Anyway this is my participation in Creatanuary 2023 because I accidentally looked at last year's prompt list lol

Karkinos

I just want to be more flexible if it goes to concept art and design characters so I try to draw diffrent things. So here's my new concept - Karkinos - giant crab from Greek mythology. I am really happy with how this work turned out.

Creatuanary 1 - Karkinos

"I am Karkinos!"

Karkinos! A funny lil (big) crab guy with a big ol cannon and a mechanical claw! Let's take a look at his stats - decent HP, a bit of armor, (only 35%?) 30-60 damage per hit at max level. 20 second regeneration time?! Come on, we're gonna need a bit more than that in the most anti-barracks game in the series.

Enter Battle-Hardened, a skill that grants invincibility. Sounds impressive, right? Well. It lasts four seconds. Has a 65% chance to trigger. and only triggers when Karkinos is below 200 health. Ingvar from KR1's invincibility was a million times better than this..

This just doesn't cut it in Frontiers. Not with 35% armor and not with a 20 second regeneration period. I found Battle-hardened to be of extremely limited usability - It's just not reliable.

It's the same for his Shoulder Cannon, which hurts and slows enemies in an AoE by 60%. What use is slowing stuff down in the campaign levels? If anything, you want to speed some things up so that more towers are being used at once, because once the paths are filled with enemies, good luck aiming the cannon at the target you want.

Pincer is a bit more reliable but only against single targets. The area which this skill targets is miniscule - it can't even hit a second sublane if the lane isn't horizontally oriented. The dps is less than half of Alric's Flurry, and while it is indeed true damage, it's just not comparable.

Karkinos did almost nothing here. His Pincer was hard to control and Shoulder Cannon mostly targeted enemies who were already escaping the choke point.

Burrow is a nice speed increase, but it doesn't really do anything when the regeneration is so slow.

And Iron Pincer is just a way to get Karkinos' damage output up to what it should have been in the first place.

Sorry Karkinos. 5/10. I can't bring myself to give you a 4/10 but it was close. A melee hero just needs to bring more to the table, especially in Frontiers. 12 true dps and 40 melee dps, (too low) 35% armor (too low(come on, he's a giant crab thing! give him at LEAST 50% armor!)) 500 health and an unreliable invincibility and a near useless stalling ability means Karkinos is best left in the ground. He's interesting for sure but he absolutely lacks the power to back it up.
