There’s currently a couple ARCs of MONSTRILIO by Gerardo Sámano Córdova making their way through the booksellers, who are all totally obsessed with it:

Grieving mother Magos cuts out a piece of her deceased eleven-year-old son Santiago's lung. Acting on fierce maternal instinct and the dubious logic of an old folktale, she nurtures the lung until it gains sentience, growing into the carnivorous little Monstrilio she keeps hidden within the walls of her family's decaying Mexico City estate. Eventually, Monstrilio begins to resemble the Santiago he once was, but his innate impulses--though curbed by his biological and chosen family's communal care--threaten to destroy this fragile second chance at life.

Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones (the OG, how could I not?)

King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo (Nikolai Lantsov you will always be famous, and what a woman you chose to be obsessed with)

The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo (this is her newest book, and the love interest is basically the Darkling if he was more into simping and less into warcrimes. Is this reductive? yes. It is also truth.)

Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett (truly. just the book of all time.)

The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna (what if not only a man but an entire household simped for you?)

Ten Thousand Stitches by Olivia Atwater (Cinderella but the fairy godmother is an emotional support himbo)

!!!!The Witchwood Knot by Olivia Atwater (my favourite book of the year so far AND THAT ASTARION-CODED MAN IS DOWN BAD!!)

The Scholomance by Naomi Novik (not my favourite Novik and rightfully criticised as problematic, but oh dear lord. SIMP BEHAVIOUR.)

House with Good Bones by T Kingfisher (I think Kingfisher's men are mostly just 'very nice men' but this one simped hard enough to participate in a horror novel)

Thornhedge by T Kingfisher (tell a lie this man simped hard enough to fall into a situationship with a frog-presenting woman)

Cress by Marissa Meyer (this is the 3rd in a series, but is a rare example of a female simp)

Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi by Shannon Chakraborty (the man in this simps so hard for the milf pirate protagonist and so do I)

The Falconer by Elizabeth May (this is enemies to lovers that is actually simp to lovers).

Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke (is this vastly underselling the themes and concerns of a 1000 page novel? yes. is jonathan strange a massive simp? also yes. he becomes a magician literally to impress his wife.)

Romance

The Bodyguard by Katherine Center (this man simps from the moment she tackles him, he is so valid)

The Room-Mate Risk by Talia Hibbert (this man has been in love with the female lead for years)

Take A Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert (not my favourite in this series, but the biggest simp)

Kiss the Girl by Zoraida Cordova (contemporary little mermaid retelling that has vaguely believable love at first sight)

People We Meet On Vacation by Emily Henry (simp-to-lovers, friends-to-lovers, unhealthy decade of pining)

Hey there's like 600 more of you than there were than the last time I asked so...anybody recommend me some fantasy or scifi YA books that feature a lot of family drama?

Specifically, I mean like multi-generational, established families. Usually when I get asked this I get a lot of recs about establishing a found family consisting of several peers. and those are great and I love them, but not what I'm looking for with this ask.
