Apocalypse Challenge - Fallow Shores

"Can I help you?"

Anne spotted her - no, not her, it - almost too late. Or perhaps it was more accurate to say that she smelled it first - nobody exactly smelled of roses those days, but that grave-stench hit her like a slap in the face.

Then she saw it: the seeping, rotten flesh, the glazed eyes where no sentience lived anymore - just a mindless, ravenous hunger.

Anne screamed and ran into the clinic, barring the door, hoping the thing wouldn't be able to break through and come after her.

Luckily, the zombie seemed to lose interest in the pursuit - perhaps because it sensed more readily available prey nearby.

Jaclyn fought tooth and nail, but the thing was frighteningly strong - and seemed to feel no pain. When she felt its teeth sinking into her arm, she knew it was all over.

Kate could only watch in horror, cursing herself for a silly goose - she could've waited until the morning to come by for more rad pills!

I say that Kai is more of a flirt than Thorne because he genuinely means it. Thorne is an incorrigible flirt, but it's all talk. As soon as he actually likes someone (see: Kate Fallow and Cress) he either doesn't flirt, or flirts badly.

I have been waiting for this question all my life. Under the cut because it's going to get long.

Here's the full giant family tree.

Top row we do not care about. Everyone's shitty father (the old Bann Trevelyan) who married a pretty foreign wife for the money and then cheats on her with his kitchen staff. I don't care about them except that he sucks.

Next row: Heward and Decima The young Bann Trevelyan (has taken over the title since his father died) and his Tevinter wife. Thedas's Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma. A bann's son met a Magister's daughter at a party, she ran away from her arranged marriage with him, the rest is history.

Emmeline and Leolin The next sibling down got sick of her shitty father and got married young to escape him. Luckily, Leolin is a good guy. A Ferelden arl's son from the back of the Fallow Mire. He gave her a beautiful, people-less swamp and two sons and she didn't talk to her family again for a decade.

Mari and Bryn People that actually matter. The Inquisitor and the Herald, respectively. A Templar and a mage, respectively. Six months apart, closest out of any of the siblings. As teenagers, she followed him to the Circle in the only way she could: joining the Order. With a head full of propaganda, really thinking she was going to be protecting mages and serving good. Mari was reassigned from Ostwick to Kirkwall, they didn't like having two siblings on opposite "sides" in one Circle, and she served at the Gallows for a while. Lost her place in the Order for getting pregnant with Clodagh after an affair with Raleigh Samson, Meredith really didn't like that. She never, not in what I consider canon, had the Anchor, but she did help Cullen command the Inquisition forces with Cullen. Bryn was Tranquil for a while. He got lost in the Fade and technically failed his Harrowing on time alone, and of course they overreacted. Tranquil until the Conclave, that is. The Anchor ripped his connection to the Fade back open. He was deeply autistic and deeply traumatised by All That, but still the Herald of Andraste and the figurehead. Mari romanced Cullen and Bryn romanced Dorian.

Next row: The only one of that generation of cousins who really matters is Clodagh. Mari's (and Samson's) daughter who ran away to Minrathous to both study and further her magic abilities, but also to get out of her mother's shadow and make something of herself for herself. She took the last name Mercar as an alias because Trevelyan carried too much weight, and she ended up in Dock Town with the Shadow Dragons.

Sunday Tea

“Colin” Pen said entering into the drawing room at Bridgerton house. Kate and Anthony sitting across from Colin drinking their Earl Gray. “Yes” he says with a crooked smile. “Don’t forget to grab some of your old journals from your room.” “What for?” Said Kate “Penelope wants to edit them for a part two of my book.” “Oh that’s wonderful!” Kate said taking a sip of tea.

Colin and Pen walk into Colin’s childhood room. A room that Penelope had always imagined but had never dared to look in. Until of course after they wed. Colin looked at his bride with with amazement. He can’t believe she was truly his wife. He never knew he could love someone with all his soul. Colin walks to the bedroom door and shuts it and locks with the key. “Now that I have you to myself, let me kiss you in my bedroom.” He said with a flirty smile. He grabs Pen around her waist and pulls her closer. Sharing the same breath he cups her cheek with hand locking eyes. She still gets butterflies when he looks at her with a hunger that can only get filled with her touch. Colin kisses her gentle at first, but he could hardly contain himself. Being in his childhood bedroom made it more thrilling almost inappropriate. Building this fire in his belly moving to his chest. Pushing Penelope against the door kissing her deeply making her moan “oh Colin they could hear us!” She said in between Colin kissing her lips and moving down her neck to her chest. “Shhh let me kiss you” she wasn’t going to fight him. She was rather enjoying this inappropriate escapade in her husband’s family home. Colin pulls down the front part of her dress exposing both of her porcelain breasts. “So perfect” he says scooping one of them into his mouth sucking and swirling her rosie nipple in his mouth making Pen go wild with excitement. Colin takes Penelope’s hands and presses them against the door above her head. Causing her to limit her movement. Colin liked this, he liked to see her squirm underneath with pleasure. Colin with his other hand to lift his hand under her dress fallowing her inner thighs up towards her women-Hood, reaching her opening he rubs her pear in a circular motion making her arch her back back with a deep moan. “Ooh mmmmm” with her arms still above her head her legs began to shake. Colin takes two of him fingers and inserts himself feeling how ready she was for him. He rubs with his thumb and pushes in and out with his other two fingers. He watch’s his wife quiver with pleasure breathing heavily into his neck, making this manhood grow harder with every thought of him inside her. Colin took his hand out from between her legs and stuck them in his mouth. “Mmm you’re nice and ready for me” he said in a dark but confident tone. Penelope’s eyes widened and was eager to do what ever was next.

Colin lifts her leg up making her dress fall against her waist. Colin lets go of her hands above her head allowing Pen to hold on to her husband’s muscular shoulders. Lifting her other leg around Colin waist allowing his erection to enter making Colin groan with angst. Penelope gasps as her body adjusts to him entering, moving fast and hard. Colin couldn’t contain himself “do you like it hard and fast?” He asked as the curls were falling around his forehead with small beads of sweat glisten. “Ohh yes COLIN yes!!” She matches his rhythm, pushing her against the door making a fast and loud “thud thud thud” “Colin they will hear us” she whispered Colin didn’t respond he just darkened his eyes and thrusted harder and harder. Penelope covered her mouth with one hand and dug her fingers into Colin shoulder knowing will leave a mark under his shirt. “Oh my oohhh Colin!” She said under her hand. Colin with one last thrust fell into her releasing himself. “Oh Pen THATS A CUP OF TEA!” He said in joyful laughter while pulling up his britches. Penelope giggled trying to get her bearings, “ you must want to add a sibling for Elliot” she said jokingly. “I simply just enjoy a cup of afternoon tea.”

The second chapter of TFFA was brilliant. Love your non-linear narrative where you slowly reveal the next pieces of the story until they all come together and show the whole picture. ❤️ Seeing Anthony overwhelmed with panic was gut-wrenching. Non linear storytelling is one of my Favourite devices in books and I think when you start writing you tend to emulate what you admire in other works first and I think, unfortunately, I’m stuck with this one 😂

Kate’s internal monologue as Anthony unconscious in the hospital were fairly vague, honestly.

She mostly just felt sick. Still felt sick even after Sister Danbury said

“You know him?”

“Yes, we met once. He’s… that’s who I slapped at the dance that nice. He’s Mrs Basset’s Brother.”

“And are you comfortable caring for him? We need someone who knows what they’re-“

“It’s fine.” She forced herself to say, “I’ll be fine.”

And mostly, as she watched him, slowly trying to disinfect the numerous cuts and gashes all over his body, she noticed how much younger he seemed like this. How small he was without his cocky smile and the bravado that had fallowed him that night.

“He’s just a man.”

They all were, in the end. Just boys, some of them who’d come through, barely eighteen, already wounded forever.

And she knows. How difficult this may be. How Daphne will cry and weep for her brother and Kate will have to watch it. But at least he’s alive.

Fun fact: African wild dogs (Mark) will vote together on hunts by sneezing. They will literally sneeze to agree to hunt. They’re so quirky for that.

Fun fact 2: Pine martens (Kate) are of the caniformia suborder. This suborder includes all “dog-like” animals such as canines, bears, mustelids, raccoons and seals.

Fun fact 3: Fossae (Jamie) are of the feliformia suborder. These are the “cat-like” animals such as felines, hyenas, mongooses and viverrids.

Fun fact 4: Fallow deer (Charlie) are one of the most beloved animals in the UK but they’re actually not native to the British isles at all. They actually originate in southwest Asia but have lived in the UK for long enough to be considered a British species.

I don’t have anything for Erin I’m sorry I don’t know much about bats :( um ummm Egyptian fruit bats are small. There we go that’s a fact.

Kate Murray, who was visiting, found Erwin strangely adorable, even if she didn't put any stock in his conspiracy theories and the colander hat was silly.

Maybe she was just lonely, but she sensed there was more to him than met the eye.

"I'm sure you're strong too, Erwin. Here, I'm gonna give you the chance to prove it."

Not to be outdone, Zuleika Izadi swooped in to stake her own claim.

Erwin had no idea what was going on, but he wasn't going to complain about two hot girls hitting on him, in front of that jock, no less!

How crazy would it have been if Teen Wolf had a group completely opposite of the hunters?

Like I mean opposite Gerald and Kate level crazy too, a group that believes that werewolves need to be protected because clearly they can't protect themselves anymore. Just like an endangered species, they need to be captured and put in a safe environment were humans can't harm them.

Imagine what Allison would go through with her family being seen absolute scum in this groups eyes. Especially after what Kate did to Derek and the Hales.

Or how Derek and the other werewolves would react, because here's a group of humans that don't see them as monsters, but they don't see them as people either. Just animals that need protection.

Like if your a werewolf in a rough situation, would you risk the hunters? They have a code but not all hunters fallow it. You could go to this group, you'll have protection but at the cost of your freedom.

Lady of Birchgrove:

Silvia tilted her head to read the spines of the books, her eyes snagging on a long row of similar ones. On their spines, painted on with some dye or ink, were numbers. 1423-24, 1425-26, 1427-28. Curiously she pulled down the first one, its worn leather cover and crude binding marked it as slightly different than the other books titled like it. As she gently set the aging book on the desk, some of the pages shuffled out of place and she winced, trying to nudge them into place before they got jumbled. She cracked open the cover and began to read.

Reclaim:

“Quirina!” She rushed forward and Quin reeled backward, but her hands landed on her cheeks, freezing her in place. “Oh baby, are you alright?! Romone told me everything.” She stared wide eyed at Ms. Fallow’s round face as she hastily scanned her up and down. “Wha- everything?” Quin squeaked, shivers running up her spine. “Yes. How the horrible men who hurt you before came and stole you away in the middle of the night!” Her hands moved away from her face and Quin could breathe again. She gripped her shoulders, her dark eyes shining with concern. “Are you hurt?"
