katherinecenter Just got to have the chattiest, yummiest, most nourishing long dinner with @genpadalecki and @jaredpadalecki ! We talked books and parenting and life, and they were the absolute loveliest people to spend time with!
Gen and I met when she chose The Bodyguard for her book club. We did an IG Live together and I totally fell in love with her sweetness—and genuine, heartfelt love of reading. 📚💕
I texted this pic, without any caption, to my daughter—who is a true fan of Supernatural—and she freaked out in the most adorable way.
Thanks so much for a fantastic time, Gen and Jared—but thanks also for helping me give my little cutie such a fun thrill with this pic! 💖💖💖 Hugs from H-town!!
Such a busy social calendar! They look great!

katherinecenter: The final event of my book tour is going to be a once-in-a-lifetime, totally unforgettable night at the heartbreakingly beautiful Paramount Theatre in Austin where I’ll be in conversation with Genevieve and Jared Padalecki (🤩🤩🤩)—and then we are all going to WATCH WHEN HARRY MET SALLY TOGETHER!!!
My all-time favorite movie in any genre—and one I’ve seen so many times I have 90% of it memorized—but I haven’t seen it *in a theater* since it came out in the 1980s! And I’ve never in my life seen *any* movie in *any* theater as gorgeous as The Paramount!!!!!! 🫠✨✨✨✨
June 11!!!!
Details and ticket link in my bio! Bring all your friends! Bring your kids! Do not miss this chance to savor the greatest rom-com of all time together! Laughter and joy and fun are good—but they’re so much better with other people! 😘😘😘
Come join us!!! Even if you’ve already come to another event on the tour, come to this one, too!! It will be totally different in every way! (Your ticket includes a book, but you can just give that to your bestie or some other good-hearted person! 💕)
This event is part of the Summer Classic Film Series, which is in its 51st year!

My March Reading Stats!!!!!

My biggest recommendation from this list is “The No-Show” and the less you know going into reading it, the better. Thank me later.
Also I think that Kate Clayborn is being tragically slept on as an author.

Read in 2023:
When you’re not around, even for a little while, I feel like I have to go find you. I just feel this pull to be near you. I want to know what you’re thinking, and what you’re up to, and how you feel. I want to take you places and show you things. I want to memorize you—to learn you like a song. And that nightgown, and the way you get so cranky when I leave my stuff all over the place, and the way you tie your hair back in that crazy bun. You make me laugh every single day—and nobody makes me laugh. I feel like I’ve been lost all my life until now—and somehow with you I’m just … found.

The Rom-Commers by Katherine Center was genuinely the perfect book. I had an issue with her pacing in The Bodyguard, but all of those format problems were ironed out in this release. It was honestly perfect - perfect arguments, perfect romance beats, the emotions all hit SO GOOD.
anyway, a very good romance novel.

just started the bodyguard by katherine center!! on page 40 something- so far i'm liking hannah, we haven't actually met jack yet but i'm excited to. his last name is actually ridiculous and it's hard to look past and i'm sorry to anyone here who might have stapleton as their last name but i hate it
i'm having a hard time imagining what jack looks like tbh but i feel like i'll start to conjure up an image once i get further into the book and i see what his personality is like

The Rom-Commers by Katherine Center
Emma has always loved writing rom-coms, and Charlie Yates has been her favorite screen writer for a long time. When her agent asks her to help Charlie Yates with his latest screenplay, a rom-com, Emma is excited to work with her hero, until she reads it.
This book was really cute and fun. I enjoyed it and don't really have any deeper commentary than that.

RECO OF THE WEEK!
Happiness for Beginners by Katherine Center
Synopsis:
"A year after getting divorced, Helen Carpenter, thirty-two, lets her annoying, ten years younger brother talk her into signing up for a wilderness survival course. It's supposed to be a chance for her to pull herself together again, but when she discovers that her brother's even-more-annoying best friend is also coming on the trip, she can't imagine how it will be anything other than a disaster. Thus begins the strangest adventure of Helen's well-behaved life: three weeks in the remotest wilderness of a mountain range in Wyoming where she will survive mosquito infestations, a surprise summer blizzard, and a group of sorority girls.
Yet, despite everything, the vast wilderness has a way of making Helen's own little life seem bigger, too. And, somehow the people who annoy her the most start teaching her the very things she needs to learn. Like how to stand up for herself. And how being scared can make you brave. And how sometimes you just have to get really, really lost before you can even have a hope of being found."

Book Review: The Rom-Commers by Katherine Center
With The Rom-Commers, Katherine Center has officially cemented herself as one of my must-read authors. Am I a sucker for romcoms about writers? Yes. Will I read hundreds upon hundreds of stories about writers falling in love while they're writing? Also yes. (What can I say? I'm predictable like that.)
Even so, there was something so endearing, amusing, and surprisingly moving about this story featuring two screenwriters - one, an amateur named Emma Wheeler who has put her dreams on hold for a decade to be her father's sole caretaker only to now land the writing opportunity of a lifetime with her idol; the other, a Hollywood legend named Charlie Yates who has won multiple literary awards but can't seem to write a good romcom because he doesn't believe in love, because he thinks it's nothing more than a senseless, distracting affectation.
All in all, this was a grumpy-sunshine, opposites attract, workplace DESSERT of a story. Not only were Emma and Charlie stuck together inside the same house for six weeks, but there was witty banter, line dancing, swimming pool antics, kisses for "research," and an adorable but food-resistant guinea pig called Cuthbert. On top of that, there was nuanced sensitivity paid to issues surrounding ailing health, devastating loss, and family, which I felt added significant weight to the story as well as to the characters.
This was so cute, so sweet! Funny in spades, too. It's definitely the sort of book that makes readers believe, with their whole hearts, that love stories matter. So three cheers to that!
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC in exchange for my review.
4/5 stars

📽️ Happiness for Beginners (2023)
The acting in this wasn’t super great, but the story itself is very sweet. I thought the plot and everything was really unique, too. Some of the characters weren’t my favorite, and the humor didn’t always hit, but the two main characters were super likable. I’ve never read the book it was based on, but I know I would like it because the story is so good. I really enjoyed this one and would watch it again.
Sex/nudity: 1/10 (kissing)
Language: 2/10 (some but not a ton)
Violence: 0/10
Overall rating: 8/10
