Note
I’m a baby gal who’s only recently looking into gyaru models do you know what kanako kawabata is up to these days? Is she still gyaru and does she have any social media?
I am not too sure what she's up to nowadays. I can only assume she's stepped away from gyaru/social media, since I can't really find anything on her that's active, sadly.
If anyone knows any social media handles for her, please drop them below!

Today in Miyagawacho: Misedashi of Maiko Kanaemi from the Kawahisa Okiya!
This is great news, Kanaemi is the first Maiko to debut from Kawahisa since Kanako almost five years ago! Kawahisa had some bad financial issues in the past and was a known Maiko-only okiya, but they ended this trend two years ago when they allowed Satoharu to have her Erikae.
Satoharu become independent after just a little over a year, Kanako has become really popular (she even is on the Kyō Odori poster this year) and now they have a new Maiko, so things seem to be going a lot better.
Kanaemi is the fourth imouto of Natori Geiko Kanachisa, the atotori to the Kawahisa Okiya. Her two other two imouto that are currently active, Kanayuki and Kanako, are doing great, so I’m sure that Kanaemi will do very well.
Congratulations on your debut Kanaemi, and all the best wishes for your career!

Got a book in the mail today, something I snagged on eBay for super cheap.
I bought this book so I could learn more about Gyaru, and was interested in the trends through the years. Flipped through it a bit and found my favorite Egg magazine model, Kanako Kawabata. (On the left) I always liked her style, as it was usually bright and colorful.
Currently, I’m enjoying the fashion from 2009-2011. Most of what I see seemed to be more upbeat and fun, or floral and frilly, two things I like.
What I like most about Japanese fashion magazines and books is that it’s very different from the American magazines. There’s not many ads. It’s mostly what I want out of a women’s magazine; fashion, makeup/hair tutorial. Feeling so inspired to put some cute outfits together. 🌸
