🚨 NEW queer series alert!

We paired young people with 4 amazing LGBTQ+ pros in the culinary industry and gave them an assignment - from cooking and creating, to running a juice bar, to designing interiors and accessories!

Episode 1 is JUICY! This week's assignment? Make almond milk...from scratch. 🥛

We visited Super Juiced Oakland, the queer, Black, and Brown-owned organic juice bar, and paired interns Angelica and Kaylena with co-owner Rana Halpern to learn the ropes (and make a delicious smoothie).

"Kamu udah mutusin mau masuk jurusan apa kuliah?" tanya Julian terhadap Jevian yang terlihat tak mengacuhkan pertanyaan dari ayahnya.

Suasana meja makan hening.

"Kamu tahun depan udah kelas 12, saya ga mau lagi kamu mempermalukan keluarga Brahmana karena tidak naik kelas seperti kemarin" ucap sinis Julian.

Mendengar itu, Jevian menghentikan aktivitas makannya. Dia beridiri dari kursi yang ia duduki.

"Selesai, Ada acara pagi" ucapnya lalu pergi.

"Kamu bener-bener gatau di untung, Hei !!" teriak Julian marah.

"Mas, ini masih pagi. Simpan saja energinya untuk kerja nanti" tegur Dwiana.

Julian diam mendengar nya, dia melanjutkan makan nya dengan diam. Kaylena makan dengan tergesa-gesa. Saat dia sudah selesai meneguk habis minuman miliknya, dia bangkit.

"Aku juga duluan, ya. Lagi buru-buru" pamitnya lalu pergi menyusul Jevian yang sudah berlalu beberapa menit yang lalu.

Jevian tengah memanaskan motor miliknya di garasi rumah. Tak lama kemudian, ia merasakan ada seseorang yang sedang berusaha duduk di jok motor miliknya. Jevian melihat melalui spion motor, lalu berdecak. Dia segera mematikan mesin motor miliknya.

"Lho? Kenapa di matiin? Katanya ada acara pagi? Ayo berangkat nanti telat" ucap Kaylena.

"Turun" ucap Jevian.

"Udah ayo cepat jalan, gue ada jadwal jam 9" desak Kaylena.

"Jangan naik motor, naik mobil" ucap Jevian.

Mendengar ucapan Jevian, Kaylena turun dari motor lalu melepas helm miliknya di ikuti oleh Jevian.

"Pake mobil punya lo aja" ucap Jevian berlalu.

"Makasih, Bu Amel" ucap Kaylena sambil menerima sebuah amplop cokelat besar.

"Ahahaha, Iyaa nak" tawa Bu Amel.

"Oh iya, Bu Amel. Saya mau nanya tentang Jevian" ucap Kaylena.

Bu Amel terdiam sebentar.

"Akhir-akhir ini, Jevian kayaknya lagi ada masalah banget bu. Ibu kan selaku guru konseling, apa Jevian pernah dateng ke ibu buat cerita sesuatu?" tanya Kaylena.

Bu Amel terdiam sebentar, dia masih memikirkan. Apakah dia harus menceritakan kejadian hari itu, apa tidak.

About Me!

Hello! My name is Kaylena Wiederhold and I am a junior at Central Michigan University studying Human Resource Management. I am a Multi-Cultural Scholar, an officer of Society of Human Resource Management, and I am the Vice-President of Students for Life. On my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and working out. 

Once I graduate, I expect to be SHRM certified. Furthermore, I want to go to graduate school and continue my education for a masters in Human Resources. One day, I would love to work in Human Resources at a large corporation in a city.

On Friday, a feminist tried to steal crosses from a pro-life display organized by Students for Life at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, before police officers stepped in.

The unidentified female abortion activist (it’s unclear if she is a student), is seen picking up pink crosses in a display known as the Cemetery of the Innocents; the crosses commemorate the lives of babies killed by abortion.

“The pink crosses,” notes the Students for Life website, “are part of the spring #PlannedParenthoodTruth Tour on campus, where Students for Life groups are exposing the truth about Planned Parenthood’s poor track record on helping women.”

“Students for Life set up the 1,000 crosses around 9 AM, with permission from the school, on the Diag on campus and throughout the day pro-abortion activists, presumably students although that is unclear, kept pulling crosses out of the ground, placing them in trash bags, or putting them on top of trash cans,” reported the pro-life organization on Friday.

Kaylena Wiederhold, Students for Life’s Michigan regional coordinator, confronted the activists vandalizing the display on an area of campus the students responsibly obtained a permit for.
