Kamen Rider Ex-Aid: thoughts on the series as a whole (Spoilers)
Well now that I finally finished watching this series it’s time to write my thoughts on this series.
Story:
When a mysterious game virus is beginning to spread, it’s up to a bunch of doctors to use the powers of video games to stop it and learn to cooperate in finding the one responsible for it. That alone is a strange concept that I was surprised how it manages to make it work by acknowledging how dumb it is, it also knew when to be serious at times, but it knows when to balance it properly. I also liked how ‘most’ of the movies/specials tie-in to the series very well (with a few exceptions). But no series is perfect. this series had a tendency of adding so much that some of it ends up being forgotten or ignored (such as Drago Knight Hunter Z’s usage and a few characters not getting enough screen time), but despite that, I still enjoyed the series overall The Genm Arc is probably my personal favorite of the series, mostly cause of how our antagonist steals the show with how insane he’s become and how he was always one step ahead and it ends on a bittersweet note. The Chronicle/Chronos Arc was okay, but it did kind of go all over the place, not to say it was awful, there were some things they could’ve handled better (such as Nico getting sidetracked), but I felt the ending makes up for it and breaks the ‘Female Rider curse’ for once (with Poppy sacrificing herself to save everyone and it wasn’t in vain, as well as Kuroto being able to revive her), while I would’ve preferred if they’d not kill her off, it’s done better than the last few attempts (coughAliacough). There was also the return of the Level 1 forms, which was unexpected but the explanation for it made sense.
Characters:
Emu Hojo/Kamen Rider Ex-Aid: I really liked Emu from the moment I saw him, with his passion of wanting to save people and make them smile. I also enjoyed how similar he was to the classic Kamen Rider, with the reveal that he was experimented on and was connected to the villains in a way.
Hiiro Kagami/Kamen Rider Brave: Hiiro was a character I grew to like overtime, his motivation for fighting was pretty sad, despite it being fridging, but at least by the end there’s some hope for him.
Taiga Hanaya/Kamen Rider Snipe: Taiga was pretty cool unlicensed doctor/Rider, especially with his motivation being that he feels that he should be the only Rider because of how he has nothing to lose anymore, but is reminded that he doesn’t need to be alone and grows as a character.
Kiriya Kujo/Kamen Rider Lazer: A medical examiner who became a Rider after losing his friend to the virus and a fan favorite, who was then killed by Genm to stop him from revealing the reprogrammed data. Later on, in order to counter the other Riders, Masamune revived Kiriya to work for him, only to be manipulated by him and rejoining the others. I felt he was an okay character but I do see why people enjoyed him.
Asuna Karino/Poppy Pipopapo/Kamen Rider Poppy: Asuna/Poppy was a pretty enjoyable character, she was cheerful and really loved making people smile even when she became a Rider by force. Despite being a Rider, she explained that she didn’t like fighting, but when she feels she has to, she’ll be there to help out.
Nico Saiba/Ride-Player Nico: Nico at first was a character I to hate, but throughout the series, I grew to appreciate her determination. At first I thought she was a Bugster in disguise, but instead she was a girl who wanted revenge on Emu for beating her in a tournament, then when Chronicle started was spreading, she decided to help out by being a Ride-Player herself (though she isn’t called one, I still consider her a Rider) It was cool that she went back to school and used her funds to save Genm Corp.
Haima Kagami: One of the side characters that didn’t get much screen time, but when he was, he was pretty enjoyable, but also knew when to be serious as well, showing where Hiiro gets it from.
Tsukuru Koboshi: A side character that I wish got more to do tbh, the episode with him and Burgmon was a bittersweet one. I did like when he tried helping them make a new Gashat to beat Kuroto, I do wish they did more with that, but I’m glad that he’s now the new CEO for Genm Corp
Kuroto Dan/Shin/Deus/Kamen Rider Genm: Honestly, he’s the highlight of the series, as a villain, he really was a real threat but also knew when to be pretty hammy. Even after his death, he finds a way to come back and reluctantly assists the others in beating Parad, then his own father.
Parado/Kamen Rider Para-DX: Another cool villain that started as an ally to Genm until he took over Chronicle to make it a game about the enemies beating the players and revealing that he was Emu’s Bugster/genius gamer M. But when Chronos took over and brought fear into Parad, making him regret his past actions and join the others, even sacrificing himself to save them, but was save in the end by his host/friend.
Graphite: A Bugster that came from Hiiro’s girflfriend, he was a small threat at first, but was then revived for Chronicle and given an upgrade to battle the strong Riders with his partner Parad, but when Chronos took over, he and Parad decided to inject him with Gemdeus’s cells to counter Chronos. During his final battle with Brave, Snipe and Nico, Chronos gives him a chance to escape, but he instead chooses to fight him and allow them to defeat him fairly. He was pretty alright.
Ren Amagasaki /Lovelica: Another character I loved to hate, he was the next CEO after Kuroto’s death and a Bugster that controls Poppy to work with Parad and the other to complete Chronicle. But when Chronos came around, he was killed by him and used as an example to bring fear to the Bugsters and the Riders.
Masamune Dan/Kamen Rider Chronos: Kuroto’s father who was framed for his sons actions and was released from prison a while after Kuroto was caught. Revealing that he infected himself with the virus, creating an antibody and becoming Chronos to take back Genm Corp. He started off okay-ish, but he really grew to become a big threat and hammy, like father like son after all.
Gemdeus: The final boss of Chronicle, awakened after getting all the Gashatrophies, he spreads his virus throughout the city thanks to Masamune reprogramming him, but when they create a vaccine for him, they manage to weaken him, causing Chronos to take drastic measures and fuse with the Bugster. He’s eventually split from Chronos and is defeated by Para-DX. He was an alright villain and I'm certain we’ll ‘Never’ see him again.
Bugsters: The Bugsters in this series are an interesting bunch, some looking goofy while others were pretty cool, it was a neat idea of them to have them get stronger when they get revived, but I’ll admit it did get dull overtime.
Other:
Suits: The suits are pretty neat for this season, with some so goofy that it works with the tone of the show. I didn’t expect to love the Level 1 suits, but I’m glad they existed and had a reason to be there.
Weapons: The weapons were pretty okay, though I wish they added more, especially for the final forms (give the final forms a weapon dang it)
Music: The music are extraordinarily good, there isn’t any track that I disliked.
Effects: the effects are pretty cool, such as some neat camera angles and the “hit” effects, which were cool to see,
Conclusion:
Kamen Rider Ex-Aid is honesty a fun ride from start to finish, while their are a few bumps in the road, I still enjoyed it overall. This series is now on my top 5 Rider shows, because it blew my expectations and almost never felt predictable. But while the series is over, there's still the last episode of Snipe episode 0 in October, then the Ex-Aid Movie: True Ending (which I think was a neat idea, given how most of us can’t see it until it get’s released on blu-ray and fansubbed), then the three V-cinema’snext year (consider it DLC). So until then, can’t wait for the next season with the debut of Kamen Rider Build.

Ex-Aid review: Month 9 (Episodes 34-36)
Alright, time to once again dust off my review text file and talk about last month. I'm gonna try something less long-winded, talk about major plot points instead of doing one episode at a time.
At the end, I will also talk about predictions made a few months ago and make some predictions... for the rest of the show. Most of them technically relate to July episodes I haven’t seen yet.
Last we left off, Hiro got played for a fool, or at least that's what I expect to be the outcome once I see July's episodes... Masamune Dan has promised him his girlfriend's life, in favor of his loyalty as a lackie who'll smack away any Riders that try to get in the way of Chronicle's success.
As a whole, this subplot is about as necessary as I suggested in the last show review - it makes sense, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't really help when our only exposure to Saki is a scene in which their relationship was at its worst. That's the only reason it doesn't really work for me - you have to sorta fill in the gaps to make it work.
Meanwhile, the Bugsters are on the move with a Kamen Rider Chronicle Gashat of presumably morbid origin, injecting their Bugvisor with the data of Gemdeus in order to maybe have the slightest chance at being able to challenge Cronus... which I kinda wasn't expecting.
Especially when Graphite INJECTS IT INTO HIMSELF. We see a followup later where he's clearly got some reaction to it, but I don't know what exactly this will lead to - I've remained pretty unspoiled on July's episodes, to my delight!
Graphite and Parad's plan to infect Cronus' ability to pause time ends up failing, because Masamune has hired a new big-chinned Rider to inhibit the virus' infection: Kamen Rider Lazer Turbo!
Okay, this is a bigger talking point... Kiriya is BACK! And it doesn't feel like he left since he appeared in three other things after death. At least this time, he's back for real and there's a story reason that makes sense within universe. I suspected weirdness when he was summoned from the Proto Bakusou Bike Gashat, but I guess they establish here that EVERYONE'S data is stored there somehow. Okay.
Lazer Turbo is a design I'm sure only works for a handfull of people. As someone who was honestly kind of bothered by how they weren't able to make regular Lazer compatible with the other armors, I am pretty happy to see them figure something out even if it could stand to have some more original parts. The use of Proto Shakariki Sports and Jet Combat are fun and provide some kind of show canon for how those armors work, and I guess it's fine to know that Proto Giri Giri Chambara just kinda summons the weapon - would want more, but an answer is fine even if it's not the one I want.
Kiriya's role this month was pretty fun. He initially seemed a bit flat, but once I recalled that Kiriya's character trait is LIES, I caught on. I'm glad that they framed his fight by the shore in such a way that says "We know you know, so we won't drag this out too much". It was kinda cleverly executed, in that regard. And the payoff was a lot of fun.
Okay so, there's one other major talking point for this month, which is Ex-Aid's final form Gashat, Hyper Muteki! But first I wanna get out some capsule thoughts on other things that happened... cause honestly I didn't have much to say.
Saki's repetition isn't nearly as creepy as Kuroto, so it's a lil more annoying. Wouldn't be surprised if Hiro went crazy during all this.
Parad's desire to rejoin Emu is an interesting subplot after Cronus completely shook the playing field. This has a wonderful followup once I get to the big talking point.
Masamune's plan is to kill more people so that the new treasure in the game is a bunch of innocent lives? That'll sale! Actually, wait, it is selling. Damn. What a world this is. I also like how convincing he is to Genm Corp despite everything that's happening.
Ride-Player civilians are beginning to get comical. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, I'm just noticing they're becoming more of a background nuisance. Less about saving a life and more about preventing a child from putting a fork into a power outlet. I also like how they tried to give one of them a gut.
And the use of Hyper Muteki by Genm is pretty fun, displaying its ability to literally serve as a video game power-up with 10 seconds of invincibility. Which Genm wastes by expositing and laughing maniacally. It's so perfect, and reminds me why I love Genm as a chaotic good Rider.
Okay, let's speed this up and go into the true use of Hyper Muteki!
Muteki Gamer is Ex-Aid's final form. Speaking of, did you know the proper term for this is STRONGEST form? That's what the Japanese term translates to. But Decade gave us Final Form Ride, so I guess both can be accurate. Regardless, we all know what final form means in this kind of context - it's the big one.
Much like Cronus' Chronicle Gamer, there is no level attached to Muteki, all for the better - we've had a few series in which the final form makes reference to infinity (see Wizard and Ghost), and others that make reference to some kind of extreme (see W and Gaim), so Muteki basically just referring to video game invincibility is fun.
Also when it comes to the game, Hyper Muteki is apparently a "musou" game, which seems to mean a Dynasty Warriors style experience in which the player is invincible. Kuroto's basically made a game that best represents his genius, and is just letting Emu use it, I think. Hey, that’d be fun to see Genm make use of if they do a proper Genm spinoff. Just change the eyes and bam.
Muteki Gamer's debut is exactly what it needed to be. We get a transformation that is interrupted midway, but continues despite Cronus' pause. Then he points out Ex-Aid only haS 10 seconds due to how Genm used it, only to be shocked that Ex-Aid has all the time in the world. Finally, when he unleashes a barrage of fast attacks against Cronus, it seems initially ineffective... then he pulls off a "You're already dead" and the attack kicks in after Ex-Aid unleashes it. I think they were going for the idea that his attacks were so fast the gear didn't even immediately register them, but regardless, it looked badass.
Final forms are fun to see in action, but I think this is the first time I've been this pumped to see a debut in a while - it really does handle it all in style!
With that, we end June's review... halfway into July. I gotta be more timely with these, because now we know for a fact that August will be Ex-Aid's final month.
Also hey, it’s been 3 months since I did predictions! At that time, Kamen Rider Chronicle was just starting, and lots of crazy things have gone down since then. Let’s see what I guessed right.
Kamen Rider Chronicle sure is chaotic (...) But I think that the effects of Chronicle are gonna be temporary, and all of the deaths resulting from it will be undone somehow (...) Ride-Players will probably all go away after that, meaning Niko’s chance to be a Rider will probably be short-lived.
Called it. We know now there is absolutely an undo button involved here, but I am surprised that Ride-Players have persisted this long - including Ride-Player Nico!
Next up, Kamen Rider Chronos. I really still believe Kuroto’s dad is going to be him. Not Parado, not Graphite, just a man we keep seeing in prison. He’s got an intimidating visage to him I look forward to seeing in a Rider belt.
The man I was hoping for~ And he did not disappoint.
We’re getting Poppy Pipopapo as Kamen Rider Poppy, and due to the nature of female Riders, people have low expectations for where she’ll go. Some think she might even die! But based on the blue-eyed version of her in the opening (as opposed to the red eyes on the physical suit we’ve seen in the preview), I suspect she’ll turn good and still get to fight as a Rider. At worst, she might get the Buggle Driver II taken away from her so that Chronos can use it.
Yeah I’m surprised the Buggle Driver II wasn’t taken away. Not because of what was stated about female Riders, but because they just... decided to introduce a second one. Still, nice to see I was wrong there.
I think that Parado will be a major antagonist for the heroes now that he’s been boosted to Level 99, which is gonna be a close rival to Ex-Aid’s Maximum Gamer form. (...) But if there’s anything to take him down a peg, it’ll be Ex-Aid’s final form. Let’s just hope he gets in some character development/history before then.
I did get some kind of character out of him in last month’s episodes, what with him showing a fear of Cronus. But I did not expect Cornus to level the playing field and be the one that overpowers everyone - Parad lives... for now.
But I’ve definitely seen spoilers for July. I know there’s an episode title that is literally referencing his departure. So maybe it’s too easy to predict that he’ll die, but I will add this: I think Parad will live on in some way. Maybe a little bit of him is still inside Emu, meaning he can still get some revenge on his killer. We’ll see.
Oh, speaking of... something happens to Taiga in the next episode, I know. I haven’t payed enough attention to see if Taiga appears in episodes after, so I can only guess that perhaps he is in intensive care right now. I can’t imagine they killed him off, but I guess we’ll see.
One thing I’ve not been spoiled on is Hiro’s situation with Saki. I think since the heroes now have the Proto Gashats, they’ll be able to convince Hiro well enough to return. That being said... Masamune giving him a new form with no strings attached? Suspicious. Maybe there’ll be some kind of mind control in place in the event Hiro turned on him. This man thinks ahead. It’s gonna take a heavy duty “What it means to be a doctor” speech to shake Hiro from this one.
Some heavy stuff is gonna happen with Gemdeus, isn’t it? I betcha what’s gonna happen is, Graphite and Parad were successful in infecting Masamune’s belt with the virus of Gemdeus... which results in him becoming a Gemdeus with the unstoppable power of Cronus! That’s, like, twice unstoppable. Perfect for an endgame villain.
Finally... the ending? Okay, so I kinda went over this when it came up that August would be Ex-Aid’s final month, but let me be more clear on what I expect from the ending.
The summer movie, True Ending, definitely seems like it’s framing itself as the proper ending to the show’s story, even though it has various summer movie elements to it. I suspect it will be an ending that is perhaps bittersweet, sacrifices will be made, and there’ll be no real attempt at a continuation from there. Like, the movie will be a self-contained thing.
As far as how that relates to the show’s ending... I think that the show will have your standard happy ending. Bugsters are gone, CR is disbanded, everyone goes back to their regular lives as doctors/non-doctors. All that needs to be kept in place is the ability to transform, or at the very least modify the gear so it isn’t required anymore. Basically, the show’s ending is more welcome to continuation and crossovers. As for which one is “canon”? I don’t think it matters. Whichever ending is to your liking, I guess.
I am very interested to see how my predictions check out. Now, see you in a couple more weeks I guess, as we see where Hiro's princess-saving journey takes him.

Ex-Aid episode 30-36 thoughts (Spoilers)
Well since I caught up with most of Kyuranger last time, it’s time I caught up with (mostly) everyone’s favorite gaming gremlin. Last Time: We get confirmation on Parad being Emu’s Bugster, but when he tries to reprogram him, it gives him the chance to upgrade himself to becoming Perfect Knockout. With all that said, how are they gonna stop Parad? let’s find out.
Kamen Rider Ex-Aid episode 30:
Emu finds himself in Pallad’s base, with the others trying to find a way to save him, Poppy them the prototype Gashat and Driver she found, but are certain it’s dangerous. They get an alert and the girls fight Motus.
He escapes and Emu/Palad arrives to attack them, especially Poppy for betraying their kind, Emu challenge Pallad in a 1 on 1 fight so the others can be safe. Asuna decides to use the prototype Gashat to help Emu.
Emu and Pallad arrive at the lab where it all started to settle this once and for all. The Prototype Gashat doesn’t work, so Poppy goes into it to find the issue. Meanwhile, Hiiro battles Motus to save the patient.
Poppy notices something off with one of the Bugsters in the game. Pallad beats Emu since he was M, the others try to stop Pallad from killing Emu, until Genm Level 0 arrives to fight Para-DX, wanting revenge.
Pallad tries to take Emu, but Genm suppressed their connections. Poppy reveals she found his data in the prototype Gashat, now becoming a Bugster, then Poppy seals him in the Driver for his rudeness.
Next Time: Is the enemy of my enemy my friend now?
Overall I loved this episode, ladies and gentleman, Dan the Gamer man has returned and he is just as hammy as he was before. I always knew he had a backup plan to get himself revived, he’s just that crazy to do so. I also loved the double henshin between Poppy and Nico, gotta give this series props for having two female Riders (I count Nico as one since it’s not the suit that makes you a Rider, it’s the will and motivation that makes you one), also loved how she pointed out that Kamen Rider Poppy’s eyes are blue now since she’s now a good guy. I also loved the battle between Ex-Aid and Para-DX, the camerawork and choreography and really investing. I also liked how Poppy decided to use the prototype Gashata and when it wasn't making her transform so she decides to enter it to see if she can find a way to make it work, while this hasn’t been done it does somewhat make sense that she was able to since she’s a Bugster herself. I also liked how the Level 0 Gashat is able to suppress the Bugster virus and capabilities, such as brake the link between Emu and Pallad, so he could control him. There are a few nitpicks, such as Nico and Taiga defeating two Bugsters off screen and gaining their Gashat trophies as well as Hiiro beating Motus off screen to save a patient. Can’t wait for the next episode, where both Ex-Aid and Genm take on Para-DX, Dan tells them there might be a chance to save the lost one’s who vanished, Taiga knowing what it means for Hiiro and Emu calls out Dan for him thinking it’s all just a game.
Kamen Rider Ex-Aid episode 31:
Dan redecorates Poppy’s room, calling himself Shin Kuroto. Poppy explains she revived Dan to save Emu. They get a Bugster alert and Emu battles Charlie. Para-DX arrives to fight, until Genm appears.
Nico beats Charlie and Genm reveals that contact with him decreases his enemies level, he is beaten but is revived since his Gashat gives him continues. They speak to the Player, who wanted to save her son.
Poppy sees her host’s memories, revealing she was Kuroto’s mother and he reveals there’s a chance to save the one’s who lost their lives. Emu doesn’t like Dan;s ideology and refuses to help him.
Genm goes to take on Para-DX alone, Poppy stops the fight to tell Kuroto that she’s thankful for him creating her, being reminded of his mother. Para-DX fires at them, with Dan taking the blow for her,
Emu helps Genm beat Para-DX despite not forgiving him, regaining Dangerous Zombie. Later Kuroto reveals where the vanished humans are and that they’re nearly done with Kamen Rider Chronicle.
Next Time: Time for Chronos’s debut.
Overall I really enjoyed this episode, once again Dan (I’m sorry, Shin Kuroto Dan) shows how crazy he is by establishing that he had a contingency plan in case he got a game over, especially with how with the Level 0 Gashat, he can decrease his opponents level with just simple contact (via touch) as well as give him many continues (as of which he now has 97 lives left). I also liked how we got the reveal that Asuna/Poppy was Kuroto’s mother, it was honestly a neat twist that makes sense as well as explain that Kuroto did it to preserve her memory, which is why Chronicle was created, which he ultimately denies, but I get the feeling he’s using his god complex to hide his true emotions, heck he was willing to let himself get blasted in protecting Poppy, now that’s some neat character growth.. I also liked how Nico told Hiiro that he, Taiga and her should team up in order to complete Kamen Rider Chronicle in order to achieve their goals, showing some progression in them working together as a team. I did enjoy the battle between Ex-Aid, Genm and Para-DX, which was handled really well, especially the whole ‘once enemies now allies with a similar goal’ thing, it makes sense that he would help despite him stating that he won’t forgive his past actions. I also liked the reveal that the vanished humans are in the proto Gashat’s of the Bugster that infected them, which I feel is handling the chance of the many casualties being a bit better then the series prior since this is being foreshadowed. Can’t wait for the next episode, Where the four Riders take on the remaining Bugsters, in what is supposedly their final battle, until the legendary warrior Kamen Rider Chronos arrives.
Kamen Rider Ex-Aid episode 32:
At a Prison, Masamune is released early, elsewhere,Hiiro asks Shin Kuroto about the Proto Gashats and he tells them the Ministry took them. The Riders arrive to fight Para-DX, Graphite Level 99 and Lovelica,
They get beaten and the Ride-Player turns out to be Haima, who got infected with Lovelica’s virus, he explains why he did it and Hiiro tells him to tell the Ministry to get the Proto Gashats.
Masamune returns to his office, finding a Driver in a drawer. Ren appears, telling him using it will kill a normal person. Shin Kuroto tells them the final boss is Gemdeus, who can only be beaten by Chronos.
Haima explains the Proto Gashats were stolen, so now the Riders unite to fight the remaining Bugsters, until Masamune arrives to call off their game, saying this was all his doing, becoming Chronos.
He reveals that he was infected with the virus 16 years ago, they try to attack him, but freezes time to defeat them and kill Lovelica, who can’t be revived since he was frozen in time. To be continued....
Next Time: Hiiro tough decision.
Overall I liked this episode and oh man I liked Chronos’s debut, the way it was foreshadowed and how they mostly kept him a mystery, though only a few of us saw Masamune Dan being Chronos, I liked how they didn't just reveal in the scans or preview. One thing I just notice (I’m certain other people have as well) is how the three main villains are connected/similar to Emu in a way, With Kuroto and him being both gamers that dreamed of creating to give joy, then there’s Pallad who was Emu’s Bugster and also enjoyed playing video games, now here’s Masamune who (like Emu) was also infected with the Bugster virus years ago, but unlike Emu, he found a way to make the perfect antibody, thus making him the right person to become Chronos. I also liked the subplot of Haima being a Ride-Player trying his best to win in order to revive Saki for Hiiro, it somewhat explains why he’s been missing the past few episodes. I also liked how we got some foreshadowing with the final boss of Chronicle Gemdeus, who is said to be powerful that only Chronos can defeat him (by now we’ve seen what he looks like since the Ex-Aid movie shows what he looks like, which I’m excited for as well). I also liked Graphite’s slightly new upgraded form, even if it’s just a repaint. Speaking of the Bugsters, I did not expect them to kill off Lovelica that soon and the explanation of him not coming back because his date is frozen in time is pretty clever and also frightening when you think about it. There are a few pacing issues such as them letting Masamune out of prison was a bit too rushed and how the female Riders were put to the side, but otherwise it was a good episode. Can’t wait for the next episode, where Chronos talks with Brave, Salty is revived, Hiiro has to make a risky choice, Emu swears that he’ll stop Masamune and he asks Hiiro if he’d like to join his side.
Kamen Rider Ex-Aid episode 33:
Pallad begins to fear Chronos until Masamune arrives at their base, offering them to work for him if they want to live. Salty and Graphite arrive to battle the Riders, until Chronos arrives to stop the fight
He leaves and they notice that Hiiro is missing. Brave fights Chronos, but is beaten and is offered to work with him in order to get the Gashats. Later, he informs the others that Masamune who took the Proto Gashats.
Emu goes to Masamune’s office, learning that he wants to spread Chronicle worldwide. He deletes Salty to prove a point, which angers Emu and informs the others, Neo Kuroto says there isn’t a way to stop them,
Then both he and Emu get the same idea. Hiiro gets concerned until Emu tells him that he’ll route for his decision. Kuroto confronts his father for using him and battles him, while the others wait for their time to strike.
Genm is beaten and the others fight him, but are paused, only for Kuroto to pop out of Chronos’s Driver and hold him open to be beaten, only for Hiiro to betray them and join Chronos as he beats them and leaves.
Next Time: The return of Lazer!?
Overall I really liked this episode, oh boy, so many things happen in this episode, from Pallad being scared that there’s now a way to get him killed, to Hiiro’s choice of working with Masamune, in order to get the Drago Knight Hunter X Gashat and revive Saki, there is so much to enjoy in this episode. Masamune really shows himself to be a decent villain, wanting to spread Kamen Rider Chronicle worldwide so that Genm corp will be the number 1 game company, as well as deleting Salty with just a push of a button to make people feel calm about them getting infected so that more Chronicle Gashat’s could be sold and control most of their lives, now that is evil. I also liked some of the humorous moments, such as Haima wanting to know what’s been happening since he was out and they’re too busy to explain it and also Kutoto and Emu thinking of a way to counter Chronos’s pausing ability, furthering my previous statement in how similar they are. One thing that caught me off guard was Neo Kuroto entering Chronos’s Driver after getting a game over, so he wouldn’t be effected by Chronos pausing ability, I honestly forgot he could do that, this is why I enjoy this series so much, it manages to pull something unexpected and keeps me invested. Can’t wait for the next episode, where Masamune shows Hiiro the other Ptoro Gashats, Ex-Aid battles Brave and Taiga stops him from continuing since he sees what’s going on, Graphite and Pallad confront Emu telling him he has to defeat Brave, who sees a familiar face, which motivates him to fight as well, but not until Lazer returns.
Kamen Rider Ex-Aid episode 34:
Haima is shocked about his son’s betrayal, Emu remembered Chronos’s message and they realize why he did it. Parad and Graphite appear to ask them who is Gemdeus is to get rid of Chronos before leaving.
Later, Emu battles Gutton while Asuna helps the patient, until Brave intervenes. He beats Ex-Aid and takes his Driver, they call out his decision and remind him that Saki wouldn’t want this, then he walks away in tears.
Para-DX and Graphite find Gemdeus’s data and get a sample of it, with Graphite injecting it on himself. Poppy sees Neo Kuroto making a new item to beat Chronos. Parad wants Emu to join him in beating Chronos.
Poppy give Emu his old Driver, which Kuroto fixed. Masamune allows Saki’s data to appear, but only a fraction of it and brings back someone else. Emu finds Gutton, but Masamune and Hiiro arrive to stop him.
Ex-Aid fights Brave and defeat Gutton while Para-DX and Graphite take on Chronos, they use Gemdeus;s data to stop Chrono’s, only for Lazer Turbo to stop them and allow Chronos to beat them. To be continued....
Next Time: Can Kiriya be saved?
Overall I liked this episode, it was cool seeing Lazr/Kiriya back in a way that was really well thought out, with Hiiro taking Emu’s Driver (which was originally Kiriya’s before he was killed off), then Masamune uses the Proto Bakusou Bike to bring his data back (to show Hiiro how he can give and take their data) as well as use his Level 0 capabilities to suppress anything the Bugsters or the Riders could pull on him. I also liked how they made Hiiro mostly sympathetic since his reason’s for doing this is mostly understandable and when he’s given the chance to see Saki, she’s only given a fraction of her data, so now all she can say is one line, which emphasizes how awful Masamune really is. I also liked Parad and Graphite’s plan of using Gemdeus’s data to make a virus to beat Chronos, it was a neat idea, but sadly Chronos was one step ahead of them. I did like how we got some subtle hints for what;s to come as well as see that Neo Kuroto fixed Emu’s old Driver, which was surprisingly nice of him to do. Now to talk about Lazer Turbo, I think it looks neat, even if the armor seems a bit remolded from the other Riders, but I think it’s works since this is Level 0 prototype suit. Can’t wait for the next episode, where Kiriya fights Genm and Ex-Aid, Pallad wants Emu to beat Kiriya since he’s the one that can suppress their virus, Masamune give Hiiro a little gift, Neo Kuroto is nearly completing his ultimate item and Ex-Aid is certain that it’s not the Kiriya he remembers.
Kamen Rider Ex-Aid episode 35:
masamune wants to increase their player base to control them and to stop the Riders from treating patients. At CR, they believe the revived Lazer they fought was Kiriya, but Emu denies it.
Later, Ex-Aid battles Alhambra until Lazer appears and Genm is beaten, he reveals himself to be Kiriya and explain that doctors aren’t needed anymore since Chronicle will change the way life works.
Graphite is gaining side effects from the Gemdeus virus. Emu believes Kiriya was reprogrammed and Parad wants him to beat Lazer so they can defeat Chronos, but denies his offer.
They find Alhambra, but Kiriya arrives and Emu reminds him how he’s helped them even after his death. They fight and they notice Chronos watching. Snipe distracts him while Ex-Aid beats Alhambra.
He fixes Lazer, but he wasn’t brainwashed at all, whispering a secret message before leaving. Later, Masamune gives Hiiro Taddle Legacy, while Kuroto has completed Hyper Muteki.
Next Time: Muteki’s debut
Overall I enjoyed this episode, I don’t really have much to say here since most of it is self explanatory and I feel I’d be repeating myself from the last episodes. It is neat seeing Taddle Legacy in the series, though I do wonder where did he get that, I’m not certain if there’s an explanation in the Taisen film, though it could be possible that Masamune made it himself, since you know, like father, like son. I did like how they came to the conclusion that Kiriya was reprogrammed since it happened to Poppy previous episodes ago, but I was surprised that he was never reprogrammed to begin with and was working with Masamune the moment he was revived. I also liked that mysterious whisper that is left ambiguous but I feel that’s gonna come into play next episode. Can’t wait for the next episode, where Chronos decides to battle all Ride-Players so they all get a Game Over, the Muteki Gashat gets stolen, Kiriya battles Ex-Aid, Masamune tells Hiiro to finish off Ex-Aid with his new Level 100 Gashat and Ex-Aid achieves his final form, Hyper Muteki.
Kamen Rider Ex-Aid episode 36:
Chronos makes an ad to lure all Ride-Players for the Chronos challenge. Kuroto reveals his new Gashat while many people buy Chronicle. The next day, the Riders confront Masamune on his bluff.
Hiiro and Kiriya appear to fight them, Ex-Aid uses Muteki, but it denies him, Genm uses it and it’s immune to being paused, but only for ten seconds, Chronos takes the Gashat and beats the Rider.
Kuroto blames Emu since it was made for him. Masamune explains to Kiriya his challenge will give them a bad ending, so more players will arrive. Emu talks with Parad about him helping them stop Chronos
The Ride-Players arrive and Ex-Aid tries to warn them, then Lazer beats him and asks for Hyper Muteki. Emu decides re reemerge with Parad, becoming M again. Lazer gives Ex-Aid Muteki, since he lied to Chronos.
He transforms to Ex-Aid Hyper Muteki and manages to beat Chronos. Kiriya shows he took the Gashats back and reveals Masamune’s plan. Masamune demands Hiiro to kill Ex-Aid or else Saki’s data is erased.
Next Time: Will Taiga die?
Overall I really enjoyed this episode, I really like Hyper Muteki’s design, I really dig the gold features and it reminding me of the star power-up from the Mario games. One thing I’m glad no one brought up or spoiled for me was the fact that Emu reemerged with Parad to become Genius Gamer M again, I didn’t see that coming and it was done really well, with how Parad had been asking Emu to join him in defeating Chronos, now it’s the other way around and it makes sense since Parad was there to help Emu reach his potential and unlock his other forms previously. I did see Kiriya’s reveal that he was pretending to work for Chronos a mile away, even with it being spoiled. I did like Masamune’s plan of using the many lost lives as trophies so that more people can play Chronicle to save them, showing how much of an evil corporate businessman he is, even going out of his way to demand Hiiro to kill Ex-Aid (since he’s now a thorn on his side) otherwise Saki’s data will be deleted, man I enjoy hating this character for the right reasons. One thing that kind of bugs me is how Kiriya got the proto Gashat’s but wasn’t able to get the one Hiiro was after, but I guess Masamune had it with him at all times so he wasn’t able to grab it without getting caught. Man Ex-Aid is really stepping it up, at this rate this series might be able to be on my top five favorite Rider series, it’s pretty surprising how one writer did all of this compared to the previous season where the head writer went MIA for a while, only to come back near the shows ending and retcon a lot of what the series established (yeah I should get to those soon). Can’t wait for the next episode, where Ex-Aid battles Kaiden, Chronos gives Hiiro a choice, he becomes Brave Taddle Legacy and battles Para-DX, Emu knows that if they get the Proto Drago Knight Gashat, Hiiro doesn’t have to work for Chronos anymore, Taiga battles Graphite one on one and will he be able to survive?

Got a few scans now, not sure when we’ll see more, but these are already interesting reveals!
For starters, Dan Kuroto returns? Using the Proto Mighty Action X Origin Gashat (a proper Proto Gashat with black casing and greyscale art), he transforms into Action Gamer Lv.0. It makes use of the black and silver bodysuit with some regular silver replacing Genm’s usual colors.
Also, our first look at Kamen Rider Chronos, the Rider transforming with Kamen Rider Chronicle. Here he can be seen attacking the Graphite Bugster who appears to have a new form.

Some slightly better scans. Jumping the gun a bit but since higher quality scans have yet to show up, these are as good as it gets I guess.
Using a Gamer Driver, Para-DX inserts the Gashat Gear Dual to transform into Perfect Knock Out Lv.99. The form grants him the Gashacon Para-BlaGun, an axe with a gun mode. Para-DX takes on Ex-Aid in this form.
Using the Buggle Driver II, Poppy Pipopapo transforms into Kamen Rider Poppy with the Tokimeki Crisis Gashat, achieving Tokimeki Crisis Gamer Lv.X! She takes on the Riders with this form, apparently.
Then we have our immediate development with the Kamen Rider Chronicle Gashat. Civilians are now using it to transform into Ride Players. There are objects called Gashatrophies, which, if I had to guess, are collected when they defeat Bugsters since I see “Game Clear” beside them. Going with the old statement of "Collect 10 Gashats to defeat the Bugsters", I bet you it won't be hard for them to see the actual Riders as competition!
Also shown in this greyscale scan, Niko becomes a Ride Player with some of her attire carrying over. Also, the current CEO of Genm Corp turns out to be the Raburika(?) Bugster, which summons Bugster Viruses in... maid outfits. With such a feminine touch, this might be the work of Tokimeki Crisis!
The most important for y'all Kiriya fans is a spinoff for Kamen Rider Lazer, which is a Televikun DVD special. This features the Proto Bakusou Bike (Combo Revival Version) which apparently allows Kiriya to be briefly resurrected in this game world Ex-Aid finds himself in. Together, they take on a virtual Genm, who's using Proto Shakariki Sports as an armor. Looking forward to that, myself!
Lastly, our teaser for next month: The month of May will feature the debut of Kamen Rider Chronos, the Rider who uses Kamen Rider Chronicle to transform.

Alright, gonna completely sideline all my talk of who Kamen Rider Chronos might be in favor of a mind-blowing concept presented to me in conversation. I have to credit Comet for putting this one in my head.
With Kamen Rider Chronicle, it was no surprise that we’d receive a Rider using the Gashat to transform - Kamen Rider Chronos. At the time, it was to be expected that the game master, Kuroto Dan, would abandon his role as Kamen Rider Genm to achieve this form.
Since his death... well, people STILL think he’s gonna come back. But there’s also an expectation that Parado will abandon Para-DX for it, or that Graphite will become a Rider simply because he’s been revived. None of which are convincing theories to me.
Here’s the tricky thing about all those theories and why I shoot to them down: Look at what Kamen Rider Chronicle is, and what the Rider looks like. This is the Gold Drive of the series, the Sagittarius Zodiarts, the Wiseman - it’s our main villain until the end. You can’t just throw any random person into that role because it sounds cool. It’s gotta be someone with an impact, and more importantly, someone who has a deep connection to all that’s happened so far.
And as I’ve made mention of before (though maybe not worded this way), Kuroto Dan’s motivations seemed to me like they were short-term. I hesitated to say it but when he started working on Kamen Rider Chronicle and talking about making the greatest game, I had this thought of “This isn’t going to last until the end, he’s going to die.” His story has been told to the extent it could be told, and now he’s dead.
My response to the identity of Chronos, after being made aware of the possibility, has always been Kuroto’s father, former Genm Corp CEO. He’s in prison, sure, but that didn’t stop Ouja in Kamen Rider Ryuki from becoming a Rider. He is always shown in this eerie light, with a certain coldness to him, even wanting his own son dead.
Every scene with this man has made me interpret him as a potential future villain. And if Genm did not become Chronos, it would be fitting for his father to become that Rider since it has Genm’s design and eyes - but does it?
Getting to the point, I’ve been presented a much different person to take on the role of the villain. Someone who would make an impact. Someone who’s been there from the beginning. Someone you’ve been waiting to see a heel turn from.
Prodigy gamer M.
You’re either shocked or rolling your eyes. Because in my case at least, I’ve received a lot of messages with theories/hopes of some kind of moment where Emu and M - two identities we differentiate due to Mighty Brothers XX - become separated. I even said I could see that being fun for a summer movie thing, like Gaim-Yami. I didn’t think it would be a permanent thing because I thought to myself “Well we already have Chronos coming”.
But wouldn’t it be so fitting for M to become a separate Rider that Emu must fight?
Let’s take another look at Chronos. By which I mean scroll up and look at the image again. Yes, it certainly has Genm’s design... which is also Ex-Aid’s design. The eyes make you think Genm, but they might not be EXCLUSIVE to him.
The artwork for the Gashat (that being the icon that product images use) is also a tad strange. It flips the image around, so that the hair is flipped to the opposite of Ex-Aid’s. Now, this COULD be because the Gashat is used in the Buggle Driver - there’s no mirrors involved there, so the Buggle Driver just displays what’s on the Gashat as is. It gets flipped on the Gamer Driver.
However...
Dangerous Zombie, another Buggle Driver Gashat, isn’t flipped. So either this was some kind of error, or the art is trying to tell us something that the physical probably-reusing-parts suit cannot.
It could be telling us that Chronos is Ex-Aid’s mirror image... the same way Mighty Brothers XX splits up Ex-Aid, giving both Riders mirrored designs with changed colors.
But that’s not even the biggest giveaway in this theory. Let’s take a look at the toy catalog one last time to see what’s displayed on the Gashat. I edited it to make it clearer.
Whether you’ve been into it or not, Ex-Aid’s signature pose is a fist pump exactly like the one on Chronos’ Driver display. When I first saw it back then my initial thought was “Oh that’s kind of odd for the villain”, but if it’s M who has taken the lead whenever Emu transforms... it completely fits him.
Of course, this does lead me to the question of what Kuroto’s father has to do with any of this. Could it be that I - and anyone else who suspected him - just assumed his cold exterior was something more malicious? Or is he pulling the strings with M being a kind of puppet to him? Only time will tell.
Televikun teased that they’ll reveal Kamen Rider Chronos in their May issue. We’ll probably have our answer by the end of April.

Time again for a theory, because people are talking about (and asking thoughts about) where the show is headed this month. Potential spoilers ahead since it’s once again time to talk about death!
I feel I should mention, if I’m lacking any information from March’s episodes, it’s because I’m waiting until next week’s to watch them back-to-back.
That being said, I’m no stranger to the variety of images of beaten/shirtless Kuroto. I can only imagine these images alone are what spawns the theory that he’s on his way out.
To be blunt: I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the way they go.
Let's first look at this from a strictly "toku math" perspective. Genm is strong, and is (ignoring Graphite since his appearance was brief) our first major foe. I'd list examples from past Rider shows, but if you've seen more than one, you at least know that the first villain we're introduced to is not always the villain we see in the finale. At some point, they will either be overthrown or even killed off.
Genm's Zombie Gamer form was strong when it was introduced, but once his Level 10 was being pitted against Levels 20, 50 and soon 99 (10x his own level), I figure his story is nearing its end. All for the better, because he's gotten enough mileage out of the "I can never die" aspect of his form. You'd expect that some nasty things are happening to your body when you tamper with technology that makes you immortal after being brought to the brink of death.
Another thing about toku (particularly Kamen Rider): Genm's Zombie Gamer form was introduced 12 episodes in, and is still being used. By this point, he's either gonna get a new form, or he's getting killed off. I feel the latter is more likely at this point.
Now I know what you're thinking, especially now that I've got this image on screen: Toy catalog scans show us Kamen Rider Chronos, a Rider using the Kamen Rider Chronicle Gashat. Kamen Rider Chronicle IS Kuroto's current motivation, and it absolutely makes sense for him to use this as a new form. It's even got his eyes, if you look closely.
The thing is, we're all just kind of ASSUMING that's Kuroto under there. Nothing in the toy catalog - as far as I know - even makes mention of Genm, and I'm guessing Kuroto isn't mentioned either. Usually toy catalog stuff is basic like "Using the ___ Gashat, Kamen Rider ___ transforms!!", but you would think that it’d be a notable detail to say “Hey by the way, Genm got a new form”.
Point is, I could not tell you without a doubt that Chronos = Genm. A theory that's been shot my way a few times, and I believe it, is that Kuroto's father becomes Chronos. We've only seen him a few times, enough to know that he's equally shady and is still alive - who's to say he won't take Kuroto's place as the villain?
I don't venture out into the fandom much, but I know plenty of people find Kuroto to be pretty irritating - he's manic, selfish and egotistical. I think he's a good villain in that regard, one you’re supposed to hate, but his motivations and the lines he's been crossing feel like short term things.
Like Kiriya, he's getting way in over his head, and it's about time he got what's coming to him. Perhaps by a mech from planet Robobot. I can imagine not as many people would be opposed to this after he killed off our sweet bike prince.

Some much clearer images of the latest toy catalog. Let's do a round 2 on this stuff.
The main attraction is Ex-Aid's final form, Muteki Gamer. This involves the Hyper Muteki Gashat, which is placed over the Gamer Driver's central display with the Maximum Mighty X Gashat taking up both slots. It flips up to reveal Ex-Aid's form. There's also an additional alternate transformation sound when it's placed in the secondary slot. The DX Maximum Mighty X and Hyper Muteki Gashats can optionally be purchased together in a bundle.
Next is Para-DX's power-up form! Using the already released Gashat Gear Dual in the Gamer Driver, he gains Perfect Knock Out Gamer Lv.99. He has a weapon called the Gashacon Para-BlaGun.
There's also the Buggle Driver II, a green variation of Genm's current belt. It comes with the Kamen Rider Chronicle Gashat, which is used to transform into Kamen Rider Chronos - likely a powerful new form for Genm.
A surprise to all, Poppy Pipopapo becomes Kamen Rider Poppy! She does this using the Tokimeki Crisis Gashat in the Buggle Driver II.
In the Level Up Rider figure line, LVUR17 will be Para-DX in Perfect Knock Out Gamer, and LVUR18 is a two-pack of Ex-Aid's Maximum Gamer and Muteki Gamer forms - I betcha one of those is a shell! Also in the Rider Hero Series' 13th vinyl release will be Ex-Aid in Muteki Gamer.
And finally... a timeline of what major things fall under what months:
March: Ex-Aid's Maximum Gamer form
April: Para-DX's Perfect Knock Out Gamer form
May: Chronos and Poppy
June: Ex-Aid's Muteki Gamer form

Got ourselves a big reveal - that being various products that appear in the 3rd quarter catalog!
First off is Ex-Aid’s final form - using the special Hyper Muteki Gashat, which goes on top of the Gamer Driver’s central display, he obtains the Muteki Gamer form! No, I did not catch what level it was but I’m sure that will come. It’s very shiny.
Next up is... Kamen Rider Poppy?! Yes, the lovely mascot Poppy Pipopapo appears to be getting her own belt, transforming with the Tokimeki Crisis Gashat. And she looks delightful.
Kamen Rider Para-DX decides to mix things up by using the previously released Gashat Gear Dual in a Gamer Driver to achieve the Perfect Knock Out Gamer Lv.99 form! With it, a new weapon in the form of the Gashacon Para-BlaGun.
Last but not least, another belt comes our way in the form of the Buggle Driver II, which comes with the Kamen Rider Chronicle Gashat. The Rider using this could be Genm considering the references to Chronicle in the show, but it specifically says this Rider is named Kamen Rider Chronos (クロノス / Kuronosu). Also, Kamen Rider Poppy transforms using the same type of belt.
I suppose usually the final form is in the 3rd quarter catalogs, so the last thing we should expect for 4th quarter is an image or two regarding content that will be in the summer movie... Which we’ll probably see anywhere from 3-6 months from now. That should sate y’all who keep asking when toy catalog scans happen - be patient.
