Imagine Katarina's harem watching her past life and when they got to the point of her playing the fortune lover, all they can see is her past life version simping over the game version Maria.
There is Katarina having a meeting inside her head for creating a best way to escape the embarrassing scene unfolding in front of her.
And there is Maria smiling and blushing and deep inside celebrating cause she know she has the upperhand against the harem battle.

What I think about shipps in my next life as a Villainess
1 Geordo x Katarina: okay so first the GeoKata my opinion on this is this shipp Is ABUSIVE towards Katarina, let me explain Katarina started in this relationship believing from the start that Geordo is just using her and that he will cheat on her and is willing to actually exil her as well as taking everything she owns from her and even kill her to be with that other girl, and in the beginning that was TRUE, he indeed just wanted to USE her! I know that he changed his mind on that but that started only because she was "different " and worse is that she thinks she "deserve" that for being the "Villainess" Yes she thinks he has "right" to cheat, betray and kill her because of her "Villainess" staus, yes she does stand up to him to protect others, but she does that despite of what he might do to her because she just cares so much for others, she also sees the engagement she has with him as a cruel leash dragging her to her doom and even if she doesn't see like that anymore she did so for 7 years! In which she continuesly asked Geordo to break their engagement, which he refused, to her this relationship made it impossible for her to have any amount of self-respect, I would hate it if Geordo is the one ending up with Katarina since it would basically rewarding him for unintentionally abusing her and the horrible actions of his Original Counterpart, since she will always think it's his right to cheat, betraying and even kill her as long as she sees that as his "right" it's impossible for them to stay as equal to eachother Katarina will always be Geordo's VICTIM as long as she convinced he can treat her how he wants just because she's the Villainess, this would be a Stockholm syndrome situation and this relationship makes it nigh impossible for her to develop any self-respect, and even if she's able to realize that is not his right to do those things to hear she still had to live under this assumption for 7 years! This relationship is not good for her, it prevents from having self-respect, she believes he can treat her as horrible as he wants, there is no way for them to be equal in this relationship and Katarina shouldn't be forced to be with someone who makes her think less of herself I honestly can't believe that people who actually like Katarina are GeoKata fans giving how abusiv it clearly is to her,GeoKata is bad for Katarina's self worth it's bad for her mental health and it's bad for her overall, yeah it's good for Geordo but if you want Katarina to be sacrificed for Geordo like that than your being very unfair to Katarina, Katarina deserves better + Geordo is the one behaving the most like his Original Counterpart treating Katarina like property, his Original self who exiled and murdered Katarina, Katarina DESERVES BETTER.
Katarina x Keith: so I take Katarina x Keith for seconds, after everything I said about GeoKata you probably think I hate this shipp aswell right? Well wrong, I don't like it, but I don't hate it because unlike Geordo Keith has actually made far greater difference between him and his Original Counterpart, further more he has been far more considered of Katarina's boundaries, and Katarina has far less problems building self-respect since they live constantly together and had a clear heart to heart after the Golem incident she believed that nothing of the bad stuff would happen if she's just happen to be supportive there be no Exile killing, so he puts less of a strain on her soul than Geordo dose, and I can see him to be actual treading her right he's even willing to help her with her civil disguise when visiting Maria, and even helping her from staying out of her Mother's radar, so I atleast see he would do his best for her and atleast try to be good for her so he's better than Geordo and they can have a functioning positive relationship
Katarina x Mary: So third is Mary and yes she's a clear yandere with an extremely aggressive personality, but what concerns me about her is that their is clear indication she's actually willing to Kidnapping Katarina without letting her know the situation she's in, therefore I'm not really a fan of it but atleast she doesn't actually has to fear for her life with Mary, so she's atleast better than Geordo.
Alan x Katarina: so I know alot people like this shipp and I'm honestly not a fan of cheating, but again Mary herself is in love with Katarina so I guess it wouldn't be wrong if he understood that hey if he managed to get Katarina and was willing to share Mary would be more than pleased with him, so yeah I also like that they had Sword fights with her and i wanted to see Sword fighting Katarina
Sophia x Katarina: so now we're going to Katarina's Original friend the friend who Reincarnated along side her, A-Chan a lot people would say the fact that Sophia is A-chans Reincarnation and that she's followed Katarina in to the next life makes her a great partner for Katarina right ? I actually have a serious bone to pick with Sophia not despite but BECAUSE she is A-Chan because a have with A-Chan herself because as you all surely remember A-Chan was the one who introduced her to Fortune Lover and also the one who told her what a Terrible "Villainess" Katarina Claes is, which is the main reason why Katarina now believes she doesn't deserve love, yes I said it A-Chan is responsible for Katarina believing she dosen't deserve love, had she been more honest about the story and told her Katarina who is supposed to be the Villainess is less evil than Heroine and the Capture Targets who ruthlessly destroyed her life, that Geordo and Maria and Keith are Morally bankrupt Monsters (even if there's speculation that Maria didn't want it) who had no right to do what they did to her, than Katarina would atleast have been able to understand that she deserved love and just had the bad luck to end up with a very bad partner who doesn't treat her fair, she would have been able to develop both feeling worth of love and self-respect and might actually get out of the toxic hold Geordo had on her and actually being happy with out thinking of herself as the lowest being in the world, and I know that Sophia/A-Chan maybe just wanted to get her in FL, but it's still A-chans fault that Katarina has such a low self esteem, and after all the content we now know that Original Katarina was a pretty good person atleast for Noble Girl standards, so all A-Chan had to do was just tell Her the Truth that Original Geordo, Original Keith and Original Maria were the Selfish Monsters they are and how they literally ricked a trial to unfairly ruin her life steal everything from her and yeah that's something I hope she sets straight in one of those visions.
Nicole x Katarina: The best ship so far, and even though he appears outward similar if Geordo told this Nicole to help him fake documents to get a person exiled who doesn't deserve that he would probably report that to the King and Queen instead of actually partaking in it, he has been very considered and he is a clever person who also has great chemistry with her
Maria x Katarina: The final part of the main Harem, and I never hide that I'm a huge MariKata fan, I know that comes of strange as I very much insist that Geordo Is the most similar to his Original self despite spending the most time with Katarina, well Maria is the opposite, unlike her sneaky, selfish, heartless Original Counterpart, Hamefura Maria is brave, charismatic she doesn't hide behind others like a Coward, when Katarina or her other friends are in danger she sticks up to them, I really think that Hamefura Maria is the best partner for Bakarina, even though Original Maria is a horrible person, and don't come me with "but she just wasn't confident enough to apposed Geordo and/or Keith on Katarina's trial" she clearly didn't felt any remorse about it! Our she would act differently in FL 2
Harem x Katarina: this is one of the view Shows where a Harem ending is deserved.

Mary Hunt has got to be my fav yandere character. I watched the dollhouse episode and her fantasy was to be a man so that she can openly show her love for Catarina. And she had Geordo detained as she steals his fiancée in front of him! 🤣 She’s so delightfully devious

#YES! GIVE ME THAT FANFIC ANGST!#IT'LL MAKE ME CRY BUT IT'S WORTH IT!#it's just so rare to see Katarina so self-depricating in the first place#but now she has good reason to be#if I was her I would be too!#Hamefura#honestly On The Verge of Doom is SO much better than I thought it would be!#like new plot#new struggles#Katarina's done a lot of horrid things but she's desperately trying to make up for them#hustle hustle hustle!#my poor baby doesn't have a big harem that she personally helped to rely on#like Alan and Keith (Keith especially) are such DIFFERENT people!#Alan Nicol and Sophia hardly appear#and only Geordo (and maybe Mary and Maria) seem to actually be lovestruck and that isn't until towards the end#this means that lots of the characters also act differently with each other!#Keith and Geordo don't have a rivalry and it's more of like a “Keep her safe will you?”#we get more insight into Maria being all insecure and don't see her mother at all#because even if Katarina still wanted to see how real fields looked#she wouldn't have any reason to go to Maria's hometown if she feels like she's made Maria suffer so heavily!#which makes sense#I adore that there's more focus on sword fighting too!#also Sienna is the sweetest baby ever! it's a shame that she doesn't appear at all in canon but it makes sense#anyway! yes! This might be a dumb question, please don't throw rocks at me, but is there a novel similar to TCF, ORV and TSTIR but the MC is female instead?
I guess the criteria is: epic fantasy-action, loveable self-sacrificial but cunning and unhinged MC loved by everyone, very little to no romance and of course misunderstanding trope sprinkled in.
There are cool and badass female characters in each of the works I mentioned above but I would like an older woman protagonist (who also acts her age and because we need more older women in webnovels) who fucks thing up in the name of money and peaceful retirement BUT is also caring and kind to their close ones.
The closest example I have come is Katarina Claes but her franchise is more slice-of-life and romance (yah for the bisexual harem though).
Another friend of mine recommend Roxanna from Protecting The Female Lead's Older Brother but I haven't read it and so far, the romance content seems heavy. Still, i would try it once I have free time. For the gorgeous art mostly.
So if any kind souls here have any particular novels that fit these criterias, don't hesitate to let know. Or if it's a niche works that you have been itching to let loose that fit 3/4 or half of the criterias, I would not mind.
EDIT 12/6/2024: I'm flooded and thankful for the replies, which is more than I expected but for now, my list is pretty long and I don't want to overwhelm the chat so, if there are no response, just know that I'm checking when I can. Thanks again for all the good samaritans ❤️

Jaune doesn't have a harem, but if he did have a harem, it'd be more in the Katarina Claes (My Next Life as a Villainess) way, instead of ... Literally anyone else. Maybe, If we REALLY push it, Kimihito Kurusu (Monster Musume) could cut it, but that's a bit much.
Like genuinely the two option are;
Harem Members: I love him with all my heart. I don't care what happenes in the end so long as he;s happy, but I won't stop fighting for his heart no matter what!
Jaune, Obliviously: I love my Friends :)
~Or~
Harem Members: Jaune, I'm going to Fuck you.
Jaune, having once promised his Dad he'd wait until he was thirty to have kids: *Scaroused* Hah Ha! that's a Funny Joke!
That's the only way it works. That's the only way I accept a harem for anyone, especially Jaune.

Hello maboroshi . good evening . Thank you very much for the translations of Hamefura.I was wondering, is it possible to add Aaqil to the next major novel? And who do you think are the suspects in the main story? (Except Sarah and Marquis) (Sorry for the typo error, it's not my first language.) Sincerely.
Hello anon,
If you're asking whether the author might make Aaqil appear in the light novel, I would say it is possible since it was implied that Aaqil and Katarina would meet again. Though, I don't think Aaqil will appear soon. Fortune Lover 2 is still in progress and I think making Aaqil appear would add complexity since it would not be "the world of Fortune Lover" anymore but the "the world of the game's company otome games". So I think Aaqil would appear again only when the Fortune Lover 2 arc would be over.
But at the same time, I would love if Aaqil appeared again in next volume, since it would mean that Aaqil and Cezar would meet. I want to see these two compete for "the foreign prince" title of the harem 😋.
As for your other question, are you asking who I suspect to be in the organization?
I think Sarah's master is Sora's father figure. Hector Delius might also be part of the organization since he seemed very suspicious and interested in Pochi. I don't think Uncle Stuart and the downager queen are part of it, I think they are a different group. I suspect Nathan to be Uncle Stuart. As for Laura, she looks a lot like Marquis Dieke, but I don't think she is part of the organization. She might be in Uncle Stuart group.

Hi! What do you think about that moment in LN 9 of My Next Life as a Villainess where Catarina considers staying in Ocean Harbor Town if Maria did?
This one:
Tumblr media
As a Marikata shipper I was really happy at first because it meant that Catarina wanted to stay at Maria's side as much as Maria wanted to stay at hers. However I also think it was a mistake. Both in the sense that the author accidentally added something that implies Catarina values being close to Maria more than the rest of her loved ones, which clearly isn't his intention considering the rest of his writing, and in the sense that it makes Catarina have a very glaring case of favoritism that doesn't really suit her.
She has known the rest of her friends plus Anne and Keith for a decade (and her parents for all her life considering she's the OG Catarina who got extra memories at 8 and diverged paths) while she's only known Maria for 3 years at that point. Even with romantic feelings it seems a little unbelievable that there wouldn't be a "but my family and other friends".
Part of me wonders if it's meant to represent the usual part of graduating and being an adult? (which would be kinda sad but that's something I could get behind) Like, she already sees her early friend group way less since she got her job so she's used to them not being there as much and leaving the parents' house is seen as the norm in many cultures too. Also there's the fact of finding something she could do instead of being a noble which, aside from the great quantity sweets, doesn't appeal to her. Besides she'd be following someone she really likes, which, also something people usually do.
So uh, what do you think?
I think that while you can chalk some of it up to her blatant infatuation with Maria and the general idea of moving out when one grows up that she'd get more of from her past life than her current life, it can be chalked up a bit more to the fact that Katarina has spent the ten years she's known everyone else wondering which of them is going to be the one that leads to her death/banishment.
While we don't know how much, there is a part of Katarina that definitely hasn't fully let go of the thought that those she loves could one day wish to be rid of her. Even with the confessions of certain members of the harem, Katarina doesn't have that full faith in them.
Maria, in contrast, aside from being her "waifu," is someone who she knows likes her, even if she doesn't understand the nature of that manner of care. Maria in the game is also not the one directly responsible for what happens to Katarina in the original game's endings. Maria is safe to her eyes. Sophia and Mary are tied to Nicol and Alan, and we can safely assume that the characters are tied to the trial scene, given that she didn't seem surprised to see them at the trial. Maria refusing to condemn her there, even more than the others standing up for her, probably had way more pull to her than the others.
Now, let's consider the testimonies in the trial, themselves. There are exactly two members of the original game cast harem that don't call her an idiot in that scene. To his credit, Geordo is one of them. Even Sophia, with whom Katarina regularly holds book clubs, and Mary, who Katarina discusses gardening tips with, both directly state that she is not smart enough to bully Maria. In a move that makes me think he actually could be a good king, Geordo, however, legitimately reviews the "evidence" the other girls had and notes that it's circumstantial at best. He does not, however, say anything about Katarina as a person.
In contrast, Maria is the only person to note upon Katarina as a person being too kind to do such a thing.
Despite her inability to notice people are in love with her, Katarina is, in point of fact, extraordinarily observant of people. The author does seem to have lessened her ability to plot to an extent, but that particular aspect is very much still a part of her, as shown by the fact that she knew that Larna Smith and Suzanna Randall were the same person despite how masterful Suzanna is at disguise. Notably, however, she can misinterpret things if she's looking at it through her lens of "I am a villainess." For example, the aforementioned obliviousness when it comes to her romantic prospects.
Katarina also has a significantly better memory than the most tend to give her credit for.
From all of this, while she can accept that her friends care for her, to her eyes, she is still The Villainess Katarina Claes, and they clearly don't think that highly of her if they think she's just too stupid to bully Maria. Combine that with how her mother will chastise her for not being ladylike and critiquing her actions, something born from love but something that clearly distresses Katarina and makes her feel that she's less than worthy of her lot in life.
In essence, Katarina sees everyone who has been around her for ten years as viewing her as stupid and her mother as loving her, but not particularly liking her. She might have experienced the confessions of Keith and Geordo, but those are simply things that happened (the Keith confession is a completely different, disgusting can of worms), and there's almost definitely a part of her that still hasn't accepted that they won't discard her. Contrast that with how she immediately starts listing people that she feels would be sad if Maria was gone.
Simply put, Katarina views herself as someone who could pull up her stakes and go with next to no fuss from most of the people in her life. With that in mind, of course she'd be willing to uproot her whole life to be with Maria, whose first thought about her in that defining moment of their lives was to call her kind, who is willing to fight dark mages for Katarina's sake despite her fear, who was willing to tutor her and wanted to join the Ministry to be by her side.
Why wouldn't Katarina be willing to run away with the girl who unequivocally told her that she wants her in her life forever?

I think there’s a remarkable way in which the isekai doomed villain aspects of my next life as a villainess and the bisexual harem aspects gel together to create a metaphor for queer childhood. to me the most interesting way to view katerina is as a girl who is convinced from a young age that people around her are eventually going to subject her to a fate beyond her control and she’s going to be cast out, and this colors her entire perception of the world around her.
it feels very gay experience (though ofc not universal) to be like i have to overcorrect for the fact that one day everyone is going to hate me and exile me for something i can't help through being so kind and helpful to them.  i have to heal everyone around me.  or i will DIE.  they will KILL ME. i need to make myself essential to the people around me because something is inherently wrong with me that only i know about.  and then of course she self-conceives what is in large part her earnest desire to help the people around her as like "i am masterminding a dastardly plan to change my fate"  (read: feelings of duplicity and monstrousness as a gay child).
i also think there’s a way in which her revelation of her past life’s memories could have given her an uncomfortable or even predatory power over the people around her but it does not.  instead she reads very much as a child but like a child with an adult's sense of responsibility for the other children around her (in a world with horrible real adults)?  + mildly related point on the game mechanics aspect, i also like how neatly katerina’s backstory solves for some of her oblivious and quirky tendencies.  like of course she doesn’t think her friends are in love with her, she’s worried about them killing her.
anyway, on katarina/maria: it’s also soooo interesting that everyone is in love with her by the time she meets maria and the possibility she is going to be the "villain" who "dies" is 0 but she just doesn't know it.  but she meets her and is like she is so beautiful and charming and cool, that's why i'm so sure to meet an evil fate. . it’s so on the nose for like, the evil anvil that is going to fall on me which is proof that i’m doomed. . . is how wonderful and captivating this other girl is!  because of course it is, the crux of the issue is gay childhood.  [astronaut meme] “wait it was all about gay feelings?” “always has been”

My actual take about Geordo is that he's both a fascinating and compelling character and someone who shouldn't be within a 2km radius from Katarina as he is, and the issues I have with the way he behaves toward her are more of a genre-wide issue than a character one. Yes, it's common-place to have a character with possessive traits bordering on yandere tendencies, and it makes sense that out of everyone in the harem it's him who gets to act like he owns her, but hear me out: the whole thing's bad actually. The romantization of his actions works to the detriment of both Geordo as a character and GeoKata as a ship, and that's why I will not be okay with them being endgame for as long as he keeps obnoxiously flaunting the Fiancé card.
Broadly, I don't like how his possessiveness and absolute power over their engagement meld into a pretty horrible version of this yandere-adjacent archetype. But that's because I don't like harem tropes lmao if it weren't depicted as "his own way of loving her" and was instead explored for what it is (an unhealthy dynamic that has potential to either grow into something good or crash and burn horribly) then I would have absolutely no issues with it

Minor My Next Life as A Villainess spoiler (in that it vaguely notes something that is said at a certain point in volume one of the manga, and it's something that's probably obvious to most people):
While reading the manga, it took me 180 pages to realize Katarina was developing a harem.
Someone had to blatantly use the word "rivals" for it to sink in.
Romantic density is something Katarina and I might have in common, it turns out.
