This is a sliver of the song “Set Fire to the Hive” by Karnivool. It’s not anywhere close to perfect but I’ve been working on this track for ages.

After years of practicing this song I finally figured out the transition between the first beat and the second beat. It might not sound like much but it’s harder than it sounds because of the tricky way the timing changes, transitioning on the off-beat as if you’re adding half of a beat in between both patterns. It’s weird as hell but I can’t believe I finally pulled it off.

For the first time since moving to Montreal I finally have a jam space close enough to my apartment that I can realistically practice on an almost daily basis. I have missed this for so long. Time to get those chops back to where they ought to be.

Today, I listened to SOUND AWAKE, the second studio album by Australian rock band #Karnivool, released on June 5th, 2009.

Given it's Oz music month I decided to take some inspiration from @softest-punk and wear oz band shirt to the rink.

The first two shirts were Caligula's horse and sleep makes waves.

Today's was karnivool.

Today's lesson, although short, was good. The only bad thing was the my cursed loop jump. Everything else seems to be improving. Chris thinks I should compete. Got some nice compliments from some random recreational skaters. Now watching a friend do their test skate. So its been a nice day at the rink.
