What Tomiko thinks of:

Banriten Sora: I like her. She's nice, always positive! It would be great if I could talk normally to her, thought. It's hard being a model for young people. The pressure... is immense.... Hmmmm.... Eat vegetables??!!!

Kazuyuki Nozomi: Nozomi is... Something.... I'm not quite comfortable around her but... She's... Nice? ThoughtHeadPatsAreABigNoNoIGotIt ;-;

Kazuyuki Seiya: cute. Just... Cute... If I ever have a kid, I would want them to be like him. (But I feel I have enough on my plates with my niece... I'm not even supposed to watch over her! My job is dangerous, Kazuhiro!!)

Kazuyuki Natsume: May I say... Best friend? I like her, working with her is also really nice! She also handles my hesitations pretty well!

Katsuie Chinatsu: I believe she's near my mom's age? Really acts like it, too. Scary when I don't listen to her advices. I'm a bit wary of her though, she tried to adopt my niece several times after meeting Yae.

Hyakume Hitomi: I feel a bit uncomfortable around her, probably because of her painted eyes. I feel watched... all the time... even when she leaves a room... I also let her do my hair and... it was nice? Don't know about the drills... Does she sees me as a villainess?? Am I a bad person?! Is my guilt surfacing near her because of her eyes?! Is she cursing me?!

Okay, so I’ve dug up some more information on this, not that it makes that much more sense (or that a lot of you care). It looks like their first album release was literally the eponymous “Slap Stick” (KC-7095, published under Minoruphone) in 1979. This album contains tracks such as "Member Introduction”, “You Keep Me Hanging On” (no idea if this is a cover of the Supremes hit), and “Batman Theme”. It is also the only album that I can find a credits list for, showing who plays what. From the sounds of things, they sang as an ensemble, with no one lead singer, but as far as instruments go, man, this lineup:

Kazuyuki Sogabe (Kunzite, Largo, Psycho Mantis): Lead Guitar Akio Nojima (Gemini Saga from Saint Seiya): 2nd Guitar Toshio Furukawa (Hawk’s Eye, Ataru Moroboshi, Piccolo): Slide Guitar Akira Kamiya (Professor Tomoe, Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star): Bass Toru Furuya (Tuxedo Mask, Leon McNichol, Pegasus Seiya): Drums

It is very common for female voice actresses to form groups, especially as the characters from their respective anime, and record songs or whole albums, but for male voice actors with no common character connection to form a group, before any of them even had their most famous roles? This is bizarre.

Looks like they released several albums over the years including “Cobalt Moon,” “Be Caution With Slapstick,” and “GS”. According to Kazuyuki’s Wikipedia entry, he was still performing until 2005, a year before his death. Some enterprising person has put a mix of some of their tracks on YouTube here. Nothing from their first album that I can see. While I do actually have a record player and the means to transcribe LPs to digital, there’s only so far curiosity can take me, and I will pass on buying a copy of their initial album from some international seller.

I found out today quite by accident that the Japanese voice actors for Kunzite/Largo, Tuxedo Mask/Leon McNichol, and Hawkseye/Piccolo formed a band called Slapstick in 1977 long before they played any of those roles.

Not entirely sure how to process this info. I haven't been able to find a sample of their work yet because searches keep bringing up some Chicago ska band by the same name.
