Was playing Lost to the Ages a few days ago and I noticed Katria’s ghost effect was faded out. She looked kind of cool.

my not-girlfriend ghost girlfriend, I will miss you. No one could possibly deny the chemistry we found between us (there was none, but I'll miss you anyway).

Pairing: Female Dragonborn/Katria Rating: M Summary: Making sure the dead rest easy is something Sayena takes very seriously and after saving the world three or four times, she has gotten pretty good at it. The ghost of one researcher, unable to rest until she clears her name, should be no different from any other. After all, she knows better than to try and keep a soul on this side of the river, no matter how much she wants to.
Excerpt “Are you alright?” the dragonborn asked as she rolled [Calcelmo] onto his back. He really should have asked her name. It was terribly rude of him not to, no matter what else was happening.
“Oh, it’s alright, my dear. Now, if you’ll just fetch that staff, please, I - oh, Molag’s balls, I’m too old for this.”
The dragonborn stood to her full, if not very imposing height above him, and only then did he remember that dragonborn was a title with weight. All sound in the room seemed to fade, the construct on the other side of the wall no more important than the spiders in the distant corners of the room.
Thunder boomed in the distance. Calcelmo tried to prop himself up on his elbows. He had heard the dragonborn could call storms to her, but to see it in person! He must take notes. Surely there - damn it, Katria, why hadn’t she let him take a pencil and paper? Stubborn girl, always thinking she knew best about these things.
“Put the staff down.”The dragonborn stepped over him, her sights firmly set on Taron Dreth. Calcelmo found himself grinning from the floor. The little bastard was going to get thrown around like a leaf in a storm and he damn well knew it! Ha! Quaking in his boots!
“No!” Dreth had backed up the first flight of stairs, panicked as a cornered hare. “You can’t!”
“I’m not asking. Put it down, now. You won’t get another chance.”

Erandur assumes Erlind is a more experienced adventurer than they are. Erlind is just confident - or arrogant - enough to either not notice or not care. Looking back, they find they can't remember which. But whichever it is and after hearing the screams of other people's nightmares, Erlind agrees to help Erandur save Dawnstar.
She knows she's in too deep the moment the two of them - and the dog that Erlind adopted just before leaving Winterhold - reach Nightcaller Temple and Erandur starts explaining more. But she knows paralysis spells and she's fought draugr and some ghosts before; this shouldn't be too bad, should it? Nevermind her own bad dreams relating to aforementioned draugr.
This is the first time Erlind's seen any living person be slain in battle. This is the first time he's killed anyone not already dead, too. It's very, very different. If Erandur notices - which surely he does - he doesn't say anything until after the Skull of Corruption is destroyed and he's expressing his own discomfort. Erlind clings to that subtle offer like the lifeline that it is.
Over the next three months, Erlind stays in Dawnstar listening to Erandur's counsel. They play their lute alongside Katria in the inn for some coin and assist Rustleif and Seren at the forge for a little more to make up the difference. When time permits, they absorb Erandur's lessons about the teachings and tenets of Mara keenly. It's due to Erandur that Erlind is able to decide which of the gods they wish to follow most directly, and it's Erandur who gives them an amulet to wear in representation...albeit with a warning of how most people in Skyrim will interpret said amulet if it's visible and Erlind isn't dressed like a priest. They take the warning gratefully; at least right now, they have no interest in marriage whatsoever.

So while playing through the thieves guild quest again and Nocturnal sounded familiar. I looked it up and I was right. Now someone said she voiced Katria and apparently many others.
Nancy Drew is both the Daedric Prince of darkness and secrets as well as the wife of Sithis, also known as Lady Death

I still don’t understand why Bethesda didn’t make Ralof and Hadvar followers and potential marriage candidates in-game. They could’ve been two of the most fun options: they’re young, you and the one you pick help each other escape, their families are the first in the game you’re introduced to, etc. If you go through with the civil war, you’d be fighting alongside either of them and both get promoted at in a way similar to the Dragonborn. Now, they are available as followers and candidates through mods (though Hadvar has a different voice since his is unique in-game). Of course, while the mod is greatly appreciated, I still don’t understand why they didn’t put it in the vanilla game.
Another character I wish you could make a follower or marriage candidate is Katria (part of the Dawnguard DLC), who despite being dead throughout the entirety of the game is for some reason one of my favorite NPCs.
There should also really be options across the board for just a change in relationship for those guys and gals who don’t seem the types to settle, like Brynjolf and Teldryn.
More options in general are always good. I’m the type who can never have two different characters marry the same in-game spouse.

Playing Lost to the Ages always makes me sad. You enter a dwemer ruin moments after Katria's death, a brilliant scholar-adventurer who, after years of research & digging around in dwemer ruins, is on the trail of the Aetherium Forge. You help Katria track down parts of a key & eventually locate the Forge. Besides really cool & unique items, I really enjoyed working with Katria, for me she seemed to be different than what you'd expect of the usual adventurers & she had such passion in her voice when talking about the Forge, which made the end all the more sad.

As Syrus walks into the Silver-Blood Inn, he does a scan of the room. Nothing seems particularly out of place at first glance — it’s clearly packed with regular customers, mercenaries looking to be hired, and plenty of nords side-eyeing him as he wanders toward the bar. With the stranglehold the Thalmor have on Markarth, though, Syrus can hardly blame them for their judgment.
If they only knew…
“I’ll take two flagons of warm mead,” Syrus tells the barkeep, sliding some coins over. “And a room, if there’s one available.”
While he’s waiting on the drinks, he can’t help but overhear bits of other conversations drifting through the room, though one in particular catches his attention:
“…of course, I am the world’s foremost expert in dwemer metallurgy! Taron Dreth. I’m here in Markarth to visit my colleague, Calcelmo. He’s very intrigued in my research on Aetherium. Not that I expect you to know anything about that!”
“Taron Dreth, you said?” Syrus asks, slipping a little closer to the dunmer who was talking to an old nord. In unison, the elf and three mercenaries sitting near him turn to face him. “I’m sorry, it’s just… I’m sure I’ve heard your name before, somewhere. Perhaps in a book?”
The elf perks up a little, clearly preening. “Yes, of course! You must have read the Aetherium Wars! That was the culmination of years of grueling research. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to explore dwemer ruins?”
“Oh, yes,” Syrus says, grimacing. “I’ve spent plenty of time in old ruins. Even when I was young, my father used to have me help him collect things to tinker with. If you think dwemer devices are bad, you should see some of the mechanisms the ayleids came up with!”
Taron frowns a little, crossing his arms defensively. “Yes, well, I don’t really have time to chat about — ”
“And you mentioned Aetherium?” Syrus continues, smiling. He taps into his magic a little, holds a silent spark of it in his palm. “That’s truly fascinating!  I’m certain my partner would love to talk with you! She’s been doing a lot of grueling research in old ruins herself.”
Syrus hears the inn’s doors open again, watches Taron’s eyes flick over his shoulder and lock onto the person that just came in. His face pales, and he stands quickly, drawing a dagger from his belt. “Shit, that’s — !”
He’s too slow. Syrus steps forward and grabs him, feels the spark arc through his body, paralyzing him. “Ah, that’s where I’ve heard your name before. From Katria, your… what was it? Friend and colleague? Who you stole all that research from?”
Taron lets out a choked noise, then slumps forward. Syrus hears his guards draw their weapons, but they’re far too late. “Not another move,” Katria calls from the doorway. “Or the last thing you’ll taste is my steel.”
They hesitate. One takes a step forward, then falls as an arrow slips through a crack in his armor, proving her aim is true. The other two guards freeze, and the room falls into an eerie silence. Syrus listens to Katria’s footsteps approach as he lowers Taron’s body to the ground, feels her stop right behind him.
When he looks to her, he can see the conflicting emotions on her face — fury in her eyes one moment, then relief, and… perhaps a little sorrow, too. She shakes her head. “I bet your regret making an enemy out of me, old friend,” she sighs. “Let’s go, Syrus. Our drinks are waiting for us.”

After all, she knows better than to try and keep a soul on this side of the river, no matter how much she wants to.

With an undignified yelp, Sayena spun around and found herself looking at the manifestation of her good vibes toward the dead. The transparent outline of a woman, vaguely blue and misty even in the light of her torch, stood with folded arms barely a few feet away. Clad in armor and sporting a bow, short sword, and small but well-outfitted backpack, she looked the way every budding adventurer imagined themselves before their own reflection revealed the hunchbacked truth.
The steely gaze of the ghost swept over Sayena with the same, exacting judgment of a mother looking over her child before temple services, and a hundred memories of the hot sun and fussing hands around her head all strived to make her feel small. Now realizing it was the ghost’s voice and not her own intrusive thoughts, she stood up straighter, determined to defend her rumpled shawl, messy hair, and scuffed trousers to a mother who could stand none of them.
Huh.
“What?”
You’re not what I was expecting.
“A Redguard?”
No, a scholar. I thought you’d be another treasure hunter. What are you doing down here?

Relationship: Female Dragonborn/Katria Rating: M Chapter: 1/5 Summary: Making sure the dead rest easy is something Sayena takes very seriously and after saving the world three or four times, she has gotten pretty good at it. The ghost of one researcher, unable to rest until she clears her name, should be no different from any other. After all, she knows better than to try and keep a soul on this side of the river, no matter how much she wants to.
Excerpt: There was a single stone island to support the trunk, about five feet in diameter, and taking up most of it was the prone, unmoving form of an adventurer.
“Oh.”
Yeah.
“I’m, uh, sorry. Again.”
It’s alright. A few feet to the side and I would have been alright. Bad luck.
“If you don’t mind me saying, you seem to be taking it rather well.”
Thank you. All those years being an adventurer, I guess you get used to changing circumstances.
Sayena smiled stupidly before realizing that the ghost was cocking her head slightly and looking at her very curiously. “So, uh, can I ask why you’re still… you know…”
Still here?
“Yes. Most of the ghosts I’ve seen have been more tortured.”
What makes you think I’m not tortured? “You haven’t tried to kill me yet. Don’t you usually want people to join you in death?”
Usually, but you’re not the person I want to kill.
“Oh. That’s good.”
