotation at the moment.

4) Can you tell us a bit about Gua Sha and how that works - either as used for facials or as a deeper body massage?

 Gua Sha on facial skin targets acupuncture meridians which helps stimulate collagen, increases circulation, and de-congests facial muscles which in turn softens wrinkles. Every swipe of the Gua Sha tool increases blood flow by 400% ! The lift and glow you can achieve through this technique instant and also accumulates overtime. 

5) What are some ways that you make room for self-care in your daily routine?

I have a 5 minute routine that I love to do. It pulls the tension away from the day and is very soothing to me.

6) If you had the opportunity to come across yourself as a child, what advice would you give yourself?

You are in for an adventure, buckle up! 

7) We heard that you were planning a Gua Sha tutorial video series - are those ready to share with us? If not, is there a tutorial that you recommend to our readers? 

I don’t have a series out yet, but I am going to release them as soon as I can. In the meantime, I highly recommend this tutorial from Sandra Lanshin Chiu!

Availing affordable quality healthcare when required, to all the citizens is every government’s desire. Unfortunately, resources can be a limiting factor due to competing needs of the country. Okay so that was it. I liked the ending, but I am left very underwhelmed. Maya felt like she didn’t matter to the story at all, only existing to set up her solo show coming out; in regards to her actress, I could go for some more emotion from her. Kingpin felt to be such a red herring because of how little importance to the plot he really proved to have. Then there’s Yelena. I’m so glad she got some disclosure of Natasha’s death, but I wish it was… more? Like I wish Clint went more into detail regarding how she sacrificed herself and what for exactly. Like after she learned that, she just kinda dipped. All gone.

I’m just a little disappointed because the build up had so so so so much promise. A lot of these marvel shows unfortunately feel less like they’re trying to be their own big stories equivalent to movies but in TV form but more as like filler and set up for future projects. Like this just set up the new Hawkeye, Echo, and Yelena. It also provided questions in regards to what the frick the watch is that Clint got back for Laura. I heard rumors it’s because she was mockingbird, and I really hope not because that would be such a wasted character.

The show up until now was probably like a 7.5/10 or even an 8/10, but now because of this somewhat lackluster finale, I’d give it a 6.5/10. It’s still good and enjoyable. Has a lot of great acting and character development. But the plot itself seems more built on moments rather than a cohesive plot.
