Plot

This series follows Odette, an android created by Professor Hiroaki Yoshizawa (commonly called "the Professor"). Wanting to understand the difference between "those girls" (high school girls seen on TV) and herself, Odette is allowed to attend high school.

She begins making friends, including the school's holy terror Asao Kurose, Yoko Morino, Miwako Yokoyama, Shirayuki Ringozaka, and fellow android Chris.

Will Odette learn everything there is to know about being human? Will she answer her own question? Read this six-volume series to find out!

Big shoutout to my friend who let me borrow the first five volumes (I'm on the hunt for volume 6). I enjoyed this series more than I thought I would! I'll admit, I usually don't read or view anything that centers around the question "what if androids/artificial intelligence/robots learned about humanity, emotions, you name it." However, I fell in love with Odette and her character development. I also adore Asao and his tsundere nature, haha. I will say, I hope Odette gets over her anger toward the professor (who refuses to buy her a phone).

I'm dying to know what's going to happen with Travis and if Chris figures out that he's in love with Odette. I suppose I'll have to purchase volume 6 and find out!

Rightio I LOVE Kamisama Kiss. It was the only anime that made me cry, and will continue to be the only one. But I had a thought. What inspired Kamisama Kiss? While there isn't any evidence of what exactly inspired Kamisama Kiss, at least not on my quick look up, I did, however, find an interview in Los Angelos back in 2015. Julietta Suzuki expressed how "Kamisama" Hajimemashita in English was "Kamisama Kiss" and in French, it is "Divine Nanami". The interviewer asks what that was all about, and to her response, she said "The Japanese titles themselves have a little bit of a comedic element to them, Kamisama Hajimemashita, but if you look at the content of the manga itself Kamisama Kiss or Divine Nanami may be more fitting." The interviewer asks "So both of those titles, Kamisama Hajimemashita and Karakuri Odette ((another work of Suzuki)), they deal with the idea of what it means to be a human being. What do you think makes someone human and why?" In response, Julietta says, "Having emotions and wanting to express desire the way you want to, that makes someone a human." After reading this, I believe it is safe to assume that Julietta's inspiration behind her work (in our case, Kamisama Kiss) is to express what makes someone human, and probably the simple desire to tell a story. i can never explain how much i loved karakuri Odette, i reread it maybe 10 times and i will forever love it (even if the ending left me in tears cuz they never got together in the end. butt maybe it was for the best, it gave the manga such unique ending)

I am a very anti-robot person I am a Luddite in my heart of hearts, fundamental hater and I think AI irl is immoral, the only exceptions have been karakuri odette and anyone off of Star Wars but I don’t think they count so just karakuri odette BUT I will make an effort for @ladytemplar and @collectoroflovelythings for this Hera chick
