     From then on, he entertained o n l y himself with the invention of countless, asinine handles to use instead of Beastman. That term was among them.  “Ambiguous Human-Beast Bastard,” was one the only one I found to be amusing, because it’s such a long route to get back to the simple term, Beastman.

   It was irritating as hell, but especially in the way that it made his disposition familiar.

      I knew his name was Kamina, but I called him terrible things, too, instead. Hairless Ape, Witless Monkey. Keh, I guess it was just part of our rivalry. Eventually, it became something that I heard without animosity to it. It’s the same way I use ‘Ningen’, these days. It just means ‘Human.’ I once said it with contempt. But now...  

       Anyway. It’s unsightly enough as a nickname some fool coined for Beastmen.

       I’m sure Avant uses it with equal derision and familiarity.  It isn’t the worst thing he could say, but I still want to bloody his nose when I hear it. He’s a rude little upstart, too, just like Kamina. Tch! You’d think he’d emulate the better aspects of his legacy, not just the delinquent with a big mouth.

   It’s not a word that suits a princess’ mouth, though.

                                     So you should forget that you’ve heard it.❞

  The blond huffed, and crossed his great arms over his chest, indignation (without ire) still close to his tongue. He didn’t even hear it as an insult, anymore, when Kamina used it - obnoxious as the shorthand was. With Avant... he couldn’t be sure yet, if he was just making a cocky jab, or if he really did harbor a genuine disgust for Viral and his race.
