We can all have missed him while admitting that it made sense.

Q. I'm annoyed at myself for being annoyed at the lack of Eddie 😂

A. While I'm still very confused as to why Karla didn't receive a co-directing credit for 8x13 they clearly cut his scenes from this episode and made them into a stand alone episode for Invisible, and after watching the episode it was absolutely the right thing to do. Cutting away from the contagion stuff to Texas stuff would have obliterated the pacing of this episode (I do love that they still had Buck work in an Eddie reference though). This was the unfortunate consequence of Tim wasting so much screen time in the first half of the season on Brad nonsense. I will forever be annoyed at the Brad crap (no offense to Callum he seems lovely). I understand they had to work around Gavin's availability but kids disappear into the 'kiddie cubbard' all the time on television. He didn't need to leave the state. They could have handled the entire thing better, but I'm not going to spend too much time harping on it because this episode was amazing. And the Eddie/Christopher stuff of the last episode was lovely and deserved to exist as it's own thing and not be second fiddle to the contagion storyline. For that reason I'm actually very happy they gave them their own room to breathe for an episode. And I think Eddie will be in episode 15 and the remaining episodes, so while I'm sad we didn't get to see army medic Eddie in action (😔), it made sense from a pacing standpoint.

Yeah, it was a great episode I agree. I also agree that any Eddie & Chris scenes wouldn't have fit into this episode at all. So I am happy they gave Eddie his own storyline in the previous episodes.

But I stand by the opinion that they should have kept this story-idea for the season 9 opener. Then they could have had all of their main actors and characters there and it would have made a greater impact. Especially with Eddie's skills.

I don't know. I just really miss Eddie in the 118 to be honest. It's like Ali said and I talked about it in my previous posts as well, the Vertigo plot was just not a good idea and it created so many problems for season 8 when it comes to Eddie's character.

But alas, it is what it is. I enjoyed the episode and I'm looking forward to 8x15. They can't leave a main character like Eddie out of three episodes in one season, so I'm sure he'll be there in some capacity. Let's see what they have in store for us.

This article about Dead Boy Detectives and Netflix's stewardship of LGBTQ+ shows is my Roman Empire

I'm linking the article below, and it's one of the best analysis' out there about both the significance of Dead Boy Detectives' being cancelled, but also the bigger picture of why this is so significant to both fans and the LGBTQ+ community at large. "Netflix has long tried to market itself to audiences just like this as an alternative to more traditional media companies. Yet its cancellation of Dead Boy Detectives is another in a long line of queer shows and shows with queer storylines – such as Sense8, Julie and the Phantoms, and Shadow and Bone – to be axed by the company before their time.

The showrunner of Warrior Nun, another of Netflix’s prematurely cancelled shows, even revealed that Netflix pushed back against the writers developing a queer romance for the show’s second season.

Meanwhile, the streaming service continues to platform performers such as Dave Chappelle, who used his latest Netflix special (his seventh on the streaming service) to double down on jokes made about the queer community, particularly targeting transgender folk.

It seems, then, that companies such as Netflix are still largely only interested in token queer representation, and only if and when it aligns with ever-shifting profit goalposts."

She goes on to talk about the crew and fans rallying around Dead Boy Detectives and taking a grassroots approach to save this show. She links IG and Twitter posts (it'll always be Twitter, to me), and she includes The Petition in her article.

She also accurately addresses the NG elephant in the room, pointing to his limited involvement in the show and how Dead Boy Detective fans have "resolutely condemned his alleged actions and stood with the women speaking out against him. Their outrage perfectly aligns with the core lessons of the show, which counters harmful gendered stereotypes and advocates for men to take responsibility for their actions, hold one another accountable, process anger, and open up to feelings like love and empathy."

She concludes, and I must admit, this brought a tear to my jaded 'lil heart, that "[t]hrough its community-building, energy, and activism, the fanbase is proving to be the living embodiment of the lessons Dead Boy Detectives has to teach us about solidarity, love and care."

So, go us. Keep at it. Don't loose hope. And please check out this article. I gave you a sneak peak, but it's chalk full of really good information and I promise you'll be glad you read it.

I don't have that much interest in Kiora as a character but I cannot deny that this is a fine piece of pin-up art. The flavor text for this one reads, "My adopted children are loved no less." —Pharika, God of Affliction, so in addition to being an extremely pretty woman with curly black hair-which-is-also-snakes (already a great start), there's a trans metaphor going on here. Which is to say, one can by the grace of Pharika transition to gorgon, and then presumably have a whole lot of T4T gorgon sex. And if I can do all that and also call Pharika "Mommy" then I do think I'm living my best life at that point.

Ren and Seira both have SUCH amazing, memorable designs!! And every time u draw them they intrigue me more and more, could u tell a bit abt what they have going in between them? 👀

I already posted these here and have talked about Seira specifically before in case you haven't seen them but I love to talk more :)!

Their situation has some layers, it might feel a bit convoluted

It starts with Seira, previously named Aries, who was one of the 'Projects' which combined humans with Malum, creatures of shadow. He was patient zero and the blueprint for following projects trying to recreate what happened to him because it was incidental.

Taurren was one of the kids taken for projects at age 14. And he hated Aries. Aries was compliant with anything the researchers told him to do, was the one that gave Ren his food and tried to train him, and encouraged Ren to just follow orders because it's safer and easier. Ren hated him for being a coward and fought every step of the way until the day that Aries finally caved and broke Ren out of the facility. Even then, Ren was still upset at Aries because he was going back after letting Ren go, instead of them leaving together.

Another thing about Aries is that he wasn't just a human Nox mixed with Malum, his body was able to contain multiple Malum. That's something that couldn't be replicated with the other subjects. In an attempt to help Ren go back to a normal life, Aries experimentally ripped out part of Ren's Malum side. That caused Ren to calm but go unconscious. It also had the side effect of Ren forgetting what happened at the facility, and losing some cognitive ability because of how the project's process included fusion with the soul.

Aries dropped Ren off as close to his hometown as he could before returning to the facility and never seeing Ren again. Probably.

It took several more years and more incidents with subjects and collateral that Aries couldn't take anymore and left. Seira tried to live a new life, wandering, and later stayed in the same city Ren used to live in, with a halfhearted reason of seeing if he was okay. Except he never worked up the willpower to properly search.

Ren meanwhile grew up barely remembering Aries and the projects, knowing something wasn't right, but his family never believed him. At the time he was living with his aunt and uncle but was moved home after the incident, then he moved back as an adult. His sister, Karla, always thought he had run away for attention and the subject was eventually dropped for good. He did manage to live a relatively normal life besides that. No knowledge of shadows and elemental powers but with moments of feeling a bit empty, and an ear out for any whispers of the paranormal.

It wasn't until Seira got his teaching job that he met with Ren again. One of his students, Kei (whose life Seira also kinda ruined but that's a different story), had befriended a local that kept asking too much about the mysterious private school outside of town. Kei, while not exposing the teaching of elemental powers part of the school, still could not consistently lie to save his life and volunteered his teacher to explain! The school staff would know what to do.

I sadly don't have up-to-date art on his reaction to it, but Seira did almost lose it at seeing Ren again. The only thing that helped him keep it together was just how different Ren was that maybe he wasn't the same kid from back then. He went through the school's cover story spiel but Ren had actually stopped paying attention to that because something about this guy was just. drawing him in (partial memories/his missing soul piece). Taurren had started asking after Seira more and his interest without context started turning into more of an infatuation. Seira meanwhile had started trying to subtly see Ren more as well (going to the same cafe, not subtle), which led to them talking more. There was a long time of a tentative one-sidedness to their friendship because of how long Seira wanted to keep him in the dark, but couldn't successfully find a reason to leave again.

This art specifically requires more context I'll sum up really quick

This is much after Seira returns Ren's soul piece and memory

Ren is no longer angry about Seira's cowardice because he hadn't known Seira had already been in the project years before him

Ren's infatuation becomes something more sincere

It's hard for Seira to know how he feels in return because of his guilt. He thinks Ren should still be mad at him but has stopped trying to push him away because Ren is still as stubborn as he was back then

This tiredness is from how much Seira's been trying to redeem himself and save others from the project ever since Taurren. This now extends to his students. He can't and couldn't save everyone

I finished No Coincidence and I have some THOUGHTSS

GODDDD.... What a book man fhjfg

Gotta say, the start was a bit slow? To me at least. I wasn't too interested in the individual characters, who I thought were another group of gonks like Edgerunners

At one point, I did not want to even continue; the romances between Ron and Melina, and Zor and Aya felt forced, "he's a boy she's a girl" kind of deal. "They're around each others so of course they fuck"

A lot of moments around Melina and Aya were focused on their physics, how sexy they were and how the men were attracted to them; they made it a force and used it to their advantages of course, but this felt like I was reading an old book, yknow?

Aya being the poor girl forced to sell her body to live, and Melina being the sexy corpo doing everything to stay young. It's like, aren't we past those tropes for female characters in 2024 deadass??

They eventually grew on me as we dived more in the story, they got way more interesting once the book stopped focusing on how the men felt around them; when the book stopped using the two female characters as tools to move the male characters backstories and trauma

(making it clear its nothing against Milena and Aya, as I said I really liked them and the main gang in general, just a bit of eeeh heteronormative writing, boring to me)

Once the romance "build up" was over, I really got into the story and the characters; the dynamic between the group was interesting 👁👄👁 You can tell there's more to it all, you can tell it's No coincidence if they're together

Even if you can sniff the twist coming, they still hit HARD AND GOOD, made me look away from the book with an audible Oooooooh multiple times

I did not expect Albert to be present throughout the whole book, but I loved the deep dive into the netrunning word and the cyberspace in general oof... made my brain goes bbrrrbbrrrrrr it's so good 👁👄👁 without getting too spoilery, Albert's storyline was probably my favorite; that finale is insane, got me on edge, both fascinated and terrified

ANOTHER THING I LOVED. Seeing familiar faces! I loved to see Pepe, Dum Dum, and hear about Royce. Dum Dum actually have a big place in the book, which was fun!

We also get to see Dum Dum friends, or should I say Dum Dum's partners? I really doubt they'd categorize their relationship, but that trio obviously love each others in the most *Maelstromish* way

Karla and Dixie were fun characters, adding new flavors to what we already knew and saw of the Maelstromer gang 🤌

Talking about gangs, we also get to meet with Animals, who have actual animal features in the book compared to the game! Tusks, fangs and whiskers, with actual animal head even 👁👁 wish we had that in game

Knowing everything I know, I might want to revisit it again in the future 👀 cause its def a book you wanna re read once you get all the keys AAHHH

HALLOW-LEE-N movie review Oct 16th : the Gorgon

Cushing is back! And in an interesting switch of their usual roles, he is the bad guy to Lee's good guy. He makes a great creep half mad with obsessive love.

This is a monster hunting movie, and the only horror I know to use the myth of the Gorgon, despite its great horror potential. Imagine something that kills you just by looking at it, that's creepy as fuck. And this movie shows it well.

We start with a dude called Bruno trying to evade his responsabilities towards the girl he got pregnant. They both run into the German forest at night and the next day, are found dead. Bruno hanged himself, and the girl has turned to stone.

The village authorities are eager to pin it as a murder-suicide and not link it to 7 unexplainable statuesque deaths that have occurred over the last 5 years. Bruno's father, who has come all the way from Leipzig, calls bullshit and tries to investigate. The town clearly does not want him to, because they are terrified.

Bruno's dad then commits an unforgivable horror movie blunder and goes to investigate the creepy castle alone at night. He catches a glance of the Gorgon Maegara but manages to run back home and write to his other son Paul before his transformation to stone is complete.

Paul then comes to the village and tries to find out more from Dr Namaroff (Cushing) who feigns ignorance and basically tells him to fuck off. Paul investigates more carefully Than his father, and thus only sees Maegara's reflection in the water. This makes him very ill and he needs to be nursed by Namaroff and his assistant Karla.

Karla confirms that Maegara is real and she is starting to think that Namaroff is acting suspicious. He's in love with her, see, and super possessive and having her watched at all tiens by a guy totally willing to attempt murder on Paul when it starts looking like romance.

What's more, Maegara can only be present by possessing a human woman. This means someone in the village.

But what's that? It's CHRISTOPHER LEE TO THE RESCUE!!

More specifically, it's Professor Meister, Paul's friend and teacher who is worried about him. Through the power of intimidating the cops and breaking into hospitals to look through their files, he pieces together what is happening at 5x the speed of the other characters.

He suspects Karla is the one being possessed, at which Paul flips bc how dare he, such a beautiful and innocent young woman. He runs after Karla on the night of the full moon, forcing Meister to evade the cops through a window and run after him. In the creepy castle, Namaroff and Paul duel epically, only to be both killed by Maegara. In the end, Maegara is still killed by CHRISTOPHER LEE WITH A SWORD!!!

Admin note: Due to the absolute trouble my mind is putting me through, Day 7 will be a LONG read due to the multiple (but fun and interesting) processes I've had to go through to get the juices to flow. And... OMG there is no prompt for Day 7!

Well, there is/was one pre-determined, but with poor Terra being tossed here, there and everywhere during the week, Dinh-Yu said to make Day 7 all about him [Terra]... With the centre of it being OC related of course. And looking back in a sense, the connections with Riku have actually already been touched on during various previous days.

So re. Terra and whichever OCs we intertwine, here goes:

SECTION 1A: Prompt / Eraqus

This is an extension of Dinh Yu's Day 7 prompt, and to let you guys in on the fact that someone (don't know who) called 'the cavalry'. The reason Master Eraqus is now considered powerful is because he has now passed on in my timeline, due to the assumption of KH3's ending.

Why do I also include this tidbit of exposure? There was apparently a Day 6 prompt called journal. The way my journal works? It's a magic journal. So not only can I write in it, but others can choose to direct their communication into it if they wish. All they have to do is feel in their heart/mind what they want to say to me, and the journal will magically transcribe their words into it, waiting for me to open it and read it, and even respond in kind. It's basically like Email, but through a book and a person's thoughts, instead of the PC and actively typing both ways.

They envision in their minds; their message writes itself into my book [A to B].

I write back in my book, it gets translated into a thought in that person/s head[B to A]:

~9:10 PM (AEST)

Master Eraqus: “Karla… I know you might be uncomfortable with me, and even if so, we may have never spoken before. I apologise for any preconceived notions I may have given to you through my previous actions to Terra, Aqua and Ventus. But if you can allow me to assist you. As you know from 2022 onwards, I have allowed and I even encourage Terra to walk by your side to atone for the immeasurable pain and suffering that I have caused him and his friends… I think they need you to finish what I started, even though you offer a different relationship, not so much their teacher in the realm of light. While Ven was being checked for bad energies [mind blockage/poison], I quickly had a word into the ear of your newest dream guide, Young Cricket, or as you otherwise call him, Dinh Yu. I have been let in on the fact that he is leading you for KH-OC Week, but not even he can seem to navigate you past this energetic block that seems to be tormenting you with regards to Terra. I have asked Dinh Yu to hand his spot over to me for just a short while, and I will guide you where you have always meant to go for Day 7… As Terra’s teacher and someone who now knows him well [after Xehanort]. Dinh-Yu will be back in the driver’s seat at the end to check your balances with you and sign you off.

So first of all, I see you’ve already put up a pre-commissioned artwork of Terra. Continue to discuss the meaning of that and why you got it done. When Terra was your strongest bridge, what is it that made the Land of Departure feel like home to you? Was it the land itself, or was it Terra’s stewardship? When you’re with Terra alone, how does he make you feel? I have come to understand that you didn’t want to wield a keyblade, but when Terra got involved, the very little keyblade knowledge you gained suddenly expanded greatly. Was it the love between you and Terra that made Riku capitulate from his initial arrogance and annoyance?

I come to hear that you’ve in-fact done numerous artworks of you and Terra in the last year. Share those as well. Not so much as descriptions, or you’ll leave them with a strenuous encyclopaedia. But just a gallery of your art if you will and a sentence or two about those works if you must.

I’m now looking at your Day 5 post in the data, and I see you’ve mentioned Neverland as a favorite spot that you liked to go to with Terra. Maybe now is the time to explain why if you wanted to. Again I don’t recommend you follow on all of my ideas if it makes your work unsuitably long, but I am simply cramming in all these ideas so that this severe energy blockage you seem to have undergone in the past few days can’t disable you anymore. I wish you the best of luck, and please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you need any further help.

And wait! Just one more thing before I go or at least take the passenger’s seat. Say you were out of all energy impairments. You can still address the official Day 7 prompt if you wanted to envision any future scenarios with Terra… But that one may be difficult in your current state. Good luck”.

I knew I wanted an artwork with Terra at the time, but I'm not very good at being organised when asking for commissions 😅 So I thought fast and asked for a drawing at the Land of Departure as we did stargazing...

~9:55 PM (AEST):

Sierra: “She’s going to fail the test!”.

Selvian: “Eraqus has given her the prompts. She just now needs to do them”.

Dinh-Yu: “Ahhhhh”.

Selvian: “Relief huh?”.

Dinh-Yu: “Yes. Such a relief. Has she had that bad a blockage before?”.

Selvian: “They come and they go. But that’s the first one you’ve had to deal with. She’s had the doggie not let go of Riku before, and now it’s trying the same thing on Terra”.

Sierra: “Did Ventus get captured because he was trying to help Terra?”.

Selvian: “Yes, sadly”.

Krystal: “I’ve gotten Ven to help out!”.

Selvian: “You have?”.

Krystal: “He’s feeding her thoughts on the Land of Departure, and Cricket’s [Dinh-Yu's] transcribing them into a document and sending them to her journal”.

Selvian: “Thank the Lord in Heaven”.

~10:00 PM - 12:15 AM (AEST)

Ventus:

“The stargazing, she loved it so much. She tried to pretend she didn’t when Aqua and I were around. But when she was alone with Terra and we had a peak, it was something different. I find it amazing how Terra always got answers out of her that none of the other guardians would ever get. I think it’s because Terra never pushed, and not once did he ever betray her trust by spilling things to other people, at least not without asking her permission first.

So even though SHE thought she was rushing to choose something for a commission, I think she was meant to be shown stargazing with Terra there. I notice the artist put their keyblades in the background. She didn’t want or think she’d be getting them in the image to begin with, but then something spoke to her when they WERE included. She had just finished training with Terra, and that was always an also unique experience in itself. Karla seemed to feel this sense of obligation when training with other guardians, but Terra always slipped her into it in the most subtle ways, and he made it fun for her… Y’know, that feeling of having a job but never working a day in your life.

I’m just getting this abstract thought. So I want to address it while I have it. Terra was originally meant as a distraction for Karla, at least that’s what he came for. We all didn’t know what was up when she asked for Riku in May 2020, and as someone who watched over Riku as it were, Terra had genuine concerns. But you know Terra, he’s not one to be mean to anyone, so he simply tried to divert Karla’s attention but she was one smart cookie. And then as Terra was trying to help Riku, he decided to help her too. Y’know? Starting out as one thing but then diverging into another? Terra wasn’t even Karla’s dream guide to begin with, but he just felt this sudden compassion and need to work her out, like there was more to her than meets the eye.

I guess Terra wedging himself into her life did work out as she needed him in late 2021. Like… As in because he made an effort to connect with her and know her, she knew he was the next best option to add to Riku. But I digress.

Back to keyblade training. Again, what Karla thought was a chore, Terra made it seamless for her. And the way he taught her, I’ve never seen him be so as accommodating to anyone as he was to her. Like his method was brute strength and hard hits, but he knew that he was the only one she’d train with, so Terra made it a point to control his power around her. And like Terra made it his business to watch and learn Aqua’s style so that he could teach that to Karla. With Aqua’s style but Karla’s own magic added, she became a powerhouse and even shocked Terra. But where Terra eventually got her is sometimes she’d spend too long manifesting a spiritual or cosmically powered spell to support her attack, and then Terra would smack her from behind and tell her she’s gotta take the rose-coloured glasses off when reality comes flying at her all of a sudden. I think that’s why her mind isolated her only to Riku these days… Because he’s more head on. So I think it’s about the need for her to find a middle ground and then she’ll be able to keep them both.

Let’s see now. I addressed the art and stargazing, which then led to keyblade training. Oh! I should tell you that Mahna Templestowe is not the first keyblade she manifested. Because like I said, she has universal manifestation and other psychic powers, so with it, the first keyblade she manifested was a clone of Terra’s and we were all shocked. But it just went to show how much Terra meant to her, and I remember a tear falling out of his eye when he saw that keyblade. I heard she got Mahna Templestowe later down the track when her keyblade use became more regular, and at the time, she was doing something with Riku or Terra in the realm of darkness. When she was put on her own to save one of them, rather than relying on them, that’s where she got her ‘personality’ so to speak.

Now I’ve been told that the master suggested talking about why she likes going to Neverland with Terra. I don’t really know the answer, as that’s between her and him. And… Cricket! Don’t peer into her dream journal! That’s an invasion of privacy! Well… I guess we’ve got answers now. So they would always sit on a rock and look out to the sea as Terra held her. They didn’t talk as much in Neverland; that was more just a tranquil moment together, or more recreation as it were. I think as she felt the Land of Departure was her base point, that’s where she’d find herself if she needed to have a really important conversation with Terra. Like she’d seek out his home and he’d give it to her in a sense. In summary, the she’d travel with Terra to all these BBS worlds and each one had a unique feel for a different activity, but the Land of Departure was at the heart of it all, and basically what she associates Terra with.

I’m really sad that Karla’s mind (energy levels) started to attack her in regards to Terra and tried to prevent her from finishing OC Week, but my teddy friend Krystal stayed with me in customs, and she actually managed to talk me out of the astral lock I was put into. So as Terra’s friend and someone who really loves Karla, I’m doing my part to save the day and I’ve been asked by Selvian and Cricket to contribute to her story ❤️"

Krystal running in with Ventus goes to show that the teddies have a mind of their own. Just like I didn't know Sibella wasn't right for Terra, I didn't know Krystal remained with Ventus. I assigned Krystal to Ventus at one point, but never heard from her since. Then when Selvian brought Ventus to 'customs' to try and help me with my severe mind blockages, Krystal came with him! So those two have had a good friendship. And now come to think of it... I have envisioned her doing things with Ventus in the LoD from time to time 🤔

Thank you to the mods of KH-OC Week itself; for making everyone feel welcome and putting on a successful event (it's still here in 2024 😶). I've loved seeing everyone else's works and where they come from. I think we all deserve to have an inheritance [individual timelines] in KH, hence why I link the user to the OC. Including how I bridge myself.

As much as I have hilariously complained because my mind has been pushing exhaustion on me (and didn't like Terra 🥲) , increasingly leading up to Day 7. Here are some of the benefits that I have received from KH-OC Week 2024, as opposed to if I didn't participate:

It has reminded me to check my lore and restabilise my bridge with Kingdom Hearts.

Terra probably would have remained at the depths of limbo without this event. My mind throwing a tantrum was a good thing IMO because now I know what steps to take to get him back FULLY. Even if it takes more than just a week. KH-OC Week (and Dinh-Yu's unique prompts and instruction) pushed me into awareness and progress. I honestly think Dinh-Yu knew Terra was in trouble beforehand; he's cluey like that.

I would have never discovered that someone wasn't suitable for Terra. We have now introduced someone that he'll have a much better relationship with.

Sierra got to spend time with her sister. And as Erika is an ESFJ, she actually forged connections with some of the Kingdom Hearts members.

We have evidence and a stern commitment from Riku that he isn't the grouch we met back in 2020. His loyalty to us is unwavering, and it even bleeds down to the bears. He is personally thanking Dinh-Yu for doing KH-OC Week with me.

Whenever OC Week happens, new lore just pops up out of nowhere, which is why the Days can change so suddenly from their initial plan.

Admin Edit: I just looked at my clock upon finishing and it says 1:23! The subliminal msg I got when looking at the clock was that despite all the mental battle, KH-OC Week has indeed finished on a positive and strong note.

We meet again, Bohol!

As beautiful as the Philippines is, many destinations offer mostly sand and surf. But not Bohol. This province is known for unique attractions that you can’t find anywhere else in the Philippines.

Sure, other islands in the Philippines are worth recommending, too, but most boast one or two of the following — white beaches, incredible sites, diverse wildlife, interesting history. Bohol has them all. From wild encounters with dolphins and tarsiers to the incomparable views of the Chocolate Hills, Bohol is a province that is easy to promote. It doesn’t need much sales talk.

We stayed at Coastal View in Panglao, then we transferred to On Board Beach Hostel and Resort for some quiet alone time near the beach. The wedding was at South Palms Resort, and I can attest that this is probably the most exquisite hotel here, next to Bohol Beach Club.

I was tasked with the daunting task of speaking in front of everyone. I wasn't really prepared to cry, so I let the "funny" me take over. Let me share to you guys my speech during the wedding.

Nung nasa adventurous era pa kami, ang bonding namin ay umakyat ng bundok. Nagbuwis buhay trip kami sa Mt. pamitinan, tapos nagpapicture sa crater ng Taal, nakiparty sa Malasimbo sa Puerto Galera with hindi namin kilala, nagbackpacking kami 8 days sa Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand na natutulog sa bus dala bagahe, kumain ng scorpion at tarantula, kumain ng happy pizza, nagtemple hopping sa Angkor Wat at sa mga temples sa Thailand, tapos nag 8 days din kami sa Bali, Indonesia ewan ko din paano namin napupull off pero napakadami naming pinupuntahan tapos wala ako sa organizing committee so ang ambag ko talaga ay chumika at magpicture. Haha.

pero sa mga local travel namin, dalawa yung pinaka favorite ko: yung 1) Siargao at yung 2) South cotabato. Yung siargao kasi grabe talaga yun gabi-gabi kami lasing as in tumatakbo kami nina karla sa kalsada tapos hinahabol kami nina brux. Haha. Dun ko din naranasan maghanap ng GoPro sa dagat ng nakaflashlight lang kasi nalaglag nung nagsurfing kami. Grabe talaga yun. Nung South Cotabato naman, natry namin yung highest zipline in the South East Asia, may nadaanan kaming apat na waterfalls ganun kataas. Tapos ang dami naming change costume nag T'boli traditional costume kami, tapos nag abaya and hijab kami nung pumunta kaming Grand Mosque. Very dubai ganon. Haha.

Favorite memory ko sa kanila ay every travel namin, nagsusulatan sila ng postcards. Sabi ko grabe couple goals. Indeed a matchmake in heaven walang distance distance. They will really make way to communicate, and show their love for each other. The yin to each other's yang.

As in kung may masasabi akong couple na tested by time and distance ay sila talaga iyon. ❔answering questions: - which club did you pick? I picked the gardening club, because even though in real life I cannot take care of a plant for the life of me (i've tried) i'm even less... skilled, in sports lol. Don't get me wrong I think both things are fun but it's just not my thing.

headcanon time: My Candy signed up for the gardening club, befriended Jade (and had a crush on him at the start of the year) and because she was more a danger than anything in the garden (shenanigans ensue) , she ended up switching clubs, then became representative of her class (I imagine the high school has a lot of students, she's from a different section than the other characters on the first year.) and that's how she ended up befriending Melody and Nath. In the second year, Jade switches schools :c he was one of her best friends there.

Like, objectively we may feel more inclined to say Rosa or Alexy, but that's because we know them really well. But then there's Iris best girl for example, Leigh is also really nice. It's tough man, but being honest, probably Amber because yes in HSL she was a BULLY I think, as a character, I really like her, she's compelling to me.

because I have had a lot of time to reflect on this, and now we have alternative life and everything, I think it doesn't hit me as much as it did when I saw the news the first time. Of course it's still sad, because reading all the amazing headcanons people have for these three LIs for that season really makes me wish they did something different but hey! I think the new routes weren't as bad as people make them to be, because they constantly like to compare the new v.s. the old routes and that's not the point. The point is for people to have fun, and i've seen fanarts, fanfics and blogs dedicated to Hyun, Rayan and Priya :D also, adding Priya as a love interest IN MY OPINION was a really nice choice, a lot of people liked her before and now being able to date her??? queen, just give me the ring.

-which one is your favorite episode?

I haven't played this season myself, but i've watched the playthrough of it on YT (planetsucrette te adoro) and honestly? episode 15 "Emotional Rollercoaster" HAS to be at least in my top three for this season, yes i'm a nathaniel girlie but idk, all the drama and the build up and the illu!!! ugh it's so good, I really enjoyed watching it and I cannot imagine finishing that episode and have to WAIT for the continuation!!! the intrigue!!!

Also Rosa's story reaaally pulled my heart strings, i'm going to be honest with you, and there's a scene where Candy has this memory box and there's a bunch of photos from High School, and there's one with them and Alexy and the way they narrate that part is just- is fantastic, I loved it a lot. I think it's on ep 11.

-is there something you don't like about this season?

uh... well, for the longest time, I didn't even wanted to know what it was about, mainly because my interest remained in HSL and the fact that 2/3 of my boys weren't even there was not motivation, at all. There's nothing at the top of my head that I have to critique in general. Maybe if I gave it a little bit more thought, but eh, not in the mood.

My Thoughts On Emilia Peréz, Karla Sofía Gascón and The Harm They Each Do To Mexican and Trans Communities (And Every Other Marginalized Community), As A Gender Non-Conforming Afro-Mexican Indigenous American:

(trigger warning: discussions of racism, racism and xenophobia towards African Americans, Asians, Latinos, Indigenous folks, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, classism, casteism, Islamophobia, Christophobia, anti Blackness, anti Asian racism, anti Mexican racism, anti Indigenous racism, antisemitism, H*tler apologism, cartel violence and transphobic hate crimes)

Before getting into my review of and thoughts on the recent Oscar nominated Netflix film Emilia Peréz, I just wanna state a disclaimer:

*Regardless of people's criticisms of the movie's poor Mexican representation and lack of input from Mexicans into the writing, directing, production, etc., saying that "none of the actresses are Mexican" is something I strongly disagree with when Selena Gomez is indeed Mexican American and a mixed race Mexican American, thus making people's claims extremely hypocritically inaccurate, offensive, incorrect and disrespectful, especially as an Afro-Mexican American; so that's not gonna be tolerated in any comments on this post.

Now that that's out of the way, I'll just jump straight into it: I'm gonna be totally frank and say that I initially bought into the hype of Emilia Perez, for a number of reasons: for starters, Selena Gomez was in it and I was rooting for her and Zoe Saldana (whom I admire as an actress) to win with this movie. Then, on paper, the story itself initially sounded very compelling and interesting and the promise of it taking artistic and creative risks of blending genres and the film being an amalgamation of drama, action, romance and musical alongside having Mexican, queer and trans representation was what also ultimately got me hyped to see it, and Karla Sofía Gascón being the first openly trans actress to be nominated for an Oscar in a lead role made it even more promising. And, to be even more honest, I initially loved the film when I watched it--heck, I watched it numerous times and even defended it from people whom I initially perceived were just being negative for the sake of being negative. When I was wearing hype fueled rose colored glasses, that is. Then I started to watch and listen to perspectives and level headed critcisms from people from the very communities that the movie claimed to represent but ended up poorly misrepresenting and offending--specifically, Mexican folks and trans folks, and Mexican trans folks especially, and overall filmmakers, writers, artists and storytellers that pointed out both the offensive stereotyping and misrepresentation of each marginalized community and the problematic faulty structure of the story, plot, characters, its handling of the musical aspect, etc., and afterwards I started to ease those rose colored glasses off and see and understand what everyone was saying. Then I found out about the director Jacques Audiard's condescending, racist and belitting comments about Mexico, Mexican people, Mexican culture and the Spanish language which, among everything else I mentioned, made me start to dislike the movie and further back away from supporting it.

Then the lead actress Karla Sofia Gascon's old racist, casteist, ableist, xenophobic, transphobic, homophobic, fatphobic, Islamophobic, Christophobic, anti Black, anti Asian, anti Mexican, anti Indigenous, antisemitic, white supremacist and Hitler/nazi apologist tweets got unearthed and exposed. After that, the movie immediately aged like a platter of seafood doused in milk and left to sit out in the sun inside of a hot car trunk on a 99 degrees summer day.

And now for me, especially as a believer in Christ and a mixed race Afro-Latina Mexican/Mexican Native American, Afro-Asian, Afro-Indigenous and Jewish, autistic, disabled, neurodivergent and gender non-conforming femme of color, the rose colored glasses are completely off and now I hate the movie entirely, and I think that it and Karla should be disqualified from winning anything. And Karla herself should have her Golden Globe award and her Oscar nominations rescinded and revoked, and she should also be permanently blacklisted from the movie industry and not ever have a career or any career opportunities ever again. Given the political climate the U.S. in currently in right now, extremist bigotry and discrimination of any kind and especially to that venomous degree that Karla displayed, should not be overlooked, excused or rewarded.

And as for Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldana, no hate towards either of them, but now in hindsight and retrospect, Zoe and Selena made a huge mistake choosing to do this movie and it'll probably result in a bigger staining on their reputation for a very long while (on Zoe's part as she's already polarizing in the Black community after she wore blackface in the shoddy film about Nina Simone and has now done a film that's now also offensive to Latinos too and Afro-Latinos in particular, and thus simultaneously offensive to monoracial African American women and Afro-Latinas especially*; and on Selena's part as she's also polarizing and controversial in the Latino community and this movie will further strain her public standing with and reputation amongst the Latino community).

(*Note: speaking of which, while it's important to call out the movie's reinforcing of harmful transphobia and transmisogyny and racist, xenophobic stereotypes of Mexico, Mexican people, language and culture and Mexican Americans, what critics and reviewers seem to be missing and not mentioning is how the film's treatment of Zoe Saldana's character Rita Castro, an Afro-Latina (Dominican) woman of color, feeds into problematic, harmful, racist and offensive stereotypes too: Rita, a Black Afro-Latina woman of color, is initially positioned to be the main character of the movie but then ends up getting side lined in her own story and reduced to being nothing more than Emilia Perez's token black sidekick or best friend whose own character and story arc regarding her background, career, love life and overall interior life is left unexplored and unresolved with no depth and no development at all--though even calling Rita the Token Black Female Best Friend would be a slight upgrade (still trite and icky nonetheless, but still), as she's not even treated as that and is rather relegated to being the errands woman constantly running after Emilia and either cleaning up and fixing her messes for her or getting dragged into the middle of Emilia's messes, and even more disturbingly, a punching bag who bares the brunt of Emilia's violence, threats and coercion before Emilia's transition, and is basically--and as much as I hate to say it but have to say it nonetheless to drive home the point of another harmful negative stereotype that the movie reinforces that others seem to miss or ignore--treated as and reduced to being the mule. And whatever scraps of a character and story arc the viewer does get of Rita is only framed within the lens of struggle, exhaustion, unhappiness, being left unackowledged, mistreated, abused, threatened, underappreciated and unappreciated, with no independent interior life, agency, autonomy or arc of her own, no love interest of her own and no personality of her own, reinforcing not only the black female sidekick/best friend and mule stereotypes but also the undesirable black female spinster stereotype, and further driven home by the film's ending when Rita is left to care for Emilia and Jessi's sons after Emilia, Jessi and Gustavo all die in a car accident, which also reduces Rita to the even more offensive maid/mammy stereotype. So Rita, an Afro-Latina female character, is reduced to all the classic anti black racist and misogynoir fueled stereotypes: the token sidekick/best friend, the mule, the maid, the figurative punching bag on which violence and coercion is enacted, the loveless undesirable spinster and the mammy. So this film is also guilty of also reinforcing and perpetuating anti black racism and anti black xenophobia and misogynoir towards Black women, whether monoracial African American women or Afro-Latina/Afro-Latina American women.

So since Mexican and Mexican American folks can watch this film and feel offended, disrespected and dehumanized, trans folks can watch this film and feel offended, disrespected and dehumanized, and since Mexican and Mexican American trans folks can watch this film and feel offended, disrespected and dehumanized, since Black folks--both monoracial African American folks and Afro-Latino/Afro-Latino American folks can watch this film and feel offended, disrespected and dehumanized, and since especially Black women, both monoracial African American women and Afro-Latina/Afro-Latina American women, particularly Afro-Mexican/Afro-Mexican American women can watch this film and feel offended, disrespected and dehumanized, then imagine how monoracial African American trans women, Afro-Latina/Afro-Latina American trans women, and Afro-Mexican/Afro-Mexican American trans women especially, can feel offended, disrespected and dehumanized by watching this movie (and more so considering that real life incidents of racial and gender based violence towards Black women, and especially racially targeted, gender based and transphobic violence and hate crimes towards African American and Afro-Latina/Afro-Latina trans women, are through the roof right now).

When Ben goes and gets Willo's flowers, the note is the thing he's most interested in. He rolls his eyes at Willo calling him mummy, despite the blush on his cheeks. Willo's wishing his favourite mummy a Happy mothers day. It's sweet and silly and it's Ben favourite bouquet.

Declan didn't know that he should do something for Kai to celebrate their first mother's day with Karla. An admission that causes kieran to smack the back of his head. Dec tries to claim he didn't know because its not like he's celebrated mother's day in years, earning another slap from kieran who says he never celebrated it with his mum (seeing as she left him at only a few weeks old) but that he still knew to celebrate Leo for their first mother's day. Declan asks for suggestions, suspecting if he gets it wrong not only will Kai be upset but he'll also get another slap on the back of his head from kieran which surprisingly hurt. WDBz suggest flowers, breakfast in bed and typical mother's day things. Declan does those, of course, but he also treats kai the best way way he knows how. With hot sex while karla naps.

Best Actress—I would've been really happy for Demi to win this. Mikey was the best part of Anora. But I'm not gonna lie, I'd like to see her play a character that isn't so brooooad. It was giving Margot Robbie in those Wolf of Wall Street/Suicide Squad type roles, which isn't bad, but it... typical for me.

I also think that the actress I would've given the award wasn't even nominated: Angelina Jolie. Cynthia was another one I would've given it to over Demi or Mikey.

Best Picture—Conclave was robbed, sorry! I'm gonna be honest, the more I think about (and rewatch) Anora, the more I read SW critiques, the less I like it. Conclave wasn't cutting edge, but it was beautiful, subtle, and gave great commentary on our times, tbh.

Best Actor—Adrien Brody is.... ridiculously overrated. I honestly haven't seen The Apprentice in full because that's Hard Right Now, but the scenes I've seen, even that clip... He was JARRINGLY good. But yeah, not gonna lie, this is a category I'm very undereducated on this year. I've heard Colman was more deserving; I still need to see Sing Sing. I trust that Colman was excellent because Colman was uniformly excellent. I haven't seen The Brutalist. I just find Adrien super scummy, sorry. Even The Brutalist lovers I know also weren't that hot on his performance over Guy's and Felicity's.

And the AI thing... I don't care how minor it is. I always go back to Meryl Streep, widely viewed as one of the greatest actors of all time (and rightly so). What is one of the things that makes her so distinctly amazing? Her accent work. Like, be so serious.

Best Supporting Actress—Zoe was not good. Like, I've gotta say, as awful as she is in real life (and as much as she wouldn't have deserved Best Actress either way) imo Karla was the best actress in that movie. I would've given this award to Ariana by a miiiiiile, and if not her, Isabella.

Best Adapted Screenplay—CONCLAVE YES GOOD

Best Original Screenplay—Anora wasn't.... a good screenplay... it was a very simplistic screenplay... as Sean Baker is wont to do...

Best Director—lol Anora wasn't that well directed again BE SO SERIOUS. I actually think I would've given this to Coralie if not Edward Berger, because The Substance was really interesting to me on a visual level.

I also kinda wished Nosferatu would've won for Production Design and Costumes. That movie was fucking stunning to look at.

EMILIA PEREZ REVIEW

I didn't want to watch this movie for a lot of reasons, but I made a promise to myself to watch every single Best Picture nominee, and for some reason, this movie got the most nominations out of every single movie up for an Oscar this year. I've heard the controversy about how this movie was made by a French guy who's never been to Mexico and how bad and offensive the plot was to Mexican and transgender people. Hell, I've even seen that one clip of "La Vaginoplastia" that people were sharing on every single platform known to man. Despite all of this, I still had an open mind going into this. There have been plenty of universally panned movies that I didn't think were all that bad, Joker 2 being the most recent example. So, I sat down, pulled up Netflix, watched it and I didn't think it was as bad as people said. No, this movie is worse than I could've possibly imagined.

It's honestly shocking to see a movie where literally nothing about it works in any possible way. The movie is about a drug lord transitioning in order to fake her death and escape to America, using this lawyer lady to help her out with it. Ignoring how problematic this is as a plot about a hispanic trans woman, Emilia herself is just written so inconsistently. She uses Rita to get her every gender-affirming surgery known to man and doesn't see her as a friend until yes she does until no she doesn't until yes she does. She loves her wife, Jessi, and wants to get back with her post-transition until no she doesn't until yes she does. There's also a lot of plot points that either come completely out of the blue or go nowhere or both. Emilia starts a charity organization with helping people find their missing family and Rita stays for some reason. Emilia invites a bunch of drug lords and shady people to a fundraiser and Rita sings a song about how these people suck and this is the last we ever see from this plotline. And of course, my favorite part of the movie, Jessi getting with this guy behind Emilia's back, Emilia sending someone to intimidate him, only for it to be revealed right the hell out of nowhere that he actually has a private military that kidnaps Emilia.

You've probably heard how bad and insane the plot of this movie is, but what people don't mention is how boring this movie is. I don't care about any of these characters due to how badly written or unlikable they are. I wanted the kids to be ok, but that's about it. These scenes aren't shot or directed in any interesting way, so any time the characters weren't singing, I way bored out of mind. It got so bad that I just turned on Audio Description and started playing Mario Kart Tour on my phone. You know what, that's the ideal way to watch this movie, I highly recommend it.

The thing I was the most curious about going into this movie was the songs. Like I said, the only song I knew about was "La Vaginoplastia," and at the time, I was thinking, "Maybe this was a bad song taken out of context and the rest of the songs are better than that." I cannot stress what I'm about to say enough when I tell you that "La Vaginoplastia" is one of the better songs in the movie. It's badly written, sung, and edited in an obnoxious way, but hey, at least it's sung with music in the background. Half of the songs in this movie are just characters barely carrying a tune and warbling into a half-sung monologue about their situation with no music in the background. I don't mind spoken-through musical numbers, but I mind when they don't even have the bare minimum and forget to put music in their songs. The songs that do have music in them are barely any better because just like the other songs, barely anyone is singing. "El Mal" is a great example, because both Zoe Saldana and Karla Sofia Gascon are just rhythmically speaking. I'm sure both of these actors can sing with the proper vocal training, it's just that they didn't get that training because nobody gave a single solitary shit. The acting overall isn't bad, it's just that nonexistant singing that really gets to me, which I think was done because Gascon is not that good at singing. I hope she's not a horrible person in real life or anything.

The only 2 songs I actually like were "Para" and "Las Damas Que Pasan." These 2 are actually sung by the characters in the movie with great music and great writing about loss and reconciliation. They're subtely powerful songs that deserve to be in better movies than Emilia Perez. Good job, Jaques Audiard, including these songs saves this movie from being a 1/10.

I'm sorry that I've posted so many negative reviews in the past few weeks. I don't like writing negative reviews because I'd much rather write about things I like and gush about why I like them so much. It's just that a lot of things in recent memory have massively disappointed me and they have artistic choices that are incredibly hard to defend. My next reviews are going to be likely about things I enjoy, so look forward to hearing about that.
